There is mounting political pressure for WWE to “pause” or cancel their upcoming show in Saudi Arabia. Senators are now calling on WWE to not go through with the event.
According to a report from the Wrestling Observer, backup plans are being developed in case the show does not take place.
Linda McMahon’s role in the Trump administration is playing a role in the pressure the Senators are putting on WWE.
“Private enterprise is private enterprise, different than a governmental entity,” Sen. Bob Menendez said to the media. “but because [Linda McMahon] is part of the president’s cabinet, it falls into the grey area where the administration really should give it some thought and maybe even prevail upon them not doing it.”
Why Is There Political Pressure To Cancel Crown Jewel?
Washington Post journalist Jamal Khashoggi is missing and presumed dead. He entered the Saudi Arabian consulate in Turkey on October 2nd, 2018 and has never been seen again. US spies are saying they have proof he was assassinated on the order of the Saudi Royal Family, a charge they are denying.
Furthermore, Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau angered the Saudi Royal family recently as well. Trudeau called for the KSA to release journalists being held prisoner in the country and scheduled for beheadings. Following Trudeau’s comments, the KSA expelled Canadian diplomats from the country. They also pulled home Saudi Arabian students who had been studying abroad in Canada. As of this writing, no Canadians are scheduled for Crown Jewel.
WWE Women’s Division Superstar and veteran Mickie James recently spoke to The Hype Magazine. James gave some interesting comments on RAW Women’s Champion Ronda Rousey and her WWE progression thus far.
The WWE legend stated that “I think she’s come a long way since she debuted on WrestleMania. It’s tough because you go from being in the ring with Kurt Angle, Triple H, and Stephanie [McMahon]. Stephanie has so much heat. Fans love her and hate her and want to love to hate her.” James clarified her comments further by claiming that “you’re in there with the best of the best and then go from that platform into the women’s division, which is a whole other animal of the family.”
Adapting To The Locker Room
James also discussed how Ronda has adapted to the road and locker room, stating that “In terms of the locker room and on the road together and us always working together to create these moments and matches. While trying to understand that cycle, but I think she’s working hard and she’s trying hard.” Mickie also felt that “it’s a different world for her and I think it’s a different dynamic in the sense of that we’re all competitive, clearly, but we’re also all a family and we all must work together. You are only as good as the person in there lets you be at the end of the day. Hopefully, they are professional enough to let you do that.”
Comparing MMA to Pro Wrestling
James also compared Ronda’s career in Mixed Martial Arts to Pro Wrestling, saying that “I think that’s probably the biggest difference for her, that and to understand that nobody is out to get her.” I think that she’s trying hard and I’m sure that it’s a different world for her to get adapted to and she’s recognizing that this is a whole different animal. I think she loves it here in the WWE.”
Monday Night RAW earlier this week featured the return of WWE Hall Of Famer Kurt Angle. Several weeks ago, RAW Commissioner Stephanie McMahon placed Angle on a forced “vacation.” There was no given timeframe to when Angle was to be expected back. However, he made his highly-anticipated return to qualify for the WWE World Cup.
Angle was dressed up in a Conquistador costume for a Battle Royal that featured several indy wrestlers with different gimmicks. Corbin inserted himself into the match, but was last eliminated by Angle, who unmasked himself after his victory. Now Angle will participate in the WWE World Cup at the “Crown Jewel” even in Saudi Arabia.
Per a report from PWInsider, Angle will be a part of Monday Night RAW next week. He will also be a regular character going forward. It’s likely they’ll be moving forward with the feud between Angle and Corbin. There have been rumors that Angle and Corbin could face off in a Survivor Series match to determine who will be RAW’s General Manager.
Angle has been training hard for his in-ring return to WWE. Many believe he could finally get his long-awaited singles match at WrestleMania next year in New Jersey.
What do you think will be Angle’s role on RAW in the coming weeks?
WWE Intercontinental Champion Seth Rollins is undoubtedly one of the best professional wrestlers on the planet right now. However, across the pond, there’s another man who rivals him in that department. That man is current IWGP heavyweight champion Kenny Omega. “The Cleaner” has been the face of New Japan Pro Wrestling (NJPW) for quite some time.
With his contract coming up soon, however, Omega could possibly hit the free agency market. That would make him ripe for the plucking for WWE. WWE will be able to offer Omega a contract that likely no other promotion can match. Especially with the money they’ve made from their recent broadcast deals and shows in Saudi Arabia. The professional wrestling juggernaut is expected to make big moves once several top stars’ contracts expire in January of 2019.
Rollins hopes that this is the case. Appearing at the ACE Comic Con in Chicago, Illinois earlier today (Fri. October 12, 2018), Rollins answered some questions from fans. One fan asked “The Architect” who he’d like to share the ring with that isn’t signed to WWE right now. Unsurprisingly, Rollins named Omega:
“I would like to face Kenny Omega,” said Rollins with playful authority. “I am the best wrestler in the world, and would like to prove that.”
What do you think about Rollins wanting to wrestle Omega?
It looks like David Arquette will be a part of IMPACT Wrestling’s “One Night Only” pay-per-view (PPV). The former WCW World Heavyweight Champion has reentered the professional wrestling world in recent months. He recently teamed up with RJ City at a Border City Wrestling event. In fact, it was Border City Wrestling’s 25th-anniversary show from Windsor, Ontario, Canada.
The show took place at the St. Clair College Gymnasium last weekend. Arquette and RJ took on “Halal Beefcake” Joe Coleman and Idris Abraham in a Tag Team match. Arquette and City picked up the win, in a match professional wrestling fans will now get to witness next month.
It looks like IMPACT Wrestling will air the match during their “One Night Only” PPV on Friday, November 9th on the Global Wrestling Network. It’s unknown as of this writing if Arquette has come to any sort of agreement with the promotion.
However, it should be known that he has been working the indy scene a lot lately. He also recently visited WWE headquarters for unknown reasons. It’s believed he was likely filming material for the WWE Network. TMZ Sports was able to get some video of Arquette and RJ City’s match in Windsor. Check out a clip of Arquette hitting a flying maneuver during the bout here:
What do you think about IMPACT airing one of Arquette’s matches?
WWE Hall Of Famers Lita and Trish Stratus will return to the ring later this month (Sun. October 28th, 2018). The pair will be involved in the first-ever all-female pay-per-view (PPV) in WWE history. They will team up against the duo of Alexa Bliss and Mickie James.
Initially, Trish and Lita were scheduled to have their own singles matches on the card. Trish was to have a one-on-one match with Bliss, while Lita was booked for a singles match with James. However, as the storyline progressed on WWE TV, it was revealed on RAW this week that the match would instead be a Tag Team bout.
It looks like this could be just the first of many Tag Teams between Trish and Lita. PWInsider reports that WWE is planning to have the two stick around after Evolution. The plan would be to have them appear on “major shows” as a team moving forward.
It wasn’t specifically mentioned which shows WWE is hoping for, however, obvious candidates such as Survivor Series and WrestleMania come to mind. This is also very interesting considering the rumors surrounding possible Women’s Tag Team Titles coming to WWE.
What do you think about Trish and Lita sticking around WWE as a team?
– Following this week’s episode of SmackDown LIVE, WWE.com announced that Edge would return to host a special edition of “The Cutting Edge” next Tuesday as part of SmackDown’s 1000th episode. It’s quite possible that the WWE Hall of Famer’s appearance has already been nixed since WWE.com is no longer advertising the talk show segment as taking place. The announcement now redirects to the “Shows” page.
Edge is not otherwise advertised for SmackDown 1000 by WWE.com or the official website of the Capital One Arena. WWE.com posted their preview for the show tonight and there’s no mention of Edge.
Here is WWE.com’s original announcement:
“The Rated-R Superstar is coming home.
“Edge is returning to host a special edition of his talk show “The Cutting Edge” next Tuesday as part of SmackDown’s historic 1000th episode.
“The WWE Hall of Famer was responsible for many of the blue brand’s greatest moments, whether it was stepping up as one of the SmackDown’s premiere Superstars after the initial brand split in 2002, his unforgettable Money in the Bank cash-in on The Undertaker or running roughshod over SmackDown with General Manager Vickie Guerrero in his corner.
“What will he have to say? Find out when “The Cutting Edge” returns during SmackDown 1000, next Tuesday at 8/7 C on USA Network!”
– A new episode of Table for 3 featuring Kevin Nash, Diamond Dallas Page, and Big Show will air this Monday night on the WWE Network immediately following Raw. The former WCW World Heavyweight Champions share untold tales and their most memorable moments from WCW Monday Nitro. Here is the synopsis:
“Legendary WCW ‘Big Boys’ Kevin Nash, DDP, and Big Show gather to share untold tales and their most memorable moments from WCW Monday Nitro!”
– A return to WWE has been rumored for Rey Mysterio since he was a surprise entrant in the 2018 Men’s Royal Rumble Match in January and it will finally happen next week.
WWE announced this week that Mysterio will square off with United States Champion Shinsuke Nakamura in a WWE World Cup Qualifying Match on next Tuesday’s historic 1000th episode of SmackDown LIVE in Washington D.C. Mysterio is advertised to wrestle twice on the show as WWE revealed tonight in an email to those in the D.C. area that he will also compete in a tag team match.
In updated advertising for the event, Mysterio is slated to team with WWE Champion AJ Styles and Daniel Bryan against Randy Orton, The Miz, and Nakamura. A match pitting Styles and Bryan against Samoa Joe and Miz was previously advertised.
WWE also noted in the email that Flair will go one-on-one with SmackDown Women’s Champion Becky Lynch (after previously advertising Flair, Asuka, and Naomi vs. Lynch and The IIconics). This is presumably a dark match since they’re scheduled to face off at Evolution in a Last Woman Standing Match.
– After wrestling at WWE Super Show-Down last Saturday in her home country of Australia, Peyton Royce reflected on her long journey from the independents.

Royce also revealed that she would spend thousands of dollars on professional photos hoping it would land her a tryout with WWE.

Royce and fellow Australian Billie Kay beat Naomi and Asuka in a tag team match, with Royce scoring the pin on Naomi.
– Not only did Ricochet celebrate his 30th birthday at last night’s NXT live event in Saint Charles, Missouri, he also debuted new ring gear. Instead of wearing long tights, the NXT North American Champion competed in traditional wrestling trunks.
– Nia Jax is wrestling at a house show tonight for the first time since her return from a reported leg injury on Raw on September 17. The former Raw Women’s Champion revealed on social media that she’s working this weekend’s tour starting with tonight’s show in Syracuse, New York.
Jax last wrestled at a house show on July 22 in Pikeville, Kentucky, losing to then-Raw Women’s Champion Alexa Bliss in a Triple Threat Match that also included Natalya.
Acting WWE RAW General Manager Baron Corbin responded to UFC lightweight champion Khabib Nurmagomedov claiming on his official Twitter account that WWE wants to sign him. He also took a shot at the WWE by using the hashtag #FakeFights. As result, Corbin responded with the following:
The #205live champ @WWE_Murphy has you by 50lbs, I’m just sayin
Although Sami Zayn is still on the sidelines, he is already eyeing a match with the returning Rey Mysterio inside of a WWE ring. Zayn has been out of action after undergoing surgery on both rotator cuffs and isn’t expected back until early 2019. The original belief was that he should be back in time for WrestleMania 35 next year.
Zayn was last seen when he suffered a loss to Bobby Lashley at the WWE Money in the Bank pay-per-view event in Chicago, Illinois at the Allstate Arena on the WWE Network. MITB was the last date with the company for Zayn before he took time off.
Mysterio is slated to make his return to the WWE by taking on WWE United States Champion Shinsuke Nakamura in a non-title WWE World Cup qualifier at SmackDown 1000 week. Zayn tweeted out the following:
The WWE is slated to make a return to world’s most famous arena, Madison Square Garden, in New York City on Wednesday, December 26th, 2018 for a live event. This event was originally advertised to feature the superstars from the blue brand, SmackDown Live. However, the company has made some changes to the card.
The first advertisements for the show had AJ Styles vs. Samoa Joe and Daniel Bryan vs. The Miz. With the change made from a SmackDown show to a RAW event, new matches have been booked. The line-up now features:
(Steel Cage Match) Universal Champion Roman Reigns vs. Braun Strowman
RAW Women’s Champion Ronda Rousey vs. Mickie James
RAW Tag Team Champions Dolph Ziggler & Drew McIntyre vs. Seth Rollins & Dean Ambrose
Finn Balor, Kevin Owens, Bobby Lashley, Elias, Jinder Mahal, Alexa Bliss, and Bayley are also advertised for this show. The WWE will be announcing more matches for this live event in the coming months.
For decades, WWE considered MSG their home arena and only the company held events at this arena. However, that all changed once ROH and NJPW teamed up to hold an event there during WrestleMania 34 weekend.
WWE Champion AJ Styles recently spoke with The Daily Star. During the interview, he brought up how he and WWE NXT UK Superstar Tyler Bate could have an unbelievable match.
Styles said, “If the opportunity presents itself, I think that him and I could have an unbelievable match.” The publication also got a comment from Bate, who stated about the potential match, “I think I could have a good one with AJ.”
Styles will make his next title defense against Daniel Bryan at the upcoming WWE Crown Jewel pay-per-view event takes place on November 2nd, 2018 in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia at the King Saud University Stadium on the WWE Network.
Alexa Bliss Gets New Tattoo
Former WWE RAW Women’s Champion Alexa Bliss had tattoo work done at Metamorph Studios in Chicago this week and mentioned it on her official Instagram account with the “#WhiteInkTattoo” hashtag. She did not reveal the tattoo, which you can see here:
Bliss and Mickie James are slated to take on WWE Hall of Famers Mickie James and Trish Stratus at the upcoming Evolution pay-per-view event on Sunday, October 28, 2018 in Long Island, New York at the Nassau Veterans Memorial Coliseum.
WWE has announced who will be replacing Kevin Owens in the second season of Mixed Match Challenge that airs on Facebook after SmackDown Live goes off the air on the USA Network.
Former WWE United States Champion Bobby Roode will replace the former Universal Champion and team up with Natalya. They will take on Mickie James and Bobby Lashley on next Tuesday’s episode.
If you recall, Natalya & Owens lost to Ember Moon & Braun Strowman during the first episode of the second season of the show. The reason for the change is due to Owens being out of action after suffering a knee injury and getting surgery.
Dave Meltzer reported in the latest edition of the Wrestling Observer Newsletter that the extent of Owens’ knee injury is unknown at this time. He’s currently scheduled for minor surgery, but they will not know the full extent of the damage until they go in and operate. The internal fear is that he could be out for 8 months, which would project his return timeframe to be anytime from February to June of 2019. An interesting state has surfaced online about the second season of Mixed Match Challenge, which is the fact that this marks the third time that a wrestler has had to be replaced in thus far this season. Moon replaced Alexa Bliss in the tournament, and James replaced Sasha Banks.
Ten co-ed teams will participate in a round-robin style tournament to determine the winners. The finals of the tournament will take place at the upcoming WWE TLC pay-per-view on Sunday, December 16th, 2018 in San Jose, California at the SAP Center and will air on the WWE Network and some traditional pay-per-view outlets.
Punishment Martinez is headed to the WWE as Pwinsider.com reports that the former Ring of Honor TV Champion has signed with the company. If you recall, Martinez finished up with ROH at the TV tapings on September 29th in Las Vegas, Nevada at the Orleans Arena, which was the first batch of episodes taped since their Death Before Dishonor pay-per-view event.
Martinez was saying his goodbyes to the locker room as this was his final scheduled date for the company. It was noted at the time in reports that he opted not to sign a new deal with the promotion as he wanted to be free going forward.
Now, he is slated to start shortly at the WWE Performance Center in Orlando, Florida to begin training and eventually, be used on the NXT brand. For years now, once Triple H signs an independent star to a developmental deal to use them on the yellow brand he would have them sitting at ringside for NXT specials. It appears that Martinez might be no different considering that the next special is coming up next month.
The NXT TakeOver: Los Angeles event takes place on Saturday, November 17, 2018 in Los Angeles, California at the Staples Center and will air on the WWE Network. It should be noted that WWE does have scheduled tapings in Winter Park, Florida booked before this show. Thus, it’s possible he makes his promotional debut before then.
X-Division Champion Brian Cage recently spoke withSports Illustrated to promote Sunday’s Bound for Glory pay-per-view event.
At this show, he’s slated to team up with Pentagon Jr. and Fenix to take on Dave Crist, Jake Crist, & Sami Callihan in an OVE Rules match. When asked about it, Cage pointed out that OVE has a nice formula for amazing six-man tags but it does depend on who is working the match as it makes or breaks it.
“I have no doubt that the six of us are going to tear the house down. We can steal the show, it’s ours to take.”
Cage was also asked about who his dream opponent would be as well as being the king of the X-Division in Impact Wrestling. Cage brought up how he has always been a fan of the division and wanted to be a part of it.
“I know I’m bigger than most of the guys, but it’s a style and not a weight class, and I love to perform that style. To me, the X Division has been the core of Impact, and my all-time dream match is AJ Styles, and he was one of the pioneers of the X Division. I can’t wait to defend the title against Pentagon, Fenix, Rich Swann, and some former champions, too.”
Impact Wrestling will hold their Bound for Glory pay-per-view event on Sunday, October 14, 2018, at the Melrose Ballroom in New York City, New York. As a reminder, we will be providing live coverage of this event.
WWE Hall of Famer Hulk Hogan appeared on The Apter Chat with hosts Josh Shernoff and Bill Apter to promote the NWO reunion alongside Scott Hall and Kevin Nash. They will reunite for the “2 Sweet” fan event on Oct. 27 in Orlando at Mango’s Tropical Cafe in Orlando.
The day features five events spread across Mango’s Tropical Cafe and Hogan’s Beach Shop and includes a live recording of Eric Bischoff and Conrad Thompson’s “83 Weeks Podcast,” a two-and-a-half hour Q&A session with Hogan, Nash & Hall and group photo ops at the end of the day.
During the podcast, which he talked about various topics, Hogan was asked about WWE supporting the reunion and even promoting it. Hogan stated that WWE is in full support of it which he thinks is a cool thing. He brought up how fans thought that WWE would be upset by using the name NWO but made it known that WWE Chairman Vince McMahon was “very gracious and accommodating” and that “it’s a new day as everything is really good.”
Bret Hart Feud In WCW
Once Bret Hart made the jump from the WWE to WCW after the Montreal Screwjob in 1997, fans were hyped to see a feud between Hart and Hogan. However, although the promotion booked it, the feud never caught on with fans. Hogan stated that they tried and did everything they could to the point where they put the belt on Hart and Hogan put him over.
This is when Hogan got confused about the state of Hart’s career. Hogan believed that Hart wasn’t in the best physical shape back then because he thought Hart was coming off that stroke or something. To Hogan’s credit, it did note that he wasn’t sure what happened then talked about how Hart fell off his bicycle or something.
That stroke happened in 2002 and WCW was closed in 2001. Hart’s career ended in 1999 due to a head kick that caused a concussion by Goldberg.
“Maybe I’ve got my time frames confused. I can’t remember. It’s been so long. All I know is Bret came in, paid him a ton of money, did jobs for him” and more. He added that he doesn’t know what else he could’ve done but tapped out on that one.
Impact Wrestling has announced who will induct Abyss into the 2018 class of their Hall of Fame. On Thursday night, the promotion revealed that James Mitchell will do the honors.
The TNA Original will be celebrated and honored for his contributions to Impact Wrestling this weekend. The ceremony will take place on Saturday, October 13th in New York City at McHale’s Pub. He’s a former World Champion, X-Division Champion, and World Tag Team Champion. He joins Kurt Angle, Sting, Jeff Jarrett, Gail Kim, Earl Hebner, and Team 3D as members of the Hall of Fame.
The pre-show will air on Twitch at 7:30PM ET that will see stars of the roster arrive while the Hall of Fame ceremony will begin at 8PM ET. Also, tickets are available as well, it will be a limited engagement.
BREAKING: Father James Mitchell will induct @TherealAbyss into the IMPACT Hall of Fame as it streams TOMORROW live on Twitch.
As of this writing, Abyss doesn’t have a match lined up for the biggest pay-per-view event of the year for Impact Wrestling, which is Bound For Glory, but with only six matches advertised to take place, it’s possible that they can book him in a match that would follow up his induction night.
When Tama Tonga is upset or disagrees with something, he’ll let you know…
Tonga is currently upset with a recent report from the Wrestling Observer Newsletter. The report stated there is a morale problem backstage in NJPW and backlash against the new management team.
“There are people who in the past had never even considered WWE who are thinking about it,” the WON report reads. “And others who were completely committed to staying who are probably still leaning that way, but are considering the WWE option.”
Tama Tonga disagrees and he’s letting people know about it.
Funny reading that a lot of foreign performers are complaining about the work atmosphere not being “fun” in New Japan. What a load of shit. Plenty of great talents out there that would be grateful to have an opportunity to work in NJPW Who fed you those lies @davemeltzerWON ?
New President and management helping the company gain sponsorship with international expansion-What a time to be a part of New Japan. Traveling, big money, company growing.yeah bitch, us foreigners that have been here and worked our asses off are very proud of how far we’ve come
So to the foreigner or foreigners complaining to @davemeltzerWON that they are not having “fun” you can GTFO. I’ve never in my career here in New Japan have ever heard of a Japanese wrestler complaining about the work atmosphere not being “fun” in New Japan. GTFOUTTAHERE
There might be a morale problem in the back now as Tama Tonga goes to look for the person sending information to Dave Meltzer.
We don’t know how many wrestlers made anonymous contact with media in order to state their feelings towards the new management. Meltzer is saying, however, that it is not a member of the Elite. He also said it is NJPW wrestlers who you would never think would go to WWE.
According to the initial report, there are feelings that Harold Meij talks down to the wrestlers. The report also stated that the first round of contract offers was not met with a positive reception either.

Willie Mack & Rich Swann vs Matt Sydal & Ethan Page
Following Slammiversary and losing his X-Division Championship to Brian Cage, Matt Sydal began approaching Rich Swann about being his mentor. Swann said, however, that he’s not into yoga and Sydal’s style. The two had a single’s match in Mexico City last week which Sydal won after interference from Ethan Page.
Page accepted Sydal’s offer fro mentorship and the two challenged Swann to find a partner and face them at Bound For Glory. Swann only needed a week to announce Willie Mack as his partner.
Mack has not competed in Impact Wrestling before. He was on the Lucha Underground side of the Impact vs Lucha Underground show over WrestleMania weekend, however. Most recently, Mack challenged Cody for the NWA World Heavyweight Championship. The NWA posted the full match to their YouTube channel:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UwkiiSyJoME
In addition to being the current HOH Twitch TV Champion, Mack is also a 2x former Trios Champion on Lucha Underground.
Impact Wrestling presented the Go Home Show before Bound For Glory last night. Below we have the top 9 takeaways from Impact Wrestling 10/11 from Mexico City, Mexico.
Impact Wrestling 10/11
The Ceasefire Is Over
In the final segment before Bound For Glory, King cut a promo on Konnan as both the OGZ and LAX stood watch. He said that Konnan leached off of the Mexican wrestlers he’s mentored over the years and then admitted to having put a hit out on him.
Konnan then said King’s actions were not the actions of a leader and that the bosses were watching. He then said the ceasefire was over and a brawl started between the two sides.

Taya Valkyrie has spent most of her career in Mexico wrestling stars like Faby Apache, who Blanchard defeated earlier in Impact’s trip to Mexico. Blanchard’s been able to wrestle two luchadoras in Mexico who have a similar style to her BFG opponent.
The Undead Realm Is Bound For Glory
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-xgSZC1Yd68
This Sunday there will be a segment (of sorts) held in the “undead realm”. Allie will travel there with the help of James Mitchell in an attempt to save Kiera Hogan from Su Yung.
Father James Mitchell has re-appeared in Impact Wrestling. We last saw Mitchell as the manager of Abyss in his feud with Kongo Kong. This week he was approached by Allie as she requested safe passage to the underworld. Mitchell said Allie must sell her soul but that her soul won’t belong to him, it will belong to someone down low. He then started to say he would get heat with the office when she interrupted him. Allie and Mitchell made a deal to meet Sunday night and he would bring her into the undead realm. What exactly this means for Allie, Su Yung, and Kiera Hogan

He then announced he was bringing his Open Challenge to New York City for Bound For Glory. The Open Challenge is only open to people from New York City, however.

The officials from the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia have found themselves in hot water after recent accusations of kidnapping and murder of a Washington Post journalist and this has affected WWE too.
With the company scheduled to return to the country for their Crown Jewel PPV next month, a lot of people have been wondering if this international controversy will affect their upcoming show or their relationship with the Kingdom in any way.
Due to the increased talk among fans on the matter in the past few days, the company has finally released a brief statement, stating that they are currently monitoring the situation:
“We are currently monitoring the situation.”
While this short statement doesn’t really reflect what the officials think about the whole situation, WWE releasing an official word on the matter is still a notable update.
For those who don’t know, Jamal Khashoggi, a Washington Post Journalist who was a Saudi National and a United States resident went missing last week.
He has written several articles criticizing the Saudi Government and is considered a high profile critic of Saudi’s Crown Prince.
Jamal was last seen entering Saudi Arabia’s consulate in Istanbul on 2nd October and his fiancée who was waiting outside said that he never came out. On the other hand, the Officials claimed that he left from the back door.
Many believe Khashoggi was tortured and then killed inside the consulate and this whole incident has since erupted into a major international controversy.
We noted before how WWE wrote Kevin Owens off TV with the Bobby Lashley segment on this week’s Raw due to the fact that he is dealing with a knee injury and requires a surgery.
At the time it was believed that Owens would stay out of action for a few weeks and return to WWE Programming soon. However, things have escalated very quickly.
According to the latest Wrestling Observer Newsletter, earlier it was believed that Owens was dealing with a minor issue, but there are people within the company who fear that his injury is more serious than first thought.
There hasn’t been an official diagnosis yet, so a concrete timetable on his return is not available. But word is that he will stay out of action from somewhere between four to eight months, depending on how his rehab goes.
This timetable means that Owens will not only be absent from the upcoming Survivor Series and Royal Rumble PPVs, but it’s possible that he will end up missing WrestleMania 35 as well.
On a positive note, this break can help Officials figure out a better plan for Kevin Owens when he returns, as many believe that his character has been directionless in recent times and it feels like the company doesn’t have a long term plan for him.
The ongoing feud between Becky Lynch and Charlotte Flair is unique in the manner that fans have actually been cheering Lynch and booing Flair despite the fact that Becky is actually the heel in this rivalry.
During her latest appearance on the Chasing Glory Podcast of Lilian Garcia, the former Women’s Champion talked about receiving this negative fan reaction among other things.
Charlotte first talked about her rivalry with the current SmackDown Women’s Champion saying that even though they have fought before the dynamic has changed and this feud is exciting for her because the fans are invested in it.
While discussing the negative fan reaction she has been receiving, the Queen said that it would have been a problem if she wasn’t getting a reaction at all.
Continuing on the topic, she claimed that stars are here to make the audience react and she doesn’t look at it as a negative and instead she looks at it as a sign that fans are invested in the story.
Apart from this, Charlotte also talked about fans comparing her rivalry with Becky to the feud between Stone Cold Steve Austin and The Rock and said that she is flattered by this comparison.
As noted before, after their match on SmackDown ended in a double count-out, Charlotte Flair is now scheduled to face Becky Lynch for the SmackDown Women’s Championship in a last woman standing match at the upcoming Evolution PPV.
While the fight between Conor McGregor and Khabib Nurmagomedov was one of the most iconic UFC bouts of all time, the events that followed made more headlines than the actual match.
A lot of people called what transpired after the match a black eye on the UFC, but it appears that WWE Legend Stone Cold Steve Austin thinks differently.
During the latest episode of his Steve Austin Show, the former World Champion discussed the match between these two. He said that it was a hell of a fight and Khabib had an answer for everything Conor did.
Talking about the post-fight incident, Austin mentioned how some people were saying that this is a black eye on the UFC, but claimed that he doesn’t look at it like that.
Steve Austin said that while he doesn’t have an opinion on who was at fault, as a fan, he wants to see stuff that entertains him and the whole incident doesn’t make him think any less of the UFC.
Continuing on the topic, the Texas Rattlesnake said that every time he buys a UFC PPV, he expects everything but the kitchen sink and the show highly entertained him.
