Raw Draws Its Lowest Rating In Over 15 Years, This Week’s ‘The JBL & Cole Show’, Del Rio and Rodriguez In Chicago

– Monday’s Christmas-themed episode of Raw featuring John Cena vs. Alberto Del Rio in a Miracle on 34th Street Fight and a Santa Claus injury angle drew a 2.2 cable rating, which marks as the show’s lowest rating of 2012 and in over 15 years. The last episode to draw a figure that low was the September 8, 1997 show, which featured Triple H vs. Savio Vega vs. The Patriot in the main event.

As reported earlier, Raw averaged 3.167 million viewers over the course of two hours, down from 4.23 million the week before for a show that drew a 2.9 cable rating. Hour one drew 2.94 million viewers, hour two drew 3.271 million viewers, and hour three drew 3.219 million viewers.

– This week’s The JBL & Cole Show, is now online, which features appearances from multiple guest stars. The synopsis reads, “Okay, so JBL doesn’t actually fire Michael Cole (we think), but this week’s episode is jam-packed with hilarity and guest stars. No. 1 ranked tennis player John Isner talks greatest Superstars of all time, The Great Khali learns to Tweet, Yoshi Tatsu learns to TOUT, and – oh, yeah! – “Mean” Gene makes a special appearance. All this and more on the latest episode of “The JBL & Cole Show!”

– Alberto Del Rio and Ricardo Rodriguez are signing autographs today at The Boost Mobile on 5718 W Fullerton in Chicago, Illinois 60639 from 3:00 to 5:00 p.m.

It is not surprising. You had the WRESTLERS singing their own christmas carol. This is the type of shit that stops me from caring about WWE these days.

    • http://twitter.com/AJCampbellNYG Andrew Campbell

That was embarassing to watch. I know it was Christmas and everything but still.

    • cenasucks

It isn’t surprising however 2.2 is terrible. It’ll go up next week, however 3.0+ is a pretty hard figure to reach now. It was Christmas however the quality of a show like raw shouldn’t be that degraded…not that it isn’t degraded already.

    • IKeepsit100

i will tell you what…the fact that it was taped is one big reason why people who watch it via internet illegal websites just wanted it later on in the week. Same goes for smackdown and other taped shows. It’s aired early then watching later.

    • Trouble

It was like watching a kids show. It use to be who ran over Stone Cold, now it’s who ran over SANTA. Plus terrible acting by Booker and Cena. It was so shitty and GAY.

      • tpowers06

i was thinking the same thing

    • liljimmy

Its not too far for wwe to start competing with tna for the 1.2 rating lolololol

    • http://www.facebook.com/people/Clare-McFadden/505577415 Clare McFadden

I know it was corny but it was actually quite funny, because these “big muscled up wrestlers” aren’t the sort of people you would expect to see or hear singing on any video let alone a Christmas video it showed their human side. It wasn’t entertaining but it was funny… big HUGE plethora of a difference. funny is not the same as entertaining, for something to be entertaining it has to be fulfilling, for something to be funny it… well obviously it has to make you laugh. Personally, I thought Tribute to the Troops was WORSE than Raw, am watching Smackdown just now… boring…

    • cappa37

Dude quit being so melodramatic. The fact that you are on a dirt sheet website that’s 90% about WWE and their wrestlers tells me that you care very much about WWE. Was it a bad show? Oh my god yes! I wanted to punch my tv screen. But will I (and you) watch again, absolutely. Don’t kid yourself.

      • TreyDay

I’m also on spoiler and dirt sheets to read the news. Doesn’t mean ppl acually tune in to watch Monday nights. I am here to read the latest gossip because it’s more entertainment than the show itself.

      • Pozessed

I didn’t actually state that I’m going to quit watching WWE. I said that this is the type of crap that stops me from caring about it… Meaning that I am gradually losing interest and care in WWE due to shows they did like last weeks.

Between that and TNA it EMBARRASES me to be a wrestling fan.

    • tiran66

Agreed. I turned it off when I saw the wrestlers singing and just flipped the show on and off while doing the Christmas thing hoping to see something worth watching. I have to admit I was pissed when I saw Santa get run over. I knew he would come back later for a feel good moment but WWE is PG, there were kids watching, they didn’t know. And what’s worse most kids would be in bed by the time Santa came back out. So they went to bed thinking Santa got hit by a car. Way to go WWE. From what little I saw I’m not in the least surprised how shitty the rating was. Absolutely terrible show.

  • steve

Everyone tuned out when they saw the masked luchadors singing a horribly-customized Christmas song. Or…maybe it was just the fact that it was Christmas Eve…who knows…but the rating is no surprise..

  • HRMA

  • fan

It was Christmas eve for crying out loud! maybe people were busy with family don’t you think??? And still idiots on here want to act like it was becuase of the product? WTF!!!
Not to mention it was taped so people were able to find out what happened before hand. Of course ratings were gonna be bad this week.

    • http://twitter.com/ZackStinson Zack Stinson

Your the same idiot who was trying to defend the TTTT Event too. You might as well add “boy” too you name because that’s what you are. In the past 15 years there have been episodes on christmas, and christmas eve, and they never drew a rating this bad.. You know why?.. IT IS because the current product sucks ass. They spent most of the show with a santa clause angle. They completely stopped with storylines for a whole week.. And yeah you can say it was christmas eve, but ratings have been down for weeks now. If you honestly enjoyed this weeks episode you need to have you brain examined.

      • http://www.facebook.com/profile.php?id=100001177411091 Seth Bob

If you enjoy something I didn’t, you’re dumb! How elementary & immature.

      • Thom

    • The Guest

What about the other Christmas time shows for the past 15 years?

Tapings don’t have much of a bearing on ratings, it’s been proven. It was literally a show geared towards children with NO importance on storyline. It was a “throw away show”, much like Tribute to the Troops. The show, like TTTT isn’t relevant in regards to future storyline progression.

      • Hellaluyeah

True to the “show geared towards children with NO importance on storyline”, but the show sucked anyway. If you’re going to do a throw-away show, fill it with some repeat nonsense (rematches from the week before and other fillers) so your writers can come up with new material for the new year. But this was terrible in many ways, especially since it looked like the writers put a lot of effort into producing this crap.

  • http://twitter.com/hellson916 Nelson Carvalho

who is wwe going to blame?!
    hmmm maybe santa?!
it was taped the week before and then it was only for kids to watch. i bet the grown ups changed the channel because they didnt want to see a kids show.
    that was pathetic.
i dont care the show was a christmas themed. if they want to make so badly a kids show let them do it but put raw aside because thats bullsh*t.

    • http://twitter.com/JamieEvsxx JamieEvsxx

no, they’re going to blame The Miz…=P

      • http://twitter.com/hellson916 Nelson Carvalho

        ahah probably.xd

      • http://twitter.com/hellson916 Nelson Carvalho

maybe the excuse wwe will give is that a lot of families were together having dinner instead of watching wwe.

        • http://twitter.com/JamieEvsxx JamieEvsxx

probably, I mean it could actually be part of the reason as to why the rating was shit, but I think the main reason was that the show was shit itself, although I’ll admit I lol’d when Alberto ran over Santa and Ricardo and Darren Young were crying about it…=P

          • http://twitter.com/hellson916 Nelson Carvalho

the only thing i liked was the cm punk promo.thats it.the rest was crap. XD

          • http://twitter.com/JamieEvsxx JamieEvsxx

            yeah true…it was a corny show as a whole…xD

          • http://twitter.com/hellson916 Nelson Carvalho

lets hope that wwe improves.but since christmas is over i think they will go back to «normal».

          • http://twitter.com/JamieEvsxx JamieEvsxx

yeah, hopefully it should be a bit better now…plus with the Royal Rumble coming up and Rock returning soon let’s hope it’s a little more interesting…=P

  • MalaysianInvasion

hahahaha i am waiting for it to reach a 1.9 rating or something close to that!! i was a wwe fan but they have shitty programming now..

    • http://www.facebook.com/people/Clare-McFadden/505577415 Clare McFadden

you gotta believe that when that happens VINCE will be the one hooked up to one of those telemetry machines for real and not just some corny thing that plays Jingle Bells either!

  • http://www.facebook.com/dan.kincaid.7 Dan Kincaid

It’s a pre-taped, 3 hour, holiday-themed episode airing on Christmas Eve, of course it drew a low rating. This wasn’t exactly meant to be a 5 star show. Everyone chill

    • http://twitter.com/ZackStinson Zack Stinson

Lol lets be honest, no shows are 5 stars anymore.

      • DAX

Yeah but now it approaches negative values. RAW sucks. I WANT WRESTLING TO BE FUN AGAIN!!!!

    • that guy over there

they had pre taped shows back then on christmas eve too and they never drew this low

  • http://www.myspace.com/parcaleste partci

“Raw Draws Its Lowest Rating In Over 15 Years”… AGAIN.

  • http://twitter.com/AJCampbellNYG Andrew Campbell

“RAW draws its Lowest Rating in over 15 years” seems to be a weekly headline on wrestling news sites these days.

It’s not surprising though. It was one of the worst RAW’s I’ve seen in a longtime. Regardless whether it was Christmas Eve or not, a 2.2 is never good.

  • that guy over there

back then WCW got their ratings but this time the only reason is that they have a shitty ass product and they didnt even show santa getting run over by the car they just show him falling next to the car that was so stupid

  • Reality

Nothing surprising here. Kindof a stupid show. If you want to do a christmas theme show of such poor quality, don’t choose Raw.

  • My arms hurt

I don’t know where else to post, so I’ll do it here. I figured out how to turn John Cena into a heel without it affecting his character. Make him a villain in a movie, but keep him a good guy on tv. That is only way WWE would ever allow John Cena to be a villain again. I think it would be a good way to see if him being a heel would work well after all this time, if it does work well they can turn him into a heel on tv and make things interesting again. Thoughts?

    • Hellaluyeah

Another idea. Drop John Cena altogether. Nobody cares about him anymore. He’s accomplished enough. He needs to get out and wrestling needs to move on.

  • http://www.facebook.com/jeremycounty Jeremy-County Roberts

Right when i saw that stupid santa angel at the start of the show I turned off raw and went back to watching A Christmas Story.

  • http://www.myspace.com/parcaleste partci

Santa is the worst draw ever. ;(

    • Peter Griffin

Santa = no ratings Peter Griffin= Ratings

      • Name Goes Here

        Santa played by Peter Griffin…?

      • http://www.facebook.com/people/Clare-McFadden/505577415 Clare McFadden

Homer Jay Simpson = ratings Santa = EPIC fail Peter Griffin = WHO???

        • http://twitter.com/JamieEvsxx JamieEvsxx

Peter Griffin = Who?…come on, surely you’ve seen Family Guy!…xD

    • DigitalWWE

Dunno Santa got like the biggest pop of the night when he opened the show.

  • wwetnadudez

Well it’s not just that it was Christmas eve thats for sure because it was still the lowest in 15 YEARS. Maybe if you don’t open the show with a ridiculous angle and continue the show with even more ridiculous things..then who knows.

  • Rhawk

Is it wrong of me to actually want this trend of low rating to continue? Maybe they’ll care enough about their product to do something more, I don’t know, interesting?

  • 7 year old boy

I am even embarassed to say I watched part of that crap show.

  • Really?91

I’m really trying to be a loyal, dedicated fan of WWE for the great years of wrestling and entertainment it “did” bring me, but my patience is running thin and my fast forward button is wore out.

  • http://www.facebook.com/profile.php?id=100002196281205 Kenneth Anderson Jr.

Lol if it drops below 2.0 or 1.5 you can guarantee Vince is gonna give as much money as possible to Rock, Lesnar, Stone Cold, HHH, Batista and some others to go full time again. LOL Batista’s first promo’s gonna be “See? I told you if i quit the show would get so bad you’d stop watching”. But foreal, Vince, that felt like Saturday morning Slam than Monday night Raw

    • Peter Griffin

lol xD that would be so great Batista coming and saying he was right all along

  • http://twitter.com/JamieEvsxx JamieEvsxx

think it works both ways with the shit rating, the fact it was Christmas Eve and it was a pretty bad Raw…I mean, I don’t usually watch Raw until Tuesday anyway but because of Christmas and all I’ve literally only just watched it, same with TTTT…so there could be some people who’d rather chill with their family and friends on Christmas Eve watching Home Alone or whatever than watch Raw or just saw the WWE Carol and Jolly Old St. Mick (and yes, I meant Mick) being runover by Alberto then thought “Fuck it, let’s watch Home Alone or something”…either way, people were watching Home Alone or something instead of Raw…xD

  • arcade_arson

i didn’t catch raw this week after last week abysmal show, i cant blame anyone for not watching this weeks raw there was nothing to call “entertaining” last week to warrant to watch this week

  • DigitalWWE

It doesn’t matter. It was a holiday episode. It was going to get low ratings anyway because of Christmas. And I personally didn’t hate Raw. It was a fun show. There was no storylines or anything just fun. If people stop being so judgmental and hating everything and just enjoy it was. You either hated the show or liked the show. I liked it. It was fun.

    • Hellaluyeah

No it wasn’t. It wasn’t fun. Maybe for you it was, but not for me. Not trying to be judgmental or hating or anything along those lines. It just wasn’t fun.

      • DigitalWWE

And that is fine. It wasn’t a Raw for everyone. Like I said, it was a love or hate Raw. It was a Raw that meant absolutely nothing. No storyline progression. They expected it to get low ratings anyway so they just made it mean nothing. Not liking it is fine. But people act like they expected Brock Lesnar to make his return on this show.

  • Kozawsky

WWE should have expected this, like i stated before it was a light-hearted show, but i think they let loose wayy too much. It just didnt seem like a typical WWE show, they went way too PG. All i can say is that they had this rating coming. But i know fore sure, if not tonite, than next week Jan. 8 the rating will pick up again and it will be back to normal.

  • d1l2g3

when a raw suck i usually turn the volume down and browse the web or something, but this shit was so bad i turned the fucking channel

  • http://pulse.yahoo.com/_VEWORIMZT7VRMZJT35SGCCETEA Eo

cuz john cena. and it wasnt live. and anytime there’s a holiday or someone passes away the show wont have beef, tension or whatever that word is.

  • dae

    Well, gee whiz, WWF/E…
What did you expect? You ran over Santa and showed the clip of him being run over 5 times throughout the show! I was glad I DVRed it so I could fastforward through the crap. (I’m watching Raw in about 1 1/2 to 2 hours).

  • John

question, was it low overall, the whole show? or was it just when the heart monitor started playing jingle bells LOL.

  • Kris Mystery

As soon as anyone over 7 years old saw Santa being run over and was in danger of dying and the updates were upcoming they changed the channel..and rightfully so… what in the hell was that crap???

  • CallumA

and all the faces won, not one heel, and the powerful heels such as punk, shield Big E didn’t even wrestle, big show losing was Bs because now Sheamus will get another shot

  • Ares

2.2 … omg.. Lol I know it was Christmas Eve and all… but this is becoming a trend. Don’t be surprised if you see a 1.9 in a few weeks. Wait.. The Rock is returning so those rating will go up hopefully.

  • http://www.facebook.com/parkwaaydriveee David Sloma

Raw was absolutely shocking. That is all.

  • http://twitter.com/JJayerson Jay Jayerson

Its kind of scary seeing how many people are completely lacking perception and are arguing its because the show was crap instead of the obvious fact that most people are out during the holidays having a life. The sad part is, if you are being all angry hater like, its probably because you yourself have no life and therefore didnt realize it was an option.

Guess you really arent the center of the universe like ya thought hmmm?

  • Jeff

This is what happens when you have a lame duck champion who has held the WWE title for over a year. WWE has gotten stale.

  • Juan Diego Gomez Sanchez Perez

Hunter Hearst Helmsley coat-tail-rider involved in the that low of a rating??? Really????? I never would have suspected.

  • Darth

Did anyone else notice that all the faces won that night?
