TNA Impact Wrestling Moving To Wednesday Nights On Spike TV

The following is from

NASHVILLE, Tenn. (Aug. 14, 2014) – TNA today announced its flagship program, IMPACT WRESTLING, will make a permanent move to Wednesday nights at 9/8c on SPIKE TV beginning next Wednesday, Aug. 20.

“Moving IMPACT WRESTLING to Wednesday nights gives existing fans and new viewers an opportunity to enjoy both wrestling and live sports even more throughout the week,” said TNA President Dixie Carter.

IMPACT WRESTLING has enjoyed sustained ratings growth this summer, drawing over 1.5 million viewers each week this quarter, and is among the most watched cable series in key male demos in its timeslot.

Lol smart move. Smackdown would have killed TNA before they could even get a deal. Hope they still get the 1million viewers per week though.

I was thinking the same thing

    • meh

Sounds like a good move. There really isn’t anything to watch on Wednesdays.

      • 9 year old boy

And you want to watch TNA lmao

      • Mr_Shrimp_Vendor

Was kinda hoping for Bellator or Glory Kickboxing to take that slot since thursday, fri, sat nights are the worse nights for tv.

    • LaParkaXV

Ahahahahaha how “nice” of TNA to move so we can watch Football.

    • elguapo79

I wonder if this move is any kind of indication of a renewal on Spike?

Either way, my DVR thanks you. I can only record 2 shows at once, and there is occasionally something besides wrestling worth recording on Thursday nights.

    • long island ice D

TNA moves to Wednesday to make sure it doesn’t compete with Smackdown when it moves to Thursday.

    • Marshall Mathers

smackdown is WWE’s secondary show and they got tna filling there pants full of smelly stuff , just shows how garbage there product is.

    • dae

Outta be interesting. I still don’t know why the WWF/E wants to compete with the NFL so much on Mondays & Thursdays (especially now that some of the Thursday Night Football games are going to be on CBS). I know one thing, I’ll still be DVRing those shows so I can watch them and cut out all the crap.

      • I’ve Lost My Smile

I think it’s a NBC/Universal decision to move to Thursdays and why wouldn’t they do something to try to affect the rating for a show on CBS?

    • Joe

TNA Scared about that WWE move to Thursday, plus The NFL games.

    • MrKTE

Just like WCW Thunder! And it worked out so well for them too! 8D

    • Dixie Carter

All the fans and people said when we had the polls. Put TNA on Wednesday because I work late on Thursday and go to the bar after. So with the ton of research, we decided to listen to the fans.

    • Rhawk

Honestly, with the (most like true) reports of SmackDown moving to Thursdays and all that american fotball or whatever sport stuff also on the same day, TNA needed to try something different.

But what I find mysterious is how even with all these ‘TNA’s gonna die’ comments because, well, IWC people… why would Spike bother moving TNA to a different day if they are going to get rid of them soon? Hmmmmm…

      • I’ve Lost My Smile

TV Shows often move to a new night prior to them getting canceled so nothing new as far as TV however I truly hope Spike and TNA has things out the more wresting on TV the better as fans it is horrible that some of us wish TNA would die, I look forward to Mondays for Raw, and soon Wednesdays for TNA, Thursdays for Smackdown and starting on Oct 8 the debut of AAA on El Rey (sucks its on a wednesday hope it’s not their normal day and it’s opposing TNA unless it pushes both companies to have great shows).

        • Rhawk

Options are good, watching one brand constantly can get tiring, even if they produce multiple content shows (Raw/SmackDown/NXT/etc). It’s good to se different faces and such, and it’s nice to see talent who wouldn’t normally get signed to the big time (WWE) get given a chance someplace else.

Wishing death on that is not good in my books.

      Tnas options
      1. Move to a new night (again)
      2. Compete with thursday night football and wwe smackdown
      3. Just quit (otherwise known as batistaing/cmpunking)

      • Mr_Shrimp_Vendor

Seems like option 3 is going to be their inevitable future here from what I’ve been seeing and reading so far regarding the whole debocal with TNA and SpikeTV. Was kinda hoping Glory Kickboxing would’ve taken the wednesday night slot though tbh. That show has some of the better fights on TV imo.

    • Jared Franks

Part is smackdown of course but NFL is doing Thursday night football on a station all providers have so I call great counter move by TNA, WWE is the losers by trying to take out TNA and not thinking about NFL to compete with a show like smackdown which nobody cares to watch unless they missed raw to see what happened

    • raVen

You wwe fan boys are hilarious. Smart move by tna…for once

    • Pfc Mark Kevin Apalisok

because tna doesn’t want to compete with wwe on thursday!
