– WWE and the USA Network issued a joint press release Monday announcing an extension of their cable television partnership that will keep WWE Raw on the network through 2014. “I couldn’t be happier about continuing one of the most successful collaborations in television history,” said NBC Universal Cable’s Bonnie Hammer. “Vince McMahon and his entire team are an invaluable part of the USA family.”
The press release also touted the success of the weekly guest host concept on RAW, noting that the roster of hosts, which includes “Shaquille O’Neal, Jeremy Piven, Ozzy Osbourne, Bob Barker, Snoop Dogg, Ben Roethlisberger and Rev. Al Sharpton,” has produced an across-the-board improvement in the show’s viewership. Since implementing the guest host strategy, the show has garnered “+11 % more total viewers, +16% more P12-17, +9% more P25-54, + 3% more P18-49 and +17% more households compared to the same time period last year.”

As a long time wrestling fan, I strongly dislike the weekly guest host idea. Raw needs a GM.
i like it, but they need to quit with the stupid cena/jerishow and same ol crud diff week thing
As an active event-attending wrestling fan for more than 25 years, I think the guest host idea is a good one. Its unique and and new to the industry (which doesn’t happen often). The only problem is the host selection. The need to stick with true fans like Shaq, Snoop & Ben – not Jeremy Piven or Rev Al. I don’t think its just me, but I can really tell when the host isn’t a true fan. The show sucks then, and their segments are hard to sit through.
i personally belive that it is ok but,if they give us the crapy matches like they have then there is no point.
I like the guest host idea. It’s something new for the wrestling industry, and allows fans of the WWE and fans of the hosts alike to enjoy the show. However, there are good hosts, then there are mediocre hosts. Shaq was an excellent host and an obvious true fan. The same goes for Snoop and even Ben Roethlisberger. Bob and Ozzy were good too, and so were Trish Stratus and Batista, and Jeremy Piven at least had something going for him with his bit against Randy Orton. The rest really weren’t that great or that interesting or even that well-known, and their presence didn’t contribute too much to the show. On top of that, they keep doing the exaaaact same thing every week with JeriShow and DX and Cena. It COULD be great, if they’d only just get it together.
they gotta stop using talent on a consistent pace to goof around with the host. Masters has so much potential that they are throwing to the dogs.
The Guest Host thing has to go, that’s for sure, but I’m marking out because my boy Ventura is hosting next week and that’s the show I get to see live. I’ve gone to a Raw house show before, but never to a live Raw event, and the fact that it’s a 3 hour show makes it better.
I’m a strong TNA fan and barely watch the wwe product anymore, but having Hot Rod on and now Jesse makes it worth watching. Sad part about just watching RAW is that the only parts I enjoyed, was the ones with Roddy…and Kofi fighting Orton, but that was it.
Hopefully Jesse will have some decent plugs for his new show, I’m really looking forward to it, I hope people watch that when it comes out and get their wheels turning about things.
To clear the record up, Raw guest hosts don’t make matches. Vince and his cronies do. It’s their fault that we get the same crap over and over again. Remember when John Cena wasn’t there because of surgery? Great times. He needs to go become an actor like his boyfriend The Jock and leave wrestling to the people who know how to do it properly.
welcome to the guest host era
