Word going around the WWE locker room is that the reason CM Punk lost the World Heavyweight Title last night is because of heat on him stemming from an incident on the recent European tour, according to Dave Meltzer’s Wrestling Observer Newsletter.
The story goes that there was in issue with how Punk was dressed, and The Undertaker tried to nicely tell Punk that he was the World Champion and was representing WWE overseas so he should dress better. Punk said something to the effect of “what about John Cena?”
This got back to WWE management and they took it as Punk thinking he was a bigger star than John Cena. Then the decision was made to take the belt off Punk at Hell in a Cell and put the match as the opener. There are a couple versions of the story going around, but which ever one is being told, the end result remains the same.
The problems with Punk has been the talk of the SmackDown locker room for the past two days. There are some who are wondering why Undertaker was given the title considering his limited schedule and health problems with the feeling that it was too soon to take the title off Punk. Word is that WWE is planning on going with a Batista vs. Undertaker feud for the World Heavyweight Title.
UPDATE: Jim Ross has commented on this situation in his latest JRsBarBQ.com blog, writing, ‘Crazy email….CM Punk lost the World’s Title because of a “dress code” violation. Please, stop the pain.’

Sound’s like Punk’s letting his crocodile mouth over load his humming bird ass… Granted WWE never has Punk in anything but his ring gear on TV but he’s NOT JOHN CENA!!!! I’m a Punk fan and I think what he did was wrong
I can understand that he shouldn’t be a smartass about it, but I can understand his point. Why is it okay for Cena (or any champ) to dress differently than anyone else? I think if they want one person to dress a certain way, then all should dress that way. Who cares who’s been there longer or who is a “so called” bigger star. All rules should apply to everyone, not just certain ones.
Who cares how someone is dressed. Lets run down a short list. Taker (ring gear), Cena(ring gear/street clothes), HHH (sometimes a suit, ring gear, jeans and shirt), HBK (jeans and shirt), Batista (suit) As I see it, the only person who always wears a suit cant even wrestle. They have no right to have PUNK DROP THE TITLE cause the way hes dressed. If thats the case, then VINNY MAC should be banned from WWE TELEVISION for dressin like a REJECT from MIAMI VICE.
Give me a break. This is lame! WWE is turning to s**t!
Punk can out wrestle Cena, really the only reason Cena does so well is because kids and some girls cant tell the diffrence between a good wrestler and a bad one.
Hey, Vince, ever heard of the amendment right Freedom of Expression? Jeez, its stupid s**t like that that makes it no wonder that MMA is the place to be these days. All the backstage BS that goes on (oh and the fact every week each year youre constantly getting the same crap, just by different guys (or not so much different guys at the moment with raws main-event scene). Anyhow, Ill digress.
Simply put, Vince needs to quite being a paranoid prick in his old age and let wrestlers be them fn selves again. I mean it did work for guys like Stone Cold, The Rock, Flair and Hogan among the more famous names out there.
i think what the issue here is are key here. A.) he got smart with the Undertaker (hes a legend and a guy you should not say smart stuff to, especially if he is the head of the Smackdown locker room), B.) I don’t think ‘Taker was talking about his ring attire, i think he was talking about his normal attire when he is out and about before a show, minus the workout attire. If you notice, when John Cena, or Morrison, Miz, HBK, HHH or any other wrestler is seen outside of the arena, they wear nice, casual clothes. I think they were politely telling Punk to do that mainly because it is more professional looking then camo jeans and a t-shirt. Say what you want about my comments but this is where I think the issue here is
What’s really screwed up is that it doesn’t seem like any of the veterans even tried to defend Punk I mean I respect the hell out of Taker and so should Punk but this is a time when the WWE should be creating and pushing new stars and Punk as champ was a great start. What a shame that this feud/title run had to end like this. And give me a break ‘Batista vs Undertaker’ AGAIN?!?!?! Booooooooring
What the hell… I hate CM Punk…but honestly guys …really?..what is this?
I don’t think this was an issue about his in ring gear must have been what he arrived in
I agree with Taker on dressing more decent and like a champion in the public since you’re a representation of the company but I also agree with CM Punk. What about Cena? All he wears is a t-shirt and jean shorts. Sure its his WWE Attire most of the time but still, is that Champion like? I don’t think Punk meant any disrespect to Cena or Taker by saying this but just trying to make a point. Cena doesn’t dress in slacks, suits or anything like that so why should Punk. Hell even Orton wears just an “Affliction” shirts and jeans so how badly was punk dressing?
He’s always had a bad attitude, even on the indy circuit, just a jerk in the locker room .. He definitely is a PUNK!! I ran CWM in Michigan and worked with him twice, he sucks!! On a final note there is more drama back stage then in the ring,, and thats the only real thing about pro wrestling, real crap behind the curtains,, go figure,, thats why im sooo sick of it now, and wont run any more shows in michigan!
C.M. Punks heel-swing is in full effect. Very good. I think it works for him, but let’s hope his in ring persona doesn’t go to his head TOO much.
I think CM Puck is a little kid that need to Grow up I don’t none the WWE Superstars ether than Puck talk Jeff Hardy Drug Change Arrest then Puck I think The Undertaker is the you should lesson to because taker has been and WWE the longest and is professial Code when Taker give stuff ideas to help you do it.
John Cena mood his way his way and now Punk has Learn to bad nice to others
i say if u r champion u can dress anyway u like. i mean the dude earn that right. he won mib 2-time in a row so, i say that he have that right to dress the way he want to. and the undertaker just need to mind his business and retire.
I don’t know which takes longer: Undertakers retirement or entrance. Undertaker thinks he is bigger than the business. No one is. Not even Vince. The smartest move would be to form a talent swap with TNA. TNA stars on Raw and Smackdown and v-v.
I agree w/ CrazeeJester18. I think stripping him of the belt was a bit harsh. Come on if it had been Cena it wouldnt have happened.
Obviously most here dont know the business, or have common sense, @leobuzzo666- Undertaker has been around the business for a very long time, he is a leader in the locker room and is there to give advice to the younger guys, and some young punk (no pun intended) comes along and disrespects you, he was simply making a suggestion, second, are you retarded? if so, my apologies I undertand, but a talent swap? lol, these are competing brands, thats the last thing they would do, its like saying Mcdonalds can start selling the whopper. @golden boy1 These are professionals, they need to act like it, it is customary to be nicely dressed backstage, you act like this is competition and he actually won MIB, its sports entertianment, he didnt earn it, it was supposed to happen according to the writers. Punk isnt anyone special, are you saying he is so good that he dont have to follow a custom that has been around since the sport began, hell even pro football players dress up in suits on gameday. Punk needed to be cut down a few pegs, and thats what they did, hopefullt he will learn, he sucked as champion anyways.
oh, and to all the CENA haters that say he cant wrestle, stop being jealous, I bet all of you were stone cold fans and Hulk Hogan is a wrestling icon, I respect all three of these men but all had one thing in common, they couldnt wrestle to save thier lives, but they had charisma that made up for thier lack of ability and everybody ate it up. He seems to do fine in the ring when I see him.
