SEScoops.com reader Patrick Peralta sent in the following results from Ring of Honor’s Best In The World 2011 iPPV taping from New York City’s Hammerstein Ballroom over the weekend. Based on several live reports we’ve read from fans who were at the show, it was said to be one of ROH’s best shows in a long time and the company appears to be in capable hands under the ownership of the Sinclair Broadcasting Group. Here are the results:

* Match 1: Tommaso Ciampa (w/the Embassy) vs Colt Cabana. Winner Tommaso Ciampa

* Match 2: Jay Lethal vs “The Prodigy” Mike Bennett (w/”Brutal” Bob Evans). winner Jay Lethal. Fans went wild for Lethal’s return they chanted welcome back and Randy Savage chants

* Match 3: Homicide vs Rhyno. winner Homicide. After the match Prince Nana (manager) attacked Homicide who beat Nana down then Homicide turned into a Gore by Rhyno who sent him into a table in the corner of the ring.

* Match 4: Mike Elgin (w/Truth Martini) vs Steve Corino (w/Jimmy Jacobs). Winner Mike Elgin. Before the match Corino did a promo talking about how he and Jacobs had turned their lives around and he wanted to introduce a man he wanted to help change his life around. He introduced “Mr. Wrestling” Kevin Steen who had not been seen since losing a loser leaves ROH match to El Generico at ROH: Final Battle Dec 2010. Steen came out on the upper deck of the venue and the fans went nuts, Cornette let him stay as long as he stayed in his seat. After the match both Corino and Jacobs were beat down by Elgin and Martini, Steen made the save and Cornette and security came out. Corino begged them not to do anything. Steen took the mic said he had one thing to say he said “screw ROH” then he attacked Jacobs and Corino and security came in and carried Steen away while ROH staff tended to Corino. Cornette made a promise on his mother’s grave that Steen would never return to ROH.

* Match 5: El Generico vs “Fallen Angel” Chrisopher Daniels (w/Truth Martini) for the ROH TV championship. Winner and NEW ROH TV Championship El Generico

* Match 6: Wrestling’s Greatest Tag Team (Charlie Haas & Shelton Benjamin, champs) vs. The Kings of Wrestling (Chris Hero & Claudio Castagnoli) vs. The All Night Express (Kenny King & Rhett Titus) vs. Jay & Mark Briscoe for the ROH Tag Team Championship. Winners and still ROH Tag Team Champions, Wrestling’s Greatest Tag Team. After the match the Briscoes attacked the WGTT while the KOW just watched from the corners. The ANX made the save.

* Match 7: Davey Richards vs. Eddie Edwards (champ) for the ROH World Heavyweight Championship. Winner & NEW ROH World HeavyWeight Champion Davey Richards. After the match Davey Richards gave an emotional speech thanking fans and his training camp and Eddie Edwards for sticking by him thru good and bad both in wrestling and in his personal life. He said they were his only family. He gave a big thanks to his grandparents who raised him as he looked to the heavens and did a “Rocky” type salute to them saying he did it.

Congratulations to Davey, I just wish WWE would get their heads out of their asses and sign the Wolves and the Kings. Maybe resign the WGTT. If they did their entire Tag Team division could be saved.

  • Forceton_Banfodder

Davey should’ve been ROH world Champ before Eddie Edwards IMHO.

Damn I wish I had caught this. Sounds like it was an awesome card.

  • TickleMyTaters

I know this has knothing to do with this topic but why doesn’t sescoops show boxing results?

  • Forceton_Banfodder

    Because boxing is boring.

  • Slappy

Why would you want them to be signed by WWE? So they can be wasted on Superstars and then released in 2012?

  • MadMike

Because this is a wrestling website…along with some MMA…Sports Entertainment Scoops…just sayin…use google for boxing results…

  • Forceton_Banfodder

WWE needs a total overhaul. Too many superstars already. too many titles, too much talking, not enough action. I can’t wait till I can start watching ROH weekly on the internet, since I don’t think I live in an area that will get the show on television.

  • MadMike

I have tried…but for some reason I cannot get into ROH…

  • KquickSTILLSUCKS

It took nearly an entire day to cut and paste SE Scoops? AGH. Anyway i may try to find this when it comes out on dvd. I can’t wait for them to be on my TV this fall. ROH a true alternative to the crap we are burdened with these days as wrestling fans. Hope i can atleast find the kevin steen segment on youtube.

If you haven’t watched ROH before give it a chance.

  • MadMike

@KquickSTILLSUCKS i have tried to give it a chance but it really didn’t cut the mustard for me. I have several DVDs like Samoa Joe, Daniels, AJ Stles, CM Punk…that I have enjoyed. But when ROH aired on HDNET…I tried and tried and simply couldn’t get into it for some reason. I do look for alternatives for wrestling…TNA OOpps I meant to say Impact Wrestling…it has good and bad moments. But they drop the ball way too often…

  • Forceton_Banfodder

ROH is way more entertaining than TNA. I had no problem watching an entire episode of ROH on HDNet, I have yet to sit through an entire episode of TNA… and I have completely given up on WWE.

I think it’s giving SBG too much credit by saying that this show is proof that they’re handling the company right. They’ve only had ownership for a few weeks. The credit for the quality of this show goes to Delirious and Cornette. If SBG had even an inkling of an idea of what they were doing with a wrestling company they would be putting ROH on television this week following such a great showing by the company. Instead yu have the title change happen for the guy that they’ve been waiting to pull the trigger on for months, three months ahead of their debut by two months with only dark shows that won’t be on dvd until at least August.

This show was proof though that even in the eyes of ROH management, Eddie Edwards is a vanilla midget. Guy is talented as all get-up in the ring, but he’s got the charisma of a garden variety house plant. Davey Richards reminds me so much of a young Chris Benoit that it’s not even funny. I just have one question though, where the f— is Roderick Strong in all of this? Saw Daniels dropping the belt to Delirious though. I guess this means we won’t be seeing him on the new ROH program since he’s on TNA’s television. Using Steen to market the ppv with Corino was smart, now it’s only a matter of time until he’s brought back to chase Richards for the championship as the company’s top heel.

    When in Rome…

  • JohnyH

@Slappy Oh yeah, just like C.M. Punk and Daniel Bryan.

  • KquickSTILLSUCKS

@MadMike different strokes for different folks i guess. Not everything is a homerun in ROH and i havent been able to watch ROH in quite sometime still follow what happens on the net and can tell it is far better than either major promotion. Not talking about the wrestling really thats a given but the storylines. Steen Generico went on for a year it was awesome. Tag Division much more depth than TNA and obviously better than WWE’s barely existing tag division. Wrestling matters isnt a catch phrase for ROH it actually does. In addition to the story lines i mentioned. ROH is the modern day ECW in terms of being a feeder system to the bigger 2 companies and being a true alternative something fresh to a fairly stale wrestling industry.

Again I recommend anyone to try it out if they haven’t already or give it another shot? Especially if you are sick of what you see on your tv’s on Monday and Thursday’s.

  • Slappy

@JohnyH – Ok good point. I’m a big fan of both Punk and Bryan. I was just saying that I prefer ROH and would rather they stay there. I would love to see ROH on national television someday.

  • Bill Mitchell

Forceton_Banfodder: You can catch the entire card of this iPPV on GoFightLive.tv.
Slappy: ROH will be on a number of MyNetworkTelevision affiliates starting this fall.

  • Youllneverlearn

On a number of them? Not even remotely enough saturation for it to matter or call it ‘national’ television. The saturation of Sinclair’s network is pitiful compared to that of HDNet. When your company’s biggest markets aren’t even reached then there’s a problem, and internet streaming isn’t going to turn 500,000 views a week let alone 1,000,000. I’ve said it a number of times since the buyout, a wrestling company being owned by it’s broadcast network is an eventual timebomb.
