Batista Speaks On Roman Reigns’ Star Potential, His WWE Return & More

The following are highlights of a new Chad Dukes Wrestling Show interview with Batista:

On Roman Reigns and The Shield: “I thought they were pushing him a bit too soon. The guy’s obviously, he’s a huge star, he’s gonna be a huge star. I feel like if they push him out there before he’s ready, it’s gonna put a fizzle on everything, man, I’d just hate to see that. This is just my opinion, but I think they should have kept [the Shield] together a little bit longer. Let ’em have that babyface run just a little bit longer.”

On returning to WWE as a babyface: “I’ll be honest with you, I just don’t want it. I love being a heel, man, you know that. That’s what I love to do, man. I think I’m the guy that people love to boo and I’m okay with that and I love being heel.”

“I’m the worst babyface in the history of wrestling. [Laughs] I’m just not good at it. When you do promos sometimes you gotta say things that people wanna hear instead of telling them things they should hear. You know it’s hard for me to be that guy always saying the politically correct thing. I just don’t like it I’m not comfortable with it.”

      Good we still have Bootista

      • Noah

The Bootista sh*t is getting old.

I agree with Batista, WWE is pushing Reigns too soon or at least a bit too hard. He’s coming off very forceful and it’s already stale. Rollins has always been my favorite of the three but now I would place Ambrose above Reigns.

      • JamieEvsxx

I totally agree I mean…as much as I love Roman it’s becoming like Deja Vu watching him…run in, beat people up for a bit…SUPERMAN PUNCH!…starts beating up people some more and…SPEAR!…then ROAR!…then there’s the odd occasion where he gets beat down…like I’m getting Cena vibes from him now and it’s just not good at all…I hope they calm it down a little because I just have this horrible gut feeling that he could end up like Ryback, fizzling out quickly because of bad creative decisions…=/

        • pwnez

It’s even worse because he has a name with ‘Superman’ in it.

          • JamieEvsxx

I know, that’ll automatically get haters to compare him to Cena…it’s not good, not good at all!…xS

          Reigns 2 moves of doom

          • JamieEvsxx

yeah it seems to be like that at the moment…=/

Batista was spot on here as he always is one of the best to ever do it ladies and gentlemen, I also agree on him being heel as well as Lesnar I mean they can pull off the face but they just have that mean guy heel ability to them.

    • Triple X

Didn’t he say he felt hurt when the WWE fans “turned their backs on him”? not even kayfabe wise

    • @ScottieRock28

      Dead freaking on.

    • JamieEvsxx

damn…Batista’s got a point…like just totally hit the nail right on the head…I hope WWE does calm down with Roman’s push a bit…I’ve got this horrible fear of him being like Ryback where the push and everything just completely fizzles out…and if it does happen then it’s a damn shame because I think he’s improved a lot since his debut and he does have the potential to be a great top guy…but yeah I think the best thing to do with newer guys is to start them off kind of small and see how they go instead of throwing them into the big leagues so quickly…I mean…look at the Ambrose/Rollins feud…those 2 guys have absolutely shined since The Shield split and I’m afraid to say that Roman hasn’t impressed me as much as these 2 have since the split…and you know what?…I’m actually gonna be a little bit sad when the Ambrose/Rollins feud is over because it’s been brilliant and I think if WWE keep up the good booking with these 2 and slowly build them up as singles competitors, they’ll definitely be successful top stars in the future…=D

Yes, the wwe is pushing reigns much too soon. . WM 32 sounds about right. Not a moment sooner. Poor reigns. Hope he doesn’t end up like sheamus. get yourself over and you’ll always be over(punk, bryan, ziggler). Forget wwe pushing you. Push yourself with awesome ring work, humility and flair like style. You’ll end up in the main event like daniel bryan.

    • essinodub

      He makes good points here

    • 10YearOldBoy

rollins and ambrose feud is doing great. Reigns is fine it’s not like he’s world champion right now plus he’s getting to work with some great main event talent to push him there to the top. Guys like Cena, Kane, Orton, HHH, Bryan, and many more.
