Backstage Reason For Impact Wrestling Moving To Wednesday Nights

As noted previously, TNA and Spike TV announced today that Impact Wrestling will move to Wednesday nights beginning with next week’s show.

The decision for the move was reportedly made within the past few days and one of the key reasons behind the switch was all of the competition that TNA faces on Thursday nights, with NFL games on CBS and the rumored move of WWE SmackDown to Thursday nights on SyFy.

The first edition of TNA Impact Wrestling on Wednesday will air next week, August 20th on Spike TV.

Dude, don’t. Just don’t. Worst parody account I’ve ever seen. Don’t encourage it. I’ve been wishing it would go away for moths now.

        • On Point

I think you mean months, but I totally agree.

        • Dixie Carter

Excuse me darlin’ but you look like a hack! You have no business talking about myself or my iconic company having Sting in the TNA Hall of Fame.

          • Capt.Dammit

sting wants out of your hall of lame dammit!

            • Dixie Carter

He is using that to his advantage in the WWE negotiations letting Vince know he was inducted into the flawless TNA hall of fame. To get a better contract

    • Scott

      Smart move.

    • Allen Massey

Ill Laugh now if this Smackdown moving to thursday nites is nothing but a big old rumor that was just that a RUMOR. and smackdown stays on friday because WWE would have to do some WWE Network rearranging as well. because i cant See if Smackdown moving to thursday’s that NXT and Superstars stays on thursdays because that be counter programming

      • Michael Carter

Yeah, I’d say this has more to do with the NFL on Thursday. Competing for viewers with the NFL is a death sentence.

        • sideshowRaheem

It’s both, Smackdown is defiantly moving. WWE didn’t rewrap their production trucks for nothing, it just hasn’t be officially announced yet because SyFy has yet to release their Fall schedule. Smackdown is by far the highest rated show on that network it would benefit them to move it do Thursdays.

          • Allen Massey

It was just one truck. i mean the only redux of the trucks was the logo change

If WWE was really moving SD to thursdays WWE would have announced it by now

            • sideshowRaheem

The logo change and the day. Why on earth would they rewrap one production truck with so it says Thursdays if they weren’t moving to Thursday?

            • Forceton Banfodder

Like I’ve said in the thread about the truck. I’ve worked with enough of these wrapping companies to know that the date could’ve been a huge typo and they didn’t have time to remake/rewrap the truck.

        • Allen Massey

TNA has Competed agains the NFL the last 8 years (While yes not everyone has the NFL Network on their cable tv’s) the games when their local teams are playing. those games are broadcasted on local Channels. so at least 2 markets a week had the games on tv

Plus TNA has had the nba to deal with as well. and they didnt make a move.

I think WWE called TNA’s bluff with the move to thursdays. Untill WWE Announces the move to thursdays and they need to do it now with 6 weeks before the Syfy Fall Season begins. to get people prepped Especially with the NFL Season already underway and college football Starts tonight as well i believe

          • Ayatollah of rock N rolla

Never has TNA NEEDED viewers as bad as they do now with the negotiations and what not

          • Patrick

I wouldn’t say they competed with the NFL..

    • Buzzard Follower

smart move but it wont be enough to save the company

      • brad

It is a smart move because they honestly don’t really have any other choice ,I mean Smackdown is going back to Thursday so they pretty much know that they were gonna get spanked.

      • corykraus

Nothing else needs to be said after this.

    • NXTAmbrose

Remember the first time TNA abandoned their thursday night audience in favor of having a “monday night war” with WWE and their rating plummeted. Expect the same thing this wednesday as this is such short late notice, their fans will tune in thursday expecting to see TNA iMPACT! only to have some tv series they’re not interested and wondering why TNA isn’t on lol.

    • Dixie Carter

I think it was better market research in that I wanted to give WWE a life line. Just saying, hey, if your forced to move to Thursday by the network. We will move to Wednesday, just so…you don’t end up destroyed and being axed like several other WWE shows because TNA is unstoppable!

      • K Dot

Thats what I thought this was

        • Dixie Carter

Exactly, we’re for the fans who decided and we listened! Enjoy TNA destroying Wednesday nights

          • Filthy_animals

The vaudevillians attract more viewers than TNA …. My new favourite tag team .

      • Follow The Buzzards

Tna would get destroyed by WWE

    • 5er

WWE should troll TNA by putting a sticker on that Smackdown truck that says Wednesday.

      • Herald

Doesn’t Main Event come on Wednesdays?

        • Rocketman

          On tuesdays.

    • wwetnadudez

Does this indicate that relations between Spike and Impact is getting better? I think Spike is helping save TNA ratings by moving them to a better night with little competition and perhaps this might be a part of a new deal between the two

      • Forceton Banfodder

This move could kill TNA ratings, so don’t hold your breath.

    • Shockmaster

The move makes sense with the NFL games being on Thursday nights on CBS now, and if Smackdown is moving to Thursday, too. It is a good move. I think Tuesday or Wednesday night is a better night anyway for wrestling. There are not a lot of big shows on those nights. Impact has been good lately, too.

      • Forceton Banfodder

Then why would the WWE want to compete with the NFL on two nights? That doesn’t even make sense.

    • I’ve Lost My Smile

Very smart move for TNA imo.
