El Generico Competes Without Mask At NXT Show (Picture)

It would appear that the wrestler known as El Generico will be going forward without his popular character in WWE as he competed sans mask at tonight’s NXT event. In his debut match last month for the organization, he sported the mask and attire. The renowned grappler competed under his real name, Rami Sebai.

Here’s a picture of Rami Sebai competing at Thursday night’s NXT show:BEzG7-ZCQAEnl-l

Hey, I know some people don’t like this but change is good and whose to say that what made him popular on the indy scene would work on the main scene in WWE. Hope he does well in his WWE career

  • Wing

    Well there goes that…..

NOOOOOOOOOOOOO WAY, noooo way oh way oh way oh way….noooooooooooo wayyyyy….noooo wayyyyyyy-singing. good god

  • Spike_Spiegel

This is a bad move by wwe. But i guess we’ll have to wait and see what they do with him

  • fabian6sic6s

If he’s good with the mask, he’ll be good without it. Moving forward.

Isn’t almost WWE policy that independent wrestlers don’t get to keep their independent circuit names. This shouldn’t be a surprise to anyone. But then again it’s the IWC’s nature to B*tch about everything.

    • Dirtsheets Make it up

I love you mysterious fellow IWC sucks bro.

Glad to see kne other person not swinging from Dean Ambrose’s nuts…

      • SJP315

Ambrose IS the future if you can’t see that you don’t know talent

        • http://www.facebook.com/jacob.rael.9 Jacob Rael

          This is true

          • Bubba

            It’s DAMN TRUE!

        • MisterE

Ambrose is a mad man…I luv em! Crazy talented, my only gripe with him is his size, he won’t be able to pull off getting over guys like Big Show, Sheamus, Kane, Orton, Cena to name a few. Which is one of the reason I feel is holding back an incredible talent such as Ziggler. I’m not saying these two should be muscle bound freaks, but to a point where they can at least look convincing as a dominant wrestler. But whatever the case I totally agree with ya, Ambrose is the future…if the wwe continues on giving the guy a chance to shine.

          • SJP315

His size? What about Jericho, Eddie, HBK, Mysterio, PUNK, Danielson, ect ect…. Ziggler isn’t being held back, Vince is notorious for jobbing out guys with losing streaks when he’s about to give them the title.

          • MrJimmy

Ambrose is pretty tall though. He’s 6’4; the same height as Randy Orton, Sheamus and Triple H. He’s 2-3 inches taller than Cena. Granted, he’s not quite muscular, but I don’t think he has to be. He’s still a big guy despite being slim.

          • Stijnosb

true, but the whole problem is, cm punk is skinny to, and ziggler is a little small, so they indeed need to wait since they’re still building those 2

    • SJP315

Cm Punk, Steve Austin, Eddie Guerrero, Chris Jericho, Chris Benoit, Dean Malenko, Rey Mysterio…..do I need to keep going?

    • http://twitter.com/StrayXPunk Orestis

Being here and commenting yourself makes you part of IWC too.Deal with it, not every IWC is stupid. The whole IWC thing is getting boring and boring everyday. And you just keep on mentioning it.Which btw gives them trolls more time and ideas to troll about…

  • 7 year old boy

    Watch as the IWCtards explode!

  • Just FYI

The reason why WWE removed the mask was because they know exactly what I know. That the mask will not sell on a mainstream level. It looked ridiculous and the mass audience would never ever take that look seriously. Just looking at it alone, this look would automatically earn himself a partner in the comic relief section alonside Santino Marella and goofy Zack Ryder.

They can put anyone in a spot to be a serious character but they do stuff that’s not funny and ruin people who have the style to make it. But, I’m not saying that they ruined El Generico…Rami Sebai

  • Batman

From El Generico to Generic Wrestler in Trunks. How ironic.

    • http://www.facebook.com/jeremycounty Jeremy-County Roberts

now now, lets not go crazy yet. maybe his mask is in the laundry.

  • http://www.facebook.com/sin.cara.5439 XSin Carax

    not cool

  • http://www.facebook.com/people/Randy-James-Crawford/100001407556559 Randy James Crawford

    Maybe they are testing him with and without the mask to see if he can adapt;

  • http://twitter.com/SameOldNiceGuy Jason

Bitch Bitch Bitch. This all you little marks do when something doesn’t go the your way. you wanted.
    Grow the f*ck up

    • Guest

      >still using the word “mark” as an insult

  • Dirtsheets for the loss

WWE doesn’t care about wrestler’s goober loser indie gimmicks – they’ll take whatever raw talent they see in someone and utilize it into one of their own products.

    • SJP315

Nooooooo, they care about OWNING a person and their name to make money off them. Cm Punk refused to sign over his name, so did Rock, John Cena is John Cena, Kurt Angle is Kurt, ect ect so your statement doesn’t hold up

      • Dirtsheets for the loss

You listed 5 superstars out of probably. 250+ that went through this system. Nice 2%. Exapmle shmuck.

I hardly think wwe thinks the phrase “el generico” is worth $10M.

  • Kjhaltz

I think give a serious gimmick without his El Generico in the WWE is wise. Because face it he’d be a goofy santino like gimmick.

  • Bodacious Bob

This sucks. I was hoping he would join the Swagger clan as a white guy pretending to be mexican to take away lucha libre jobs.

    • …..

  • Stranger

I don’t like the sound of this. Personally, this just makes him look like another guy on the roster. I think he has a better chance of getting over with the mask, the OLE! chant, and at least a name like “Generico” or something.

I can’t see someone with a name like Rami Sebai becoming anything special.

    • Nicolas

Grow up, and you won’t see anything wrong with the name. You Pre-pubescent worm.

      • Stranger

I’m sure disliking a name for a TV character has nothing to do with one’s maturity.

    • MRods

I thought the same thing when i first heard ” HI I’m Dolph Ziggler”

  • http://twitter.com/HoodedBenjamin Benjamin

“Hey, so this guy has this really successful gimmick going that people all over the world love.”
“Let’s remove that entire gimmick and make him another generic guy in shorts! That’ll work wonders!”

There’s a reason the creative team is dropping like flies here.

  • Reality

I… I prefer El Generico… Damn what are they thinking? Well, I’ll wait and see.

  • backblack25

    I see why he wore a mask…

  • beatskeetskeet

    Future endeavored.

fuck NXT.AT least it is better than ROH.

  • eight_track

  • satishwarne708

Mask or not if he’s a awesome performer he’ll make it in fact loss of mask in some cases created legendary superstars like Conan and Alberto Del Rio.

  • JVroach

wow they couldnt have gone about this anymore wrong el generico is prolly the catchiest character in recent time and he woulda blown up wit that character now hes not gnna get any support from the fans…. watch

so i guess mason ryan is back in FCW

    • Stijnosb

yup, just like ryback it’s another nobody. and WWE should blame theirselves for pushing way to hard.

  • Eric!!!!!!

Did any of you idiots think the WWE is probably just trying different characters before they decide to market him! It’s the wrestling business, it’s been like like since the beginning of gimmicks! They try it out and if it doesn’t work they go to plan B!!
