Vince McMahon Absent From WWE TV Events, Interesting Alundra Blayze Stat

3

Vince McMahon Absent From WWE TV Events

WWE Chairman Vince McMahon was not at the Monday Night RAW TV event in Providence, RI at the Dunkin Donuts Center or SmackDown Live TV event in Newark, NJ at the Prudential Center this week, according to PWinsider.com.

It’s been recently reported that McMahon is backstage for most weeks at RAW TV events but not at SmackDown shows. It should be noted that he’s still in charge of creative of the blue brand but delegates his vision for the show to other people at the events.

He was last seen on WWE television at SmackDown 1000 last week where he appeared in a segment with Stephanie and Shane McMahon as well as Carmella and R-Truth.

Interesting Alundra Blayze Stat

WWE Hall of Famer Alundra Blayze is slated to make her return to in-ring action at the Evolution pay-per-view event that takes place on Sunday, October 28, 2018 in Long Island, New York at the Nassau Veterans Memorial Coliseum on the WWE Network where she’ll compete in a battle royal with the winner getting a championship opportunity.

An interesting stat has surfaced online regarding the WWE Hall of Famer as this match will mark her first contest since wrestling at WCW Fall Brawl ’00 where she teamed with Billie Kidman to lose to Shane Douglas and Torrie Wilson.

NXT, 205 Live, & Mae Young Classic Preview 10/24

0

WWE presents 3-hours of previously unaired programming tonight. NXT, 205 Live, and the latest episode of the Mae Young Classic will air on the WWE Network.

NXT 10/24 Preview

Aleister Black Is Back, Now What?

The former NXT champion returned during the main event between Nikki Cross and Bianca Belair last week. Black demanded that Nikki tell him who it is that attacked him and put him out of action. He then seethed with rage after she whispered who it was into his ear. Now that Black knows who his attacker was he will be on a quest for revenge. We could even find out who the attacker was tonight as well.

NXT Championship Announcement For War Games

William Regal has said that he will announce Tommaso Ciampa’s challenger for the NXT Championship at WarGames tonight. The Takeover event takes place November 17th from the Staples Center in LA.

Mia Yim vs Aliyah

Mia Yim’s WWE signing was delayed a year after a leg injury following the 2017 MYC so she’ll be looking to make up for lost time. She’ll face Aliyah in her first match on NXT programming tonight.

Aliyah’s all-time record in single’s matches on NXT programming leaves a lot to be desired. Her 1-13 record’s only bright spot was a win over Billie Kay in 2016.

What’s Next For the Undisputed Era?

The Undisputed Era saved their tag team championships last week when a returning Bobby Fish caused the disqualification in a match against the War Raiders. With a little over three weeks to go before WarGames, one has to wonder if William Regal will put the team back inside the 2-ring steel cage again this year.

205 Live Preview 10/24

Mike and Maria Kanellis Bring True Love To 205 Live

Mike and Maria Kanellis made an impactful 205 Live debut recently, interfering in match between Lio Rush and Lince Dorado two weeks ago. Tonight, Mike Kanellis will make his in-ring debut against Dorado.

Hideo Itami vs Mustafa Ali

This rivalry continues tonight as Mustafa Ali looks to take out the man responsible for putting him on the sidelines for part of the summer. As for Itami, as always, he’s just looking to make sure people respect him.

These two have met twice this year. Itami won the first meeting and the second ended in a double count-out. They also met on NXT in 2016 once. Itami won that match too.

Here is Mustafa Ali cutting an intense promo in the rain in regards to this match:

Mae Young Classic 10/24 Preview

It’s semi-final night at the Mae Young Classic. After tonight’s episode airs, the Mae Young Classic final will be official for Sunday’s Evolution. In opposite fashion to the WWE World Cup, no Americans are left in the tournament.

Io Shira vs Rhea Ripley

Rhea Ripley is fast becoming one of the most talked about heels in WWE. After Tegan Nox suffered multiple leg injuries in their quarter-final bout, Ripley did not let up and continued to lay waste to her opponent. She later ripped into her through social media as well.

On the other side of the ring will be Io Shirai, one of the hottest prospects WWE has after signing her away from Stardom. Only one of these women will make it to Evolution.

Toni Storm vs Meiko Satomura

Satomura is a grizzled veteran who wrestled on Nitro as a teenager while Toni Storm is a young 23-year-old prospect from the Gold Coast. Storm has signed and will be a part of the NXT UK division but first, she’s looking to book her ticket to Evolution on Sunday.

Scott Dawson Asks Fans To Not “Give Up” On The Revival

8

Sadly, it’s almost hard to believe that The Revival (comprised of Scott Dawson and Dash Wilder) were tearing up the Raw tag team division at one point, with the team primed for title contention after consecutive wins against Roman Reigns and Bobby Lashley. They were also NXT’s first ever two-time tag team champions, back when they were owning the division on the yellow and black brand.

Since then, however, The Revival appear to have all but disappeared from WWE programming.

This isn’t lost on the duo, with Scott Dawson taking to Twitter in order to ask fans not to “give up on us [The Revival] yet.”

The reason for this is because of a matchup that takes place on this week’s WWE Main Event. The Revival take on the relatively fresh team of Chad Gable and Bobby Roode in a confrontation that Dawson promises is a “great match that exemplifies what tag team wrestling is all about.”

Here is what Scott Dawson said, in full:

“This week on Main Event, it’s Bobby Roode & Chad Gable vs Dash & myself. (As long as it’s not heavily edited) It’s a great match that exemplifies what tag team wrestling is all about. Don’t give up on us yet. There’s a reason we’re called ‘The Revival’.”

https://twitter.com/ScottDawsonWWE/status/1054811836078608391

It’s a shame for a team as talented as The Revival to have been missing from WWE’s main product for so long. Hopefully, they’ll be able to showcase their skills and get their opportunity on Raw soon, working their way back into the tag team championship scene in the process.

What do you think? Do you feel The Revival are being underutilized, if not wasted completely? Who would you have them feud with to get them back into title contention?

More Information About Dean Ambrose Turning On Seth Rollins

10

The ending of Monday Night Raw left fans in a state of shock for many different reasons.

With Dean Ambrose turning on his Shield brother, Seth Rollins, after winning the tag team titles from Drew McIntyre and Dolph Ziggler, the attack left viewers emotionally conflicted.

This is because the man that completes their trio, Roman Reigns, had only just revealed his unfortunate battle with leukemia earlier that night. During his heartfelt promo, Reigns would also relinquish the WWE Universal Championship.

Turns out that Ambrose’s actions weren’t originally planned to take place this past Monday. Original plans had his assault scheduled in November circa Survivor Series.

Dirty Deeds

According to the Wrestling Observer Live’s Bryan Alvarez, Dean “wasn’t even supposed to turn heel last night.”

Apparently, “the actual plan was that he was going to turn around Survivor Series and they [the WWE] moved it up and they specifically did it to capitalize on the emotions of a guy who’s home to fight for his life.”

He also speculated that a huge one-on-one match between Dean Ambrose and Seth Rollins would be scheduled for Wrestlemania 35 on April 7th, 2019.

“I believe 100% that the WrestleMania main event is Seth Rollins challenging Dean Ambrose for the WWE Title,” he said. “Now how you get there, I have no idea.”

What do you think? Would you like to see this match main event Wrestlemania 35? Were you conflicted at all at what transpired? How would you like to see them book their feud going forward?

Roman Reigns’ Promo Was Kept Secret Prior To Raw

0

With Roman Reigns revealing the sad news that he is unfortunately once again battling leukaemia, the wrestling world has since come together in support for the WWE’s Big Dog.

With news so crushing and personal, it’s astounding there was no leak prior to Reigns’ promo as he kicked off Raw. His promo would stun the crowd into a respectful silence as he opened up on live TV to relinquish the WWE Universal Championship.

“None Of That Was A Put-On”

According to Wrestling Observer Live’s Bryan Alvarez, not many backstage personnel were made aware of the promo’s true purpose.

He said, “[…] a very small amount of people knew beforehand, probably between 6 and 8 of the top executives. So when the show opens and the announcers are all happy talking about Roman Reigns defending the title at Crown Jewel — none of that was a put-on.”

“None of them had any idea what was going on until he went out there and did his speech and he has since gone home and that’s the story,” Alvarez said, before concluding with, “I guess we’ll just have to find out how well he does with treatment — the second battle, it’s worrisome.”

WALTER Talks To Steve Austin About His Career, Hulk Hogan

0

WALTER appeared on the latest edition of The Steve Austin Show and covered his career, his wrestling influences, and more.

WALTER On His Wrestling Influences

When discussing who he patterned himself after, WALTER brought up some of the Americans that made a name for themselves working in Japan. He mentioned Stan Hansen, Bruiser Brody, and Terry Gordy specifically.

Naturally, Hulk Hogan’s name came up as well. “Don’t let anyone tell you Hogan can’t work,” Austin said.

“I’m not a believer that wrestling has to be crisp and perfect all the time,” WALTER said.

The Indie Grind

The grind of the indie scene is a common theme when Austin interviews independent talent, and WALTER touched on that here as well.

“Even though I’m really busy, I try to have a good private life. I always try not to jump 100 percent into the life of pro wrestling where I’m really caught up in it. After weekends where I work, my body is sore but my brain is fried too.”

“I’ve had times in the last month where it felt like I was just visiting my girlfriend’s place, rather than feeling like I was coming home… I like to be home and be a normal dude.”

Breaking In

As the topic shifted to breaking into the business, WALTER revealed that he gave up a solid career in another industry to pursue wrestling.

“I had a good real job, I worked at a logistics company, I started there in an apprenticeship on the warehouse, but I worked my way up. I had my own office and I was in charge of a hundred people.

“It was a good job, money was fine and everything. But at the end of the day, you have to care about stuff that is not your real interest,” he said.

WALTER’s Sports Background

WALTER also spoke about his athletic background, as he was something of a high-level youth soccer player growing up. He played as a goalkeeper but chose not to pursue playing professionally.

WALTER attributes that to the fact that in Europe, you need to decide as a young teenager whether or not to pursue a professional football career.

He says that he started getting interested in other things at that age, and chose not to stick with the sport.

WALTER also discussed his personal life and the indie scene in Europe when he first started out compared to now. He also touched upon his work with the WXW wrestling school, his legendary chops, and much more.

A clip from the show can be found below. The full episode can be found here.

Joey Janela Set To Undergo Knee Surgery Friday

0

Joey Janela revealed on Twitter that he’s set to undergo major knee surgery this Friday. Wrestling’s Bad Boy has been out of action since September after suffering a multitude of injuries to his left knee while performing a dive at a Game Changer Wrestling event.

Janela reportedly tore his MCL and his PCL, and sprained his ACL, while also sustaining an impaction fracture, a bone bruise, and partially tearing another ligament in the knee.

The ligament tears are something of a common injury for athletes, and the standard timetable in sports for returning from major knee ligament surgery is nine to twelve months, as evidenced by Carson Wentz in the NFL.

That rough timetable for Janela’s return to action is what we reported earlier this month. How the additional injuries that Janela sustained will impact that timetable remains to be seen.

Joey Janela’s LA Confidential

While absent from in-ring action, Janela will still continue to book his L.A. Confidential shows, the latest of which will take place November 16. The event is presented by Game Changer Wrestling.

For more information on the event, including ticket information, click here.

Do you anticipate Janela being able to return in a year?

Seth Rollins Names Sasha Banks As Someone He Can See In The Shield

1

Dean Ambrose turned on Seth Rollins this Monday Night on Raw. It’s the second time a member of the Shield has turned on his brothers, Rollins himself having been the first back in 2014.

Before Monday, however, Rollins took part in an interview with the Daily Express in the UK. When asked what female member of the WWE roster would make a good member of the Shield, Rollins had someone specific in mind.

“The Shield has got a lot of attitude, we got a lot of intensity,” Rollins said. “My gut instinct is Sasha Banks, to be honest. I think she’s got the intangibles.”

Seth Rollins and Sasha Banks WWE Careers Thus Far

Banks was signed to WWE and reported to the Performance Center in 2012, around the same time the Shield was being called up to the main roster. Reigns and Rollins were signed to WWE in 2010 and Ambrose was signed in 2011. They then debuted on the main roster together in 2012.

Banks debuted on NXT programming in late 2012. She wouldn’t be called up to the main roster until 2015, however. This was during the very early stages of the Women’s Revolution on the main roster. At the time, Banks was part of Team B.A.D with Naomi and Tamina.

How Was Raw’s Viewership With Roman Reigns’ Announcement And Dean Ambrose’s Heel Turn?

0

This week’s Raw saw some of the biggest stories of the year unfold and it both started and ended with different members of the Shield making unexpected moves.

The show featuring Roman Reigns’ announcement and Dean Ambrose’s heel turn saw an increase in the audience too as it drew 2.548 million viewers which is up 6.3% from last week’s episode of the show.

The emotional opening segment, which saw Roman relinquishing the Universal Championship appears to have helped the second hour of the show as it saw an unusual increase in audience.

The first hour drew 2.609 million viewers and then the second hour saw a slight increase, scoring 2.622 million viewers. The third hour, however, then saw a decrease and it brought 2.413 million viewers.

For comparison, last week’s Raw episode had drawn 2.490 million viewers in the first hour, 2.482 million viewers in the second hour and 2.216 million viewers in the final hour of the show.

This increase helped Raw in beating the rating of past several weeks and this episode did the best ratings since the post Hell In A Cell episode of the Red Branded Show in mid-September.

With Dean Ambrose’s shocking heel turn at the end of the episode, it’d be interesting to see how next week’s episode does in ratings and how many people tune in to watch the follow up of these events.

Shane McMahon Responds To CM Punk Chants, Alexa Bliss Hints At Evolution Appearance

Shane McMahon Responds To CM Punk Chants

WWE is expected to hold a Best In The World tournament at the upcoming Crown Jewel event and we all know that this was also the catchphrase of the former WWE Champion CM Punk.

So it was natural that a CM Punk chant broke out in the arena during the latest episode of SmackDown Live while Shane McMahon was promoting the upcoming tournament in a segment.

The SmackDown Commissioner responded to these chants from the crowd saying ‘I don’t think he is in the tournament’. You can check out his reply in the below video at the 1:15 minute mark:

Alexa Bliss Hints At Evolution Appearance

We noted before how Alexa Bliss suffered a concussion during a WWE Live Event this past Saturday, putting her status for the upcoming Evolution PPV in question.

Bliss then recently posted a photo from her Twitter account. She promotes a new headband in the photo as seen below and also hints that she will be at the upcoming PPV this Sunday:

Though this doesn’t necessarily mean that she will be wrestling at the show. Based on this week’s Raw, it appears Alicia Fox could be her replacement if Alexa is not cleared in time for the historic event.

Top Raw Star Working Hurt, Undertaker ‘Rise Of The Taker’ Tour Announced

1

Top Raw Star Working Hurt

We noted before how Alexa Bliss suffered another injury this past Saturday and latest report reveals that she is not the only Raw Star that has been hurt.

On the latest edition of Wrestling Observer Live, Dave Meltzer talked about Finn Balor picking up a surprising victory over Bobby Lashley on this week’s Raw, revealing that Lashley has actually been working hurt.

Though Meltzer couldn’t provide any further details on his condition. So it’s hard to say how severe Lashley’s injury is. Whether his sudden loss is related to his status is not known either but we’ll keep you posted.

Undertaker ‘Rise Of The Taker’ Tour Announced

Undertaker has been protecting his character less and less in recent times. As we noted before, it wasn’t long ago when he allowed a photo of his rehabilitation to be posted online, on top of his recent off character interview.

The latest in this spree is a new tour featuring the Dead Man which has been announced to take place on three dates next year, in the spring of 2019.

Inside The Ropes recently announced a “Rise Of The Taker” tour for next year. It will see the former World Champion making appearances in London on April 30, in Glasgow on May 1 and in Manchester on May 2:

Tickets for this event will go on sale from October 31.

Indie Wrestler Shares Great Story Of Roman Reigns Helping Him

0

While we all can have our personal opinion on the character called Roman Reigns, there is no denying that the man behind the gimmick deserves to be respected for all the hard work he has put in over the years.

He deserves this respect even more because he has been doing so while living with his disease for the past 11 years without ever mentioning his struggles and a story from an indie wrestler only adds to this feeling.

Indie Wrestler Connor Braxton recently shared a great story about Reigns from his Twitter account after the Big Dog relinquished the Universal Championship on Raw this week.

Braxton, who trained at Seth Rollins & Marek Brave’s Black And Brave Wrestling Academy in Moline, Illinois recalled the time when he had graduated from the wrestling school and was days away from his first match.

However, he didn’t have wrestling boots and was short on money. So he asked Rollins if there was anyone who was looking to sell a used pair and Seth contacted Roman.

Though, instead of selling the boots, Roman asked if Connor was a good brother and gave him the boots as a present asking him to return the favor to someone else in need in future:

Once again this story proves that whether you cheered or booed the Roman Reigns character who has been appearing on your screens, the man behind it is still a treasure to the business.

Footage Of Becky Lynch’s Attack On Charlotte Flair

Becky Lynch has been on fire since turning heel. One of the most recent examples of how good she is was the SmackDown Women’s Champion’s attack on Charlotte Flair during her visit to the performance center.

Some photos of this altercation had previously been posted on social media. WWE released the full video footage of Becky’s attack on this week’s episode of SmackDown Live:

5 Takeaways From WWE SmackDown (10/23)

The October 23rd, 2018 episode of WWE SmackDown aired live from the Prudential Center in Newark, NJ. In addition to the takeaways below, Charlotte Flair responded to Becky Lynch’s attack at the WWE Performance Center earlier this week. Charlotte vowed to recapture her SmackDown Women’s Championship in their Last Woman Standing match this Sunday night at WWE Evolution.

Here are 5 takeaways from this week’s show:

Big Show & The Bar Destroyed New Day

Big Show The Bar SmackDown 10 23

New Day came down to the ring to start this week’s show. New Day lost their SmackDown Tag Team Championships to The Bar last week after Big Show interfered in the match.

Woods said that they were cheated out of their titles last week and accused The Bar of “lowering the bar”. New Day added that they couldn’t believe what the Big Show did and that they all thought he was cool.

Big E joked about Big Show turning heel and face all the time and said he flips back and forth more than a flapjack. SmackDown Tag Team Champions The Bar interrupted and came down to the entrance ramp with the Big Show.

Kofi Kingston faced Big Show in a singles match as Big E, Xavier Woods, Cesaro, and Sheamus were ringside. Kingston connected with a Dropkick to start off the match but Big Show shrugged it off and delivered a massive chop to Kofi’s chest.

Big Show followed it up with three Chokeslams in a row. Big Show was about to go for a fourth one but Big E and Woods got into the ring to prevent it. A brawl then broke out after the match ended in a DQ.

Big Show Chokeslammed Big E and then hit Woods with the KO Punch to end the segment. The Bar will defend their SmackDown Tag Team Championships against New Day at WWE Crown Jewel.

Bryan broke free and tagged in AJ Styles. AJ locked in the Calf Crusher on Jey Uso in the middle of the ring but Jimmy Uso broke it up. Bryan and Jimmy traded shots and Daniel sent Jimmy out of the ring.

AJ set up for the Phenomenal Forearm and almost hit Bryan by accident. Styles then accidentally hit Bryan with the Pele Kick and The Usos took advantage. Jimmy and Jey hit Styles with a Superkick and then a Splash for the pinfall victory.

Rusev Tapped Out Aiden English

Rusev SmackDown 10 23

Rusev went right after English after the bell rang and beat the hell out of him at ringside. Rusev brought English back inside the ring and Aiden quickly connected with a Neckbreaker.

Aiden then started talking trash to Rusev and then insulted Lana as well. Lana responded by launching a shoe at English.

Rusev capitalized by connecting with the Machka Kick and then following it up with the Accolade for the submission victory.

Rey Mysterio Defeated The Miz

Rey Mysterio 10 23

Rey Mysterio joined Miz TV on this week’s episode of WWE SmackDown. The Miz said that the WWE Universe was thrilled to have Mysterio back and asked Rey why he decided to return to WWE.

Mysterio stated that it feels good to be back home and Miz immediately interrupted. The Miz poked fun at Rey’s height and claimed that people are no longer interested in the underdog anymore.

Miz claimed that everyone is interested in larger than life stars and then bragged about how awesome he was. The Miz added that he is the star of everything and that he does it all. The Miz vowed to win the World Cup at Crown Jewel and prove that he is the best in the world.

Rey said that he was very disappointed because he thought he was booked to be on Truth TV tonight. The crowd erupted in “Truth TV!” chant and Miz boasted about defeated R-Truth and getting Truth TV canceled.

Mysterio said he didn’t come back to SmackDown to be on some dusty talk show, he came back to compete. Rey then challenged The Miz to a match right now and Miz claimed that nobody int he crowd wanted to see them fight.

The crowd broke out in a “yes!” chant and Miz hit Mysterio with a cheap shot. Rey battled back with an Enziguri and then went for 619 but Miz escaped out of the ring as SmackDown went to a commercial break.

During the break, SmackDown GM Paige made the match official. Rey started off the match in control and booted The Miz out of the ring. Mysterio followed it up with a sliding Splash outside the ring.

Back in the ring, Mysterio hit a springboard Crossbody for a near fall. Mysterio charged Miz in the corner but Miz got out of the way and Rey crashed into the turnbuckle. When SmackDown returned, The Miz hit Mysterio with a few It Kicks for a two count. The Miz went for a Skull Crushing Finale off the top rope but Rey countered into a Hurricanrana. Mysterio followed it up with a seated Senton and then a kick to Miz’s face.

Randy Orton Picked Up A Win Over Jeff Hardy

Randy Orton SmackDown 10 23

SmackDown Commissioner Shane McMahon came down to the ring to a great reaction from the crowd. Shane acknowledged the crowd and then hyped up WWE Evolution this Sunday night.

Shane then hyped up the WWE World Cup at Crown Jewel in which the “best in the world” will be crowned. This prompted a “CM Punk!” chant and Shane said that he doesn’t believe he is in the tournament. Shane added that he thought a SmackDown Superstar was going to win the tournament before introducing Jeff Hardy down to the ring.

https://twitter.com/totaldivaseps/status/1054911629534597120

Randy Orton faced Jeff Hardy in the main event of this week’s show. Hardy connected with a Jawbreaker and then a kick to the face that sent Orton to the corner. Hardy went for a Splash but Randy got out of the way and sent Jeff tumbling out of the ring.

Orton smashed Hardy’s head off the steel steps several times before rolling him back inside the ring. Randy went for a cover but Jeff was able to kick out at the last moment. Orton stomped on Hardy’s ribs several times for another two count.

Randy tied up Hardy in the turnbuckle and stomped on him some more. Orton started ripping at Jeff’s earing once again and then bounced his face off the announce table. Randy then slammed Hardy on top of the table but the table didn’t break.

Back in the ring, Orton went for a cover but Jeff was able to kick out at two. Orton went after Hardy’s earing again but this time Jeff battled back. Hardy connected with an Atomic Drop and followed it up with a Leg Drop for a near fall.

Due to this, he is forced to relinquish the WWE Universal Title as he said that needs to focus on his family and his health. Here’s an excerpt from the tribute, which you can read here.

“Every time after that when I would see him he would greet me with a big hug and ask me how I was doing in his calm and composed demeanor. Despite not knowing Roman very well, despite having limited interactions with Roman I am very thankful for them. At the end of that same tour Roman told us to be thankful and that no matter what match you had, good or bad, the beauty was that we get to do it all over again the next day. and he’s right. All the strength to a fantastic human being, performer and leader. Till we meet again, Roman.”

Update On John Cena and WWE Crown Jewel Event

12

It looks as though WWE’s Crown Jewel event in November could well be in jeopardy. The show is scheduled to be taking place on November 2nd from King Saud University Stadium in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia.

One of the Superstars that may not be appearing on the show is 16-time World Champion John Cena. According to Wrestling Observer Radio WWE’s creative team were told on Monday afternoon that Cena wouldn’t be available for the show. Cena was scheduled to take part in the ‘World Cup’ tournament on the card. Interestingly Cena was still advertised for the event on RAW this past Monday night. Whether Cena changed his mind late on Monday or if he may be more inclined to appear on the show if it is moved to a different venue is unconfirmed at this time.

It was mentioned by Dave Meltzer on the WOR show that the Crown Jewel event itself is in “jeopardy.” Reportedly it is a lot less likely to go ahead in Saudi Arabia than it was last week. Tickets were expected to go on sale for the show last Friday but this did not come to fruition.

There are also rumors that Daniel Bryan has also refused to appear at the Crown Jewel event on November 2nd. This however has not been verified and he is still scheduled to face AJ Styles for the WWE Championship.
