WrestleMania 29 Card Update, Jake Roberts Talks Hogan, WWE Inbox, GI Joe Trailer

– As noted earlier this week in our “What Happened After RAW” report, and John Cena had a face-to-face confrontation after the TV broadcast ended, with both men pointing at the sign hanging above the arena. According to WWE sources, vs. Cena match is one of the matches that’s a lock for April’s big show. Lesnar vs. Triple H is also booked, with Triple H expected to return to WWE television in the weeks ahead to confront Lesnar for putting Vince out of action with an F5. As of this past weekend, The Undertaker’s status for WrestleMania is still unconfirmed. While it’s possible that he does wrestle CM Punk, other plans are already being discussed for Punk’s opponent in the event that the Undertaker takes this year off. One idea was for Punk to be added to vs. Cena match, making it a triple threat match. It is more likely Punk will get paired up with another main event superstar in an effort to keep him at the top of the card.

– WWE legend spoke to ESPN980.com this week about never getting a big run with Hulk Hogan, his hatred of Bill Watts and more.

The Miz and his fellow Superstars consider who among them would be the first to die in a horror movie. See if you agree with their picks in WWE Inbox.

– Here is the latest trailer for The Rock’s new GI Joe: Retaliation movie, in theaters March 29th:

The most anticipation I’ve built for myself for a Wrestlemania was for WM17. Even thought this one is looking GREAT so far, I just can’t get that feeling I got with WM17. I’ll be HAPPY to watch it tho.

    • WWEFan4Life

I agree, WM17 was perhaps the best WM in history and nothing can beat it, But I agree with you that WM29 will be great.

  • Thenewera

I know Taker vs Punk would be a awesome match but for story wise and build up I’d rather see Shield vs Taker. Plus Throwing punk with Cena and Rock would make that match more watchable. I would also like to see Orton vs Jericho feud in some fashion. But other than Shield vs Taker it would make since to do Lesnar vs Taker.

    • Simba

I agree. A triple threat at ‘mania is the best course of action. At least then WWE can still claim last year to be “once in a lifetime” Unless and well I speculate about this for every high profile feud Cena has so don’t judge me. Unless WWE are going to have Cena turn heel at ‘mania by debuting a new faction that attacks the Rock under Cena’s leadership and he takes the title. If not then either have the triple threat or have Punk challenge Cena for his title opportunity at Raw.
Honestly the best route the WWE could have taken (my opinion) would have been to have Cena challenge for the WHC and have Ziggler cash in at EC to become champ setting up Cena/Ziggler for WM instead of wasting all that time on their feud.

    • WWEFan4Life

I agree that making it a triple threat for the WWE championship would be quite good, but to be honest, I would rather watch Taker v Punk, but if they did it like a triple threat that would already be way better than just plain boring Rock v Cena.

As for Shield v Taker, it would really be good for the Shield because it would certainly build them up as a heel team, but (I know this isn’t possible but its just an idea) I would rather see the Shield with a new member (a heel Randy Orton, perhaps) V Shawn Michaels HHH, Road Dogg and Billy Gunn because again, that would build them as a heel tag team as well, and then this would leave Lesnar v Taker which you,I and everybody else already knows would be totally awesome. :P

  • WWEFan4Life

Rock V Cena 2? No, I do not want to see that AGAIN… last year, I thought they were going to have a good match, and I got myself sooo excited for it…. when the match was over, I was wondering why I even bought the PPV. Other than Punk v Jericho, all the other matches were just as boring as hell, and what I thought would be the highlight of the night (Rock v Cena) turned out to be the worst of the night. But all of the other matches look quite good especially Punk v Taker.

    • WWEFan4Life

All of the other matches on Wrestlemania 29, I mean

    • http://www.facebook.com/people/Peer-Pressure/100000691268185 Peer Pressure

Punk vs Jericho was also boring. Taker and HHH had the best match. I agree though, I don’t want to see Rock vs Cena 2.

      • cenasucks

Punk was Jericho was a wrestling clinic. Yes, the crowd was not pumped for the match due to the fact that they were tired from the emotional battle of Taker and HHH, but the match itself was a great wrestling match.

        • WWEFan4Life

          Exactly

      • WWEFan4Life

Yeah, forgot about Taker v HHH,lol

      • synkara

Punk and Jericho wasn’t boring. That was real pro wrestling at some of its finest. I remember early 90’s WCW matches that went over 25 minutes with no big gimmicks or playing to the crowd – just straight competitive-looking wrestling. now its like if someone holds a limp headlock for 20 seconds the crowd starts with the “boring” chants. They have only seen pure performance wrestling, without even a hint of the sports-like performance of Flair, Simmons, Luger, Sting, WIndham, Anderson, Muta. Punk vs Jericho could go 60 minutes and still be great. So could Punk vs Bryan

        • Name Goes Here

We need Punk in an Iron Man Match at a PPV. Put him against Bryan, Jericho or Ziggler and it would be a classic.

    • GMpunk

Rock vs Cena was defiantely not the worst match of the night.. it was actually really entertaining. I’d compare it to Hulk vs Rock at WM18 but better! Get off of the “Cena sucks” bandwagon, he’s really not that bad just the way WWE uses him os old and stale.

      • WWEFan4Life

lol, what was the worst match of the night, then?

        • synkara

          the divas tag match was

          • WWEFan4Life

Divas tag match was very good… for a Divas match, which to be honest, is really saying a lot, lol

        • BOOCH

          Team Teddy vs Team Laurnitis

          • WWEFan4Life

Hmmmm…. that match was ok but certainly not the worst

          • WWEFan4Life

The worst match was the pre-show, Primo and Epico v Tyson Kidd and Justin Gabriel v The Usos for the tag team titles

        • http://www.facebook.com/HershBar Hershey Maxwell Barber

          Sheamus vs Bryan.

          • WWEFan4Life

That was 18 seconds, so to be fair, you do not have a lot to be complaining about.

          • http://www.facebook.com/HershBar Hershey Maxwell Barber

To be fair, it being 18 seconds is worse enough, but yes I do have a lot to complain about it.

          • WWEFan4Life

Ok… but you have to agree that Daniel Bryan v Sheamus at extreme rules was their best of their rivalry, ill let you of for the WM Match

        • GMpunk

I’d say Rock vs Cena was actually the third best on the show!

          • WWEFan4Life

Ok…. I think that people would argue that, though

    • Lester Foxx

People wouldn’t be bothered with the gimmick match Cena and Rock had last year if it was really a “once in a lifetime match”. The problems are : 1. in RR we see Rock can still wrestle good matches. 2. Rock vs Cena isn’t a once in a life time thing. People are pissed because we don’t want to see another gimmick match featuring same people. Unlike last year, we now have expectations for the Rock to sell good performance, and we know Rock vs Cena 2 isn’t going to deliver.

      • WWEFan4Life

No, people are pissed because last years match was boring, and we know what to expect, not that its just a gimmick match, yes, I admit that rock can still hold a good match its just Rock v Cena is just not going to deliver, as you said.

      • WWEFan4Life

The fact that it is a gimmick match changes absolutely nothing. If they had a match last year that made me go “Wow, that was awesome,I need to see that again” like the Punk v Rock match at RR, but it didn’t The only thing that would make me keep interested if it was like an extreme rules match or anything but a singles, because otherwise, I wouldn’t be even remotely interested.

  • Lord Spliffmeister

Just make it Y2J vs Punk again & name it WM : The Rematches. The whole build up 2 Mania has been pathetic leave it 2 WWE 2 have all this talent at hand & still can’t manage 2 put on decent fucking shows.I mean nothing & I mean nothing has got me excited 4 Mania.Fuck u Vince n ur idiotic team of writers!! XD

  • Nelson Correia

WWE copying Hollywood ideas: Rock vs Cena – WWE Wrestlemania 28 the remake :P

  • wwetnadudez

Quite frankly if UT can’t wrestle and Rock Vs Cena 2 is a singles match then that means that you have the options of (faces) Miz, CJ, Ryback as your top three main event type of matches.

WWE is moving in a direction that makes it seem like Jericho and Ziggler will go at it at WM.

My guess is Ryback Vs. Punk will not happen again until sometime post WM season.

So that leaves the Miz, it won’t be all that big of a match but it COULD be, WWE wants Ric and they are clearly on good terms, you bring back Ric as Miz’s manager and pit him in his corner to make the match have a more special feeling (Ric or Mick, either makes sense due to the recent events) plus the Miz can probably work with Punk and Punk can carry the mic work and plus with the right people Miz isn’t too bad in the ring with.

    • Reality

Putting Punk against Miz (Flair or no Flair) is such a HUGE blow for Punk’s status. NEVER should that match be booked for WM

      • wwetnadudez

Well really with WWE wanting rematches with Brock/HHH and Rock/Cena, Orton turning heel, ADR already having a match (tbd at EC though), and Sheamus rumored for Orton or imo, The Shield, who is really left on the baby face side? Rey? I totally agree with you but if you don’t add him to the WWE title match and UT cant wrestle thats the only alternative I can see, perhaps he and Brock team up against Vince and HHH or something..

        • Reality

To be honest, I’d rather put him in the main event to make it a triple threat, but I completely get your point

          • wwetnadudez

It’s just that WWE tends to screw themselves like this sometimes with a main eventer facing a special opponent and then its like wait what now? Same thing happened to Cena after Rock and Brock, luckily it happened after WM for him.

  • OhioMan

How can you say the build up to Wrestlemania has been terrible when we haven’t even had Elimination Chamber yet? Give them a damn chance.

  • Chris Collier

how about Cena turns heel at EC and joins the Sheild… That would make everything more interesting…
