As young superstars Kofi Kingston and Sheamus are getting big pushes on WWE’s Raw brand, one young star not getting the same treatment is Jack Swagger. WWE has virtually given up on pushing Swagger to the next level and are disappointed with how he’s progressed thus far, according to the Wrestling Observer Newsletter.
When he first showed up on the WWE scene a little over a year ago, “The All-American American” was pegged as a future main eventer due to his look, size, charisma and in-ring ability. Fellow Oklahoman Jim Ross was said to have high hopes for him and has written extensively about Swagger’s natural ability and potential in his blog.
Swagger is now considered to be a comedy character and is ranked slightly lower than Chavo Guerrero on the Raw pecking order (Ouch.) Some feel he’s in danger of becoming “this year’s Chris Masters” (Ouch again.)

Jack Swagger has the charisma of an ant. He just can’t seem to get over. Which is too bad, he’s talented in the ring and they’ve been giving him a shot.
Are you Kdding me!?!?!?!
The man has ALL the goods to make it in this business
- GREAT wrestling skills
- An acceptable and believable gimmick
- A sssssssssssssspecial trademark
- The Ssssssize
- He’s a young gun!
Please put the man on smackdown so that he can wrestle and main event.
Swagger had an excellent match against Cena on raw.
That should have been the match that made him.
I can’t stand that the wwe is always dropping the ball.
What’s your opinion guyz?
RAW is a curse. The writers simply don’t know what they’re doing with young talent. They always place the blame on the talent when it’s the writers who’s supposed to put the talent in positions to look good. Not every gimmick is going to get over, but if they push a guy on his gimmick and they feel that the gimmick is strong enough to get over because they obviously saw something in the gimmick or the crowd reacts to the gimmick, it’s the writer’s responsibility to continue the push to get the gimmick over. Obviously, the writers don’t do that; they say they allow the talent to get themselves over at a point, but we all know through recent history that if a talent goes into business for him/herself to get over, they get punished. It’s a lose/lose situation for guys who move over to RAW from “ECW”
of becoming? I think he already has become this year’s Chris Masters. which is a shame because I thought he could least do wonders as a U.S. or IC champ (even though those belts don’t even mean sh*t these days.)
So once again, Vince has backed out of building another new star that should’ve already been built up on the main event sence now days. Though i will say Kudo’s to them for finally putting guys like Koji Kingston and Shameus in more mainevent roles.
Sheamus really? You’re kidding right ? The guy had all of 3 matches on Raw and did what exactly? Took out Jamie Noble who hasn’t been relevant since WCW. I mean seriously, have you seen what’s happened to the last handful of guys they tried pushing as “Unstoppable Monsters” ? Umaga, Mike Knox, Gene Snitsky, the Great Kahli, ect, ect. The “monster” gimmick doesn’t work anymore the last person it worked for was for who exactly ? The way they are handdeling Kofi, Morrison, and The Miz is the way it should be done, the way they utilized Jeff before he left to shoot Punk to the moon that was great but Sheamus will be soon forgotten when his appearence in a title match doesn’t draw any bigger buyrates and he will be tossed aside for Vince’s next new monster of the month.
If they are just going to give up on Swagger. Then turn him face and give him the All American gimmick and start him out with Burchill. It couldnt hurt Swagger anymore than what is being done to him. If WWE wants to be more “kid friendly” then.. an All American gimmick would be something the kids could cheer for. Do the usual dress up in Red, White & Blue and give Swagger something to do. Don’t throw him into the pit like they did Noble, Yang, Snitsky, Masters and numerous others.
I think Sheamus has a slightly better chance than the other “monsters” because he actually gets on the mic and talks, unlike the others who remain(ed) mostly silent. It is a shame they are giving up on Swagger though. WWE always seems to push the big, powerful guys and over look the wrestlers who actually possess authentic athletic ability. Guys like Swagger, Yang, etc. could do much better in TNA i think
Swagger is good, former ECW champion. Has the potential to be the next Kurt Angle. However he lacks modesty and focus. In matches against Evan Bourne when he cocky he seems to act reckless and lose why he’s at RAW. Only in the return matches when he regains the momentum, can he be a better wrestler.
Swagger should be on Smackdown getting the push. Raw ruins pushes…thank God they got back on the ball with The Miz…
they shoud kick him back to ecw. wwe also has given up on ecw wich is not a strange think cause of the fact that ecw isn’t ecw anymore there’s nothing extreme left of ecw
