Brock Lesnar Offered A WWE Contract Extension, Lesnar vs. Taker News

WWE officials have offered Brock Lesnar a new contract, according to a report in the latest Wrestling Observer Newsletter

Lesnar’s current deal expires right after WrestleMania 29 and the company is eager to lock him in for another year. The new contract would be very similar to his current arrangement, which pays him several million dollars to work a very limited schedule that includes a few high-profile pay-per-view matches and several WWE television appearances in the weeks leading up to those fights.

It’s believed that Lesnar will not make a decision on the contract extension until the last minute, which is how he’s done business in the past.

Regarding a potential Brock Lesnar vs. Undertaker match, WWE officials are skeptical if it could ever take place, due to mileage on Taker’s body. That said, the two opponents WWE has in mind for Brock Lesnar in 2013-2014 are the Undertaker and reigning WWE Champion CM Punk.

that is a stupid move paying millions for the guy to work 3 nights a year sweet deal for brock though he would be stupid not to take it. i realy don’t see what they see in brock to me he is just like goldberg just another over hyped big guy they could hire 4 or 5 pontental stars to full contracts for what they are paying him.

    • mrchopper

They could hire four or five guys and Brock would still outsell them… That’s the business end of this matter.

    • Aiii

Apparently they already made that money back in sales. What, you think they would offer him the exact same deal if it was bad for business? That’s never been how Vince did business, and I’m sure he’s not giving his money away for nothing now.

      • comic_book_fan

hell if thats all that matters they could probly get sting for less and put couple of matches together and get major money from those as well and possibly better matches even at his age.

  • Bradley

I’d love to see Lesnar vs Bryan
I think this match could be something that no fans have ever seen before.

I just think that Lesnar should be used to solidify someone which Punk, Taker nor Triple H need.

  • mrchopper

If it wasn’t for Rock coming and taking Punk’s title away from him (which I’m pretty sure is the only reason he’s doing so many dates for the next few months), Taker vs. Punk in a streak vs. streak would be a great end to one of them. Taker’s a huge fan of Punk’s and I’m sure the feeling is mutual.

    • G.I.R.L.

Punk could use that win too, much more than Lesnar now that I’ve actually let it process.

      • mrchopper

It would certainly cement him as a legend. It’s weird, cos at the moment you have guys like Bully Ray and Hogan coming out in support of Punk, even though he’s not really been on top form since him coming back after the Chicago MITB. There’s still a massive amount of people who just don’t like him or get it, regardless of whether he’s heel or face. If he were to beat Taker’s streak… That would be absolutely unbelievable.

Alas, they’ll end up giving it to Ryback. Or Slater… A man can dream.

  • Lord Spliffmeister

Man Lesnar has the easiest job ever!!! XD I hate his schedule but u can’t knock him 4 the deals he’s getting,I mean who wouldn’t take it in a heart beat. Lesnar vs Taker >> HHH vs Lesnar

  • pwnez

Realistically Lesnar would destroy ‘Taker so i’m not crazy about seeing that. Lesnar vs Austin, Punk or Rock would be pretty cool though.

You can tell WWE is desperate for top stars; paying a guy millions of dollars for a few appearances. It’s sad if you think about it.

    • Fuzail Rashid

Realistically Lesnar would destroy punk as well .

      • pwnez

Punk at least is in good shape and has a martial arts background. Lesnar is just alot bigger but also has an MMA background too.

        • Peer Pressure

Good shape? Rey and Sin Cara who are the smallest dudes on the WWE roster, would probably whoop Punks ass in a real fight. Punk looks like a highschool freshmen when standing next to guys like The Rock and Cena. Taker vs Lesnar would be a way better choice than Lesnar vs Punk.

          • pwnez

‘Taker is in his 50s, not to mention his body is slowly falling apart. Lesnar would snap him in half. So you’re one of those guys who judges by muscle size, I see. Tatsu kicked Sheamus’ ass before and he’s much bigger in size. Jericho kicked Goldberg’s ass, need I explain anymore?

MMA fighters aren’t all that big, yet they kick ass for their size. You failed to make a point lol.

          • Peer Pressure

Tatsu, Jericho and MMA fighters are not as puny as Punk. Taker in his 50s is still in way better shape than Punk has ever been. If Lesnar would snap Taker in half, there is no telling what he would do to Punks out of shape ass. LOL! Nice try pal.

          • pwnez

Tatsu looks the same as Punk lmao. He may be a little taller but that’s about it. ‘Taker can’t even wrestle a full match without taking several rest breaks (prime example being his matches at ‘Mania 27 and 28.)

You’re just a hater of Punk so I don’t expect you to give him any credit. You still can’t make one valid point.

          • Peer Pressure

Tatsu is more muscular than Punk. LOL! Punk has the body of a homeless alcoholic. You’re right, I am a Punk hater, and you’re a biased indy fanboy, so this debate is pointless.

          • pwnez

I could always name you wrestlers on the indy scene who I think suck but you’d still call me an “indy fanboy” lol. At least they can wrestle unlike most of the big, muscular guys you fap to. Yep, pointless.

          • Peer Pressure

I fap to muscular guys who can’t wrestle, and you fap to overrated, talentless, scrubs like Punk. jajaja!

          • pwnez

At least the indy guys can wrassle ;) trolololmao

          • Peer Pressure

Sure, to you they can. ;) trololololmao

          • The Guest

Brock is on a whole other level. He destroyed pros like Mir and Herring. That makes him def legit. Lesner got hit by Mirnand Carwin clean and stilldidn’t go down. Punk has no chance in the world of taking Lesner. Comparing their martial arts background is stupid.

Combine that with the size difference and thw physical conditioning of the two, yeah, this match up would be absurd.

You don’t have to defend every comment. Some people are only here to trip you up. But you DO try to defend every comment and sometimes end up saying really stupid shit like the your previous replys.

          • pwnez

Nothing I said was stupid, it’s the truth. Just because you aren’t big and muscular doesn’t mean you can’t fight or defend yourself. Those who think that are ignorant to say the least. You only labeled what I said as “stupid” because you disagreed. Right?

          • Jervaughn Stewart

Taker is in his 40’s bro, he’s still old but it’s a big difference between wrestling in your 40’s and 50’s

          • pwnez

True but his body is in terrible condition.

          • Roger Penland

            ‘Taker is only 47…. lol

          • morrisonfanone

Edge was only 38 when he had to retire.

        • DigitalWWE

Undertaker has an MMA background too. He’s just old.

          • pwnez

No chance in hell ‘Taker would be able to keep up with Lesnar in an MMA fight. Not with the condition his back, shoulder, and knees are in.

          • kev1315

I would love to see taker vs brock but your right taker is in no shape, punk vs Brock would be a good match , punk has held his own against bigger men like ryback for example

          • G.I.R.L.

Ryback is not a professional fighter; just because he’s physically big doesn’t mean he’s good in the ring. Realistically, Lesnar would destroy Ryback; however, this is wrestling and were supposed to suspend disbelief.

Punk vs Rock and Lesnar vs Taker; that’s what needs to happen.

          • G.I.R.L.

But were not looking for an MMA fight; we’re looking for a wrasslin match. Lesnar would destroy nearly every top star in WWE in a real fight. I don’t see how saying Punk is a better opponent for him than Taker.

The last part isn’t directed at you, I’m writing in general.

          • DigitalWWE

That isn’t what I said though. You said at least punk knows martial arts What I said was Undertaker has an MMA background as well. Nothing more nothing less.

          • pwnez

I read what you said, I simply addes to what I said.

          • DigitalWWE

          • Fuzail Rashid

Only the big show and kane can compete with Lesnar in a real fight IMO . punk has no chance what so ever against Lesnar even with his MMA background . Even the rock would destroy punk in a real fight .

          • Ryan Gosling

Rock would destroy Punk? Lmao. What would he do? The People’s Elbow? Punk would knock him the fuck out with a roundhouse kick.

          • Fuzail Rashid

In a shoot fight . The Rock would kill punk . #Fact .

          • Bubba

Undertaker does NOT have an MMA background he has just incorporated a handful of MMA-type moves in has later years.

          • DigitalWWE

Undertaker is a trained kickboxer and a brown belt in jujitsu which is one belt below black.

        • Fuzail Rashid

taker is getting 300+ days off . he will be fine . i think people have overestimated his injuries . he proved that he can still can go in the ring when he stole the show at wrestlemania 28 . Brock vs Taker would be a Flat out fight and it will be a much bigger draw than punk vs lesnar .

        • wrestlingfansaredumbthesedays

A background in martial arts? Why, cause you just seen that picture of him in a white belt? Lol punk does not have a background in martial arts. Realistically, lesnar would destroy many. Realistically a triple threat with his past opponents triple h and cena, would be money, and be a good powerhouse match.

    • G.I.R.L.

Realistically, Lesnar would destroy all of the guys mentioned. Punk versus Lesnar is good, but Taker needs to end his steak and heel Lesnar is the man to do it.

    • BrahmaBullRKO

I keep saying that the best possible opponent for Lesnar (in terms of how a match would turn out) is Sheamus, and I will continue to say it until it actually happens.

  • Reality

I’ve always wanted a Punk vs Lesnar match. Punk would be such an underdog, and with Punk’s in ring style (the striking), we could see a very realistic fight between the two. Please, if Lesnar signs the extension, book that match! I don’t care who wins (probably Lesnar), the match itself would be awesome

  • Kris Mystery

I’m not so sure he’s going to be selling alot of PPV’s in the near future if he only does these few dates. WWE very rarely mentions him and so his name is never out there. He’s not fighting for UFC so again, his name is never out there. If they are going to have such a limited number of dates maybe they should spread them out better so at least he’ll always be on the radar. With newer (young) wrestling fans jumping on board (WWE’s target audience) they will have no idea who this guy is if he is missing for months at a time. Hell I’m hardly young and i pretty much forgot that he was still with WWE!!!

  • DigitalWWE

I really don’t want Lesnar back.

  • Bushwald Sexyface

They only have Lesnar and Punk in mind to face him? As much as I dislike Cena’s character, I still think it would be a huge sell to have Cena face Taker. I can’t believe they’re not considering it.

  • Realan

    What about Lesnar vs BATISTA?

  • Bushwald Sexyface

By the way, am I the only one that thinks Lesnar is not worth what they are paying him? Do you think they are getting the same amount of money from him being there as they are paying him? I don’t but maybe I am wrong.

    • Name Goes Here

You are wrong. Brock = buyrates.

      • Bushwald Sexyface

        Not 5 million dollars worth.

  • TheUndertakerFan

Everybody disses taker but they all know that he can beat anyone wwe puts in front of him and thats a fucking fact

  • elvisrivers

How about Brock VS the Rock? Oh yeah!!!

  • whos john cena

Only one way to find out if Taker could hang with Lesnar.

I personally am more interested in seeing Undertaker get into a huge storyline with John Cena. But CM Punk should get a match with him this year. I’m not invested in Brock Lesnar, I don’t give a shit about him at all to be honest.
Undertaker / CM Punk this year, and Undertaker/ John Cena for 30. Brock Lesnar shouldn’t be taking these spots imo. Undertaker/ Cena would be a hell of alot more interesting than him and Lesnar, seeing as how people are all invested in Cena whether they like him or hate him and Cena’s a work horse. CM Punk same way, both work horses. If it were me, I wouldn’t even have hired Lesnar. To effectively increase viewership with his presence he’d have to be there every week, and he’s not going to do that. I see him as a waste of Vince’s money. And trust me, Lesnar is getting a a shit load of it to make these appearances. WM will sell big with the Rock’s name alone anyway, and at least Rock is a guy you can trust. Rock is a part timer as Lesnar, BUT Rock is more loyal and his heart is in it for WWE. But whatever… it’s Vince’s money, he does whatever he wants.

Lesnar shouldn’t even be an option, he had one of the worst matches I’ve ever seen with HHH at SSlam. I don’t want to see Taker tied up with Lesnar on the ground every other 5 mins, and the same old boring shoulder tackles in the corner. That MMA style doesn’t belong at a WM stage with Taker, that match would be boring shit! And people would want more than that on that stage! Taker tries to give the best performance possible at WM, and they won’t get that with Lesnar. With Cena or Punk, at least you’ll get a back and forth hard fought match that doesn’t put the people to sleep like Lesnar did last year with HHH.

  • Thomas-24/7 (Mutascale)

Why can’t WWE offer Lesnar several appearances for millions of dollars?

And yes, pwnez, WWE is desperate for top stars. They could avoid by building their own stars more fluently, have their “big stars” frequently; doesn’t mean they have to wrestle everyday. Like Undertaker for example, WWE could have him rebuild the Ministry of Darkness, and have him manage it.

  • YES

  • Jason

I hate this idea but the only strong option left for Mania would be Taker vs. Cena. Guys like Punk or Lesnar wouldn’t even have that maybe they’ll win feel.

    • Jason

They would have the same feel as maybe Edge & Batista.. we all knew neither would win. Not the same feel as HHH or Michaels. Punk would be 3 steps back.

  • Jaden Ward

taker vs cena or brock actually would be a good match in my opinion, but punk hmm not digging it

  • alex

if he is working on a limited schedule is he going to keep saying that he is leaving wwe

  • currygoi

i remember that fantastic hell in a cell lesnar and taker had. oh man, i miss these days. gimmick matches were something special. screw you wwe and your stupid gimmick ppv’s!

  • alan

  • alan

I think WM 30, we will see Undertaker VS Brock. Brock is Not the only guy who is MMA but fights in WWE rings; remember Ken Shamrock, he was a legend in MMA. Undertaker Vs Ken Shamrock was good brock is just a big guy but he is not technical as Taker. Taker will take him out in wm 30 in his final match
