CM Punk Refused Concussion Storyline After Heated Exchange Backstage At RAW

CM Punk

ESPN Cleveland reporter Casey Kulas reported today that he heard from sources backstage at Monday’s WWE show in Cleveland, Ohio that there was a heated argument backstage between WWE executives and . Kulas says that WWE wanted Punk to do a promo on RAW telling fans that he was taking time off because he suffered a concussion (he didn’t), but he refused.

Major Update On Why CM Punk Quit WWE

  • Jeremy-County Roberts

I just don’t know how you can let one of your best talents walk out the door like that. Even if you hate the guy he still makes you money. I fear for WWE in the years to come.

    • http://www.rabidpictures.com yrabadi

If WWE has taught us anything over the years, it’s that they are so damn stubborn. Never willing to admit they were wrong. Never willing to admit they messed up. They let Punk go, because they think they can make another Punk. It’s all so lame.

      • https://twitter.com/StrangeDeranged Pozessed

WWE has really done a stupid decision here, Punk has been the best thing in WWE for years.

    • mika009

Why do you fear for them because Punk left? Hogan left after his 1980s run WWE lived on. Bret and Shawn left in mid 1990s WWE lived on. Austin and Rock left in the early 2000s WWE lived on. Vince McMahon was a multi-millionaire long before Punk and this string of bad booking came around and he’ll stay that way for a long time to come.

      • Big Johnny

Vince is out of his mind. Back then he still was young and had some sense.

        • Ayatollah of rock N rolla

No, back then he had good, rational people in his corner. Now well, HHH.

      • Dale C Twigg

Yeah and there was talent to fill the gap left by those departures. WWE has maybe 3 serious guys and the rest are high priced jobbers. WWE also has no idea how to book talent. They did at one point…say back in the 80’s and around 2000.

  • raVen

This is interesting.. they let punk walk away because of a proposed concussion story?
From this one guy it sounds like punk was going to get some requested time off but decided to quit cause he didn’t want to have the wwe’s favorite injury. on 2nd thought seeing what happened to ziggler and fandango it’s probably best to refuse the c word..

    • Cujo999

Well, if the WWE was pitching writing him off due to an injury, it’s probably because Punk was burned out again and either threatened to quit or requested time off. Logically, the WWE brass would have been like, “Well, why don’t you take some time off and think about it? We’ll write you off TV with a concussion,” and he flipped out. I understand it from WWE’s point of view. You can’t have one of your top babyfaces voluntarily taking time off on the build to ‘mania. If you sell it as an injury, then his fans who bought tickets to all the events that he was advertised to appear at won’t be ticked about it.

      • raVen

        my point exactly..

“sounds like punk was going to get some requested time off but decided to quit cause he didn’t want to have the wwe’s favorite injury”

  • rashad jackson

this must explain him being knocked out for 15-20 minutes during the royal rumble “Concussion”

  • Peer Pressure

Good riddance, Punk. You filthy hobo. Batista’s back, they don’t need your homeless looking a$$ anymore. He probably went backstage thinking he can whine his way back into the mainevent scene, like he did when he cut that awesome promo. They wasn’t going for that s#!t this time. Enjoy wrestling at highschool gyms. Jajaja!

    • Diablo130356

      @ Peer Pressure:
If you really think that old, worn out looking, SHADOW of his former self Batista is a good replacement for a hard working, dedicated wrestler like CM Punk you are deluding yourself!
I’m not even a big Punk fan, but I appreciate his talent both in the ring and on promos.
If WWE wanted to build Batista up to be credible, he should have entered the Rumble # 20 at the latest, while he still had chance to prove himself. As it was, by the time he entered, Roman Reigns had already shown himself to be the best and most impressive contestant by far. He should have won the Rumble and gone at least part of the way to placate the annoyed and disappointed fans waiting for D Bryan’s entrance.
So many storylines they could have written for Punk, but they had to go with the recently very overused concussion angle, which made a mockery of those like Dolph Ziggler who were genuine casualties of concussion.
I don’t blame Punk for objecting, and it shows genuine integrity from him not wanting to cheat fans with this bs announcement.

      • TVR

Its pro-wrestling. 95% of it is BS lol

    • Josh Knepshield

You must hate great matches. Do u love botch filled Batista matches?

      • pwnez

He loves the guys who have big muscles and no talent.

      • Peer Pressure

No, I just hate overrated, undersized wrestlers like Punk and Bryan. I guess Vinny hates them to because as we all can see, he doesn’t want those two bums anywhere near the Mania mainevent. Jajajaja!

        • Shane Warde

I Agree. It’s the small puny wrestlers like bryan and punk and Ziggler who always get injured and suffer concussions. Im glad batista, cena, brock etc are all in the main event. at least their bodies can handle it

          • http://imackblog.wordpress.com/ Mackenzie Lambert

Here’s the thing Batista can’t handle it. He gassed out in five minutes at the Rumble. He tore one of his biceps because he such a roided out freak. He didn’t wrestle OVW shows because he had a cold. He’s a frail musclehead that could barely wrestle matches with Simon Dean, let alone The Undertaker.

          • Josh Knepshield

You are an idiot. Batista gets injured more than anyone. Cena tears something at least once a year. Brock had to leave UFC because his body wouldn’t let him do it anymore. IDIOTS. Lol

        • j l

lol @ calling punk and bryan, by far the 2 most complete wrestlers in the company, overrated.

Probably a 12 year old cena fan.

          • Peer Pressure

The truth hurts, doesn’t it. LOL @ Punk and Bryan being the 2 most complete wrestlers in the company. Vinny Mac doesn’t think so. Jajajaja. You Punk and Bryan weener holders are hilarious. By the way, Cena >>> Punk and Bryan.

          • j l

lol, just as i assumed, a 12 year old cena fan. Cena couldnt outwrestle punk or bryan if his life depended on it. His best matches are with high level guys who carried his sorry ass. His promo work has been boring for years. He sells merchandise, and thats about it.

Pretty much any intelligent fan(obviously not you), would agree that punk and bryan are the 2 most complete wrestlers on the roster.

Vinny mac dosent think so? guess thats why he gave punk a longer title run than cena has ever had right?

You wouldnt know what the truth is, even if ron killings kicked you in the face with it.

          • Peer Pressure

Punks title run was a joke. The only reason why he held it for so long is because the Rock wanted to wrestle him for it. During his whole title run, Cena was still headlining PPVs and still closing shows, while Punk was in the midcard wrestling scrubs like Bryan, idiot. Who gives a $#!t about wrestling matches. Cena has made the WWE more money than Punk and Bryan ever will. You’re probably one of those obsessive indy fanboys who’s been following those bums since their bush league bingo hall days.

          • j l

Guess thats why cena is going to be wrestling on the WM30 midcard vs wyatt? Moron.

You are correct that cena has made them a lot of money, cant deny that. Hogan made vince a lot of money too, dosent mean he can wrestle worth a damn though.

Not an indy fanboy in the slightest, but bryan and punk are about the only guys that make WWE worth watching. I actually preferred the product TNA put on before hogan and bischoff took over. The wrestling matches they put on were far better than what WWE put on for a long time there.

Who cares about wrestling matches? The fans. Why the hell do you watch then, if you dont care about the quality of the WRESTLING? Huge fan of mason ryan and ryback too then i guess?

          • Peer Pressure

Cena will be on the midcard because Mania will most likely be headlined by Batista and Orton, or hopefully, Batista and Lesnar. Punk won’t be on the card, and we know Daniel Bryan won’t be in the mainevent. My self and others have told you idiots time and time again. Pro wrestling isn’t only about fake fights. Rock, Hogan, Cena, Batista are some of the biggest names in pro wrestling history, and neither of them were good in ring performers, moron.

          • j l

Lesnar will be facing taker dude, its pretty obvious.

Batista v boreton, HHH vs Bryan, cena vs wyatt, lesnar v taker, sheamus vs random heel(prob sandow), outlaws vs usos(pre show), maybe a divas match(aj/naomi), prob goldust vs cody, maybe big e vs ambrose(if they dont do that at EC), shield v rowan/harper

Batista one of the biggest names in pro wrestling history? come on now man, if you really think that you dont know much about wrestling history. Dude is nothing in the historical landscape, just another muscle freak. Not a good worker, not even really a good promo until his final run.

You are right, wrestling isnt just about the matches, its about the promos as well. At least hogan was good at those, and so was cena until he became hogan Jr.

One of these days vince will figure out that wrestling is evolving, and fans want guys who are complete packages, not just big plodding muscle freaks. Thank god ryback flopped.

          • Peer Pressure

I like this reply so I’m just gonna respectfully disagree with some of what you said, and leave it at that.

          • pwnez

You actually nailed it with your last sentence. I remember this dude was all over Ryhack’s balls. Like I said, he digs the wrestlers with big muscles and no talent.

          • ibeBrave

            Amen

          • Noah

John Cena is not one of my favorite’s.I respect the hell out of him.He works his butt off.He doesn’t just sell merchandise there buddy.Look at all the stuff he does for Make A Wish Foundation. And the Susan G.Komen for the cure breast cancer Foundation.John Cena will still be the face of WWE for years to come.Whether we like it or not.He won’t give that up for anybody.

          • j l

no one is denying cena is a good person, and his make a wish stuff he does is admirable.

But his character is as stale as 10 year old open crackers, and its been that way for a long time now.

          • ibeBrave

lol does your h on your keyboard work at all? wtf is jajajaja you tryna beatbox?? lol

          • Peer Pressure

            Jajajaja! Educate yourself.

          • ibeBrave

lol so your h doesnt work LOL go get some money and buy a new keyboard hahahahahaha….fuggin hater lol

          • Peer Pressure

You’re an idiot. Have someone explain it to you.

          • ibeBrave

lol go to bed kid and dream about batistas balls or something lol im done dont reply anymore

          • Peer Pressure

Dream about Batista’s balls. Jajajaja! Punk marks!

          • http://imackblog.wordpress.com/ Mackenzie Lambert

            “Vinny Mac doesn’t think so.”

Well, Vinny Mac also thought the WBF and the XFL were good ideas.

          • Peer Pressure

Hey, we all have made a bad decision or two in life.

          • Diablo130356

Does your guide dog tell you what’s going on in the ring?
You obviously can’t see talent for yourself, unless the sunshine out of Vince’s arse points out who you should support?

    • j l

Batista was gassed before he even hit the ring at the rumble, and thats the guy getting to main event wrestlemania over punk? Id probably bail too.

Punk has more money than you or I will ever have, dont think hes going to be wrestling in high school gyms any time soon.

    • http://imackblog.wordpress.com/ Mackenzie Lambert

Punk wouldn’t have held the belt for over 400+ days if he wasn’t drawing in ratings, upping ppv buyrates, and selling merch. He’s done more for the WWE than prissy Batista.

      • Peer Pressure

Drawing in ratings? Upping PPV buyrates? You’re kidding, right?

    • Peer Pressure

The CM Punk fangirls are in full effect tonight. Look at all the downvotes my comment got. Look at all the hateful comments you fangirls are leaving me. CM Punk sucks. Vinny and the boys knows this, this is why they didn’t make an effort to keep that whiney crackhead around. He couldn’t hold Batista’s jock strap. This is why Batista will be maineventing Mania (something Punk will never do) while Punk will be on his couch watching it on tv. Now get mad, fangirls and stay mad. Jajajaja!

  • rashad jackson

so a concussion story? must explain him being knocked out at the rumble for 15 minutes doing nothing lol
but yeah WWE is ass backwards sometime
they bring in part timers like batista to win the rumble and headline at WM30
yet they want to bring part timers back like goldberg and lose to ryback at WM30? i know ur suppose to let new talent over but u cant have batista headline WM n have goldberg lose to ryback lol

  • Buzzard Follower

YOU MANIACS YOU MADE HIM LEAVE DAMN YOU DAMN YOU ALL TO HELL. F**K YOU HHH F**K U VINCE F**K U BATISTA F**K THE WWE

    • Archimedes_Slim

      Read in Hestons voice.

  • Buzzard Follower

    reminds me of something

    • ibeBrave

hell yeah i remember watching austins dvd on netflix and he did the samething he left cuz wwe didnt know wtf they were doing with him 1 month later ratings are low and Boom vince is calling austin

    • Macho Stud

I remember that all too well. When the Undertaker messed up his mind so bad he couldn’t even talk.. Mr. Silver Tongue, cat caught his tongue. Weird things happen after being humiliated and molested by the Undertaker at WM. He’s still suffering from the side effects today.

  • PatrickEwing

These [Wrestling?] Boots weren’t made for walking?

  • kongg

Sting is going to save us all

    • http://imackblog.wordpress.com/ Mackenzie Lambert

If it was the year 2000, sure.

  • YES MOVEMENT

CM Punk thanks, for not feeding us BS.
    BEST IN THE WORLD.

  • Cena Swallows

    Cm Punk be like :

  • Jack
  • Jack
  • Dana Snyder

It sounded like they thought Punk had a concussion so they had him do the tests and he passed. He didn’t want to go out and tell them he had a concussion when he doesn’t.

  • MSK

my 4th ALLTIME FAVOURITE WWE Superstar just left :(

  • Manalili

The Js for his laugh means hes mexican I think. Silent Js like Juan and Julio. Correct me If im wrong.

  • Dave Arena

Ok so everyone is cool with cm punk bitching every time he doesn’t get what he wants?? This guys a tool. Put the strap on him for 500 days so he’s happy again. Sorry, was a huge punk fan but not anymore. Let’s make my 7 year old daughter champ she complains less when things don’t go her way. I just really hope this is a work… Never wanted to turn my back on punk.

  • HeelDZ

I’m sick and tired of all these injury storylines in the WWE. At least make them a bit realistic sometimes. Happy to see a WWE Talent refusing to do such a storyline

  • Donny Octave

Oh my god, even with this concussion BS! Just bring in the helmets already and get it over with!!!

  • Mikey G

Vince will Fail this time around because he does not have WCW to make him look good. Fans will start to tune out to other forms of entertainment. CM Punk is a smart business man and will probably wind up in UFC for a stint or will go and help ROH become more main stream. If things do not change, Daniel Bryan will be next to leave!!! mark my words on that. I believe Ziggler is out the door in a year. we are witnessing the self destruction of WWE and there are not enough Bray Wyatt’s or Roman Reigns’ that will be able to save them from implosion. The fans have spoken. The same fans that Hyjacked recent shows, are fans of both Punk AND Bryan. I think WWE has there demographics wrong. i know a lot of kids are tuning in and going to the shows, but I think there are far more “smart fans” than any other. These Fans are fed up. Good luck WWE. Unfortunately, I think you may have gone too far this time. As a smart fan, I do not think you will be able to recover from this. You may have to change your product completely to appese the typical mark fan.

  • C.M. Baby

The guy is made the longest reigning champ in however long it was. He is put in a Wrestlemania match with Taker. He was then booked against Brock Lesnar as part of him moving away from Heyman (which he surely knew would happen/ he would lose). Then he’s placed in a program with the Wyatt’s. He has nothing to complain about after all that exposure. Walking out on the company that made you a star 30 minutes before a live raw is utter BS. And hopefully its not a work as they’ve already done this whole “i’m leaving” program with Punk. The guy is a fool.

  • ibeBrave

pretty sure hbk did and he got it his way just ask jim cornette

  • j l

lol he has enough money to retire, he wont go to TNA and watch his career die with that company.

WWE needs him far more than he needs WWE.

  • http://imackblog.wordpress.com/ Mackenzie Lambert

How much is Vince paying you to kiss his ass? My sympathies if you’re volunteering to do it.

  • Dale C Twigg

Or…..he could retire on the fortune he has made in wrestling and never bother again….Retire rich. Something you will never understand.

  • DDillonil

No you misinterpreted the article clearly. It wasn’t wwe that was fed up it was Punk. He’s the one that got the last word and left

  • rhinox924

Dude re-read the article, punk walked out. He was tired of Wwe’s BS.

  • http://www.rabidpictures.com yrabadi

Hahaha… You got a bit of a hard on for me, huh? It’s a shame I don’t swing that way. Sorry bud.

Everyone is assuming everything at this point. It’s all speculation. When I say ‘they let Punk go’, what I mean is that WWE let him walk away – which they did. If they really wanted to keep him around, they would have met his needs, but they didn’t… There was conflict, it was not resolved, and Punk left – and by proxy, WWE let him leave.

  • Eliot Tirado

    That’s for sure.

  • Josh Knepshield

You are an idiot if you think WWE would have released CM Punk.

  • ibeBrave

you feel hate towards punk huh?

  • Donny Octave

oh my god wil you PLEEEEEEASE SHUT THE HELL UP!!!!

  • Noah

Your right.I’ve seen alot of interviews with cornette and he bashes the crap out of HBK.Calling HBK one of the biggest cry babies in the business. And that HBK always got what he wanted.I’m a HBK fan.But it’s all true.

  • ibeBrave

you seen the one where cornette explains the fight between bret and hbk while they were in the bathroom???? its funny

  • MSK

of course he is an idiot… his name has TNA in it

  • Noah

They were rolling around on the bathroom floor pulling each other’s hair.lol Also heard Vader was suppose to beat Shawn for the title. But Shawn said no.HBK being selfish.

  • ibeBrave

yea lawler having to stop in the middle of taking a shyt lol but yea every golden boy is selfish dude but hbk was still good at what he did thats why people dont really care if he complains or not

  • Noah

lol I know he was good at what he did. He’s one of my favorites.

  • Orestis

Well we all know those guys.Hell they would hate their clones if they were famous…

  • Orestis

Someone tear his shirt into bandges cause I;m bleeding. My eyes see everything black and white…(Dayz)

  • Dale C Twigg

The three move kid? Really. I guess your right. Except that he can’t wrestle and partially stole the persona of Scotty 2 Hotty. I guess your right. Cena is the best in the world and amusing children under 12 and selling merchandise. Guy still can’t wrestle.

  • Dan Nighteowl

Cena is the face as he makes the WWE the most money and that is all Vince cares about . A lot of people hate Cena for his character but you have to blame Vince as all wrestlers have to do as they are told or they are gone and as long as Cena is the top money maker the way he is then nothing is going to change . the only way to change things is too not watch Raw or buy PPV`s . Punk is a multi millionaire and is doing A.J. so what more does he need in life . Why wreck your body for the dickheads at WWE when you have enough money too live on .
