World Wrestling Entertainment announced on their official website that the 2005 Diva Search winner and Playboy cover girl, Ashley Massaro has been released from the company.

Earlier last week, Ashley Massaro claimed on her MySpace blog that she had requested for her WWE release due to her daughter's health.

Ashley had been linked with a high-priced Hollywood escort service earlier this year. The Rolling Stone magazine reported that she was an escort before her run in WWE. Ashley denied all accusations however Vanessa Grigoriadis, the person who wrote the Rolling Stone article confirmed that it was WWE’s Ashley Massaro who was involved with the escort service.

Many people are finding it strange that WWE would release someone due to their sick child as Ashley could have asked for a leave of absence instead of a release. Ashley had only made the odd one or two appearances since the Rolling Stone magazine revealed she previously worked as a high-paid escort. There is a good chance that Ashley’s release was not just due to her daughter’s health.
