Goldberg Talks One Final Match, Steve Austin & Brock Lesnar

Former WWE & WCW star Bill Goldberg recently appeared on Washington DC’s 106.7 The Fan and spoke about the possibility of working for WWE again, still wanting to wrestle “Stone Cold” Steve Austin and his thoughts on Brock Lesnar. Here are some highlights of what Golberg said about:

Having One Final Match:

“It’s really tough for a guy like myself. Look at a guy like Animal. Look at Road Warrior. Look at guys who are big power guys. . . the older you get the harder it is to be that guy.”

He continued and said it’s very hard to maintain the muscular appearance that fans remember him for – and he doesn’t want to return and have a crappy match.

Still Wanting To Wrestle Steve Austin & Why It Won’t Happen:

“That’d be a dream come true… that’d be killer. I think at the end of the day they probably don’t trust me enough to put me in there with guys, considering I’m ‘a dangerous guy to work with’ and ‘I haphazardly ended Bret Hart’s career.’ At the end of the day these people have to understand it’s a violent deal, number one. Number two, accidents happen. And number three, that’s why I work in Japan — they don’t cry if you hit them …That’s a joke.”

He & Brock Lesnar’s Departure From WWE After WrestleMania 20:

“Obviously it was kind of unfinished business. We both left there under circumstances that weren’t the most favorable for anybody, let alone the fans who are the most important at the end of the day.”

His Opinion Of Brock Lesnar:

“Brock, as a young kid, he succeeded in every single thing that he did. To venture out and try to play professional football without having college experience — LaVar will tell you how hard that is. Big pat on the back to him for that. And then going to MMA and succeeding and becoming the World Heavyweight Champion. . . Whatever Brock wants to do, I’m in his corner. He’s a good buddy of mine and we talk frequently. I just hope at the end of the day whatever he chooses his health is in a positive note. We all know he’s had some issues over the past number of years.”

Although I was never a huge Goldberg fan he seems like a nice guy. His WWE run wasn’t good so i’m not sure if coming back for another match would mean much.

I could do without ever seeing another Goldberg match

Funny thing is i remember his saying on camera that he would never work for vince mcmahon again. I guess it gets pretty cold on the outside looking in.

Lensar said he would never go back too and the way he parted WWE w/ back and forth lawsuits you would think it was true. I doubt Goldberg or Brock are financially destitute and at the end of the day, time changes povs.
However, unlike Lesnar, I doubt they care to bring back Goldberg. He was made in WCW and VKM has never been that high on WCW guys as Goldberg’s time there reflects. Yes, he was world champ, but his build was just as mediocre as King Booker finally capturing gold in the WWE.

Jericho and big show are from wcw. Goldberg just isnt worth much. Once the streak ended he started to decline.

There’s a difference: they left the ship b4 it began to sink or I should say, while WCW were still a threat to the WWE. The other guys like Goldberg were rode WCW into the ground

I don’t want to see a match but I do want to see a spear to Cena. No wait, scratch that I would rather see a spear to Sheamus.

The “Goldberg” character gave me a social childhood with my friends. We argued and fought over WCW & WWF characters. So, I would love to see Goldberg return, just so I can argue with my friends again.

I’ll credit Bill for saying he’s a dangerous guy to work with.

I don’t see Goldberg coming back for one last match, unless it was against somebody like Undertaker or John Cena at a WM. Elsewise, there’s not much logic in having him come back and do more than just some occassional appearences like the other retired vets and legends do every so often.

    Cena sucks!

He doesn’t want to return and have a crappy match? Did Goldberg ever have a good match? About 90% of his matches were him taking a couple shots, spear, jackknife, pin. Goes without saying that those aren’t “good” matches.

Typical cena match 10 years later
