Bischoff Wants Jim Ross In TNA, AJ Styles’ New Character

Published On February 4, 2010 | By | TNA News

- Eric Bischoff is still intent on bringing Jim Ross into TNA as an announcer. After many months of speculation as to what he’d do when his WWE contract expired, Ross signed a short-term extension back in December and is expected to be with WWE through mid-2010. That said, the face of the pro wrestling industry is sure to change this year, with TNA likely going to Monday nights at some point, so who knows what the future holds.

- As we’ve seen in recent weeks on iMPACT!, Nature Boy Ric Flair has taken TNA Champion AJ Styles under his wing.  The basis for the storyline is that Ric Flair is the consummate World Champion. AJ Styles is a master in his own right inside the ropes, but Flair will teach Styles how to be a World Champion outside the ring – the women, the limousines, etc. TNA wants AJ Styles to be the kind of guy that stands out in a crowd, which is why they’ve been suggesting for him to bleach his hair blond.

Update: During a surprise appearance on RVD Radio on Wednesday night, Hulk Hogan talked about AJ Styles and said he’s got big plans for Styles’ character. Hogan said he can’t even reveal the “new name” for Styles’ character, but the TNA champm is going through a transformation right now that will unfold in the coming weeks. (RVD Radio Recap)

- When Rob Terry won the TNA Global Title on January 27th at a TNA live event in Cardiff, Wales, he was not told about the title change until the day of the show. Terry played the role of the local babyface and as noted before, his family were in attendance with TNA camera crews filming everything.

lol if Eric Bischoff thinks JR will come and work for him he’ll be very sorely disappointed.

  • K-Fist

Well I’ll give him credit for wanting to grab argubably the number announcer and the voice of pro wrestling for a little over a decade now, surely he knows it’s a pipe dream for them to get JR to join them. Unlike Hogan, JR still contributes positive things to the business, thus he’s not in TNA.

It sounds like they are trying to turn AJ Styles into another Ric Flair, there will never be another Ric Flair.

What is TNA expecting? What is Eric Bischoff expecting? I think he and hogan are making these public statements to keep their names on the airwaves. Someone should tell them that all this talk about who they want isn’t going to get them those superstars.

Let’s hope Hogan and Flair know what they’re doing.

that would be a good move to bring JR to TNA…but I doubt he’d go to TNA unless something went completely wrong in the WWE…and plus if AJ bleaches his hair blonde I might have to scream…it won’t suit AJ at all…he’ll look like a right twat…and plus Hogan can’t change the name of AJ Styles…that name is just too awesome to change…if he changes his name…I might have to scream twice…=P

  • K-Fist

Just like there will never be another AJ Styles. ;)

The Flair /Styles storyline is crucial to how well TNA does. if they hit the ground running with this it could make or break them on monday nights . if they turn Styles into a Nature Boy clone they’ll be shooting themselves in the foot

This just shows exactly what a generic glorified mid-carder Styles really is. Any time a wrestler has to try and tweak his image by copying someone else shows why he doesen’t have the charisma to make it to WWE – the fact that he needs an image overhaul just shows that he sucks, TNA is stupid to have somebody who was lucky to graduate from the independent high school gym shows as their world champion.. He may be a decent wrestler but he has zero charisma or name recognition, TNA will suffer until they send him back to the mid card where he belongs.

JR has been well misrespected in the WWE because of him having Bell’s Palsy and it would not surprise me in mid to late 2010 to see him in the main announcer’s seat in TNA

J.R is staying put in the WWE and I disagree with txtnt622 AJ is a good talent and VERY talented he’s just wasting his time if he has to Bleach his hair and all.TNA should bring in fresh new talent and recruit those in FCW or other INDY companies that are talented and if someone is doing a Flair Buddy Rogers type character then take that person under flairs wing not someone who’s made a name already and is suppose to be the maineventer and future of a company.Bring in that new face like a Desmond wolfe and really show them some of the ole school stuff to shape their characters.
