You Know When it’s Right.
By Cary Silkin

After Todd Sinclair counted 1….2…3…. on Saturday Night, I knew we had gotten it right.

Ring of Honor returned to NYC on a big weekend for combat sports in the Big Apple. We weren’t alone in town with Vince McMahon’s WWE across the street at Madison Square Garden and the UFC in Newark, NJ. We moved our show to 4pm to make sure our fans could attend both events. We saw made sure with our event to kick the weekend off right. And when those three seconds happened and a new ROH World Champion was crowned, I knew what we all had been working for the last nine years… we had gotten it right!

Eddie Edwards became our new World Champion and it was my pleasure to get in the ring and shake his hand as the best wrestler in the world. Roderick Strong proved over the last seven months that he was fighting champion for this company. And the level of physicality these two unleashed on each other showed just how bad they both wanted to be known as the best in the world. I knew we had something special after that match when the fans didn’t want to leave; they wanted to stay and celebrate.

Ring of Honor’s events have always been a cut above when it comes to in ring action and how you, our fans, react. I want to invite anyone who has never been to one of our NYC events to come join us on June 26h at 4pm. We return to the Hammerstein Ballroom with what will be our biggest event in our history. Make a weekend out of it, see the city in the summer, attend a Yankee game and be with us at the Manhattan Center. Jim Cornette announced the show will highlight “The Best in the World” and I want you to know that means not only the best wrestlers in the world but the best fans in the world.

If you can’t wait for June 26th, we are returning to iPPV in Atlanta when “Honor Takes Center Stage.” Our Wrestlemania weekend shows are a chance for fans from around the world to see us live. And for the first time this year, if you can’t be at the shows, you’ll be able to watch both on your computer. We’re very excited by the technology and opportunity working with GoFightLive.tv; allowing every wrestling fan a chance to watch ROH live.

Your support makes us stronger. When Eddie Edwards won the title on Saturday, the news spread so fast and wide that his name trended on Twitter worldwide. That’s the first time anyone from this company has ever done that. You, our fans, made that happen. And I’m excited to see what we all can create in Atlanta, Detroit, Toronto, Dayton, Chicago, NYC and every place we go.

Thank you!

    wheres eddie edwards’ sescoops boyfriend? how come he hasn’t posted on here yet, drooling at the mouth? I’m just sayin’…

  • adementedjim

    You have it wrong (as I know you are referring to me)…I am NOT EE’s boyfriend, I am the boyfriend of WRESTLING, two guys fighting it out in the ring, without the glitz, glammor, and gaudy BS that the two other feds feed us…Independent wrestling feds ARE wrestling, not like the WWE, which is embarrassed to be even be associated with the word. Big UPS for ROH, for Eddie Edwards, and everyone else who busts his ass on a nightly basis, based on their athletic ability and ring prowess, not their acting skills.

  • HarryRKO

    can you imagine how s**t it would be to watch CM Punk with no acting skills?

    That crowd went nuts when Eddie won. I wonder if they may set up a Eddie vs Davy feud for the belt at sometime in the near future.

  • adementedjim

    CM Punk was a better wrestler before he started acting…

  • let it be known

    @adementedjim,

    I don’t know what you watch, but WWE guys are on the road all year wrestling house shows, busting their a#$ too. Even TNA with the 2 house shows they do a year…

    Anyway, is Ring of Honor on TV? They did a show here in Connecticut once and was gonna go but I ended up not going for some reason. I’d like to catch some of their wrestling.

  • J4Y5ON

    You know what I wish. Is if everybody could just up a leave WWE programming and all demand ROH to a degree that its picked up by a national TV station, then we all watch it instead of WWE, and let it burn.

    At least ROH is a real WRESTLING company.

  • let it be known

    why do you people complain about WWE, but watch it? Don’t watch it if it bothers you. If you wanna watch old school wrestling get WWE On Demand and watch old wrestling.

  • adementedjim

    First off, ROH IS on TV, on HDNet…Second, the only old school wrestling you’re gonna get on WWE On Demand would be from the 70′s, before all the glitz and hype….Hell, NWA from the 80′s had more wrestling than WWF at the same time.

  • 91nos331gt

    @ J4Y50N you come off kind of clueless. without wwe the wrestling business will suffer horribly. you know its people like you and adementedjim that try to preach all this stuff about how people need to support all wrestling companies not just wwe, but then turn around and want wwe to burn and promotions like tna and roh to continue to be around. quit being so freakin anti-wwe. wwe isnt going anywhere you need to accept that and if you were smart at all you would know that those 7-8-9-10 yr olds that love cena are now wrestling fans and that leaves the door open to expand what other promotions have to offer like roh after they get older and are over cena and wwe, common sense should tell you that. talk crap about the wwe all you want but the fact is those smaller promotions need the wwe to keep wrestling alive.

  • K-Fist

    Actually, @adementedjim, ROH is not going to be on TV for much longer as their deal with HDNet has expired and neither side could come to terms on a new contract agreement to feature the show on the channel.

    Personally, I’d love to see ROH get picked up by VS. channel. I think they’d fit perfectly with the sports channel, given their focus on straightforward wrestling matches and keeping the storylines rooted to wrestling related issues. Hell anymore, ROH and Dragon Gate and the majority of independent companies are where it’s at as far as the wrestling business goes. Beyond that I highly prefer watching UFC and Strikeforce over anything WWE or TNA has to offer.

    @91noss331gt

    I absolutely agree with you. All those companies would have no direction if it weren’t for WWE. WWE is what sets the stage in the wrestling business. TNA wouldn’t have the production or “know-how” without emulating the WWE in one way or another.
