Breaking News: Hulk Hogan Signs With TNA Wrestling

The details are still coming in, but I’ve received word that Hulk Hogan has signed a contract with TNA Wrestling and will announce the deal this afternoon at a press conference from Madison Square Garden in New York City.

A source who is at Madison Square Garden has informed us that TNA Wrestling president Dixie Carter as well as several top TNA executives are at MSG for the announcement. There are Spike TV & TNA Wrestling banners at the press conference – this is about to go down in a BIG way.

UPDATE: PWInsider.com is now reporting that Eric Bischoff will be joining Hulk Hogan in TNA as well.

More on this story as it develops … Keep checking back throughout the day.

Let all the stale, lame comments about TNA being the retirement center for WWE begin any time now. Really people need to get over it and understand that its a good thing for TNA to bring in older talent so that they can work with them and help them develop ring and mic skills. Just like WWE puts some of its older talent on ECW to help the new guys get some experience from the veterans.

Ill believe it when I see it.

Webmaster better make sure someone didnt hack their account and post this news alert. LOL!!!

If its true, TNA is dead. Hogan will be good for ratings but for the actual product and advancement of TNA as a wrestling company, its not a good deal. Hes going to shine over the young guys who TNA claim they NOW want to push. Its not going to be good for morale. They just got rid of Booker T and possibly Poppa Pump is gone as well, but now TNA possibly brings in one of the biggest limelight hogs in history, Hogan? Ill wait to see how this plays out, if it does……..

TNAs facebook page is saying Hogan is going to be on this Thursdays show!

  4. JoeG510 says:

NO F-ing way!! WCW part two, here we come.

  5. Dlowhizite says:

Great exposure for TNA.. lousy for the young guys whod be up and coming… Dunno what top make of it yet.

  6. DMMDestroyer says:

This…will make or break TNA. Im not happy about this because its Hogan, but then again, this will really help the company stand out and draw attention that it normally wouldnt get. Maybe we can see some 2.0, 2.5 ratings for them finally. But I dont want to see them beat WWE in the ratings for 90 some weeks in a row and then go under….*rim shot*

As far as extending the TNA brand, it’s like Nintendo putting Super Mario Bros on XBOX 360 and PS3. It’s a good commercial move. Hulk Hogan is still the most recognized name in professional wrestling. While declined athletically, creatively a lot can be done with his character. He can also teach some of the younger guys how to have compelling story-driven matches. They don’t all have to be high spots and fast paced.

And who better to put over the TNA Legends title than Hulk Hogan? Put the strap on him and it’s instantly elevated.

And believe it or not, Hogan (hero or villain) still has one more major title run in him. Hogan Vs ? for the TNA World Heavyweight Title can be compelling depending on who the “?” is, and how well it’s built up. Regardless, this IS Hulk Hogan we’re talking about. Personally, I’d pay to see him get Muscle Bustered or hit with The Best Moonsault Ever and pinned for the title.

Bigaxe, you’re right that TNA needs SOME older guys to complement the talent, but Hogan’s not the answer! And if Bischoff’s more than just an on screen character like he was in WWE, that might be a problem. Also DMM, I don’t think it’ll help the company as much as you think it will. A lot of people are tired of Hogan (me included.) He was our Great American Hero growing up, but now that we’re all grown up we know that he’s a complete asshole (and a totally screwed up individual!) and his old rival Piper is actually one of the nice guys of wrestling.

But, Councilman TNA won’t be “dead” and JoeG510 it’s not necessarily going to be “WCW part two.” Or, if it is, it’ll be more like old WCW instead of the crappy WCW that existed for the last 2 years, which TNA is barely above at this point. Angle is still the key to making TNA something above & beyond WCW in their declining years, as well as a continued push of Matt Morgan. And because there are TNA fans that don’t get it, Styles/Joe/Daniels still need to be top bill as well. As long as we don’t have another repeat of David Arquette holding the title, TNA won’t die or be WCW part two… the question is where is it going to go now?

HOGAN IN TNA GOOD?.MAYBE THIS COMPANY IS BUILT AROUND AJ,SAMOA,DANIELS,.HOGAN COMES IN COULD BE A POSTIVE .RATINGS MORE EXPOSURE TO TNA.MORE MONEY COMING IN TO TNA TO SIGN TOP TALENT AWAY FROM VINCE.BUT NOW THE NEGATIVE?HOGAN CALLS THE SHOTS LIKE HE DID IN WCW,HOPE HE DOES NOT HAVE CREATIVE CONTROL IN HIS CONTRACT?.HE BRINGS BISHOFF ALONG WITH HIM,BISHOFF WILL THINK HE OWNS THIS COMPANY BECAUSE HE IS WITH HOGAN .BISHOFF CAN NOT TALK CRAP ABOUT RUSSO FOR HAVING A JOB IN TNA,BISHOFF IN WCW HAD BENOIT,EDDIE G,JERICHO,MYSTERIO AND HE COULDNT FINGURE OUT WHAT TO DO WITH THEM ,SO THEY GOT STUCK BEING MID CARDERS.HOPE WE DONT SEE DUGGAN,BEEFCAKE,AND KNOBBS IN TNA.PLEASE DIXIE DONT LET THEM CONTROL TNA.
