The Rock’s Next Movie, Live SmackDown Rating, Lesnar

– Tuesday’s live “old school” SmackDown special drew a 1.5 cable rating. SmackDown typically draws around a 2.0 on Friday nights.

– The Rock is in talks to star in a new movie called Lore, which has been described as a “hybrid of traditional narrative and graphic novel.” compared the movie to Men In Black, writing that MIB’s take on Aliens will be similar to how Lore presents monsters. No word yet on when filming will begin.

– Brock Lesnar will not be wrestling any matches before Extreme Rules later this month. His match against John Cena will be his first WWE match in over 8 years.

Does this guy even sleep? Ever time you turn around The Rock is starring in another movie. Guess every one just wants a piece of The Rock. He doin his thing.

    • Andrew Campbell

Two days after ‘Mania he started filming for the Michael Bay film Pain & Gain, hes filming Fast 6 this summer and he has got atleast 2 or 3 more films lined up after that. The guy never stops working lol.

    • Cyber Criminal

he is not called “The Great One” for no reason…..

  • Kyle Cotton

MIB but with Monsters. Wasn’t that already done with Hellboy

    • DAX

Yes but the main character whas red not black.

  • Brian Clark

     1. That “Blast from the Past” Smackdown sucked.
     2. I almost have every movie The Rock was in. (I am missing Southland Tales.)
     3. When does The Rock relax?

    • Andrew Campbell

Southland Tales is one of the worst films I’ve ever seen, so it’s a good thing it’s missing from your collection lol.

      • Brian Clark

I read the books, so I understood it a little bit. But it really went off with the ending.

  • Kaylyn Owens

Man. Rock will do anything, won’t he.

    • GreatRedBeard

Yeah, The Rock will do ‘anything’ if ‘anything’ is taken to mean ‘big budget pictures that pay him millions of dollars’…talk about no standards!

      • DAX

So making money is BAD in what way?

        • Bushwald Sexyface

          Ever heard of sarcasm??

          • DAX

      • BrahmaBullRKO

It sounds like you’re insulting him, but I can’t really tell, because that would be a very dumb reason to insult somebody.

        • GreatRedBeard

That was sarcasm. I understand that it can hard to tell on the internet though.

          • BrahmaBullRKO

Whoops, my bad haha. Carry on, then.

  • Stefan Overton

Smackdowns ratings are just going down and down and down and down. Granted this was a LIVE Smackdown and a lot of people might not have heard or remembered it was on Tuesday.

  • Nightmare

    Yes! Yes! yes!

    • wwetnadudez

Man..that chant completely died out this week.

  • Prophetless

Both Raw AND Smackdown ratings are dropping as I called it weeks before Mania. Laurinaitis is boring and majority of people don’t want to see him. Especially Otunga. On Raw, I was walking out of the room when Laurinaitis and Otunga came out to start the show. If it wasn’t for Lesnar coming out next I wouldn’t have came back until 9:30.

But also, a main problem with a drop in ratings holding Smackdown on Tuesday nights like this is due to new episodes of NCIS and NCIS: LA on CBS. That’s like doing a free WrestleMania the same night as the Super Bowl. Both NCIS’s are doing 15-20 in ratings. I chose to not give up NCIS for Smackdown the last two Live showings.

I would say Smackdown could be Live during the Summer, but, they would possibly have a drop in ratings in the 2nd hour against the great Summer shows on USA Network. They should just stay on Friday nights and make necessary changes to the product.

    • Bushwald Sexyface

Dude, Raw’s ratings have been steadily dropping for the past decade. The last few months haven’t played any part in it. It’s a much bigger thing than whatever’s been on Raw lately.

      • Prophetless

I’m not talking about the past decade. I’m talking about since last Summer when Laurinaitis has been brought to TV and had a much bigger role going into Fall. As I said in the article about Raw’s rating this week, Brock Lesnar couldn’t even bring ratings. The rating surprisingly dropped. WWE obviously has flaws in their product right now that are keeping fans away.

        • Bushwald Sexyface

That’s just the thing. It was surprising to you. It wasn’t surprising to me. Like I said, this has been an ongoing trend for years now and has little to do with the product itself.

  • Bionic

The Rock will also be filming the next Fast and Furious movie somewhat soon

  • wwetnadudez seems people are moving away from SD and just watching Raw now..w/e SD was dying out anyway, lets revive it with some new FCW talent.

    • Bushwald Sexyface

Smackdown averages anywhere from 1.8 to 2.1 on a weekly basis.

  • Forceton Banfodder

I could’ve told WWE that Smackdown wasn’t going to draw well.   First it was on a Tuesday, and I just don’t think about turning on wrestling on Tuesday night, second, I really had no interest to see the “blast from the past” line up.

When I did see it in the menu, I tuned in for about 5 seconds and saw Mae Young coming out and Khali and that was enough for me to change the channel again.

  • m8h3r

I thought the live Smackdown’s normally draw more?

Granted though, it was hardly a “Blast from the past”, it was a shocking show. Cody was right, it was a complete waste of our time.
