5 Reasons Why the WWE Network Is A Must Have

WWE has changed the game once again. The world’s premiere sports entertainment company has been a pioneer with technology since the first WrestleMania: closed-circuit television, pay-per-view, an online presence since the mid 90’s, social media – and now a groundbreaking network that truly is “Way Over The Top.”

Last night at the Wynn Hotel in Las Vegas, Nevada, Vince McMahon along with other notable WWE superstars and personalities officially announced the launch of the WWE Network.

The specific details of the Network have been rumored for months, but with the irresistible force (the inclusion of all 12 WWE pay-per-views – including WrestleMania) meeting the immovable object (the “No way, Seriously??” price point), shit just got real. The 24/7 Network + Video on Demand service is the first of its kind.

After listening to the highly entertaining and informative press conference, it is clear that the WWE Network is a monumental step on how wrestling fans will consume content.

Here are five reasons why the WWE Network is a must have for any wrestling fan around the world:

1: 24/7 Live Feed

How will you watch the WWE Network?

A 24/7 network that is strictly wrestling. It’s a wrestling fan’s dream come true. You’ll feel the same adrenaline-pumping emotion when you watched Hulk Hogan body Slam Andre the Giant for the first time in front of 93,000 screaming fans.

No more NCIS before RAW or Sharknado (it’s not the worst movie in the world) before SmackDown. The WWE Network will have wrestling related content streaming all day every day, not to mention pre-shows, post-shows, behind the scenes action and interviews from superstars at RAW and SmackDown every week. Never before has there been so much content available to the WWE Universe.

2. WWE, WCW & ECW Libraries

Every WWE, WCW & ECW PPV ever? Yes, please.

Get ready for more 80’s, 90’s & 2000’s wrestling action than you can handle. The WWE Network will have over 100,000 hours (4,166 days) of WWE, WCW and ECW footage, including every WWE, WCW & ECW PPV in history – as well as every single episode of RAW, SmackDown that has ever aired.

It would take you 11 years to watch all the footage the WWE Network has to offer – and that’s just what will be available at launch.

The WWE Universe will also have access to replays of RAW, SmackDown, Main Event, Superstars and NXT each and every week with just the simple click of a button.

3. Original Series

Finally, Legends House sees the light of day.

Not a fan of Total Divas? Have no fear; there is no doubt that the WWE Network will have at least one exclusive series tailored just for you. Here is a brief run-down of each series announced at the press conference:

Legends House: A spin-off of MTV’s Real World – 8 former WWE superstars and personalities such as Roddy Piper, Mean Gene Okerlund and Pat Patterson will be living under one roof.  Of course, a camera crew is there to catch all of the hilarious, emotional and heart-stopping moments that these Legends endure in their everyday lives.

WrestleMania Rewind: With WrestleMania Rewind, the WWE Universe will get never-before-seen interviews and reactions from past and present superstars that have performed at the “Showcase of the Immortals”. Superstars such as Daniel Bryan and Randy Orton talk about their all-time favorite WrestleMania moments, Shawn Michaels talks about “the perfect match” he had with The Undertaker at WrestleMania 25 and Andre the Giant has a sit-down interview after his match with Big John Studd at WrestleMania 1. These are just some of the things that will be showcased on this series.

WWE Countdown: WWE Countdown is a one hour long series that will feature the top…well, whatever you can think of really. The very best matches, factions, catchphrases, villains, entrances, finishing moves, couples, managers, tag teams, divas and moments are just some of the categories highlighted at the press conference.

Monday Night War: Ah, of course, the Monday Night War. Everything you want and need to know about the battle between WWE and WCW will be featured in this series. Get exclusive reactions from superstars such as The Undertaker, Triple H and Shawn Michaels as they witnessed the fight right in front of their eyes. Did they honestly think they were going to go out of business? Find out by tuning in!

NXT: What better way to scout future talent and get behind a new favorite superstar than by watching WWE’s extremely popular developmental program NXT? Finally, wrestling fans will have an easily accessible, hassle-free way to watch the young superstars of tomorrow showcase their talents and try to make a name for themselves as they climb the ladder for a spot on the main roster.

4. All 12 Monthly Pay-Per-Views Included

One of the main reasons why the WWE has sold me into subscribing to the WWE Network is their dedication and vision when it comes to showcasing past and present PPVs. With the WWE Network, not only are you going to get all 12 monthly PPVs, but you will have the chance to relive every single WWE, WCW and ECW PPV in history.

In the mood to watch some old Mania’s before WrestleMania 30 airs? Just type “WrestleMania” in the search box and you will see a list of all 29 events. The same goes for any other PPV your heart desires.  That’s right, no more typing in “watch Royal Rumble 2002 for free” into the Google search engine.

Oh, what’s that? I haven’t convinced you into buying the WWE Network yet? The next category might change your mind.

5. Price

This one is the proverbial Stone Cold Stunner that seals the deal and wins you your first WWE Championship in front of 90,000 screaming fans – with your 22 year old yoga instructor girlfriend eagerly waiting for you backstage.

For just $9.99 per month, this is what you’re getting if you subscribe to the WWE Network:

  • A 24/7 live stream of WWE programming
  • Over 100,000 hours of archives and exclusive footage
  • New series such as Legends House, WrestleMania Rewind, WWE Countdown and the Monday Night War(s)
  • All 12 monthly PPV’s
  • Every single WWE, WCW and ECW PPV in history.
  • Every episode of RAW and SmackDown in WWE history

It is astonishing how cheap the WWE Network is going to cost considering all of the content that will be displayed on a 24/7 basis.  Instead of paying over $600 a month for PPVs every year, you’re paying just $9.99, and that’s one hell of a bargain if you ask me. The WWE could have charged $20-$25 a month and Twitter still would have blown up. Come on, this is a no brainer for wrestling fans.

At launch, the WWE Network will be available on virtually any platform, including WWE.com, iOS, Android & Kindle devices (via the WWE App), Playstation 3 & 4, XBOX 360. Support for XBOX One and Smart TVs is coming this summer. All you have to do is sign up at WWE.com, follow the simple instructions and you’re all set. It really couldn’t be easier.

Cue the Chris Jericho countdown clock

As John Cena announced out at the press conference, the WWE Network will officially launch on February 24, 2013 at 11:05pm directly after Monday Night RAW has concluded. The WWE has struck gold with this idea and the network will truly be a one of a kind experience and will change the entire landscape of the professional wrestling industry.

For $9.99 if it was just all of the PPV’s I’d be in! The fact that you get SO much more makes this the best deal out there for wrestling fans. Sign me up!

    • http://www.sescoops.com/author/adrianf/ Adrian Fylonenko

What WWE Network series are you interested in? I’m liking WWE Countdown. Think it’s a great idea.

It’s only $10 a month!?!? Wow… $10 for a month for PPV, and all that content. I can watch the Attitude Era all over again. lol

    • http://www.sescoops.com/author/adrianf/ Adrian Fylonenko

Not to mention WrestleMania, SummerSlam and every other monthly PPVs. You can watch the Invasion from it’s very beginning. Virtually anything you want. I can’t wait.

    • Johrdann Miller
      • http://www.sescoops.com/author/adrianf/ Adrian Fylonenko

I use that site as well, but it doesn’t have every single PPV. Still trying to find No Way Out 2006 in its entirety.

  • Some_Random_Guy

I’d get it just for the ppv, lol…

    • http://www.sescoops.com/author/adrianf/ Adrian Fylonenko

I know what you mean. But I think the other features – like WWE Countdown looks like a lot of fun – will be a welcome attraction. But for me, watching all 12 current WWE PPV’s and every single WWE, WCW and ECW PPV for 10 bucks a month sold me and I think the price is just outstanding.

      • Some_Random_Guy

Youtube has much of those for free. :)

        • http://www.sescoops.com/author/adrianf/ Adrian Fylonenko

Much of them yes, all of them no. I’m still trying to find No Way Out 2006 in its entirety.

          • Some_Random_Guy

No Way Out wasn’t too good a PPV for some people. I guess they did find a “way out” and drop it.

  • captaindaddy72

I’m in this idea is perfect for wwe, I can’t wait until it comes out

  • The Esteemed

As a life long wrestling fan, this is the best development ever. It truly is revolutionary and caters to many types of fans (Personally, I’d love to see those old Coliseum Super Tapes added!). Not having to pay $70 for Mania, or having to debate with my friends whether to buy a PPV based off the strength of a card is a major plus as well! The WWE will most definitely have me as a subscriber come February.

  • http://www.rabidpictures.com yrabadi

It all sounds too good to be true… I’m wondering about whether they’ll raise the price after the first year… I’m also wondering about quality. A LOT of people are going to be streaming ppvs live through this venue – I’m wondering if WWE will be able to handle it. Making WMXXX, in essence, the trial run… Might not be the smartest move.

    • http://www.sescoops.com/author/adrianf/ Adrian Fylonenko

Well, they said it’s going to be 720p HD on all platforms, but you’re spot on when it comes to streaming the PPVs. All we know is that it’s going to 10 bucks a month for the first 6 months, I doubt they will raise the price and if they don’t, I don’t think it will be a significant change.

It does sound too good to be true.

      • Seachai Chan

I gotta get out of college soon so I can save more money. Tuition is killing me over here.

  • mrchopper

“With your 22 year old fitness-model girlfriend eagerly waiting for you backstage.” Getting a bit overexcited there, champ.

    • http://www.sescoops.com/author/adrianf/ Adrian Fylonenko

I apologize. I must have frozen up for a few seconds while I was writing.

    • http://www.sescoops.com/ Mr 561

The WWE Network really is THAT good!

  • vipers2k9

I’m wondering about two things. One how will this effect there DVD sales cause once people figure out how to use a DVD record for everything on the Network, do you we see less in store? Streaming is one thing but you know people will try to record all the stuff to burn to DVD and rebuild their whole collection of wrestling stuff for just $10 a month.

    • http://www.sescoops.com/ Mr 561

It’s going to hurt the DVD business. WWE’s vast library of past DVD releases will be available on the Network. WWE will continue to release new DVDs. It’s unknown how soon after they are released on DVD/Blu-Ray that they’ll appear on the Network – WWE will probably hold off for a few months before adding new DVD’s, to keep some of their DVD revenue stream alive.

      • Forceton Banfodder

Seriously though, how long do you think DVD’s and Blu-Rays have before they’re phased out anyway? Hard media is dead.

        • The Esteemed

^^^ Exactly. Technology would seem to indicate that digital media and “the cloud ” will be the major channel of consumption soon anyway.

      • Seachai Chan

Can’t WWE just stream the DVDs onto the digital network and we can just download it for a couple of bucks? I doubt they will need to waste their time making a DVD.

  • Marvin B.

I think my broke as$ might get this.

    • pwnez

I’m going to end up getting it. The main reasons is because of the price and the fact that we get all 12 PPVs with no extra charge sold me. Everything else is a bonus to me.

      • Muhahaha

Yup it’s one hell of a good deal. Is the $9.99 just an intro deal or the actual cost that i’ll pay every month

      • Marvin B.

      • Cujo999

The same. I’d pay $9.99 a month just for the current PPV’s, let alone all the additional content. Pretty smart by WWE, honestly. It’s so cheap, even if you’re just a casual wrestling fan, you’d be silly not to buy it. Most on and off wrestling fans will just subscribe to the service for $10/month if there’s a PPV that looks really good instead of droppint $50-60 for one PPV, and then WWE has them hooked and gets a steady income stream from them.

    • brad

      Mine too

  • Forceton Banfodder

When I thought this was going to be an actual pay channel for my cable provider, I thought this was a doomed idea. As a Channel App, this is brilliant. Hulu, Amazon, Netflix and WWE are leading the way into the future with how we will not only want but expect our entertainment.

Seriously, this was a brilliant move by the WWE and now a lot of past stories that have been reported here are starting to make A LOT more sense.

    • pwnez

It’s a little too soon to say but I highly doubt the WWE Network is going to flop like a lot of us thought it would. This really was a great idea and will definitely change the company.

      • Forceton Banfodder

Considering how many people I know who use Netflix or Amazon or both to watch and rent media, and the fact that this channel is going to be 24/7 streaming, archived material AND every single PPV for $9.99 a month I could see this being profitable. If every fan they have subscribes, they could be looking at close to 6 Billion a year on the app alone. Not to mention the pay from people who won’t buy the app, but still pay for PPVs as well as the commercial licensing already in place. This will be a huge boon for the WWE, if not immediately than within the next few years.

      • https://twitter.com/StrangeDeranged Pozessed

Being able to watch every single Raw and Smackdown is what I am looking forward to the most, I used to love Smackdown back in the day, when Lesnar and Angle were there, epic days.

        • Progressed_Now

the rap contest between Angle & Cena lmfao. Kurt was twerking before twerking was co……..naww it was never kewl. and Hebner beatboxing rofl

          • http://www.sescoops.com/author/adrianf/ Adrian Fylonenko

Or the push-up contest between Angle and Lesnar…great memories. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XTaPuAXT1AQ

          • Progressed_Now

eh kinda mild, although the way Kurt clickety-clacks when he stumbles cracks me up. how bout this one? rap battle with Big Show lmfao!

          • http://www.sescoops.com/author/adrianf/ Adrian Fylonenko

            Hahaha nice find!

          • https://twitter.com/StrangeDeranged Pozessed

Smackdown has had so many memorable times involving Cena, Angle and Lesnar. I loved Smackdown so much, for example this segment, it had it’s comedy values but then it goes serious and they mean business. Great times.

          • GhostOfRonnieMcDonnie

LMAO classic time flies i remember watching it live

        • http://www.sescoops.com/author/adrianf/ Adrian Fylonenko

That’s what I’m excited about too, Raw and SmackDown (mainly SmackDown from 2002-2006.

  • Kindjal83

Guys, one question? Is this going to be real, like, real World wide? Here in Europe too? Or only in the US, México and Canada?

    • http://www.sescoops.com/author/adrianf/ Adrian Fylonenko

I believe that they announced that it will be available right away in the UK and some other European countries, but other places – I’m not positive where – will have to wait until the end of 2014 to get the Network.

  • http://www.sescoops.com/author/adrianf/ Adrian Fylonenko

What do you guys think about the announcement that WWE Network is going to show Chris Benoit footage? It will have an advisory at the start of every show he’s on that says “the characters portrayed in this feature are fictionalized”.

  • Johrdann Miller

I’ll stick to youtube and watchwrestling.

    • http://www.sescoops.com/author/adrianf/ Adrian Fylonenko

You really wouldn’t pay $10 dollars a month or something that is this easy to use? You have to search for a long time to find exactly what you want. I’ve tried to find No Way Out 2006 everywhere but they only show separate matches on YouTube. I like watching entire PPVs, not just the matches.

      • Johrdann Miller

No i wouldn’t. we gets half the PPVS free in the uk and the other half are only £15 including wrestlemania and watchwrestling.tv, youtube and netflix has everything else i need, watchwrestling has the entire Attitude era including ppvs. and i still have my DVD collection.

        • http://www.sescoops.com/author/adrianf/ Adrian Fylonenko

Oh you’re in the UK. That’s a big difference. I go on watchwrestling and they do a great job, but they don’t have every single PPV known to mankind like the WWE Network will have. Plus, you probably paid more for that DVD collection than you’d pay for the WWE Network, unless you burn the discs.

        • Coltcabunny

We don’t get the “B” PPVs free though, as Sky Sports is a paid extra channel (which Virgin charges stupid money for). It’s about £25 a month to simply get access to Sky Sports 3 (which RAW is on) the network cannot come soon enough to the UK.

  • Progressed_Now

I think it’s an incentive to get as many subs as possible, then I’m 99% certain they will raise the fee after a set amount of time (yet to be revealed). but indeed 10 bucks is a bargain-basement deal for such a huge treasure trove.

oh god I can finally watch all the Raws n Smackdowns from 2002/2004 when Brock Lesnar was tearing the house down the first time round. YIPPEEEEE!!!

and god bless registered Fraps!!!! I’ll keep these mathas with me forevah!!!

    • bri

you have to sign a 6month contract. I’m sure after that they will raise the price.

      • Hamze El Haj

Maybe they’ll add a “one month registration” option and raise the price for that, but i have hope that it will stay this way, though with all of these things offered, i don’t mind paying 15$ or 20$.

  • raVen

can’t wait for the rage when the ppv stream is terrible

  • joakim1380

Does this include live PPV or just replay the day after? Also is this available outside the US like in Norway for an example? :)

    • http://www.sescoops.com/author/adrianf/ Adrian Fylonenko

LIVE PPVs and replays. Yes, available in Norway if I remember hearing correctly.

  • Seth Guttenplan

Adrian? You gotta explain this new site! It seems too good to be true but as far as wrestling fans can see theres no reason NOT to get the network!

    • http://www.sescoops.com/author/adrianf/ Adrian Fylonenko

Yeah I just joined SEScoops literally yesterday, it definitely beats writing at BR!

  • Hershey Maxwell Barber

    Not editing out Beniot?

    • http://www.sescoops.com/ Mr 561

      • http://www.sescoops.com/author/adrianf/ Adrian Fylonenko

        Mike Jones.

    • http://www.sescoops.com/author/adrianf/ Adrian Fylonenko

Nope, they will just have an advisory message beforehand.

      • Hershey Maxwell Barber

        • http://www.sescoops.com/author/adrianf/ Adrian Fylonenko

It will say “the characters portrayed in this feature are fictionalized”, but that’s better than no Benoit. This generation needs to see how the man wrestled! Of course, what he did was a terrible thing, but he’s still one of the best to ever lace up a pair of boots.

          • Hershey Maxwell Barber

Glad they found some way that works for them. I could not handle having him edited out of this massive library.

  • MrSplakaveli

Oh yes, my son is finally about to get his full education on why his dad has been a life-long fan. $10 a month is defnintely worth it.

  • tony

since its a 6 month agreement, we have to pay $60 up front correct?

    • http://www.sescoops.com/author/adrianf/ Adrian Fylonenko

I’m not entirely sure. They never said those exact words.

    • WCWPunk

      Yes you do

  • Guest

Or continue to get it all for free

    • Seachai Chan

Why would they make it for free? $9.99 is already an excellent deal for us.

  • Jamie

I wouldn’t give any of my money to this PG garbage era

    • http://www.sescoops.com/author/adrianf/ Adrian Fylonenko

But if you do, you can watch non-PG era stuff.

    • Reality

      Read the article again.

  • WrestilingFan4Life

I’m definitely going to get the network, Just for Legends house, the ppv’s and ECW. Shame I have to wait like a year to get it -_-

    • http://www.sescoops.com/author/adrianf/ Adrian Fylonenko

Why a year? Where are you at?

      • WrestilingFan4Life

UK, They said in a Q&A they plan on releasing WWE Network to us late this year or early next year

      • WrestilingFan4Life

UK, They said in a Q&A it will be released for us in late 2014/early 2015

        • http://www.sescoops.com/author/adrianf/ Adrian Fylonenko

          That’s disappointing. Sorry to hear.

          • WrestilingFan4Life

Ahh its cool, bro, Think I can do with youtube till then :p

  • Jeremy-County Roberts

A few years ago I would of loved this, but now not so much. Even if it is for almost free. I remember the days when I could never miss a Raw or SD. Now today I could careless. Either I’m getting older and outgrowing wrestling or wrestling has just become boring.

    • Bullrogg

You’re here all the time for someone outgrowing wrestling. And put a shirt on lol

  • Rip Mae young

In other news while everyone is so excited about the wwe network the great Mae young has died rip Mae

    • Hamze El Haj

      They denied the news

  • oppa

This is cool. Instead of spending time watching the crappy episodes of Raw that air now, I can go back and watch the older episodes of Raw that were more entertaining.

  • Yofiel Malachi Yacov

    Don’t be a beta tester.

  • 9 year old boy

It’s not going to be in Canada till the end of 2014 FML -__-

    • Coltcabunny

Nor in the UK. Why do I have a terrible feeling the price will increase and a lot of other bonuses will have gone by the time we get it over here?

    • http://www.sescoops.com/author/adrianf/ Adrian Fylonenko

      Really? That’s very disappointing.

  • AVPredator4985

This could honestly help with the PPV streaming problem. I’m definitely going to look into this

  • eight_track

Is this USA only? Because that would be a bit of a shame

    • Hamze El Haj

It will start streaming in the US first

  • Matt Gallagher

The ppv and NXT is enough

  • thefan

how many fans are going to wwe live show after wwe network is launch and how is wwe create new fans

  • dae

12 PPVs for the price of about $120 (plus taxes where applied), that’s the ONLY reason I might consider it. I really don’t need all the other stuff – I mean, seriously, I’m already DVRing Raw and SmackDown because of all the extra advertising and recaps and commericals and it’s nicer to watch a three hour show in an hour and a half to two hours.

    • http://www.sescoops.com/author/adrianf/ Adrian Fylonenko

You aren’t interested in exclusive interviews like Shawn Michaels talking about his match with Undertaker at Mania 25 and a bunch of behind the scenes stuff? Also the series that they’ve announced all sound very interesting, at least to me.

  • Deleted_Account

They had me at all PPVs. Everything else is icing on that sweet cake.

    • Brian

Agree with you on that brother.

    • Enigmo

The old shows and PPVs in HD quality, which actually look more awesome than today’s HD stuff?…. I would say that deserves more credit than just being the icing on a cake

  • http://www.TheLarryWilson.com/ The Larry Wilson

I would imagine this is why WWE has randomly put most of their DVDs on sale at walmart too. I would Imagine they would start adding previous dvds too. I know this is much easier than going to Firstrow lol (Which I only do because I don’t have cable)

  • Chris

I might have missed it in the FAQ – does anyone know if the account can be shared across a household? (Yes, if it can attach to multiple devices, you functionally can – but Netflix actively acknowledges this as licit use. If I could split the price with a friend, I would definitely be in.)

  • G.I.R.L.

Wow… this is actually tempting. I need to watch all the eps from 98-2002.

  • Dixie Carter

Sorry but the TNA brand is way more popular. We have TNA on demand, on youtube. It is a lot more interesting + our PPVs are all free. Nice try to compete with TNA the home of the best wrestling moments in history, but you failed!

  • Bush Whacker

Will classic and attitude era footage still be shown with PG rules? By that I mean, will blood content by black and white? Are chair to head shots shown? Will all the good ol days of bloody violence be shown in its entirety? I’m not paying for censored footage.

    • Enigmo

Considering they’re on-demand videos and not live broadcasts, they are unlikely to be censored – it’ll probably have a warning saying it has mature content. Or who knows, maybe I’m just being too optimistic.

    • http://www.sescoops.com/author/adrianf/ Adrian Fylonenko

At the press conference, Stone Cold Steve Austin said that the Attitude Era will be uncut and uncensored. Oh Hell Yeah.

      • Bush Whacker

That is what I was waiting to hear. Imagine original ECW censored or the two thousand chair shots taken out of the 90’s footage.
You got my $10 a month, Vince.

I also hear Chris Benoit will be shown, not sure how I feel about that. Hard to get the ol suspension of disbelief going when all you see is a guy that choked a women and a kid to death.

    • xmj42069x

      it all uncut and uncencered

  • Taiana Aubrey

I’ll definitely be subscribing to WWE NETWORK. Relive the greatest era in wrestling history and watch some of my favorite divas / superstars back in the day when storylines were on point. I can’t wait.

  • number1bigdaddy

    i’m good

    • http://www.sescoops.com/author/adrianf/ Adrian Fylonenko

      Are you in Canada?

      • number1bigdaddy

        hell no!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

        • http://www.sescoops.com/author/adrianf/ Adrian Fylonenko

Hahaha sorry. It looks like you were taking tube shots of something and I did that when I was in Canada, that’s why I’m asking.

          • number1bigdaddy

            canada suck

  • Ninjastar

I got a stupid question, if i get this wwe 24/7 that means i gotta buy cable now also . since right now i dont have cable and havnt had it for years, so let me get it straight before i ask my mom for 10 bucks :P jk,

Cable + channels i dont want or watch , 60 bucks a month
    Internet = 60 bucks a month

lol people going crazy for this yet everyone was bashing it for so long. Im not complaining. Its definitely a good deal, but i personally don’t need all that.

    • WCWPunk

I’m with you on that one. Unless you got alot of time on your hands and sitting around and a wrestling die-hard, then the network is for you. I’m in Orlando so I’m in and out all the time. There’s just so much to do out here. I doubt I’m gonna sit and watch through all that. Let alone I don’t watch all their pay per views. Just too much for me.
