Jim Ross Blog: Triple H vs. Brock Lesnar, Glenn Beck, Donald Trump In The WWE HOF

WWE Hall of Famer Jim Ross has updated his blog, which you can read in its entirety at JRsBarBQ.com. Here are some highlights of what JR said about:

Glenn Beck not appearing on RAW: “I did not miss Glenn Beck not appearing on RAW. As I’ve said, I’m not a political animal and I hadn’t even heard Glen Beck’s name mentioned since he exited CNN. I’d suggest that Beck got more publicity over this WWE business than he has for any thing else that’s happened in his career except when Bill Maher occasionally makes fun of him on Maher’s HBO show.”

Donald Trump in the WWE Hall of Fame: “Amazes me how some who follow me on Twitter @JRsBBQ or hit our Q&A section of the site can differentiate a WWE HOF induction for a celeb from an active participant. Donald Trump going in the ‘celebrity wing’ is essentially an honorary award and should not be confused with someone like Bruno or even a broadcaster like Mean Gene Okerlund. However for some reason there are many who feel that Trump is going into the WWE HOF over say, for instance, Macho Man Randy Savage, etc. That’s simply NOT the case but many refuse to want to understand this matter. BTW Donald Trump made many contributions to WWE including WM’s 4&5 and his involvement in the hair match with Mr. McMahon at WM23 did huge business.”

Triple H vs. Brock Lesnar: “I am hopeful that HHH vs. Lesnar is a major part of WM29 and I have NO issues with this or any other viable match being a ‘return’ contest. Those that have issues with big time matches having a second go around have issues that I honestly can’t fully fathom. I can’t think of too many, major WWE main events that haven’t had a return match with the exception of a small handful. This concept has been around since before I got in the business in 1974 and is a viable part of the fabric of what sports entertainment is.”

Think of it like this: Wrestlemania has several big matches lined up
    Rock vs Cena
    HHH vs Lesnar
    Del Rio vs Swagger

We’ll likely also get Punk vs Taker and things are building towards a Sheamus vs Barrett match maybe? The shield will likely face off with someone and Jericho vs Ziggler looks highly possible. I just named about 7 likely matches and none of them feel like filler matches to me. Could be a great card.

    • HHHsucks

Every year “could be a great card” turns into “what a waste of matches”

      • wizardofwrestling

Let’s just hope we don’t have over half the card done within the first hour of the show like last year

    • wwetnadudez

I actually don’t think Punk/Taker will happen, doesn’t seem right to build a high profile match like that in just 5/6 weeks I mean it’s possible but I think WWE missed the best time to start which would have been last week or even this week.

Taker and Triple H built their match up in 4 weeks with a week to spare

Maybe it’s just me, but JR seems a bit upset or annoyed in this post.

Because of the smartasses in the IWC who think they understand the wrestling business like JR does.

Yeah, Return matches are ok, but not at the big stage. Have a return match at Summer Slam or Royal Rumble. I’d have much prefered Cena winning off Punk before rumble, Rock then beating him then it being Rock vs Punk at WM29, with probably Cena taking on Taker. You can’t just have a rematch from the year before and expect it to mean as much just cause it has the WWE title on the line.

    • BOOCH

So are you implying that these matches should’ve only happened once at Wrestlemania?

Rock vs. Austin Wrestlemania 15, 17, and 19.

Undertaker and Kane Wrestlemania 14 and 20

Triple H vs. The Undertaker Wrestlemania 17, 27, and 28.

  • I Believe

I have no problems with return matches, it’s when the original match was all hype with no good pay off that gets a return match that I have a problem with.

    • LueHaakon

Add in the fact that EVERYONE knows who the winners will be – in ALL the return matches.

  • G.I.R.L.

J.R. telling it like it is. I agree with everything. My only concern was the return match but the opening of RAW made it feel natural and hopeful. I just don’t fancy that we can already determine two match outcomes in HHH/Lesnar and Rock/Cena; of course, this would be ignored as the matches are in progress and i expect the matches (especially HHH/Lesnar 2.0) to deliver. Still, I’m patiently anticipating some sort of surprise that will hit us like a platinum brick.

true fans will not go home happy this year with Cena going over and HHH going over as is obvious. vince shoving his favorites down our throats again

  • OhNo

It’s going to be The Shield vs Randy, Team hell no. Pretty obvious since Orton has run into them the last few weeks.

  • ManOfThePlan

I’d love to see a Triple Threat TLC match classic, it will steal the show, Team Hell No vs Kofi & R-truth vs Rhode Scholars. Why not?

Nobody is saying “no return matches.” We just don’t want to see Cena/Rock 2. It wasn’t that great the first time. On the upside, C/R 1 won’t be hard to top.
