Exclusive: Daniel Bryan Suffered A Concussion On RAW, Confirmed By WWE

UPDATE: A WWE spokesperson has confirmed to us that Daniel Bryan did in fact suffer a concussion on RAW.

Monday’s RAW saw Daniel Bryan break free of the Wyatt Family and lead the Dunkin Donuts Center in Providence, Rhode Island to one of the most electric “Yes!” chants of all time.

Unfortunately, we can report exclusively that Daniel Bryan was diagnosed with a concussion shortly after RAW went off the air.

Based on preliminary testing by WWE doctors after the show, it’s believed injury took place early in the steel cage match main event. In a sad twist of irony, we are told Bryan does not remember much about last night.

Bryan tweeted this afternoon:

Based on this news, it seems highly unlikely that he’ll be wrestling at tonight’s WWE SmackDown tapings from the DCU Center in Worcester, Massachusetts. No word yet on how long he will be out of action, but he is undergoing testing more today.

AWWW SON OF A BEEAAAAAAACH!…what is it with wrestlers and concussions these days?…first Ziggler, now Daniel Bryan?…this is not good, y’all!…=/

    • raVen

this is what happens when you hire meat heads who have no training and when you have one system for guys to learn rather than having different places to go.
this is what happens when you have a monopoly in pro wrestling. and most importantly, this is what happens when you are involved in the sport of pro wrestling

      • IKeepsit100

Your calling the Usos or Bray wyatt bad wrestlers? Your doing it wrong buddy

        • raVen

no sir, the meat head part refers to ryback. the lack of experience refers to the uso’s and bray.

I’m a big fan of the uso’s and think they have greatly improved, I also think that was the best match(s) Bray has had since coming to raw

      • Cujo999

I disagree. Concussions are inevitably going to happen in pro wrestling. It’s just that in the past, guys worked through them and nobody took them too seriously. Now, WWE is being very serious about them, and are erring on the side of caution on something like this that wouldn’t have raised any alarms at all back in the day.

        • raVen

so you agree. that’s what I said in the last bit. It’s a high contact sport and concussions will happen no matter what. I just think the lack of experience guys have now before being thrust into the fire makes them more common

          • Chris Pirolo

            you’re an idiot

      • Lefty McRighty

        Do not feed the troll.

      • http://twitter.com/JamieEvsxx JamieEvsxx

I don’t think it really matters where you train or who you’re in the ring with…yeah inexperience can cause injuries, but guys who have like years of experience can still get concussions…it’s just a wrestling thing in general…=/

        • raVen

as I said in the last bit of my comment..

          • http://twitter.com/JamieEvsxx JamieEvsxx

I was kind of referring to the parts where you were talking about concussions being caused by meat heads and inexperienced wrestlers…but yeah re-reading your comment again I realised you did basically say that at the end of your comment…=P

    • Some_Random_Guy

Are you saying that they need a helmet like Wes Welker?

  • Johrdann Miller

    • Charlie Swalger

      • Johrdann Miller

        no, just no.

        • tesninja

The Miz is to blame for this

          • Kevin G. Wolfe

Can’t we all just blame Zack Ryder and call it a day?

    • Vance

      Man shut the fuuck up.

      • Johrdann Miller

        bite my sh1te

  • Donny Octave

Oh COME ON! Well, sad to see ya go, Daniel! Nice knowing you. And before everyone starts taking a big ole sh*t on me, allow me to remind you of two names: Dolph Ziggler and Fandango. They were getting decent pushes but concussions ruined it.

    • Dan Kincaid Can’t sign In

They weren’t at the level he is at

      • Donny Octave

Still, WWE’s proven their track record, and plus I believe Fandango himself has said that when you work for WWE, DON’T get hurt, you will regret it. We’ll see later on, but right now i’m going by history

        • Cujo999

Honestly, Dolph didn’t really get buried due to his concussion, as they kept the strap on him while he was out injured. Dolph got buried because he got zero pop the night he returned from injury. Truthfully, DZ had nowhere near the support from the audience after he won the WHC as he did before he won it. It’s like everybody wanted to see him win it, and then after that, they just didn’t care anymore. Plus, guys who win a world title in WWE for the first time are pretty much always transitional champs, anyways.

          • pwnez

He also got buried because he couldn’t stop trashing the WWE. Punk trashed WWE and got pushed because the fans loved him and gave him massive pops every week. I’m a fan of Ziggler but the fans don’t care that much about him.

          • johnjacobjingleheimer

TBH, if anything this will delay the inevitable D Bry title run. But what ticks me off was that they could have simply thrown Bryan into the Rumble and had him win that, then win at Wrestlemania.

Nothing against the Wyatts, but why they had to pull a Vince Russo and stick Bryan in this stupid storyline to begin with is beyond me. They could have easily just set up a six-man (Bryan teaming with the USO’s) then, after Bryan’s team won, he could have gotten a match against Bray with Harper and Rowan banned from ringside. Bryan gets his revenge and moves on. No cage match, no concussion.

  • http://www.sescoops.com/ Mr 561

Wait until some of the other sites start picking up the story & WWE confirms it .. Don’t forget where you heard it first

  • http://www.rabidpictures.com yrabadi

The way Roman dropkicked Punk’s head last night during that awesome apron spot, I thought he’d end up with a concussion.

    • JordanZelisko

      That dropkick was insane!

  • piggypoopie

What if Bryan came back out with the Wyatt Family next week because he forgot he turned on them…

    • IKeepsit100

LMFAO that would be something i wouldnt mind.

    • Jack

      That’s hysterical

    • Bushwald Sexyface

Yep..you win the internet for today.

    • Buzzard Follower

you just blew my mind. ha

    • brad

That would be kind of funny but the same time it would be kind of weird and it probably wouldn’t make Vince or anybody behind the scenes to happy.

  • raVen

i will have to watch the match again but the only spot i can think of that he even took a head shot or a big bump is the double backdrop off the turnbuckle.
Hope this doesn’t keep him out, stop a push of any kind, or hurt the Uso’s who put on a heck of a showing last night

    • angry foodie

That was where it happened. His reaction to it was obvious and he hit his head pretty hard. I was worried the second I saw that spot, I knew it was bad.

Glad he chose his future over “toughing it out”. It was a big botch by the Usos in my view, the double backdrop (or suplex, whatever) should be banned.

  • Some_Random_Guy

I think that this should have lasted MUCH longer than a week or so, at least until Wrestlemania for the cage match that Wyatt was supposed to get anyway!

    • MohammadAbulawi

too many people were scared he would of lost his fan reactions

      • Some_Random_Guy

Hogan gained more when he turned heel and joined the nWo.
I still think he would’ve had a longer run until WM.

        • Donny Octave

That was then, most fan intelligence has shrunk since then, they dont know what’s good and what’s bad.

      • http://www.rabidpictures.com yrabadi

Doubt it. I think they just wanted to capitalize on him being a good guy for the two biggest ppvs of the year. That and that Michigan game. That’s mainstream appeal right there.

  • 9 year old boy

Now that made me sad :(

  • nelson

I wish the main event of WM30 would be Bryan vs Punk.WWE could make a really good story for the match.with bryan batista and punk the last three men in the rumble.bryan eliminated batista and punk right behind eliminating bryan winning the rumble.and then punk would turn heel to set their match at WM, maybe for the WWE title.

  • Puppet H

I sit here laughing at those IWC marks, let me rephrase that. I sit here laughing at those IWC marks who all of them hate HHH saying Byran got buried by his shovel.

  • mrchopper
  • scott

The way this man takes a beating on a nightly basis I cant say im surprised. But this is just unbelievably bad timing. I really hope he can go in the rumble

    • Tanner

He seems like more of a rag doll than any other superstar. Like I don’t see cm punk or john cena getting suplexed off the top rope or let alone getting a sitting power bomb from the top rope??? That’s just insane. Hope he gets paid enough for almost dying every night.

      • scott

I mean my goodness dude. He got absolutely tore up 3 weeks ago when he fought the Wyatt family. It was ridiculous. But the dude kept fighting and that’s why I respect him and hes the best. I really hope his pay has gone up. Because they know hes good which is why he has more 3 in 1 nights than any superstar probably over the last 5 years.

Update: A WWE spokesperson has confirmed to SEScoops.com that Daniel Bryan DID in fact suffer a concussion last night on RAW.

  • Jayden53092

man i haven’t watched raw since september since that whole triple h/stephanie/big show/daniel bryan storyline. is WWE better now and worth watching? if so, i got a lot of catching up to do.

    • astronautbutter

The Jake the Snake bit last week and the Daniel Bryan ending this week have made up for a lot. Plus, it’s Rumble season and that’s the best time to start getting into it again.

  • astronautbutter

I’m surprised Mysterio isn’t reported injured again. Looks like he mangled his fingers Sin Cara-style during his match. Fingers aren’t a major injury, but they did look rough when he took off his glove.

  • Kaylyn

Oh my God. A concussion that Ryback didn’t cause. It’s a miracle.

    • Bushwald Sexyface

Ryback causes concussions all over the world every time he breathes.

      • Kaylyn

He causes concussions by just thinking about the word.

  • Buzzard Follower

hope its not to serious it probably wont happen but i want Bryan to win the rumble

  • Whatsupbb415

Gosh I really like what Bryan is doing I would love to see him main event mania against Lesner!

  • http://www.rabidpictures.com yrabadi

Still no mention of this on WWE’s site. If it is legit, they must be trying to keep it quiet as to not effect his momentum. I hope.

Hope it’s not serious and hope it doesn’t result in him being off the Rumble card. What a shame that would be.

    • PunkFan#1

agree, I really want to see Bryan fight Batista in the rumble match

  • guest

Will there be heat on the Usos or whoever causes the concussions on Daniel Bryan now ?

  • Ares

That sucks ass that he can’t remember much :/ Hr did look a little “different” towards the end though. He looked intense as hell, which made it better IMO

  • 10YearOldBoy

Lucky nash wasn’t in there he would of torn his quad :p

  • Neckbeard the Pirate

Lol. All of you noobs really need to get a life, move out of your mom’s basement, and start watching some REAL wrestling. TNA! TNA! TNA!
