WWE Invites Glenn Beck To Appear On RAW

WWE has invited conservative political pundit Glenn Beck to attend WWE RAW & sent out the following announcement on Friday:

STAMFORD, Conn., February 22, 2013 – WWE has extended an invitation to talk show host and political commentator, Glenn Beck to appear live this Monday on Raw, in response to a segment that aired on TheBlaze TV yesterday. In the segment, Beck references WWE as “stupid wrestling people,” when criticizing a recent WWE storyline involving WWE characters Heavyweight Champion Alberto Del Rio®, Jack Swagger® and Zeb Colter®. WWE is giving Beck the opportunity to address our 14 million weekly viewers and our global fan base, as he believes we are offending our “conservative” fans with this storyline.

Similar to other television shows and feature films, WWE is in the entertainment business, creating fictional characters that serve as protagonists or antagonists. To create compelling and relevant content for our audience, it is important to incorporate current events into our storylines. WWE is creating a rivalry centered on a topical subject that has varying points of view. This storyline was developed to build the Mexican American character Del Rio into a hero given WWE’s large Latino base, which represents 20 percent of our audience.

The old WWF would of just took a jab at him in a promo. Not invite him on the damn show, like he would show up anyway.

To me this means they are definately staying with the Swagger Vs. Del Rio feud. WWE is probably just going to give Swagger a big fine and put him on probation.

    Glenn Beck?? Why?????
I’ll do it for free WWE!!!

But nobody wants to see you, even for free. Glenn Beck on the other hand has a national TV and radio show that could help cross promote him showing up. Plus all the other new outlets out there that would pick up coverage of someone like Beck showing up to a WWE show.

    He’ll probably Cry or something

    • heterosexual

he’s more likely to go on a crazy rant and get his mic cut off, this guy is very over the top

  • Idonoteven

If he appears live on RAW he’s either going to be feed to Ryback, or get swarmed by the Shield for the injustice remark!

    14 million viewers???

  • TrueFan

Good! Bring Linda back to for a show so they both get booed and embarrassed for being white washed people in the politics game

  • Rock Solid

The WWE is changing into something different from its usual, and they’re going to use this storyline as a bumper. CM Punk started it two years ago bringing up real life issues and politics within the WWE. Swagger’s gimmick is pushing WWE into a more realistic atmosphere with real life issues and politics outside of WWE. Don’t expect any bold aggressive prejudice and/or racism. It will be hinted here and there in small ways, but not enough to cause uproar from organizations or their own shareholders.

Alex Jones slammed wrestling in relation to his being mentioned by Michael Cole as well.

Maybe next week Beck will criticize Darth Vader and David Prowse (the guy in the Vader suit in the flicks). He can do a different fictional bad guy every week. Ol’ Darth was an evil son of a bitch. He tortured his own daughter, for fucks sake. He also tweeted a pic of her legs and captioned it “Leia’s legs”…shit, that was Hogan. My bad. Anyways, you people with your panties in a wad need to realize the timeless formula of entertainment: Every hero needs a villain.
