Dixie Carter Says WWE Is Trying To Shut TNA Down

Dixie Carter Says WWE Is Trying To Shut TNA Down

TNA President Dixie Carter spoke to Fred Tropel of CanMag.com and explained that TNA Wrestling is going up against a corporate juggernaut that will stop at nothing to put them out of business.

“Our competition may not have the same opinion that competition is good for an industry and take every opportunity to try to shut us down. I mean, it is the truest of David-and-Goliath situations, but we are scrappy. We will not take no for an answer, and we are going to have great success.”

With everything that WWE has going for them, Carter believes her company has a better in ring product and knows what the fans want.

“I think that these days you don’t have to be a bigger-than-life cartoon character. I mean, it’s much more about reality and what these guys can do in the ring. They are amazing athletes. I can have an all-pro football player, an NBA star on, and they say, ‘We could never do something like this.’ You have no off season. It’s 52 weeks a year, and then we tour in between that. These guys are incredible athletes, and we do focus on the athleticism on our show much, much more.”

if vince had the opportunity to buy or end tna he would.. of course he would try to kill off competition, he may not have to worry though cos if tna/hogan keep pushing the ‘nasty boys, hall, flair,’ then it will die on its own…….

  2. tnadies_2012 says:

Lets face it, TNA is the new WCW. With Hogan, Bitchoff, & the rest of wrestling’s fossils in the picture, TNA WILL SURELY FAIL! I was a fan until they got here and now, it flat out sucks! I am proudly watching the WWE cuz it is plain better and gets more fanfare. I cant wait til TNA shuts down cuz i will LMFAO!!!! But i really like to see Samoa Joe & Beer Money in WWE. WWE RULZ! TNA SUCKS!

  3. rockinyourmom says:

dixie….your hot n rich but…stfu seriously you have hulk hogan ,nash, bischoff, hall, waltman, and nash in the same company. They have nothin to offer at this point and wont be nothin but wcw all over again

  4. 09Shan says:

TNA is so arrogant TNA believe WWE are more worried than they really are

  5. killquik says:

well if you guys and hogan trying t start a war why shouldn’t the do whats best

  6. Lyght94 says:

i hate tna all they do the product the stars and the stories not saying it all sucks but even the knockouts are pissing me off wrestlers that should be pushed are not they being held back by grandpa wrestlers and stars who couldn’t get over in the 80’s who can’t hit a suplex look at beer money and mcmg nothing but the thing that really pisses me off is that they say we are not trying to take wwe out correct if im wrong and i know im not wasn’t hogan who started this war were going after wwe brother lol not much anyone can even say please someone disagree with me and tell me gimme 20 things tna has that is good maybe 10 lol.

  7. Boogey says:

TNA TNA stop crying and face the fact WWE is just better if you just keep your mouth shut make you would be at a higher level but you keep trying to make out like the WWE is not #1 and your are WWE could have the night off and beat you so TNA shut the hell up !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! and stop crying

  8. gcmissouri says:

Well, TNA is looking like that it COULD BECOME WCW there tnadies. It’s not quite there yet, although the fact that Hall & X-Pac & the Nasty Boys around definitely concerns me. But if you think WWE is “plain better” you’re either not actually watching TNA or you’re in love with John Cena. Who cares if it “gets more fanfare,” whatever that means?!?! If TNA doesn’t let the oldies take over and Hogan/Bischoff actually do things right this time & let the young TALENTED guys in TNA (including Joe & Beer Money whom you mentioned) be a big part of the show, then they have a legitimate shot at moving in on WWE. But I’m sure that someone like you that’s a fan of an organization that’s currently providing us with such compelling action from guys like Sheamus and Drew McIntyre would disagree.

  9. mostwrestlingfansareidiots says:

For the better part of a decade WWE has been dominant and it sucked, the attitude era was when they were at their best simply because they had competition. The last decade for WWE has been rubbish and uninspiring. It annoys the hell out of me reading dumb comments about Dixie Carter and the old guys, granted change isn’t always a good thing, but most of you like lobotomised sheep have jump back to WWE cuz TNA has made quite a few big changes, I’m not saying that it’s going to work out for TNA but I’d much rather retain a small amount of hope them than go back to watching Sheamus, Hornswoggle, DX, and women who forced to ridicule themselves so McMahon can jerk off in his office. Guys, it’s been a month since this thing kicked off, be patient and pray we don’t have another ten years of Triple H and Randy Orton matches.

  10. JohnyH says:

If Vince McMahon wanted to shut TNA down they would be down by now. TNA are committing suicide anyway since they are moving to Mondays, you can’t have Hogan and Hardy debut on every show, after a few months they would be devoured.

  11. benjmann25 says:

Wow, how many WWE marks are on here! One, you can’t make judgments on the changes TNA is making till AT LEAST 6 months if not a year. One month is not enough time to make judgments like that. I am hoping they will do the right thing for business, and TNA’s numbers have been going up as of late since the changes, so we will see. TNA in my opinion has a better in-ring performance than WWE right now, and frankly putting TNA and WWE up head to head would make the whole industry better, since WWE as the major monoploy has made wrestling stale. And the comparison with WCW, well how is that bad. WCW beat WWE for how many weeks during the monday night war? 70-80? Saying WCW was a failure, is a joke, because they did better than WWE for so long, and brought competition that made the industry better. WWE buying up TNA would be rthe death blow to American wrestling as we know it, so those of you wanting to see that, you are definitely WWE marks. You can try to be wrestling experts or you can be marks…you can’t be both!!

  12. I really, really think that TNA is trying way WAAAY too hard to get press for themselves by mentioning WWE. This is a one sided war, WWE im sure hardly cares about what TNA is doing because Vince is smart, and he’s been through this before, and so he knows that they will fail. its just a cycle that the wrestling world will always get into: a small company will pick up the big company’s leftovers, recook it, but it still is gonna taste like crap. Thats the comparison to TNA, its crap compared to what the wwe is doing. I am tired of the push they give John Cena over and over and over again, but it beats watching Eric Bischoff and Hogan talk about how they’re changing the world of wrestling. Uh, no you are not Mr. Bischoff. You are just resurrecting the WCW but giving it a different name. TNA, they will have their moment, maybe just for a while, but it will die out, TNA will fade into the sunset, and WWE will be sure to pick up the talent that TNA failed to use. WWE doesn’t need to buy TNA or try and put them out of business because as mentioned by many of the older posts, TNA will kill itself off, and the process has already begun.

  13. BenJMann25: the comparison to WCW is relevent in the sense that WCW picked up all the superstars that WWE let go of. But now, its worse because all the wrestlers they are picking up are totally irrelevent to the times. At the time WCW was at its prime, they had a worldly popular Hulk Hogan, Scott Hall, Kevin Nash, Bret Hart ETC. all former WWE superstars. THE DIFFERENCE NOW: Hulk Hogan is definately not as popular as he once was, and Kevin and Scott are way past their prime. You could even make the case that TNA is making a business move that is worse than WCW, because they are picking up former big names like DDP, Honky Tonk Man, but its moves like this that will eventually ruin TNA. TIme is TNA’s enemy, because stale or not, WWE puts on a consistant product most of the time

  14. edge2010 says:

tna’s biggest was hiring a woman whoknows about the wrestling business and hiring old washed up hasbeens like the nasty boys and hulk hogan hogan and bischoff wiill do to tna what they did to wcw run it into the ground and jeff jarrett is the heart and soul of tna with out him there would be no tna so as far as i am concerned tna dixie carter hulk hogan and eric bischoff can get lost

  15. edge2010 says:

tna’s biggest mistake was hiring a woman whoknows about the wrestling business and hiring old washed up hasbeens like the nasty boys and hulk hogan hogan and bischoff wiill do to tna what they did to wcw run it into the ground and jeff jarrett is the heart and soul of tna with out him there would be no tna so as far as i am concerned tna dixie carter hulk hogan and eric bischoff can get lost

  16. edge2010 says:

dixie carter knows nothing about the wrestling business

  17. jaxall says:

TNA is never gonna beat WWE they are way too behind to be even thinking this now heres why.
WWE has Raw monday nights 2 hours sometimes 3 hour shows every week plus the replays which is 4-6 hour shows. Friday Night Smackdown same thing 2 hours show plus the replay = 4 hours WWE experience 1 hour, WWE superstars 1 hour, Every year theyhost raw in Iraq for the Troops 2-3 hours,ECW 1 hour show,The Hall of Fame,PPV’s 3-4 hours every month and the biggest of all Wrestlemania which has even beaten the Superbowl in the past in Ratings and people showing up and they have live shows everyday too boot.Merchendise, Movies, Games, Music, hell even Ice Cream.

Now lets look at TNA. They have TNA impact 2 hour show,Live events and PPV’s and thats it how your going to beat WWE is beyond me i mean they are a billion $ corp even WCW was a billion $ corp and look what happened to them. Now with TNA being a 30 million $ corp with one show every week and having broke down wrestlers from WCW working there now says to me there not even close to beating anybody it literly took one show for me to never watch TNA ever again and that was taking away the six sided ring also bringing in Hogan and Bishoff. seriously the only thing i see TNA beating is them selves between the legs.

  18. MattMan says:

Dixie needs to get over herself, TNA is no way near WWE’s league yet

  19. JamieEvsxx says:

not trying to be funny but…if Dixie really thinks pushing has beens is gonna help…then shes stupid…people don’t wanna see has beens taking over the company…they wanna see great wrestlers like AJ, Angle, Daniels, Joe etc…and she should get rid of Hogan and Bischoff…coz ever since they came to TNA they’ve been running the company to the ground…coz now its gone from getting has beens (which they’re still doing) to getting rid of the 6 sided ring to copying one the biggest moments in WWE history…NO MORE HOGAN !!!…NO MORE BISCHOFF !!!…WE WANT 6 SIDES AND GREAT WRESTLING !!!…NO MORE HAS BEENS !!!

  20. GreatRedBeard says:

TNA has the best wrestling talent in the world (MCMG, Young Bucks, Anderson, Joe, Daniels, Styles, Wolfe, Amazing Red, those are just off the top of my head). That being said, I am uncomfortable with the creative direction of the company, with Bishoff and Hogan appearing every other segment. But if TNA wises up and starts using their talent correctly, then this war could get interesting. Somebody above mentioned that WWE has far more air time and that is a problem for TNA. I think that the company would benefit from more airtime: another two hour show would let them really showcase all of their talent instead of just the main eventers. And they need to fire The Nasty boys, Hall, Pac, and Steiner as soon as possible. I hope that Bishoff realizes this soon.

  21. donkey says:

Dixie is Ted Turner. Eric doesn’t know that The Brian, Orlando, Morley, Ken, & Moore were all middle cards in WWF.

  22. benjmann25 says:

Brandon, sorry if i complete disagree with you. Look at the young guys they are pushing..AJ (with getting a rub from Flair), Hernandez and Morgan, Desmond Wolfe, the Pope, the X division guys getting their own PPV. yeah, the Honky Tonk Man has a LONG shot of ever coming to TNA. Frankly, I would like to see DDP make a few appearances in TNA. Everyone is pissing and moaning about this WAYYY too quickly. With any major change in a business, you have to give it a minimum of 6 months before you start judging the changes they are making because this change doesn’t come overnight. If they had kept the 6 sided ring and made no changes, they would never get past the 1.0 rating they were getting, so they would never be able to compete with WWE if they didn’t. WWE has time as their enemy because they have regularly been losing PPV buys and if this trend continues in the years to come, they are in trouble. TNA has to get a bit more mainstream if they are ever going to compete. Interesting that you say that WWE will pick up the talent that TNA doesn’t use (highly doubt it by the way, look at the TNA guys that went to WWE currently), and look at the guys that WWE screwed up and dropped the ball on: Pope, Anderson, etc. and look how they are being used. Frankly, thats why you need two companies so if a wrestler isn’t getting used at one, he can go to the other. It’s called a business and competition, and if you want TNA to go out of business, than you asking for the death of wrestling in the US, since WWE has gotten stale (regularly not ocasionally) since 2001 when WCW and ECW went out of business.

  23. SamCactus101 says:

Just one lil thing to say…… WWE all the way! *RAH!*

  24. Motormouth5150 says:

Hmmmmm….Pope is in a no-where feud with Desmond Wolfe…and Anderson is plying super hero against Jarret…Okay WWE dropped the ball on them but TNA is tarnishing their names….Opps they never had a name…and using the gimmicks they did in wwe is just sad…The X-division is what TNA was known for but after Bischoff gets through with it there won’t be a X-division because he treats those stars as filler for the main eventers…But hey I could be wrong, I hope I am because wrestling needs another monday night war…

  25. grunt says:

uh NO Dixie I believe Hogan/Bitch-off is gonna do that.
