Paul Heyman Opens RAW, Brock Lesnar Attacks Mark Henry

RAW opens with CM Punk’s theme music immediately hitting. Nobody comes out for several seconds and then Paul Heyman waddles his way out to a round of boo’s. Heyman hits the ring and when the music stops an insanely loud “CM Punk, CM Punk” chant breaks out. Heyman says he deserves louder than that. They chant even louder.

Heyman sits down in the middle of the ring Indian style, ala Punk. Heyman says he came here tonight to tell the story of a Paul Heyman guy. A Paul Heyman guy who was never truly wanted in WWE. A Paul Heyman guy that “they” thought was too small to main event WrestleMania. The CM Punk chants start up again as Heyman continues to tell his story about Punk. Heyman says this is his pipe bomb about CM Punk, “who is not here this evening.” They loudly boo and chant CM Punk again. Heyman says he doesn’t disagree with the fans. Heyman says so what really happened, why isn’t CM Punk here and why won’t anyone talk about him anymore? He says there is someone to blame as to why Punk wouldn’t put up with things anymore. Heyman says tonight he will point the blame as to why Punk isn’t here anymore. He says he blames each and every single one of the fans for it. Heyman brags about Punk setting a record as champion when he was with him and then the fans took him away. He says the fans not only took CM Punk away from him, but he took him away from yourselves.

Heyman says he not only blames the fans, but he also blames The Undertaker. He says this entire downward spiral began when “we” couldn’t end the streak and beat The Undertaker. Heyman says he wants revenge. Heyman says he wants to see the streak taken away from The Undertaker and there’s only one man who can do it. That’s Brock Lesnar. This brings out Lesnar.

Lesnar comes to the ring and when his music stops, the very loud CM Punk chants break out once again. Heyman introduces a video recap of what happened with Lesnar and Undertaker last week on RAW. Lesnar has a little wrap around his hand where Undertaker stabbed him, by the way. When we return live from the video recap, an insanely loud CM Punk chant breaks out again. Lesnar takes the mic and the crowd boo’s.

Brock says unlike some people, he doesn’t make claims that he can’t back up. He says he thinks Undertaker attacked him last week because he’s scared of him. He says everyone has failed in attempting to conquer the streak. He lists some guys who tried and failed. He calls them all failures. He says at WrestleMania 30, the streak is going to get conquered by him. He throws the mic down.

Out of nowhere, Mark Henry’s music hits and out he comes. Lesnar attacks Henry. He slams him into the steps outside the ring. Lesnar goes over and clears off the announce table. Lesnar hoists Henry up and hits him with an F-5 through the table. The crowd barely reacts to that, and immediately start back up with loud CM Punk chants. Lesnar’s music hits and he and Heyman leave.

    WWE Tag-Team Championships
The New Age Outlaws (c) vs. The Usos

WWE Tag-Team Championship action is up next. On that note, we head to our first commercial break of the evening. When we return from commercial, a graphic airs explaining that this year’s WWE Hall Of Fame ceremony will air live on the WWE Network.

We shoot back live to the arena and Justin Roberts announces that this match is for the WWE Tag-Team Championships. “Oh, you didn’t know?!” Road Dogg and Billy Gunn, The New Age Outlaws, make their way to the ring in WrestleMania jerseys. Road Dogg gets in the ring and says he doesn’t think Chicago is worthy of hearing his catchphrases. The Usos theme music hits and out they come.

The bell rings and Jey Uso and The Road Dogg start things off. The CM Punk chants immediately start up as Uso goes to work on Road Dogg. Road Dogg reverses Uso and slams him upside down in the corner. Road Dogg tags in Gunn and Gunn picks up where he left off, hammering away at Jey in the center of the ring. Gunn blasts Uso a few times and then tags Road Dogg back in. Another loud CM Punk chant breaks out as Uso reverses Road Dogg in the corner and fires away with punches. Road Dogg catches Uso coming off the ropes with a big clothesline to slow his momentum down. Road Dogg throws Uso over the top as another loud CM Punk chant breaks out. We head to a mid-match commercial.

When we return from commercial, Road Dogg has Uso in a headlock and Uso is trying to fight his way out. Road Dogg immediately tags in Gunn and Gunn goes to work on Uso. Uso hits a big spin kick out of nowhere on Road Dogg and now both guys are down. The entire arena is clapping and encouraging Jey to make the tag. He does. Jimmy Uso takes the hot tag and is flooring Road Dogg and Gunn. Uso hits a big Samoan Drop on Gunn. Road Dogg tries interfering but Uso gets him down as well. Uso hits the ropes but Gunn catches him coming off with a big tilt-a-whirl slam.

Gunn goes for the FameAsser but Uso avoids it. He superkicks Road Dogg off the apron and makes the tag as he dives out onto him. The other Uso comes in and blasts Gunn. He follows up with a big top-rope splash. 1-2-3. The Usos win. We have new WWE Tag-Team Champions.

Winners and NEW WWE Tag-Team Champions: The Usos

Backstage: WWE Divas Drool Over Aaron Paul

After a preview for the Need For Speed movie, we shoot backstage and a bunch of the WWE Divas are talking about Aaron Paul. They make a lame sex joke and then we go to commercial.

    Big E. vs. Cesaro

When we return from commercial, WWE Intercontinental Champion Big E. is finishing up his entrance. The bell rings and we see Cesaro is his opponent. Immediately Cesaro does an impressive power spot, slamming Big E. down as the crowd pops. Big E. quickly turns the tide and spears him in the corner of the ring. Cesaro reverses the momentum and throws Big E. out to the floor. When he comes back in the ring, Cesaro immediately grabs Big E. by the legs and does his Cesaro Swing to the big man. He swings him about ten times or so. Out of nowhere, Jack Swagger comes in and hits a Swagger Bomb on Big E. The referee calls for the bell. Cesaro is disqualified.

    Winner via Disqualification: Big E.

    After The Match:

After the match, Cesaro looks pissed and is talking to Zeb Colter while Swagger paces out on the floor. Cesaro turns around right into a Big Ending from Big E. Colter looks confused as he stares at Cesaro down in the ring and Swagger shouting from the floor.

This Raw especially felt rushed the last hour because they were cramming so much into it. Rusev could have waited until later if time was an issue.

      • Noah

Do you really think Raw would be hijacked?.It wasn’t much of a hijack if they were chanting for only one thing.I got annoyed with the Punk chants and I put my tv on mute a few times.

      • http://www.rabidpictures.com yrabadi

Dude, it would never be a true hijack simply because people showed up. You want to truly hijack a show? You DON’T react. Simple as that. You react, good or bad, WWE gets what they want. Hijacking the show would be an empty arena – people leaving. And that simply isn’t going to happen.

Everyone is complaining about the product, but the fact is everyone is tuning in. Everyone is attending shows to voice their opinions. It’s all good in WWE’s eyes. They’re getting press. They’re getting over online with IWC. A reaction is a good thing – whether it’s good or bad.

I’ll give them credit for being a loud crowd. The HHH/Bryan segment seemed like a much bigger deal due to how loud the crowd was. An ‘asshole’ chant was welcomed. Chanting ‘CM Punk’ over HHH’s blaring music was welcomed. There were good things… But yeah, they were never truly capable of ‘hijacking’ the show… For that they would have to not show up.

Yep. Gotta give creative props tonight. They handled that crowd pretty well. Bringing Heyman out to start it and address the Punk situation head on was very smart… Pairing Bryan with Batista was very smart (fans can’t turn away from Batista because they’d be turning away from Bryan)… A tag team title change – who doesn’t love that? Smart. Trolling the crowd by ending the show with Bryan on his back = Smart. I give those assholes credit.

          • Bushwald Sexyface

Outside of acknowleding Punk, he did his same, tired usual bit that got old 5 years ago.

            • http://www.rabidpictures.com yrabadi

True, but that is who he is. He’s capable of a solid promo, and I’m sure the go home promo before WMXXX will be pretty solid. Plus, Bray shines here when exchanging words with Cena. It really puts over how awesome Bray’s character is. Not a bad thing.

        • http://www.rabidpictures.com yrabadi

It’s all debatable though, and it’s getting tiresome too. We can all speculate on what John Cena’s true… being… is. But the fact is none of us know because none of us are John Cena. Some will think he’s genuine. Some will think he’s kissing ass. Who the heck really knows? Why we still debate it day in and day out is beyond me, since there’s no real way to prove who is right.

Whether his reaction was legit or not, I think he handled the crowd well. I think fans can be a bit irrational when it comes to Cena. I guess it’s ‘cool’ to hate on the guy, but really, he’s out of the title picture, he’s working a feud with Bray, who everyone wants to see elevated, and win or lose – this feud will elevate Bray. You guys want him gone, I get that, but I do think the reaction to him is a bit irrational these days. Especially since it’s all based on speculation and what dirt sheets say.

My respect for Cena raises even higher, which is not something that I expected! It’s great that Cena nodded to a fallen villain.

Work or not, this has been compelling television. People watch Horror movies because they want to be scared. People watch romantic movies because they like a good cry. We watch wrestling because we’re gluttons for punishment and enjoy frustration. We’re tortured for 3+ hours a week, spend our week fretting over it, and we still find our way back.

          • Aperture

I watch wrestling for wrestling. I also watch it for entertainment purposes. I am not sure what you are trying to say, but I hate this crap WWE is trying to pull. I respect the history of the wrestlers in the company, but I cannot respect the company itself. People always say on here “Why don’t you stop watching it?” I continue to watch it for the wrestlers like Daniel Bryan, Ziggler, and Punk. Punk is gone now, but Bryan is still there. I watch wrestling for wrestling. I watch wrestling everyday of the week. I love it. I wish WWE could realize the passion that us fans have for wrestling, but they might not care anyways…

            • astronautbutter

My main point was that we watch despite the product rarely giving us what we want. I think we’re at a point where we have some of the best roster we could ask for but creative just doesn’t know how to deliver them to us.

But even more importantly, I think WWE is onto something, because we care more passionately now than in years. I know I do. John Cena and Randy Orton don’t get a reaction out of me, I turn off the TV or leave the room. When CM Punk leaves or Daniel Bryan gets screwed, I get absolutely livid. I’m invested and going crazy during their matches. Every bad booking or creative decision gets me that much more hyped to see the payoff.

I’m watching bad decisions week in and out for months on end just so I can have that catharsis when Daniel Bryan lifts the title above his head and the ground shakes with Yes chants. Makes us gluttons for punishment that we watch knowing we’re going to be outraged for the majority of the time.

            • astronautbutter

WWE once again out smarted the crowd. LOL the crowd thought they was going to hijack the show but they couldn’t.

      • astronautbutter

I think they were successful. They certainly drowned out any momentum for the majority of the screen time. Divas, Santino, Sheamus, Batista, Cena and even Daniel Bryan came off as insignificant because of CM Punk chants.

        • :)

This probably was” Successful” But what was it Purpose cause WWE isn’t going to change because of one crowd Bryan won’t main event mania this year ( I hope he does nxt year) , we will still have Orton and Batista ( which should had never happen cause hey are boring stiff people). Of course Divas, Santino ,sheamus, Cena and Batista are going to be insignificant cause they are insignificant any other Monday. If a city want to hijack a show “successfully” they probably shouldn’t advertised on twitter where WWE can basically see everything. Chicago really thought they could out smart WWE but WWE was clearly ready and prepare and out smarted Chicago without them even knowing.

          • http://www.rabidpictures.com yrabadi

A crowd is only so powerful. There’s not much they could do to ‘hijack’ a show. Fact is they were a loud crowd, and that in it self is better than most crowds. But there’s no way they were going to bring out real change… Sorry. The only way that would happen is if the arena was empty.

You show up. You pay. You react. They have you. They have your interest. Things can’t change unless you leave. Punk gets it.

            • astronautbutter

The crowd did a fine job of expressing displeasure. I just wish it wasn’t manifested in the words “CM Punk” but “Daniel Bryan” since it’s clear Punk is gone now.

What else are they going to do? Trash the ring and stampede the floor? That’s just not classy. The goal is to let WWE know we’re wanting something new and fresh and we can tell by the Cena promos about change that they understand we’re in the dawn of a new era. One of Daniel Bryan, The Shield, Dolph Ziggler, Bray Wyatt, and Cesaro. We’ve went from Ruthless Aggression to TV-PG and now we need to name this new era.

            • http://www.rabidpictures.com yrabadi

Naming the new era… Thank HHH for that. Sigh. Dude likes to bury you via promos too.

I agree with everything you’re saying. I’m sure some were still hopeful Punk would show up at the end for the save on Bryan, which may be why we were still getting chants. But it’s his hometown, I’m not surprised at all about chants for him interrupting everything. Bryan got his fair share of support in there.

I wouldn’t call that hijacking and they really did not do it for the majority of the t.v time. They really didn’t do anything better or different than other cities that usually chant during those matches.

    • Bushwald Sexyface

First of all, just because Punk didn’t return tonight doesn’t mean anything is or isnt a work. Personally, I thought he would but was wrong. So be it. I was still entertained by this show and know that the longer Punk is out, the bigger his return will be.

The crowd reminded me a lot of the Attitude Era crowds. They didn’t turn the chants into anything stupid and they cheered louder than most crowds do these days when they should have.

Anyone saying this Raw sucked is a complete and utter moron. It was one of the best paced shows I can remember up until the last match. Everything flowed together nicely. Besides the Christian/Sheamus match and the divas crap, there wasn’t anything overly boring. They advanced storylines properly. They did the best they could considering the unique sitauation with the crowd and they pulled it off well I believe. If ya seriously hated this show, stop watching wrestling. You’re not a real fan.

To be honest this was the moment punk could of come back if this was a work

      • astronautbutter

There were some great things tonight. The crowd was incredibly amusing. Some good matches. The only downside was the expectation of CM Punk and building an entire show that drowned out other performers only to not have that explosion at the end. Paul Heyman’s beginning was brilliant but it needed that payoff to truly be magic.

I still understand, however, that the more frustrated the audience and myself get, the sweeter the payoff will be. And it will only happen at a major event like the one just a month away.

      • Jeremy S

You people are complete idiots. It’s not a work….your idol WALKED AWAY from his job, the fans, everything. Why does the crowd chant for someone that cares so little about them that a month before his big hometown return he walks away knowing full well he wouldn’t be at this show I will never understand.

What you and the idiot crowds fail to realize is that the WWE is going to be hurt by the “hijacking” chants because it does nothing but distract from the rest of the show. They clearly set up the eventual 3way at WM30 with the main event and nobody is talking about that because all they want to talk about is the quitter that walked away from his job and his fans because he wasn’t the center of attention. Well guess what…..Bryan will close out WM30 with the title in the air and the crown chanting YES! Punk will be sitting at home crying about how that should have been his spot.

        • Bushwald Sexyface

Punk isn’t my idol, first of all. I couldn’t care less if he came back or not. Secondly, how anyone can definitively say it’s not a work is shallow-minded and naive. Since you seem to know everything, tell me why Austin didn’t have this much attention paid to him when he walked out? Do you remember WWE so clearly acknowledging the fact that he wasn’t there? Nope, because they didn’t. Just like they’ve never paid this much attention to anyone else that’s walked out/quit in such an immediate manner. You actually think that, just because he didn’t return tonight, it means it’s all so very real? Right, because there’s absolutely no way he could return between now and WM or at WM. Sure, why wouldn’t WWE use tonight’s crowd/reaction to put the story over even more. Gee, that would be just stupid of them, wouldn’t it?

The way you whine about Punk reminds me of the people that whined about Rock leaving for years. Would you like a new tampon so you can change your dirty one? So what if he did walk away? At least he walked away with his health. Heck of a lot smarter than most of the wrestlers in the past 20 years.

Instead of calling someone an idiot because you have a different opinion, take a look in the mirror first and ask yourself if you’re even worthy of bestowing judgement on anyone. It’s pretty clear that you’re not.

IF and thats a huge IF, Punk comes back before WM30 then I would bet anything in the world that it was not a work but Vince stepping in and paying Punk a bonus to show up or Punk deciding he wants that Wrestlemania bonus ala Warrior when he wasn’t going to perform. The fact they did everything they could to try and cater to the fans last night to avoid the “hijack” shows they don’t have Punk in hand.

As for my “whining”….you comment on everything that gets posted here. I rarely post….I guess that means you’re 10 times the whiner? Its a forum for expressing opinions and discussion.

Also if you don’t like being called an idiot then don’t act like one. The fact that over half the people on this site voted he was going to be a Raw tells me that over half this site doesn’t understand the difference between fact and fiction.

You are correct, anyone who leaves WWE is persona non grata. Even if they are under contract.

      • Orestis

Agreed. But I really wanted Barrett to come out and troll on Cm Punk! But yea, great show.I’m on Punk’s side btw! Also Cena looked kinda stupid imo, and once again said the same old stuff.I was about to turn Hulk listening to him.Overall damn good show! And the crowed didn’t just chant Cm Punk , idk what show people saw!

Holy crap man… You fans who keep thinking this is a work. Geez. It ain’t. It’s legit. The only reason they finally acknowledged him tonight was because it was a Chicago show. Go back to next week and it’ll be as if he never existed again. I know it’s wishful thinking, but it’s not a work. IF he comes back, they’ll make it seem like one to cover things, but this ain’t a work.

I agree. The pace that the show moved at was the best that I can remember in a long time. I think that showed that they knew they had to play to the crowd at least somewhat. WWE will bring back punk when they’re ready. He’s still under contract with them and not as in control of the situation as most people want to believe.

.. LOL so thisssss wass the infamous rebelleious chicago crowd ? !!! ..total letdown , except a few CM PUNK chants nothing major happened , i was expecting something else from them and no CM PUNK , i think hes done with WWE for now !! ..

      • Aperture

Don’t worry about the crowd. Let me know when you are ready to debate…

    • llllNinjastarllll

There goes ‘Buzzard Follower’ Hijacking the comments again after a raw . LOL!!

      • Buzzard Follower

        still better than Chicago’s “hijack”

    • Ayatollah of rock N rolla

Wasn’t Undertaker suppose to be on the show???

    • AVPredator4985

Who is this “Barack Lesnar” I keep hearing about?

      • Johnson

I’ve been asking myself that too.

    • Abz

My opinion RAW was quite good but I loved mostly cuz of the Chicago fans, but if I was them I would have took it to ECW level lol. Im happy Usos won the tag belts but I just felt Wrestlemania have been better plus the way the titles were from a squash match doesnt make it that special either. Best moment of the night shield vs wyatts and brock lesnar and paul heyman. Good to see ziggler finally pick up a win and the yes movement continue to stay strong. Michael Troll screwed up on commentary more than once, the real americans with their stupid interferences were none sensical aswell. WWE did screw up when batista confronted orton as they were about to go to commercial break. For some reason Stephanie has gone to Dixie Carter, shes really annoying on the mic lol. Mostly happy Paul Bearer is getting inducted into the hall of fame. Oh Crickey! In closing I would like to day Emma is hot. Lol.

    • Noah

Raw was ok.Wyatt Family/Shield was match of the night.I liked it.The Uso’s tag team champions don’t matter.Sheamus/Christian (Done too many times.) End that feud.Daniel/Batista not much of a match.Could of had a winner.Looks like Superman Cena isn’t Superman after all.Glad he actually showed he’s hurt.He doesn’t do that much or at all.Big congrats to Paul Bearer. And where the F was The Undertaker?.Looking at Rowan and Harper of the Wyatt’s one of them would make a great Michael Myers for a Halloween movie or a Jason Voorhees for a Friday The 13th movie. They have that look for it.

    • MOON CENA

      .. LMAO SO TRUE ..

    • TheFaceOfSeScoops

Good job there, Chicago crowd. You really showed us how to hijack a show. Just chant CM Punks name every 30 seconds and you’ve got yourself a little revolution for three hours. Hope it was everything you all thought it would be, and more. Im sure you all just loved the ending :)

    • Jack
    • Patrick W.

My biggest pop of the night was for Emma. Some other good stuff happened too. Lol… But I do like her though.

    • mrcool37

Anybody else notice the crowd when Brock Lesnar threw that second monitor? It looked like he may have taken somebody out on the opposite side of the ring.

    • Dave from Germany

They even ignored Wyatt’s promo?? Shame on you Chicago!

    • The Drewster

      PUNK SCREWED PUNK!!! Haha

    • satishwarne708

I’m disappointed not just because of all this hijack nonsense but the crowd.Their bland Punk chant made life easy for WWE and they trolled the sh*t out of the IWC tonight.Few positives, the dinosaurs lost the tag belts, good for Usos.Rollins turning on shield was good. And finally in JR voice”ZIggler WINS HE WINS KING HE WON OH GOD MIGHTY HE WINS KING”

    • Joe Sofroniou

I hope i’ll still be able to watch the Hall of Fame ceremony on Sky Sports.

    • Fantasma Del Guapo

Take away Wyatts vs Shield 2 and this RAW was terrible. I’m glad this whole Big Punk Walkout isn’t a work but this Wrestlemania’s gonna be just bad.

    • Shockmaster

I thought the show was ok, but the ending was terrible with the run-in on Bryan. I really thought Punk was going to come out through the crowd. Oh well. I guess we’ll have Bryan vs HHH at Wrestlemania somehow. And Lesner vs Undertaker is intriguing. I love the Shield vs Wyatt Family feud, but not so sure for Wyatt vs Cena. Cena’s promos about you can boo me or whatever but I am still standing are old and corny. We don’t care if you are still standing, you’re still boring to hardcore wrestling fans that aren’t kids or women. It does seem WWE loves to screw with the fans. I guess they think fans will watch no matter what, even if the WWE doesn’t give them what they want.

The best thing I have ever seen on raw..the sign that said
AJ is thirsty for a Dickens Cider.
that made the night really special for me.

Nobody better than Paul Heyman to start the show! He walked out to what could have been a pretty hostile crowd and handled it like a true professional. Nobody else in that locker room can play a crowd like he can.

Thank God that those reports were false regarding CM Flunk coming back to WWE. It’s funny that Daniel Bryan is now going to fight Triple H at WM, which was the match that CM Flunk was suppose to fight in.

      YES!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
