Wrestlemania1WrestleMania (1985)
Date: March 31, 1985
Venue: Madison Square Garden
Attendance: 19,121
Hall Of Famers: Tito Santana, Ricky Steamboat, Iron Sheik, Nikolai Volkoff, Greg “The Hammer” Valentine, Andre the Giant, Big John Studd, Wendi Richter, Hulk Hogan, Rowdy Piper, and Paul Orndorff.

In 1983, Hulk Hogan was fired from the WWF for appearing in Rocky III. Vince J. McMahon felt it was a breach of contract (it may also have been part of the hype for the upcoming event). However, the notoriety Hulk received from being in the movie forced McMahon to welcome him back in 1984. In a nice promotional move McMahon then hired Hulk’s Rocky III costar Mr T to wrestle as Hulk’s tag team partner in the main event.

Probably an alright show for being in 1985. The main event was pretty big. But hard for a more modern fan to watch.

It’s a thing of beauty to see how far Wrestlemania has come.

Paul Bearer passed away tonight. :(

    I will miss him! RIP!

This is kinda a half-assed article. First your Hogan timeline’s all wrong. Second, Rocky III came out in early 1982. Third, you left out 14 HOFers: Bob Orton, Jimmy Snuka, JYD, Pat Patterson, Johnny Valiant, Gene Okerlund, Gorilla Monsoon, Jesse Ventura, Fabulous Moolah, Bobby Heenan, Lou Albano, Jimmy Hart, Freddie Blassie, and Bruno Sammartino. Last, VJ McMahon had nothing to do with Hogan coming back to WWE or with bringing in Mr. T.

Hulk wasn’t allllll that terrible. Look at this spot that he probably practiced for months.
