Another TNA Executive Says Company Is Still Negotiating With Spike

tna

As previously reported, TNA President sent out a tweet on Monday afternoon claiming that negotiations between TNA and are still ongoing, despite reports to the contrary.

Additionally, TNA executive flat out claimed that the reports about TNA’s status with Spike TV are “untrue.” Ryder tweeted the following today:

  • TNA Going OUT OF BUSINESS?! HUGE Update On The Future Of The Company …
    • http://www.sescoops.com Undertaker316

like i said in the previous article, the website that announced the news was tmz a source less credible than dave meltzer

      • Boogie Nights

I suppose we should throw a parade…your credibility is a lot lower than Meltzer

        • http://www.sescoops.com Undertaker316

was that supposed to be an insult? considering that im not an article writer i dont see how i could have any credibility

          • Boogie Nights

Take it how you want it. You’re going to sit here a discredit other peoples workings and act like people should take your word over there’s.

    • Big c

Tna negotiating=please we have families to feed.

    • Forceton Banfodder

All this means is TNA is still trying to bring Spike back to the table, and this will remain true for the next 2 months.

It absolutely does not mean that Spike has any interest.

      • pwnez

Exactly. Spike TV already made their minds up. Most businesses would say the same thing; release a statement saying things are still being negotiated.

      • GodsLoyalSon

What do you think this means for the other companies now that TNA can no longer consider themselves the #2 promotion in the States

        • Forceton Banfodder

I don’t think it matters either way. When GFW finally debuts, they will be the #2 promotion in the US.

          • Mr_Shrimp_Vendor

Well… that is, unless of course SpikeTV or MTV decide to pick up another wrestling company respectively, such promotions as Dragon Gate USA (which I miss seeing on MTV btw), Evolve, Lucha Libre USA (another one I miss seeing on tv also), Chikara or even find some crazy way to buy ROH away from Sinclair Broadcasting. Not saying that’s going to happen, that’s just simply a theory being placed on “THIS” table. ;)

            • Forceton Banfodder

There’s also the possibility that SpikeTV/Viacom are purposely trying to force TNA into selling so they can own TNA outright and try to spin it into an actual competitor.

            • http://www.psvitalife.info/ Sack-Man

Spike tv/ tnn hasnt changed at all, they are still the same “hicks” that screwed ecw

            • http://www.psvitalife.info/ Sack-Man

How ironic it is that SOME of those guys you mentioned would have to work their way up to TNA levels of recognition to be considered a solid number 2 roh clearly is not number 2 (

        • Patrick

          lol that’s a very far distant #2.

      • http://www.rabidpictures.com yrabadi

Yeah, it ‘absolutely’ does not mean that Spike has any interest? Do you work for Spike? Are you at these negotiations?

        • Forceton Banfodder

I know corporate speak. I deal with management, middle management and lawyers regularly in my line of work. Management hates to say anything is finite even when it obviously is.

I work within the motorsports industry and my wife works in radio. What insight do you bring to the table?

          • http://www.rabidpictures.com yrabadi

lol – you weren’t at the table dude. Regardless of what you have experienced that makes you think you know what is going on – you weren’t at THAT table. To use the word ‘absolutely’… hm… I would think you would have to be there.

            • Forceton Banfodder

              What experience do you have?

            • Jesse

I have plenty of experience in the corporate world, including currently – and the truth is that different groups deal with different subjects… differently. I’m going to go with yrabadi in that you were not at the table.

            • Forceton Banfodder

Truth is, TNA claims negotiations are still on going. I’m sure in their mind they are. Technically, until the contract is up, negotiations will always be “on the table”

But let’s check what we’ve heard.

“TNA President Dixie Carter held a major company meeting on Friday and dropped the bombshell news
on her staff. According to sources close to the situation, she attempted
to spin the situation in her favor, saying that TNA decided to leave
Spike TV because they failed to promote the company effectively. ”

Since it does sound like the original story was leaked by SpikeTV to TMZ to call TNA’s bluff over whatever deal they laid out, I wouldn’t be surprised if Viacom/SpikeTV is either undercutting their previous deal dramatically or they’re angling to buyout TNA completely.

Either way, one thing is ABSOLUTELY true. Dixie is a liar.

            • The Grappler

Again, you were not at the table.

            • Forceton Banfodder

              Hi Dixie.

            • http://www.rabidpictures.com yrabadi

None. But I’m not the one making the statement.

            • Forceton Banfodder

But really your objection was to the use of the word “absolutely” which is the kind of semantic passive-aggressive bullsh*t I expect from someone lesser.

            • http://www.rabidpictures.com yrabadi

lmao – sure. I thought it was a silly statement. That’s all. Keep on keeping on.

            • The Grappler

Dude, you don’t know your rear end from your elbow.

TMZ is now taking back their story about TNA being cancelled. F4W is saying TNA will stay with Spike.

            • Forceton Banfodder

F4? You mean that place that claimed that WWE was going to sue CM Punk and nobody ever proved it to be remotely true? Great sourcing for information dude.

Oh, and I just checked TMZ and they have not revised their story, so you’re full of sh*t.

    • pwnez

Do we honestly think TNA executives are going to come right out and say they lost their partnership with their network? Of course they wouldn’t.

      • leehouse

Ryder would have to go back to writing his own IWC dirtsheet – heaven forbid…

    • GodsLoyalSon

Sorry but once a network announces that a show has been canceled then that’s it. The only chance they have is if fan interest is so high that they reconsider the idea. Very few shows have the following to help survive it with Power Rangers being the only show to my knowledge that has survived cancellation 5 individual times

      • B. T.

Spike hasn’t publicly announced it’s been cancelled or not renewed. TMZ was saying they had sources that have told them it wasn’t renewed.

        • GodsLoyalSon

Oh really? But it’s more then likely true because there haven’t been any reports that gave the allusion that Spike was either considering it or negotiating what they would do.

    • B. T.

      I hope they really are.

    • Ultra Pickle

Hopefully Spike is making room for either ROH or Global Force. And hopefully one of those promotions can become a legit competitor to WWE

      • TNA Live Crowd

Or they just might be making room for their own programs and say screw wrestling

        • Ultra Pickle

I wouldn’t put it past them. They probably draw more viewers from Star Wars marathons

          • B. T.

actually TNA gets the highest ratings that network has ever seen.

            • Ultra Pickle

I forgot about that actually. But if Spike is dropping TNA, they’ll need something that gets a big draw to take its place. The last thing they need is more Cops

            • B. T.

maybe the negotiations is to buy TNA out right.

            • Ultra Pickle

Maybe. I guess we’ll just have to wait and see

      • Max_Kirgan

Spike could put AJPW, NJPW, or NOAH in that time slot and ratings will double automatically. They don’t even need someone translating or subtitles.

What I’m getting at, is hopefully this leads a better product being put in that slot. I don’t really think this whole deal is just about Vince Russo being there. The product has been a joke for quite some time now.

        • Ultra Pickle

If they can show a product that doesn’t include wrestlers arguing about suing each other or about finding out who “has the power” and show some serious stories and wrestling that isn’t just plain embarrassing to watch, then Spike will get better ratings then TNA ever got them. I agree that showing one of those promotions on TV is the best option for Spike if they still want wrestling on their channel.

      • Ace

“And hopefully one of those promotions can become a legit competitor to WWE”

oh come on man…. time to wake up from that dream.

Dude nobody can compete with WWE, it’s already an established empire. Global Force and others like it can only compete with others that are on its own level. And ROH is indy my friend. Competing with WWE is a joke. ROH can compete with OTHER indys however.

        • Ultra Pickle

That sounded kinda wrong when I said it. I don’t think any promotion will reach WWE. But if ROH or NJPW can become more easily accessible to people like TNA was, then it would be at least more of an alternative. Seeing as tho these companies aren’t the joke TNA is, there is a possibility it could draw more fans to the product and wrestling in general. It’s all mainly wishful thinking on my part.

    • Patrick

Guess you should of hired Paul Heyman instead of turning him down eh Dixie …

    • ibeBrave

If TNA fails Jeff Hardy Bully Ray Kurt Angle And Samoa Joe should head to wwe

      • http://www.psvitalife.info/ Sack-Man

There was passive wwe intrest in joe last time his contract expired, aaaaand now that intrest is gone lol
