Edge Talks About Returning To WWE & His Most Recent Surgery

Retired WWE Hall of Famer Edge answered some fan questions on Twitter on Sunday regarding his career-ending neck surgery, returning to WWE television and more.

When asked whether his most recent neck surgery would allow him to step back in the ring again, Edge said no, it was to relieve pain and create a comfortable lifestyle for him.

Edge made it clear that he won’t be wrestling again, saying, “Doctors told me I’ll never wrestle again. I have 3 plates in my neck. That’s alot.”

When asked if he’s consider a return to WWE television in a non-wrestling capacity, he said it’s a possibility.

“Raw GM would still involve lotsa travel, which at this point still bothers my neck,” he wrote. “As I recover more, who knows.”

Why is it that some fans still can’t understand that Edge simply cannot wrestle again? Let the guy enjoy retirement. This is why the PG era gets so much blame; it’s because alot of fans can’t move on from the past. They expect to see guys like Rock, Austin, Edge, Undertaker, HHH, HBK, and Flair to wrestle forever.

People ask the question because they keep hoping the answer will be yes… if even occasionally. I really don’t see how the PG era fits in though… any era would ask the same question.

We hear fans clamor about how AE wrestlers should return and we’ve been hearing about this alot during the PG era. Fans hate change, which is one reason why it’s hard to get new talent over. They don’t want to see new wrestlers, they want to see the older guys even though their time is up or just about up.

This is why I feel that if you’re going to use an older AE wrestler, make them help put newer talent over. Guys like Edge, Undertaker, Austin and Rock won’t be around forever to string the company along. I agree, any era would ask the same question but we hear it more often now than ever before.

Most people know he won’t wrestle again… some are just hoping.

It’s because people have been conditioned to think that anything and everything could be an “angle”. I’m sure some people thought for a second that things like Jerry’s heart attack were not legit. The only thing I can remember that was so obviously not staged was Owen Hart’s fall. Even Punk’s shoot on Raw I could tell was a work right away cause there is no way that Vince and HHH would allow someone to go seemingly rogue like he did without approving it first.

Its the endorphins really. See even you, when you see Edge, the endorphins start rushing even a little. You remember that time he countered poetry in motion with a spear (or any of the many awesome spots Edge and crew gave us) and your heart races a little, mimicking a fraction of the rush you felt as you watched it happen live. It happens to all of us. When I saw this article the first thing that came to my mind was “DONT YOU FRIGGIN TEASE ME EDGE!” but in reality I don’t want him to come back. He left “on top” in a way. Because if he hadn’t been forced to leave because of the injuries. WWE would have milked him dry til we hated him. Heck at the end of Stone Colds run, I hated his guts. I wanted something new. And yet, during the 1000th episode of RAW, I was waiting with baited breath to hear the sound of breaking glass. Our brains can be our own worst enemy. So fickle. So picky. So hopped up on drugs.

Fans are very confusing. I hear people talk about how WWE should focus on new talent, young talent. But every single Edge interview that comes out it;s like “Hey by the way, will you ever wrestle again?” Move foward people. His neck is done. Let’s focus on new and upcoming talent now. So Edge is gone. Stop crying about it. It’s every wrestlers responsibility to leave something for the new generation to continue. By constantly asking if he’ll be back is almost like an insult. Yeah his career was cut short. But he had an amazing career. Do we really need Edge back fighting for a championship when so many people are starting to emerge and become players (Ryback, Shield, Cesaro, etc.)
