More Details On Referee Not Knowing The Finish To Undertaker vs. Brock Lesnar

As previously reported, WWE referee Chad Patton — who served as the official for the Brock Lesnar vs. Undertaker match at WrestleMania XXX — was not informed ahead of time that Lesnar was going to be defeating Undertaker during the bout. There is, however, some who feel that Undertaker or Lesnar may have tipped him off while they were actually in the ring.

Prior to the match, Patton was pulled aside and told to count to three, as if the match were a shoot, if either guy had their shoulders pinned to the mat. He was told that the only exception would be if Undertaker applied his “Hell’s Gate” submission, to not count Undertaker’s shoulders down while doing that particular move.

    • Wcwfe guy

This is soo fake!! The ref knew, they try to say, he hesitated!! Bullshit!! Even the commentators knew, if you listen to them, they are preparing you for what is about to happen… Does wwe honestly think, that in the day & age of social media, that lying to everyone will work…Ha!!

    • Jimmy

Dirt sheets say the darnedest things.

    • Fawaz

The ref was not hesitant at all in his three count. I saw the match again and he did a regular count.

      • Kuwabara

I saw the match and in my opinion that looked like a fast count

      • JuanCabrera

Yeah. Just saw the match again and you can see Brock Lesnar saying something to the ref right before delivering the last F5. Probably told him to count to 3 if he didn’t know to already.

      • Rob

Ik right, that was bs about the slow 3 count, no hesitation at all. That proves that this all thing is fake about him not knowing

    • threestakz

I was there and he looked confused as ever he even waved his hands as if he was waving the decision off…It was complete silence for a minute until lillian announced brock as the winner…in person the finish looked very awkward. ..but It was a shock

    • Johnny B Bad

As scripted as everything is in the WWE, you can’t tell me the ref didn’t know the finish. What’s it matter anyway, that has come and gone, same goes for CM Punk, who cares if he’s been spotted at a concert, or a airport.

    • Raihan Khan

evolution vs shield would be epic

    • Dude

I think when Heyman went in the ring and screamed OH MY GOD OH MY GOD YOU DID IT! The ref probably realized that Heyman was telling him he did the right thing.

    • J’vo

I saw it when Undertaker execute “Hell’s Gate”,seems he didn’t apply
that move with properly, check when he hold Lesnar neck with that
submission move,he not hold his neck or head with good, from this
move,i’m so sure that Taker will lose

    • Patrick

In a very rare situation like this, the ref should know if taker is going to lose.

    • RoyalHIGHness214

    • Shelly Dangen

As much as people want to believe it’s more the facts are, the ref knew who was meant to win. The two participants in the match knew who was going to win. It’s an act, rehearsed many times, if Undertaker was meant to win he would of won plain and simple. Short of Undertaker dying in the ring there are no unknowns, everyone involved knew what is what beforehand.

    • openyoueyes

Yeah the WWE put the success of their biggest event ever in jeopardy by deciding not to inform the stagehand jobsworth ref of the outcome. Yes, that’s what happened. NEXT.

    • Brandon Roberts

hey at least they gave us evoloution vs. sheild to help with the greiving process
