Paul Bearer’s Family Signs Off On CM Punk Urn Storyline

In recent weeks, we’ve seen deceased WWE manager Paul Bearer’s urn incorporated into storylines and used in CM Punk’s WrestleMania 29 feud with The Undertaker.

CM Punk has been pushing the envelope with the the memory of Paul Bearer, interrupting The Undertaker’s tribute to him, implying that the urn contains Paul Bearer’s ashes, impersonating Paul Bearer’s voice and even dropping the urn on the floor while tossing it around.

According to, everything we’ve seen in recent weeks since Paul Bearer’s passing has been approved by his family. WWE’s creative team approached Paul’s family immediately after his passing and asked for permission to incorporate Bearer into the Punk-Taker storyline.

Paul Bearer’s son Michael told that the family had no problem signing off on the idea, because they know he’d appreciate being part of a storyline from the afterlife:

“We felt that dad would have wanted us at RAW last week and agreed to the angle … We knew Dad wouldn’t have wanted it any other way.”

The detractors can now calm down about it with the excuse of his family not approving. It’s this envelope pushing as to why I’m enjoying this angle so much.

I think Paul would be proud to know that even in his death he i creating one last great storyline

I just hate the urn part. As if pauls ashes are in there…and punk playing basketball with it LOL. I find it funny but i’m just weird. Good storyline either way.

    • GodsLoyalSon

Like Paul Heyman said a long time ago people demand the attitude era to come back and when given a taste, they can’t handle it

      • Vince

That’s the IWC for ya…doesn’t know what they want.

  • Oliver_Twisted

I remember a little while back someone said they should use a hologram of Paul Bearer at WM, and I said the Undertaker should carry Paul Bearers ashes in an urn. I got a ton of down votes and crucified by other people who replied to my comment. Looks like I was on to something after all.

    • GMpunk

Paul Bearer should return like Tupac at Coachella last year!

  • Forceton Banfodder

Anyone want to keep bitching that this storyline is disrespectful to Moody’s family?

    • Kayne Corey

They’re going to just keep silent or vote down all of the comments on here. lol

  • Y2J

^ You read that? Now all the people butt hurt about this storyline can go sit down somewhere.

  • Smith

All I’m going to say to the people that were arguing with me over this is, HA.

  • Hershey Maxwell Barber

No surprise here. Hopefully this discussion can now rest…in…peace…

Since the Deadman gimmick started with Paul Bearer, I think it should retire after WM, just my opinion. On another scenario, this storyline is making WrestleMania interesting, because by WrestleMania, people will be looking forward to CM Punk getting his ass kicked. Plus, this storyline will make the fans go pro-Take and con-Punk.

    • Don

It didn’t start with Paul Bearer; however Paul Bearer had a HUGE part in it’s success.

      • Thomas-24/7 (Mutascale)

Earlier in the Undertaker’s career, it started with Paul Bearer. I believe Brother Love managed Undertaker for a short time, before Paul Bearer managed the Undertaker for a majority of his career.

  • TrueFan

Now everyone who was against whining and complaining and getting sick to their stomachs.. now suddenly approve it? lol

  • Reality

I never was against the idea of using Paul for this. I just found it distasteful (not the first week, just the last one). What I hate about it is Punk’s credibility to win at Mania being flushed down.

  • 5er

I’m sure a little money was passed along too. That always helps with ‘approvals’.

  • Shucky Ducky Quack Quack

    Money Money Money moneeey!

Where are the bitches at now? That’s what I thought. Sit your asses down and suck on it.
