Update On The Fandango Revolution & It’s Mainstream Attention

– As you can imagine, WWE is thrilled with the exposure that Fandango and his theme song have been getting over the past week. WWE has been pushing the Fandango Revolution on Twitter, asking fans and popular brands to take the “Fandango challenge” and upload video of them Fandangoing. They are also encouraging fans to download Fandango’s theme song, ChaChaLaLa, from iTunes and make it their ringtones.

– Fandango’s theme song, ChaChaLaLa, has been played at several professional sporting events over the past week, including games for the Buffalo Sabres NHL team and the UK’s Everton Football Club.

BuzzFeed.com has an article up about Fandango’s entrance theme racing up the Billboard charts. FOXNews.com also has an article up looking at the Fandangoing craze.

– Fandango tweeted this to the Houston Texans cheerleaders for their video we posted earlier this week [view here]:

– Fandango was referenced in the end credits of VH-1?s show Best Week Ever. Check out the video below via the show’s Twitter and Vine accounts:

Open question to the site: Is Fandango (I am sorry: Faaann…Daann…Gooo) the new Zack Ryder? I base this on internet popularity and meme development and growth. And if the answer is yes, what could happen to the latter?

    • Richard Sanders

I wouldn’t call him the next Zack Ryder. Fandango, or at least his song, got over fairly quickly and Vince Mcmahon is a huge fan of Fandango, unlike Ryder.

Fandango has a lot better inring skills than Ryder and a lot more weirdness to his personality. In wrestling that can mean a character that can be really over with the crowd.

I think Ryder’s ring work is fine. Just like most wrestlers who get little air time, they’re even more limited in what they’re allowed to do.

Fandango doesn’t talk with a weird gay (not that there is anything wrong with that) lisp. As much as he has a very strange gimmick, it doesn’t embarrass me to be a fan of his.

Looks like we have the new Zack Ryder.

lmao told ya all from the beginning he’d be the next big thing, noone believed me! TOLD YOU SOOOO

Zack Ryder comparisons understandable but this will go a different way. Ryder was established as a jobber and WWE didn’t want to push him. He got himself over with the crowd and received a minor push but WWE didn’t go to the moon because they didn’t want him there effectively. They had no control over the Ryder popularity and it wasn’t due to them.

Fandango was a character created by Vince McMahon, who they were very keen on, and a wrestler in development for many years waiting for the right character. He has been established as an undefeated man winning against a major player at WM in his debut. His entrance music along with his on screen persona got him over, so very much the WWE’s doing, accidental or not.

WWE will likely push Fandango to the moon, and the only thing limiting him is his own personal ability to keep up with it. Where as Ryder was fighting a battle against a creative team that had no interest in him. You can also argue Johnny Curtis is a much better wrestler, but I’ll leave that up to peoples opinions.

Great analysis, kudos. I can just imagine Fandango defeating Zack Ryder for the Internet Championship. It can very much happen thanks to Vinnie Mac and in my opinion, can also be the last nail in the coffin for him.

Do you know what is going to kill this? WWE. Why? Because even though they created the entire thing, it was the fans that had fun with it that are the reason it’s become so huge so fast. Like everything else, they see dollar signs and will likely leech on this until after it is far past dead.

This is not a “Fandango” revolution.
    This is a “ChaChaLaLa” revolution.
And like with any song, people are going to get tired of it.

    Just like Gangnam Style.

Are we supposed to think he was a ballroom dancer, turned WWE superstar and take it seriously, or are we supposed to just humour his character? I’m quite confused by the character tbh.

Don’t forget the Kansas City Royals. Everytime they win they play chachalala. I promoted it like crazy on twitter and now they use it.

His music is catchy, but so far I don’t care much about him. I like his dancer though, she has that sleek sexy look about her.
