Latest On John Cena/Daniel Bryan’s Crown Jewel Status

4

WWE’s controversial Crown Jewel event in Saudi Arabia is now less than a week away. We reported previously that John Cena may not be appearing at the event and we may well have an update.

Nothing has changed regarding Cena’s status for Crown Jewel according to Wrestling Observer Radio’s Dave Meltzer. Meltzer stated that WWE may confirm Cena’s status on tonight’s RAW show. WOR are claiming that WWE creative and staff elsewhere in the company are not even aware of what is happening with Cena in regards to Crown Jewel, but that we should have an answer after tonight’s RAW. Cena was scheduled to take part in the ‘World Cup’ tournament on the Crown Jewel card.

A potential rumored replacement for Cena’s World Cup spot is Bobby Lashley. Lashley is currently dealing with a shoulder injury that he is working through as long as possible.

Meltzer also commented on the rumors of Daniel Bryan not appearing at Crown Jewel. According to WOR no announcement will be made by WWE about Bryan not appearing at the event. It is likely that an angle will be shown on the day of the event or at this week’s Smackdown taping to explain Bryan’s absence. Bryan’s status for the show is very much “up in the air” but will not be addressed until closer to the event either way.

PAC/Neville Announced for Top UK Promotion

1

Revolution Pro (Rev Pro) has announced that PAC will be returning to the promotion. The former WWE Cruiserweight Champion will be appearing at the Portsmouth Guildhall on November 22nd. Tickets for the show are available to purchase via Rev Pro’s official website here.

The company has not yet announced PAC’s opponent for the show. The Portsmouth shows for Rev Pro are big events but not on the level of their York Hall extravaganzas. It is likely that PAC will be in a top feature match but not on the level that you would expect at a venue like York Hall. With Rev Pro’s New Japan links it would be ideal for PAC to take on one of the top NJPW stars but it is more likely that he faces a Rev Pro ‘homegrown’ talent such as El Phantasmo or Josh Bodom.

In other PAC/Neville related news Japan’s Dragon Gate promotion recently confirmed their new streaming service which featured PAC in a short promo package hyping the new over the top service alongside his RED stablemates. Fans will be able watch live/past shows for just over $13 a month. PAC made his return to the company earlier this year after leaving WWE’s 205 Live brand.

Ireland’s Over The Top Wrestling (OTT) promotion has also announced a huge return for PAC. The company has not confirmed what date the high flying superstar will return but have confirmed that it will NOT be in November.

Potential Change Could Be Made To Top WWE Crown Jewel Match

1

WWE officials could make a change to one top match at the Crown Jewel pay-per-view event. With Roman Reigns relinquishing the Universal Title due to his battle with leukemia, he will not able to face Brock Lesnar and Braun Strowman in a triple threat match at this show as originally advertised. Thus, Strowman and Lesnar will battle for the vacant title at this show.

According to a report by Pwinsider.com, there was a pitch made last week to add Drew McIntyre to the match, which would make it a triple threat. WWE has yet to make this change official but it could come as soon as Monday’s episode of RAW.

WWE presents the Crown Jewel pay-per-view event on November 2nd, 2018 in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia at the King Saud University Stadium and will air on the WWE Network. WWE will be announcing more matches for this show in the coming days. Here is the updated card:

Updated WWE Crown Jewel Card

Brock Lesnar vs. Braun Strowman – Vacant WWE Universal Title Match

WWE Champion AJ Styles  vs. Daniel Bryan

Triple H & Shawn Michaels vs. Kane & The Undertaker

World Cup Tournament: John Cena, Kurt Angle, Seth Rollins & Dolph Ziggler will represent RAW while Rey Mysterio, The Miz, Randy Orton & Jeff Hardy will represent SmackDown

Revolution Pro (Rev Pro) debuted on FreeSportsUK just over a week ago on Friday 19th. The UK based company will be using the nationwide channel as the home for their new TV show going forward. FreeSportsUK made the announcement back in August via Twitter where the channel announced that the show initially would be airing “later in September.”

Here’s the results of Episode 2:

  • Colt Cabana b. Greg Burridge
  • Roppongi 3k (SHO and YOH) b. HxC (Dan Head and James Castle)
  • Chris Brookes b. El Phantasmo – Brookes took the win after a distraction by his CCK stablemate Jonathan Gresham

You may remember FreeSports as the channel that hosted the ill-fated 5 Star Wrestling earlier this year. Rev Pro is an extremely well established promotion comparatively and will relish the opportunity to be available in UK homes.

You can check out the exclusive interview we conducted with Rev Pro owner Andy Quildan here. When we discussed the timing of the new show Andy confirmed that “WoS had no impact on our decision. In all honesty whilst I watch as much product as possible from WWE, ROH, NJPW, CMLL to all the indies here in the UK, aside from learning best (or at times worst) practice I try not to let what others are doing dictate the way I choose to run my business.”

Will Ospreay Acquires UK Promotion

0

UK and New Japan based star Will Ospreay has bolstered his Frontline Wrestling promotion. The ‘Aerial Assassin’ confirmed via Twitter that he would be taking over the running of the RCWA promotion. RCWA is based in his hometown of Rainham, Essex.

Ospreay confirmed that RCWA will be re-branded as Frontline. Ospreay stated that starting in 2019, Frontline Wrestling will open up ‘Frontline: NEXGEN’ to open more opportunities for the Young Lions, J-1 League & Wrestlers that we’d like to give a run on our shows.”

Will Ospreay has been sidelined with an injury and has been pulled from several events recently. The former IWGP Junior Heavyweight Champion was expected to take on Taichi for the NEVER Openweight Championship in November but this has since been scrapped. Taichi will be defending his title against Hirooki Goto. Ospreay has confirmed that the Frontline promotion will also be hosting shows across the UK, their initial 2 events were held in London.

Details On Vince McMahon Running WWE Evolution From Gorilla Position

3

WWE has received high praise from fans about their latest pay-per-view event, Evolution, that went down on Sunday night (October 28, 2018) in Long Island, New York at the Nassau Veterans Memorial Coliseum on the WWE Network.

The positive reaction to the show is due to the in-ring action, finishes and production values. It felt like a different show that some could say that hasn’t been done since ECW One Night Stand in 2005.

There are even some fans who thought it had an NXT TakeOver-like vibe. However, it doesn’t mean that WWE Chairman Vince McMahon wasn’t in charge. In fact, Pro Wrestling Sheet is reporting that McMahon was still in charge from the gorilla position despite people thinking that Triple H was running the show.

According to the report, McMahon was backstage in order to give notes and make changes with Triple H, Stephanie McMahon, Michael Hayes, Road Dogg, and other producers. It was also noted that Stephanie was said to be beaming with pride backstage throughout the show.

Earlier in the day, it was reported by PWinsider that Vickie Guerrero, Eve Torres, Christian, and Finn Balor were backstage on the show. With WWE officials being high on the idea of making historic moments with women’s wrestling, it will be interesting to see when the next all-women’s show will be held.

Title Match Announced For NJPW Power Struggle Event

1

A new title match has been announced for the NJPW Power Struggle event, which is their next big show. New Japan Pro Wrestling officials confirmed that Taichi will now defend the NEVER Openweight Championship against Hirooki Goto. Originally, Taichi was supposed to wrestle Will Ospreay, but Ospreay had to pull out due to injury.

Last week, it was revealed by the promotion that Ospreay wouldn’t be able to wrestle at the show after suffering a rib injury at Revolution Pro Wrestling’s Global Wars UK event on October 14. The young rising wrestling star suffered the injury when he landed badly during his match against Chris Ridgeway.

This match joins a stacked card as several big matches have already been announced. Those matches include Chris Jericho defending the IWGP Intercontinental Championship against EVIL, the Super Jr. Tag League finals, and Tetsuya Naito vs. Zack Sabre, Jr.

Power Struggle takes place on November 3rd and will air live on New Japan World. Here is the updated card:

– Rev Pro British Heavyweight Champion Tomohiro Ishii vs. Minoru Suzuki

– NEVER Openweight Champion Taichi vs. Hirooki Goto

– Intercontinental Champion Chris Jericho vs. EVIL

– Super Junior Tag League Finals

– Kazuchika Okada & Beretta vs. Jay White & Bad Luck Fale

– Hiroshi Tanahashi & David Finlay vs. The Golden Lovers

WWE Announces Changes To NXT TakeOver & Wrestlemania AXXESS

0

WrestleMania 35 is scheduled to take place on Sunday, April 7, 2019 in East Rutherford, NJ at MetLife Stadium. This event airs on pay-per-view (PPV) and WWE Network. It’s the most successful and longest-running professional wrestling event in history.

On Monday morning, the WWE announced travel packages for the weekend and in the details, there were some changes that surfaced regarding NXT TakeOver and Wrestlemania AXXESS.

First up is NXT TakeOver as WWE has officially changed the name from ‘NXT Takeover: Brooklyn’ to ‘NXT Takeover: New York.’ The ‘Brooklyn’ series has been the name for the past 4 years at the Barclays Center during SummerSlam weekend. This show goes down on April 6th in New York City, NY and is considered the biggest special for the yellow brand of the year.

Regarding Wrestlemania AXXESS, WWE has changed up the schedule as in the past it would run from Thursday until Sunday morning on Wrestlemania weekend. Starting in 2019, it will now be running from Friday, April 5th, 2019 to Monday, April 8th, 2019, which means that there will be AXXESS sessions on Monday after WrestleMania. WWE never did this in the past.

Travel packages go on sale next Monday while tickets to WrestleMania go on sale on Friday, November 16th.

Ronda Rousey Offers Kind Words To Roman Reigns After Winning At WWE Evolution

0

Ronda Rousey successfully retained the WWE RAW Women’s Title once she beat Nikki Bella at Sunday’s (October 28, 2018) WWE Evolution pay-per-view event in Long Island, New York at the Nassau Veterans Memorial Coliseum on the WWE Network. This served as the headliner of the first-ever WWE all-women’s event.

After the match, Rousey had a nice message to Roman Reigns. She said, “Keep fighting, Roman. All the women are behind you. You’ve got this. Beat leukemia again. We love you.”

Reigns revealed on last week’s episode of Monday Night RAW in Providence, RI at the Dunkin Donuts Center that he’s been living with leukemia for 11 years, and unfortunately it’s back. Due to this, he is forced to relinquish the WWE Universal Title as he said that needs to focus on his family and his health.

Since then, several WWE stars have reacted to the news as well as showed their support of the former WWE Universal Champion.

He was originally supposed to make his next title defense against Braun Strowman and Brock Lesnar at the upcoming Crown Jewel pay-per-view event on November 2nd, 2018 in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia at the King Saud University Stadium and will air on the WWE Network.

Obviously, that won’t happen as it will now be Lesnar vs. Strowman battling it out for the vacant title at this show. Reigns is already advertised for an appearance in 2019, which you can see here.

Jeff Jarrett Bald After Losing Hair Vs Hair Match In Mexico

8

Jeff Jarrett is now bald. The former AAA Mega Champion dropped a Hair vs Hair match to Rey Wagner at Heroes Immortales XII last night. The event was held in the Gimnasio Miguel Hidalgo in Puebla, Puebla, Mexico.

https://twitter.com/ZonaRudaTDN/status/1056750822510485504

Blue Demon Jr. was in Rey Wagner’s corner for the match. Demon also said he wants to challenge for the NWA World Heavyweight Championship in Mexico recently. He made the comments at the NWA 70th Anniversary show held on October 21st, 2018.

In response to the match result, Jarrett simply Tweeted out a quote. “You have to take risks. We will only understand the miracle of life fully when we allow the unexpected to happen.” ~ Paulo Coelho

Jeff Jarrett Loses Hair In Mexico

Jarrett returned to AAA Lucha Libre earlier this year. He is now a 2x AAA Mega Champion. Additionally, Jarrett won the Rey De Reyes tournament for the promotion in 2014. Jarrett is still continuing with his Global Force Wrestling promotion. The GFW co-promoted the NWA Anniversary show recently and has also filed a lawsuit against Impact Wrestling regarding their intellectual property.

Additionally, Jarrett was inducted into the WWE Hall of Fame this year. He had previously not been associated with the promotion since leaving in 2000.

Becky Lynch Takes Shot At Ronda Rousey’s Evolution Performance

7

Becky Lynch retained the Smackdown Women’s Championship last night at Evolution. She defeated Charlotte Flair in a Last Woman Standing match. Ronda Rousey’s victory over Nikki Bella for the Raw Women’s Championship closed the show, however. This morning, Lynch took a shot at Ronda “following” her performance later on Twitter.

https://twitter.com/BeckyLynchWWE/status/1056890653374853120

Becky Lynch vs Ronda Rousey?

If Survivor Series this year follows the same pattern as in previous years, the Raw Women’s Champion would face the Smackdown Women’s Champion on the show. There has been some speculation that this is not what will happen this year, however, at least for the women’s champions, anyway. If this is the case though, it means Becky Lynch would face Ronda Rousey at Survivor Series. Last year, Charlotte Flair defeated Alexa Bliss in the Raw vs Smackdown Women’s Champion vs Champion match.

Lynch told media this summer that she feels her armbar is actually better than Ronda’s.

“Here’s why. Her’s is of course — have you been in a straight armbar before? Very painful. Very painful, it will snap your arm,” Lynch said to In This Corner. “But from my location, I can snap your arm, and choke you out with my leg at the same time. It’s a double whammy.”

Stephanie McMahon: Moving Forward With Crown Jewel An “Incredibly Tough Decision”

3

WWE released a statement last week announcing that the upcoming Crown Jewel PPV will be held in Saudi Arabia as originally planned, dividing fans’ opinion all over the world.

As we noted before, Vince McMahon decided not to comment on the matter and he said that all their thoughts are included in the released statement. However now Stephanie McMahon has talked about the decision in a little more detail.

Stephanie was recently interviewed by Sky News, and while talking about the upcoming show, the Raw Commissioner called it an incredibly tough but business decision:

“Moving forward with Crown Jewel in Saudi Arabia was an incredibly tough decision, given that heinous act, But, at the end of the day, it is a business decision and, like a lot of other American companies, we decided that we’re going to move forward with the event and deliver Crown Jewel for all of our fans in Saudi Arabia and around the world.”

Though this doesn’t mean fans will stay quiet on the matter and as we noted before, the Crown Jewel promo during the Evolution PPV last night was met with boos from the people in attendance.

Now it would be interesting to see how much the event is mentioned on WWE Programming in the upcoming times and how the company deals with the negative crowd reaction.

Jim Ross On If Shawn Michaels’ Return Would Be A One Off Thing

1

Shawn Michaels’ return is one of the most discussed topics related to the Crown Jewel PPV, and there are lots of rumors about him wrestling more matches in the future after the upcoming show.

During the latest episode of his Jim Ross Report podcast, WWE Legend Jim Ross talked about many things including his payday during the last Saudi Arabian trip and more.

While discussing Michaels’ in-ring return, Ross said that he thinks Shawn has got plenty of matches left in him, that is if he is booked wisely.

Continuing on the topic, Jim said that this will happen if the former World Champion can go out there and maintain the level of performance he is comfortable with, while also claiming that he won’t be comfortable with mediocrity.

Finally, JR claimed that Shawn has got a lot left in the tank if the vehicle is driven correctly, explaining that he could see him having a significant WrestleMania moment if he is booked smartly and strategically.

Jim Ross also talked about the argument about the upcoming Crown Jewel PPV saying that he has heard both sides of the argument and there is no right answer to it.

What do you think about Shawn Michaels’ return to the ring and possible future matches? Let us know your thoughts in the comment section below.

Stephanie McMahon Says Women’s Tag Titles Are Coming ‘Sooner Than We Think’

2

The Women’s Tag Team Titles have been in talk recently and WWE itself is partially responsible for keeping this discussion alive with various hints.

Another one of these hints came from the Raw Commissioner Stephanie McMahon recently when Sky Sports asked her about the titles. Replying to it, the WWE Official said that the women’s tag titles are coming ‘sooner than we think’.

The site then spoke to a number of female stars about the possible introduction of the new belts including the likes of Bayley, Sasha Banks and more.

When asked about it, Banks said that she has heard rumors about it. She claimed that it’s really awesome for the Raw Commissioner to say that because it is a dream come true.

Continuing on the topic, she talked about possibly winning the titles with Bayley saying that it’s an honor to work with her best friend and she is happy to have a match with her at Evolution.

On the other hand, Bayley admitted that she never thought herself as a tag team champion but said that it will be very cool to be the first ever WWE Women’s Tag Team Champions.

There is still no solid word on when we might actually see the debut of these titles. Though as we noted before, WWE Officials were handing out signs regarding it during recent shows.

Now after Stephanie McMahon’s comment, it appears that the announcement regarding the new championships will be made sooner rather than later.

Was Evolution Really Sold Out?, Nikki Bella Hints At Taking Another Break From Wrestling

2

Was Evolution Really Sold Out?

Both Michael Cole and Renee Young mentioned during the Evolution PPV that the event was sold out but unlike other events, the commentary team didn’t mention the number of attendance.

Later fans in attendance posted some photos of the event from their Twitter accounts which reveal that the show wasn’t actually sold out as claimed.

The photos as seen below reveal that there were many empty seats in the arena and from the looks of it, it appears that the company was only able to sell out about 70% tickets for the show:

Nikki Bella Hints At Taking Another Break From Wrestling

Nikki Bella challenged Raw Women’s Champion Ronda Rousey for her title in the main event of Evolution PPV but the former Diva’s Champion was unsuccessful in her quest.

Bella was interviewed backstage after her loss and talking about her match with the former UFC Star, Nikki said that the PPV proved that the Diva’s Era is officially over.

However continuing on the topic, Nikki Bella claimed that she is not done with Ronda and hinted at possibly taking another break, saying “When I come back here, I’m going to be a brand new woman”:

Fans Boo Crown Jewel Promo During Evolution (Video)

5

WWE made the surprising decision to promote the Crown Jewel PPV during last night’s Evolution event and as you can expect, the idea didn’t go over with the fans in attendance.

WWE debuted a new video package promoting the upcoming Crown Jewel event set to be held in Saudi Arabia later this week during the All Women’s PPV.

However, as soon as the Crown Jewel logo appeared on the jumbotron, the crowd started booing. Below you can see a video of people booing as Michael Cole promotes the upcoming show:

https://twitter.com/GIFSkull/status/1056729197391962112

Though the Officials were quick to respond to the situation. According to fans in attendance, the company took the graphics of the upcoming show off from the jumbotron within seconds.

This incident proves that the fans who are unhappy with the company moving forward with the event are going to raise their voice against it.

Now it’d be interesting to see how WWE handles the situation at the upcoming shows and whether or not they promote the event during the go home episodes of Raw and SmackDown this week.

WWE Crown Jewel takes place from Riyadh Saudi Arabia on Friday, November 2nd. You can check out an updated card for the event here.

Rousey has put distance between herself and MMA as now she’s in the WWE and is learning to make the transition from the Octagon to the ring after being out of the fight game for two years after suffering devastating losses in her last two bouts under the UFC banner.

Rousey made her professional wrestling in-ring debut when teaming up with Kurt Angle to defeat Triple H and Stephanie McMahon in a mixed tag team match at WrestleMania 34 in April after signed made her promotional debut at the Royal Rumble event.

It’s possible that WWE will book a rematch between these two stars at the next PPV show or the company has different plans for the two stars. The Survivor Series pay-per-view event takes place on Sunday, November 18, 2018 in Los Angeles, California at the Staples Center and will air on the WWE Network and some traditional pay-per-view outlets.
