The Rock Pushing For A Role In The New Star Wars Movie

During this week’s media tour of Sydney, Australia to promote “G.I. Joe: Retaliation,” WWE Champion The Rock told Adelaidenow.com.au that he’s got his got his sights set on a role in the new Star Wars movie.

“I played with two lines of action figures when I was a kid: G.I. Joe and Star Wars,” The Rock said. “By the way, because we didn’t have a lot of money, I used to steal them. I’d just rip open the packages and shove ‘em in my pockets … like a lot of kids. I got caught a couple of times, got my ass kicked by my parents.

“So when I got the call saying, ‘How do you feel about becoming the leader of the G.I. Joes?’, it was like if I got a call from George Lucas saying, ‘I want you to be in Star Wars’.”

George Lucas recently announced that J.J. Abrams (Star Trek, Lost) will be directing the next installment of the Star Wars franchise, due out in 2015. Not one to sit around if there’s something out there he wants – The Rock plans to contact the powers that be to land himself a role in the blockbuster film.

“I’m gonna call J.J. and you’re gonna help by printing it and I’m gonna be in Star Wars!” The Rock said.

        His actions don’t prove it. Never shows up to RAW and he’s the champion, has 4+ million followers on twitter, doesn’t follow a single person, tries to get every and any movie part out there even ones that don’t fit him (this). People should quit praising him so much. He only does all this for the money, everyone talks about him doing stuff for “the people” yet what has he done for you? yeah he shows up in WWE but Cena, Punk, and plenty of others do that and more.

          I’m pretty sure he’s not doing it for thew money. Rock is the hardest working person in Hollywood, and he deserves everything he’s earned. He does “Make a Wish” Like Cena and the others, WWE just doesn’t hype Rock up like Cena. Rock genuinely cares about his fans and loves to entertain. If you can’t see that you’re blinded by hatred or jealousy. Maybe both.

        In a point I am disappointed, but who in the hell is The Rock to demand a WWE title match at the Royal Rumble without participating in matches to receive an opportunity? I know he has “the name” and “the glory” and the WWE can make money with this, I get it! But a part-timer, overrated, ass-kisser, wannabe wrestler doesn’t deserve to receive an opportunity for the prestigious WWE title. Dwayne is a big name to the WWE because of this father and grandfather! If Rock didn’t have their support, he wouldn’t be “the greatest of all time” (sounds to much egocentrical, even HHH doesn’t say this stuff for himself) -period-

    I love Star Wars. I love The Rock. But he should in NO way, shape or form be a part of Star Wars. However, I think if he is, the role needs to be right. I am not sure what the screenplay for Star Wars will be, but if they use the Yuuzhan Vong war from the EU, The Rock would make a PERFECT Nom Anor or another of that race.

    He just doesn’t fit in as anything else.

    Please no. I would rather have Rock as AWOL champ for the next five years than have him in a Star Wars film. It’s problematic enough that more are getting made – adding the guy who can act exactly one and only one part would just make it that much more worrying.

    There’s a lot of resentment fluctuating amongst hardcore fans about Rock being back and whatnot. I am actually glad guys like him, Brock, and Taker are back in the mix for Mania this year. These guys can help and have helped in drawing back people that haven’t watched in a long time. Look at the ratings heading into this year (2.8-2.9) then see the huge spikes just a few weeks later(3.5-3.7). These guys put asses in seats, and draw in viewers for television and P.P.V broadcasts.Wrestlers have no reason to complain because they’ll make more money if those guys are on the same card as them. I also feel that the overcritical and continuous stream of discontented feelings towards the product, even if they do what you wanted them to do, is completely hypocritical. If you really have that huge of an issue, then you should exercise the ability to change the channel and not to invest in the product altogether- that will speak louder volumes than what you’re currently doing.
