Earlier this week, we picked up on the story that CM Punk was booked to lose his World Heavyweight title at Hell in a Cell just weeks after winning it due to a backstage altercation with the Undertaker. Undertaker reportedly confronted Punk on WWE’s recent European tour about dressing sloppy and not carrying himself like a World champion on the road. Punk was said to be confrontational towards then Undertaker, explaining not all champions (he mentioned John Cena by name) dress the part at all times.
There’s now a another story going around regarding CM Punk’s backstage demeanor. According to F4WOnline.com, Punk caught heat with WWE officials for openly expressing the belief that he felt it was too soon for him to drop the World Championship.
While most believe the original story (Punk having an “attitude” when Undertaker confronted him about not dressing like a champion), both stories generally point to the same thing: Punk’s perceived attitude problem was a factor in him being dropping the World Heavyweight title so soon.
Punk getting punished because of his perceived attitude has generated two different reactions from the locker room. Punk has a reputation as being “aloof” and rubbing many people the wrong way, so those people were naturally pleassed to see him get put in his place. There are also wrestlers that feel Punk’s actions weren’t bad enough to warrant taking the title off him, especially since the Undertaker’s is in rough physical shape and does not work most house shows.

Punk is a loser. Undertaker is right. You can’t look sloppy and carry a title. If he was trying to call out Cena for the way he dresses, than Punk need to have his push killed. Cena doesn’t dress like a slob. Cena way of dress is more the norm. At least Cena’s pants are around his waist not his arse.
What do y’all mean by “Just weeks after winning it” He’s been the champion since he beat Hardy at SummerSlam. I know that y’all are not counting the screw job with Taker because “storyline wise” Undertaker never won the title and in real life CM Punk still left the PPV the World Heavyweight Champion so I don’t understand where you guys are getting the “Just Weeks After He Won It” thing from.
Dopestar, show me one picture of CM Punk with his pants hanging below his waist because I’ve never seen him dress like that. Cena is the one that has several pics floating around of his pants hanging low enough to show his underwear.
To me CM Punk is just that, a Punk being a punk on air is one thing but off air and while on tour you need to show class. Undertaker has always been a pro and its not like he is a rookie try to give Punk advice
If any of this is true I hope it leads to Punks eventual release from WWE. Hes done well there, becoming a recognizable star. Let him take his attitude to TNA. Thats where Id like to see him wrestle anyway. He and Joe going at it…again! And youre though, if youre a champion you should be presentable, even it youre a presentable punk.
The age of Orton was the last title reign WWE did right.
This C.M. Punk thing, while understandable, shouldnt be taking place. Despite his attitude, Punk is phenomenal in the ring, and maybe if he pulls his cocky head out of his ass, we can see a successful champion.
I am not a fan of CM Punks but I do understand what he means. It seems the WWE today and in the past has catered to their top stars, like Hogan, Warrior, Austin, Rock, John Cena, Edge and Orton. This leaves little room for error on other stars part but if the main guy messes up, it can be overlooked.
OK, I think people are blowing this story way out of proportion, which is unfortunate because Punk is completely right regarding both issues. First, not every champion in WWE history has always dressed in a sophisticated manner (a few examples being Steve Austin, John Cena, Edge, Jeff Hardy). They all have their own individual style and should be able to express themselves without the fear of overly harsh ramifications such as being stripped of the title. That takes me to my second point emphasized by BigK1989 – Punks title reign did indeed end far too soon. I think you need to realize that Summerslam just occurred on August 23rd and Hell In A Cell took place on October 4th. Thats only a 6 week period, incredibly short considering all the hype generated around CM Punk and his Straight Edge beliefs on Smackdown! It just feels like the WWE couldve done so much more with his character as the World Heavyweight Champion, but I guess thats out of the question because his clothes werent presentable. Is it just me or does that sound utterly ridiculous?
I can see not being a jerk to Taker and listening to the vet, but this is wrestling, not a legal office. Punk has always worn jean and t’s outside the business, so why should he change that now. I don’t expect to see him in a suit and tie, he’s Punk.
I just hate to see WWE drop what he was doing. He has the most heat on Smackdown and I think they could have done so much more with him as champion. Like anyone wants to see another Taker/Batista feud. Punk is far better than Batista in the ring and on the mic.
I’m with you there youngblood, it’s a shame what this company has come to, releasing Kennedy was ridiculous and taking the title off Punk was also ridiculous.
Who the hell is Undertaker to criticise Punk’s choice of clothing? I can’t recall how many times I’ve seen Taker is leather jackets and jeans, is that how a champion should dress?
Well if you go by everything you read Undertaker is the one guy even HHH is afraid to cross, he’s the longest running vet in the company and is considered THE lockerroom leader. That being said I think it was all BS and Vince just didn’t want him as champ but couldn’t justify taking the belt off him cause not only was he drawing but cutting the best promos on SD and putting on some of the best matches. This was the excuse Vince needed, Punk having an attitude, Punk not dressing the part, Punk answering back Taker it gave Vince the perfect way to finally justify taking the belt away. Btw I don’t believe he got an attitude w the Undertaker cause just asking “What about other champs like Cena?” isn’t an attitude he’s just trying to understand the double standard.
Ps
Whenver Taker was champ he wore his biker jacket and rode his Harley w his bandana n sunglasses on, Austin one of my favs of all time jeans/shorts a t shirt n sometimes cap. John Cena baggy hood jean shorts n his basketball jeserys or his own wwe merchindise Punk outside the ring dresses better than all of them lol closest to Austin if I had to compare clothing so it’s all BS
I’m only going to say this once. Taker seems to believe that because of all his years, he’s entitled to do what he wants, when he wants and how he wants to. This man is not the prime example of how a “champion” should behave. His abilities as a ring prefomer aside, with the actions he’s made over the past few years, especially as a champion, give him no right to tell Punk what he can or cannot wear. I may not like Punk, but his character isn’t just a character, it is based on who he is, just as American Bad Ass was based on who Taker really is.
Youre missing the point,Taker gave him advice, and Punk rather than respect the veteran was confrontational. I honestly dont care so much about how sloppy he dresses and whatnot, what with having that moron Cena as a main-eventer and all,but you have to respect the veterans and the Undertaker is undeniably one of the greatest performers to ever step in the ring.
Yeah what punk did was bad. He should be disciplined. What I don’t imagine is WWE letting him win Undertaker in a Hell in a Cell match then changing their mind. Making CM Punk win would make Taker look like a wimp that punk is. Well the match went good anyways.
How is Taker out of shape. He looks PHENOMenal !!!!!!!!!! If anyone looks bad it’s Punk. He’s got no muscle. He looks like a child in his underwear pretending to be a wrestler out there. Lift a weight u little b*tch
WOW, Taker away The Title Because the Guy has an Opinion on how to make the Lame PG product better? as far as Punk getting Big redi275 ? Im sure you would love to see all the Stars @ WWE on the Juice wouldnt you? I think its very cool That WWE has put their time , money confidence into a guy like Punk, dont get me wrong, out of ALL the Guys on That Program today from the past The Undertaker is my Favorite but it is a fact that he is very Limited in what he can do at this point in time due to hip leg issues if the reports are true. hip replacement usually tends to slow a person down. What I am really wondering is WHAT ABOUT CENA……lol…….Dank you veddy much~AKG~
