Plans For Rey Mysterio & Sin Cara Headed Into WrestleMania 29

Published On September 6, 2012 | By | WWE News

On Monday’s RAW, we saw masked luchadors Rey Mysterio and Sin Cara join forces as a tag team. According to a report at PWInsider.com, WWE is looking forward to having the two superstars wrestle each other at WrestleMania 29 next April.

WWE originally planned a Mysterio vs. Sin Cara match at WrestleMania 28, with the idea being that WWE would hand out Mysterio and Sin Cara masks to the audience and set the Guinness World Record for the most masks worn in a public gathering. Both wrestlers were injured prior to the pay-per-view, which put those plans on hold. WWE has not given up on this spectacle.

The Mysterio & Sin Cara pairing is also being done because Mysterio is not 100% healthy right now and they want to use Mysterio to strongly endorse Cara, get his fans to follow the young grappler and pass the torch to him as WWE’s next great Mexican hero.

There is a good chance Mysterio and Sin Cara will win the WWE tag titles prior to breaking up and wrestling at WrestleMania 29. Current plans call for the Prime Time Players to get a run with the gold, which would lead to Mysterio & Sin Cara chasing them this fall.

WWE’s fascination with setting the “Guinness World Record for the most masks worn in a public gathering” is stupid.

I’m really looking forward to Rey Mysterio vs Sin Cara. I just hope both men can stay healthy until ‘Mania.

Yeah I think they’ll put on a great match match. And its good for sin cara being a luchador style match. It just sucks sin cara cant seem to adjust to the rest of the roster.

Yeah, they’ll have a great match together. Tagging with Rey for the time-being can definitely help Sin Cara out alot in adjusting to the “WWE style”. He seems to be working quite well with Rhodes lately aswell.

I want to see Rey Mysterio vs. Sin Cara!

Mysterio vs Sin Cara would be nice to see. Cara has been improving lately which is a plus. They could definitely put on a good match.

i dont want to cause problem but this match will be epic if they’re allowed to go 100% luchador.

      • Yunggesus

You are right. It’s sad to see sin cara dumbed down to WWE style.

  • DigitalWWE

I’ve always wanted Rey to turn heel then beat John Cena with the WWE Championship.

Maybe I could be the only one here, but for some reason, I really want to see Mysterio & Cara as Tag team Champions. I mean seperately they got enough for a fan base, together they make the crowds/kids more interested, and with the E wanting to make the Tag Division mean something, now would be the time to put this team as champions, to make the belts more meaningful in the eyes of the people.
Hell they can even have a match at Mania as the tag champions much like Rey did with Eddie all those years ago when they were Tag Champs.

Sin Cara and Rey Mysterio vs Kofi Kingston and R-Truth from the tag team title that sound pretty awesome

Well my comment seems invalid now since someone agrees with me.

Mysterio and Cara as a legit tag team is a great idea. They actually look and feel like a real tag team. Things may just be looking up in the tag division after all.

  • KANE!

they good as a tag team imo. Cara is improving, this will be a good match if it goes ahead.

Makes a lot sense considering Sin Cara speaks little English or is poor at it they don’t let him talk so Mysterio can talk for the both of them in English or translate if they have Sin Cara speak in Spanish. I have a hard time seeing them turn either guy heel though for such a Wrestlemania match. More than likely I see them being tag champs and facing each other to see who is the better man and both being faces a la Eddie and Rey back at WM 21

  • BrahmaBullRKO

I don’t care for either of them, but they could still put on a great match together. Plus, if I am gonna go to Mania next year, I’d love to get a free mask.

I like it but it’s not easy on the tongue. Imagine the announcers trying to say that multiple times.

  • Stranger

I’m fine with this, but I’m sure the Prime Time Players as the tag team champions will be boring.

I’m sorry.. but the tag titles aren’t gold. So you mean the Prime Time Players will get a run with the Bronze!

  • GingerJewJew

Rey/Sin Cara vs Tyson Kidd/Justin Gabriel will be EPIC!!

  • Big-Daddy_Death_Bringer

how odd is it thateverytime i make something in a wwe game, it actually happens? svr 2010 i broke up cryme tyme & turned shad heel, then cryme tyme breaks up & shad turns heel! imake brock lesnar in svr 2011, brock lesnar comes back! i make a tag team out of rey & sin cara (video proof @ my youtube channel, BradleyTheMultiKing) & now rey & sin cara are a tag team! WTF?!

maybe you should be the wwe head writer of raw or sd lol

  • Stoops Nic

Great idea. Rey can get him over to the kiddos and he can be their Mexican cash cow for the next 5+ years. Better start speaking English though.

  • BestintheWWW

I know Rey is still recovering, but I gotta say, he looked fucking awesome last Raw. It was like watching any one of his matches over the last few years on fast-forward. I love to see those two working together as well.
