War Games Match Unlikely For New WWE Battleground PPV, Final RAW Rating

-Upon hearing the news that WWE changed the name of their upcoming October pay-per-view show to “,” many fans had speculated that the old “” match from would be used at the event. While such a match would seem to be an organic fit on a show called Battleground, it appears that there will not be a match on the card.

The seating chart for the building that the event will be held in was recently released, and did not include a set-up that would accomodate two rings. Additionally, the pay-per-view takes place after Battleground, on October 27th, and the idea of having two gimmick-matches in a steel cage on back-to-back WWE PPVs is highly unlikely.

-The Monday, July 29th taped-edition of scored a final cable rating of 2.87, according to Nielsen Media Research. The 2.87 final draw is down from last week’s 2.94 cable rating.

of course not. the fact that a wcw match is still remembered so fondly has to eat at Vinnie Mac’s ego

Why is WWE switching PPVs around and keep throwing in new PPV names?? Like seriously, they are messing everything up!!

    • Seachai Chan

Change all the PPV names back goddamit. and find room for WWE battleground.. that’s what I would do, otherwise don’t do anything if you don’t know what you’re doing here !

Vince thinks that the fans like HIAC being a PPV name when it fact it’s suppose to have ALWAYS BEEN A TYPE OF MATCH.

always liked backlash and it was on for like 10 years i don’t get why the took it out. nothing against extreme rules but i was always excited for backlash

Lets bring back In Your House might as well anyways with all the name changes

I would love to see a WWE War Games match, but it would have to be done right. If WWE is all about the theme PPVs that would be a good one to bring back. So would BRINGING BACK KING OF THE RING.

I’d like to see King of the Ring as a PPV again. I hated how WWE had the entire thing play out on raw instead of a PPV. Having your quarter finals on raw or SD is fine but why not have your semi-finals and finals on the actual PPV? I loved how they did it in 2001.

i loved the old king of the ring concept and i don’t see a reason why they don’t have it anymore. i liked how you would find out the main event at summerslam with 2 months of build like lesnar and rock

Not that he necessarily knows for sure but I heard Solomonster say once that it’s because Vince and the WWE as a whole aren’t too fond of tournament gimmicks. Which I think is stupid. If anything, a tournament, whether it be King of the Ring or another credible one, gives a sense of realism.

I love the idea of the King of the Ring as well as the original format of Survivor Series, with all of the matches being setup as team eliminations!

    Bring in the Rock!

Very good points made. I always thought a ‘modern’ War Games match can take place in one ring, similar to the Lethal Lockdown match in TNA.

I would like to see a World War 3 type event. There is only one Battle Royal PPV at the moment, being the Royal Rumble. (I hear what you say the arena is too small.) Another idea is to have a Survivor Series like Royal Rumble match combining the two PPVs. You can have 6 teams with 5 members each, starting off with two in the ring and having a new superstar enter every 90 seconds. The last team that remains in the ring be it all 5 members or just one is the winner.
