TNA Wrestlinig Announces The Signing of Hulk Hogan

The following press release was issued today by Total Nonstop Action Wrestling and Spike TV:

HULK HOGAN JOINS TNA WRESTLING
Legendary Wrestler and Pop Culture Icon Returns To The Ring With Fast-Rising Wrestling Organization

“Hulkamania” is back! The biggest name in professional wrestling history, Hulk Hogan, is joining Total Non-Stop Action Wrestling (TNA), the fastest rising wrestling organization in the world and home to one of cable television’s highest rated shows for young men, TNA iMPACT! The announcement was made today by TNA Wrestling in conjunction with Spike TV at a press conference held in New York City.

“Hulk Hogan is one of the world’s top pop culture icons and the biggest superstar in the history of professional wrestling. We are truly excited to welcome him into the TNA family,” said Dixie Carter, President of TNA Wrestling. “Our goal is to become the world’s biggest professional wrestling company. Hulk defines professional wrestling and we look forward to partnering with him in a variety of ways as we continue to grow TNA globally.”

“I’m thrilled to be jumping back into the world of professional wrestling,” said Hogan. “My fans have been asking me to return to the business for many years on a full time basis, but the timing or the opportunity has never been right until now. TNA Wrestling is a great company with an already excellent fan base, business and broadcast partner. I firmly believe now is the time for some change at TNA as they are positioned to jump to the next level in their development and I’m here to work with Dixie to help make that a reality.”

Through Hogan’s partnership with Bischoff Hervey Entertainment Television, the deal with TNA was negotiated by longtime Hogan colleague Eric Bischoff. Additionally, BHE TV has inked a first-look deal with TNA and will be working with the organization to develop new programming extensions of the TNA brand.

“Hulk Hogan adds yet another level of star power that positions TNA iMPACT as Spike TV’s version of ‘Must-See TV’ on Thursday nights,” said Kevin Kay, president of Spike.

Hogan most recently penned an autobiography with Mark Dagostino, “My Life Outside The Ring” with St. Martin’s Press.

Maybe we will get lucky and they will fire Russo now. From what I know Bischoff Hogan both dont like Russo. Oh wait…. Im sure Bischoff Hogan will have full control of how they are used so I guess that wont matter much anyway…. Like I said in the other post, WCW part 2 here we come!

I never thought I would see the day that TNA is litterally picking up all the scraps WWE leaves behind. Nigel McGuiness is one but, he is suspiocious refusing to answer about the problem he had with the contract he had with WWE. Looks like somone failed a physical. Now this. I wouldnt be too suprised if they pick up Ric Flair next, I mean come on how are you going to build a company on guys who are in their fifties and have been retired for years before they signed him. If TNA cannot sign Styles, I excepect WWE to intervine. Hey, the Hulkmania age in WWE has been over for years, the Phenomnal Age in TNA has just started.

    OHHHHHHHHHH MYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYY GOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOD!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  5. DMMDestroyer says:

*tears* Please dont kill TNA, Hogan, If you do, Professional Wrestling will be officially dead. Maybe its a conspiracy, Hogans doing this for Vince so that Vince can buy out TNA in 2 years, lol. THEY WERE IN IT ALL ALONG, WEVE BEEN SWERVED I TELL YOU, SWERVED!!!!

This is really sad. Great for Hulk to work but I dont think he can be a great performer anymore. Plus didnt TNA just sign some Wolf guy away from WWE, that just shows that he will be brushed aside. The Hugster was great in his time which was a long time ago. I hope at least they let him be Hollywood instead of that vitamin drinking guy. the only way TNA gets another shot at taking points away from WWE is if they sign a Rock like player

I would just like to drop the big WTF??? Im a die hard TNA fan, have been for a long time. This seems to go solidly against the Double J guitar rejection of Hogan we had in the past. Hold on to your @sses, its gonna get…. …actually Im not sure what its gonna get.

  8. rowdysk316 says:

It will all probably fall out like last time.

According to Mark Madden, TNA will be adding a second weekly show to their television schedule. When, you ask? Monday nights from 8:00-10:00PM ET head-to-head with WWEs RAW.

While the time frame of when this will happen isnt confirmed, we can report exclusively that a second show on Mondays from 8-10PM ET is in the plans right now.

MONDAY NIGHT WAR PART 2!!!!!! I hope this lights a fire up WWEs A$$!

As far as extending the TNA brand, it’s like Nintendo putting Super Mario Bros on XBOX 360 and PS3. It’s a good commercial move. Hulk Hogan is still the most recognized name in professional wrestling. While declined athletically, creatively a lot can be done with his character. He can also teach some of the younger guys how to have compelling story-driven matches. They don’t all have to be high spots and fast paced.

And who better to put over the TNA Legends title than Hulk Hogan? Put the strap on him and it’s instantly elevated.

And believe it or not, Hogan (hero or villain) still has one more major title run in him. Hogan Vs ? for the TNA World Heavyweight Title can be compelling depending on who the “?” is, and how well it’s built up. Regardless, this IS Hulk Hogan we’re talking about. Personally, I’d pay to see him get Muscle Bustered or hit with The Best Moonsault Ever and pinned for the title.

This is such a shame on Hulk Hogan. I love him a lot but he is leaving an unstable life. McMahon made him a fascination to the world, but he keeps going on using his WWF acquired fame to improve other companies. That is certainly not fair. Like it fell apart in WCW, I think it is going to again. And again, this guy’s an old chap what impact can he make at an old age like this??

I wish TNA takes time to watch the rise and fall of WCW cos I think they are following the trail.

    Awesome! Now ditch Russo!
