WWE NXT Details: Logo Unveiled, “Revolutionary” Concept

WWE NXT Details: Logo Unveiled, “Revolutionary” Concept

WWE's NXT Generation

WWE NXT: The Next Generation

As we saw on this week’s ECW show, WWE Chairman Vince McMahon announced the final ECW broadcast will take place on Tuesday, 2/23. McMahon thanking the superstars and crew who made ECW the success it once was and promised a “new, innovative, never before seen program broadcast” that will debut on February 23rd and take over the old ECW timeslot.

On Superstars, WWE confirmed reports that the new brand will be known as WWE NXT with a 10-second promotional spot hyping the new show. The show was called “Revolutionary” and we got a first look at the new NXT logo. It’s odd  that WWE unveiled the name of its new show during a 10-second commercial on their D-show Superstars when they should have teased another “big announcement” for next week’s ECW .. Very well ..

Innovative .. Revolutionary .. Never Seen Before ..

WWE is setting the bar high for this new show. Based on what we’ve heard, the show will be be a hybrid of pro wrestling and reality TV, similar to WWE’s Tough Enough and UFC’s Ultimate Fighter series. WWE NXT will feature almost exclusively young talent from WWE’s developmental system, with the possibility of veterans appearing on the show to teach the young guys. WWE really is hoping to introduce the next generation of Superstars to fans in a whole new way, allowing us to get to know the wrestlers in and out of the ring. Whether the wrestlers are competing for a title or a WWE contract remains to be seen, but at least they’re trying something new.

As for what happens to ECW .. Expect to see most of the talent wind up on Raw and SmackDown. The ECW title will likely be put to rest in the near future as well.

I thinks it’s about time that Tommy Dreamer and Paul E. buy the ECW rights and bring back which should never have been destroyed in the first place….

  2. adementedjim says:

…and what will become of the ORIGINAL NXT? Will Vince just ignore them or be honest, and attempt to buy the naming rights from them?

lol “never been done before” except WWE ran 3 seasons of Tough Enough. I liked season one of tough enough alot considering it went behind the curtain and broke kayfabe. But I’im sure since WWE is catering to an audience that can’t spell much of anything much less kayfabe, it’ll be mostly scripted

Well, NXT sounds a little better than I thought if they want to add a “Tough Enough” element to the program. Definitely more captivating than ECW. Vince won’t sell the ECW rights there Jim, he’s going to lock all ECW footage into a deep underground vault and throw away the key. That is, until Linda loses the GOP primary in CT and steps down from the state schoolboard and he decides to go back to TV-14 again.

who cares about the NXT Generation! They suck. And that is why guys on top wont pass the torch to them. Unless your one of HHH buddies

geeeeze.. all these tna/ecw fans like to bag the new initiative after critisizing wwe for being repeticious??
its a good concept, its better then what is currently existing.
although vince completelly killed ecw, ecw was never going to work with the (pg) rating, and with guys like edge, batista, undertaker, mysterio etc all falling to injuries vertually at the same time 8-12 months ago aswell as other wrestlers showing their wear, ecw was put away to rot , unfortunatelly. I think ecw would have rated a bit better if those guys never got injured & they gave guys like evan bourne, sheamus, drew macintyre, carlito, primo & festus/gallows oportunities by adding them to the ecw roster, cos any show that relies on guys like zac ryder, vladimir kozlov to gain ratings is not going to do well.
whatever is done nxt will be interesting to watch, afterall its got to be better than TNA’S main event this week with nash v foley (that was the worst match/mainevent i have ever seen) tna should be puplicly ridiculed for even airing that crap.

This might be interesting. Now I don’t have to watch the FCW guys on youtube!

  8. BayArea08 says:

Let’s not jump the gun just yet. WWE NXT might be awesome for all we know. It’s just speculation & rumors for now that it’s a Tough Enough program. I bet it’s something we only dream of. Can’t wait!
