John Hennigan Announced As Part Of Survivor’s “Goliath Tribe”

1

The 37th season of the hit show Survivor will begin airing on September 26th, 2018. John Hennigan is one of the 20 new castaways to take part in the show. Recently, Survivor officially unveiled the teams for the season. Hennigan will be on the “Goliath Tribe” as they compete against the “David Tribe”.

This season of Survivor is loosely inspired by Malcolm Gladwell’s book David and Goliath: Underdogs, Misfits and the Art of Battling Giants.

CBS recently conducted an interview with Hennigan to help promote his involvement on the show.

John Hennigan Interviewed by CBS For Survivor

Hennigan was asked what 3 items he would bring with him if he were to really be stranded on a deserted island. “Three ab wheels,” Hennigan answered. “In case the first two break. It’s important to not underestimate fitness on the island.”

When CBS asked Hennigan to describe his “claim to fame”, he was ready with an answer. “Pro wrestling fans around the world know John Hennigan as The Mayor Of Slamtown, Johnny Nitro, John Morrison, Johnny Mundo, Johnny Impact, the Shaman of Sexy, The Wednesday Night Delight,” Hennigan stated. “I’ve had more epic ring names than most wrestlers have had championships and in addition to those, plenty of other nicknames that aren’t so nice.”

When asked about his hobbies, Hennigan listed surfing, MMA, parkour, and writing.

Should “Johnny Survivor” win the competition, he already knows how he’ll spend the prize money.

“I want to win and I want the money,” he said. “I’m planning on buying a Corvette the size of a Hummer, but as fast as a Corvette. With some of my winnings.”

Hulk Hogan Explains Why He Wanted All In To Succeed, Talks Bullet Club

2

Hulk Hogan has made it known that he was pulling for the success of the All In event that was presented by Cody Rhodes and The Young Bucks this past weekend, which made history for an indy event to draw over 10,000 fans in an arena.

The WWE Hall of Famer recently spoke with Justin Barrasso of Sports Illustrated to talk about various topics including All In where he noted that they have his support as he is a fan of their work and is rooting for them.

“WWE is the mainstay, they’re here forever, but whenever there is competition in the marketplace, especially with a group of guys like Cody Rhodes, the Young Bucks, and Kenny Omega, it just raises the bar with the level of shows and content.”

Bullet Club

Hogan also noted that he has been keeping a close eye on the Bullet Club for the last couple of years. He brought up how Cody has talked to him about potentially doing something with the group but admitted that those guys are on fire on their own.

Being reinstated into WWE Hall of Fame

A few months ago, WWE officials decided to reinstate Hogan back into the Hall of Fame after removing him following the controversy of his racist remarks came out in a leaked sex tape. Hogan stated that the fans are loyal and that we are all humans who make mistakes. He admitted that he’s not perfect but is trying to make a positive impact every day.

“People have stood by me and stuck with me. I’ll never forget that. They know me, they know who I am, and they know how much I love this business—this business is my life. I’ve got nothing but love in my heart for the fans, I’m forever grateful.”

All In: Zero Hour Viewership Numbers Revealed

3

The viewership numbers are in for the All In: Zero Hour show, which served as the kickoff program for the All In event that aired on pay-per-view, Fite TV, and HonorClub.

The show pulled in an average of 196,00 viewers on WGN America, according to Show Buzz Daily and ranked 85th for the day on cable for the top 150 shows that aired. It should be noted that this was the only show that aired on the cable network to make the top 150 list for the day.

For comparison purposes, this is what a typical episode of Lucha Underground on the El Rey Network and Impact Wrestling on Pop TV would draw. The only difference is that those shows air in primetime. Last week’s episode of Impact pulled in an average of 225,000 viewers, and their lowest total for the year is 168,000.

The Zero Hour show did a 0.08 rating in the 18-49 demo, which is important due to the fanbase that Cody Rhodes and The Young Bucks, who put on the event, was aiming to engage with. The show had to go up against some stiff competition as Saturday marked the kickoff for the college football season with games airing on ESPN, FOX, CBS, and ABC. Those games averaged a combined 10 million viewers.

The show featured two matches that saw Frankie Kazarian and Christopher Daniels vs. The Briscoes as well as the Over Budget Battle Royal, which was won by Flip Gordon, as the winner was set to get a shot at Jay Lethal’s ROH World Title later in the night.

As of this writing, the number of PPV buys for All In is currently unavailable. In case you missed the event, you can read the results at this link.

The WOW Live Event Tapings are scheduled for October 10th and October 11th from downtown Los Angeles at the famed Belasco Theater. The shows will air on AXS TV in early 2019.

“Knowing the expectations of our WOW fans to see the best in women’s professional wrestling, we are elated to sign Tessa Blanchard,” WOW Owner, Jeanie Buss said in a press release. “Tessa enhances and elevates our athletic roster of talent beyond measure and we can hardly wait to showcase her skills in the series set to broadcast on Mark Cuban’s AXS TV.”

NXT 9/5 Preview: Johnny Gargano vs Velveteen Dream

0

NXT is back with another episode from Full Sail University tonight. The main event will feature a match between Johnny Gargano and Velveteen Dream.

NXT 9/5 Preview

Johnny Gargano vs Velveteen Dream

Last week, Johnny Gargano admitted he’s made mistakes lately. It was Gargano’s interference that ultimately led to Tommaso Ciampa winning the NXT Championship. Gargano was also unable to take the title away from his rival at Takeover.

Velveteen Dream had a more successful night at Takeover when he defeated EC3. A win over Gargano would likely move the Dream one step closer to an NXT title shot. He’ll be wrestling on some EVOLVE shows coming up before that happens, however.

Kairi Sane In Single’s Action

The new NXT Women’s Champion will be in action tonight although her opponent has yet to be named.

Shayna Baszler is likely not finished with the champion and it’s certain she’ll be scouting this match closely. With the Mae Young Classic and the Evolution pay-per-view on the horizon, the NXT Women’s division is looking like it’ll get highly competitive in the near future.

The Forgotten Sons Makes Their NXT Debut

https://www.instagram.com/p/Bm6bsmQhJS_/?utm_source=ig_twitter_share&igshid=1tthl6ycq6et2

Wesley Blake and Steve Cutler have been working the NXT house show circuit under the name “The Forgotten Sons”. The stable has undergone some tweaking in 2018 but it seems they are now ready for the bright lights of Full Sail University.

Their opponents tonight have yet to be named.

Kassius Ohno vs Kona Reeves

Kassius Ohno has played something of a gate-keeper role throughout his latest NXT run. He’d prefer to be a title-contender, however. Ohno did pick up a win in his last match against Adrian Jaoude but he’s in for much tougher competition tonight.

Kona Reeves lost his last match out against EC3. Prior to that match, he had been on a 3-match winning streak, however. His victories were over Max Humberto, Raul Mendoza, and Patrick Scott. Not exactly household names. A win over Kassius Ohno tonight would be the biggest of his career.

Jim Ross: All In Main Event Getting Cut Short “Selfish & Not Professional”

8

Jim Ross has made his feelings clear on the All In main event going short on the most recent episode of his podcast, The Jim Ross Report. Recorded during a panel at Starrcast, and available to download and listen to now, Jim Ross had this to say:

“The last match was cut from 28 minutes to 12; that’s because the guys before them were trying to get their own s**t in and they went over [time],” he said, before continuing, “It’s not funny really, because all they did was rob the main event and matches later on of time, and those matches are in those spots for a reason.”

Not holding back, Ross concluded with the fact he “found that to be selfish and not professional. So, better they work for these guys [Young Bucks/Cody] and not for me.”

The main event of All In saw The Young Bucks and Kota Ibushi defeat Rey Mysterio, Bandido, and Rey Fenix in a six-man tag match, and has been widely reported as being cut short due to time constraints.

The Young Bucks were honest that this was a dream match for them, so it would be understandable for all six competitors to be left frustrated with their match being cut down so dramatically.

Bray Wyatt Makes Cryptic Tweet, Match Set For Next Week’s 205 Live

4

Bray Wyatt Makes Cryptic Tweet

RAW Superstar Bray Wyatt has been on the sidelines after his tag team partner, Matt Hardy, had to take some time off due to nagging injuries and learn the ways of being a producer for the company.

Wyatt was last seen on WWE television during the August 13th episode of Monday Night RAW when he and Hardy lost to Bo Dallas and Curtis Axel. Wyatt recently took to his official Twitter account where he shared a cryptic tweet, using the #ResurrectWyatt hashtag.

As of this writing, there’s no word yet on when WWE plans to bring him back to TV or the direction of his character now that Hardy is out of the picture for the time being. There have been rumblings of WWE making some changes to his character but that remains to been seen at this time.

Match Set For Next Week’s 205 Live

The first match for next week’s episode of 205 Live on the WWE Network in Lafayette, LA at the Cajundome. That match is Buddy Murphy vs. Gran Metalik. As seen on this week’s episode, Metalik defeated Tony Nese in a singles match. As of this writing, no other matches or segments have been announced for this show.

AJ Styles Reaches Milestone As WWE Champion

4

AJ Styles has closed in on a significant milestone as WWE Champion. The Phenomenal One has been champion for 300 days straight. Only eight other superstars have held the WWE Championship for 300 consecutive days: Bruno Sammartino, Bob Backlund, Pedro Morales, Hulk Hogan, Randy Savage, Kevin Nash, John Cena, and CM Punk.

The next milestone for Styles would be CM Punk’s 463 days as WWE Champion. If you recall, Styles began this title reign on the November 7, 2017 episode of SmackDown Live on the USA Network when he beat Jinder Mahal in Manchester, England. As of this writing, Styles has held the title for 302 days.

Of course, the man who was WWE Champion more days than anyone else in history is the late Bruno Sammartino, who held the title for a staggering 4,040 days (11+ years) during his illustrious career.

Barring any unforeseen circumstances, Styles will extend his streak to 31 consecutive WWE pay-per-view events this month. Styles is slated to make his next title defense against Samoa Joe at Hell in a Cell, which takes place on Sunday, September 16th from San Antonio, Texas at the AT&T Center. The show will stream live on the WWE Network and is available for purchase on select pay-per-view providers.

WWE announced earlier this week that AJ Styles will team with SmackDown Women’s Champion Charlotte on Mixed Match Challenge Season 2.

What are your thoughts on Styles’ reign as WWE Champion?

Young Bucks: It’s Been 20 Years Since Wrestlers Have Had The Leverage We Have

3

During the near 15 minute outro that closed All In, Cody emphatically stated he and his Elite cohorts would be “sticking together.”

The group has gone, as Cody declared, “from undesirable to undeniable.”

This makes the Young Bucks’ recent comments in an interview with Fightful.com all the more interesting, as Matt Jackson remarked that, “Contract season’s here, right? I think it’s been 20 years since there’s been wrestlers who have the leverage that we currently have.” He continued that they are both “[…] aware of that, we know the position that we have. Next year will be the year we get paid, no matter where we’re wrestling,”

With the WWE reportedly interested in getting them under contract, and ROH wanting to “aggressively” keep the team on their roster, it begs the question as to where the could end up.

The team currently work for both Ring of Honor and New Japan Pro Wrestling, where they’ve helped to revitalise not only themselves but the divisions they compete in.

Nick Jackson is more direct in how he looks at the situation, “I think everyone wants to sign us right now, which is a good problem to have. It shows that the interest is high. It’s great for us.”

No doubt, it will also be great for whatever company that ends up signing them.

Kenny Omega: “We’re Producing Stories For Fans That Want Something A Little Different”

2

Many fans are excited about the numerous alternative wrestling products currently available. With advances in streaming services, fans now have access to promotions from across the globe with diverse styles.

Kenny Omega believes that the success of All In proves there are wrestling fans hungry for an alternative to WWE. He spoke to Sports Illustrated recently.

“Fans, wrestlers, and even the general public have been conditioned to believe that there’s an enormous skill gap between WWE and everyone else,” Omega said. “A major league and a minor league. It’s either you’re there or you’re just not good enough.

“While it’s true their collection of talent is undeniable,” Omega continued. “A small group of us have bet on ourselves and on the unique alternative vision we have for pro wrestling. What they can offer in flash, we can offer in substance. While their writers produce TV for a certain demographic, we’re producing stories for fans that want something a little different.”

What’s Next For Bullet Club?

For many members of Bullet Club, there was little time to rest after All In. The Golden Lovers main event’ed an NJPW house show last night and will be back on New Japan World tonight/early tomorrow morning. The Firing Squad is also back on tour with New Japan now as well.

Omega’s next big match will be on September 15th when he defends his IWGP Heavyweight Championship against longtime rival, Tomohiro Ishii.

Karl Anderson Explains Why The Club Isn’t Helping AJ Styles Against Samoa Joe

1

Last night on Smackdown, Samoa Joe was fooled into thinking AJ Styles was at home protecting his wife Wendy. Joe had previously said he was going to visit the Styles family home this week. He then proceeded to cut a promo on Smackdown saying he wouldn’t do that as he’s not a monster.

What Joe had done, according to him, was cause Styles to actually be home with his family on a Tuesday night. Only Styles wasn’t at home. Styles was in Detroit and came out to confront Joe. This then begs the question what if Joe had gone to Styles’ home?

A fan on Twitter pointed out to Karl Anderson that perhaps Styles could use some help from his former Club partners on this one. Anderson explained to the fan why he and Gallows aren’t coming out to help Styles in his feud with Joe.

Is The Club Dead?

Earlier this summer, Anderson also indicated to a fan that the Club is finished in WWE.

Most recently, Anderson and Gallows lost a triple threat tag-team match two Smackdowns ago. The Bar won the match and will move on to face Rusev Day for a chance to take on New Day for the Smackdown Tag-Team Championships.

Chris Jericho Offers Batista An ‘Open Invitation’ To The Alpha Club

3

Chris Jericho took to Twitter recently, responding to a fan question regarding Batista joining Jericho’s Alpha Club in New Japan Pro Wrestling.  His answer is short, sweet, and intriguing:

Former WWE superstar, Dave Batista, has been making waves within the pop culture sphere in recent weeks since openly declaring his support for the recently fired director of Guardians of The Galaxy and GoTG Vol 2, James Gunn.

He appeared recently on the popular British chat show, The Jonathan Ross Show, which was covered on SEScoops here.

On the show, he spoke concisely on his feelings about the whole situation:

“It’s a bitter-sweet conversation — um, no it’s a bitter-bitter conversation because I’m not really happy with what they’ve done with James Gunn.”

“They’re putting the movie off,” he added. “It’s on hold indefinitely. To be honest with you I don’t know if I want to work for Disney.”

Following this, The Animal would go on to do an interview with WhatCulture Wrestling, promoting his new movie, Final Score. During the course of the interview, Batista had this to say regarding professional wrestling:

“I have to say that it’s something I think about daily. I miss it daily. I love it. I have a passion for wrestling. I feel that at the core of me that’s just who I am. I’m a physical performer, and I miss it every day.”

The possibility of an open schedule, coupled with Dave Batista’s longing for the ring, make for a tantalising possibility if it were to happen.

An open invite into the Alpha Club may be too good for the Animal to turn down.

205 Live 9/4 Results: Cedric Alexander vs TJP

1

205 Live last night took place inside Little Caesar’s Arena in Detroit Michigan. Three matches took place on the show and several challengers made a play to get a crack at Cedric Alexander’s Cruiserweight Championship.

205 Live 9/4 Results

Gran Metalik defeated Tony Nese

Metalik defeated Nese with an elbow off the top rope. A needed win for the Lucha House Party after Kalisto dropped last week’s main event to Nese’s training partner, Buddy Murphy.

The rest of the Lucha House Party members came out to celebrate after Metalik’s win.

Backstage:

  • Mustafa Ali and Drake Maverick had a talk in the back. Ali made fun of Maverick’s AOP gear from Monday night. Maverick told Ali he’s not ready to return from injury yet but Ali disagreed.

Noam Dar defeated Brian Kelly

Before this match could get started, Lio Rush’s music hit and he sauntered his way down to the ring area. Dar still won the squash match with little trouble. He finished him off with a running leg lariat.

Rush got up on the commentary booth after the match and clapped for Dar. The Scottish Supernova invited the 23-year-old piece of gold into the ring but Rush declined.

Cedric Alexander defeated TJP

Even though Cedric Alexander’s next title defense is scheduled to be against Buddy Murphy at Super Show-down on October 6th, he’s still got unfinished business with several on the roster.

Alexander attempted to call-out Gulak for his frequent attacks but TJP came out instead. TJP said he wasn’t very good at waiting in line. They agreed to a non-title match, which Alexander won via Lumbar-Check.

After the match, Drew Gulak finally came out to answer Alexander’s call-out. While Alexander was paying attention to him, however, Jack Gallagher attacked him from behind. Gulak locked in the Gu-Lock. Maverick came out and forced Gulak and Gallagher to leave the ring area as the show came to a close.

Titus O’Neil Collecting Boycotted Nike Shoes For Charity

6

There are some sports fans currently upset with shoe-manufacturer Nike right now. The brand announced a partnership with former San Fransico 49er Quarterback, Colin Kaepernick. Evidently, this has led to some Nike customers boycotting the company and getting rid of their current Nike products.

Titus O’Neil is able to get those Nike shoes and clothes to people who could use them. He’s asking anyone who no longer want their Nike products to donate them to him.

Titus O’Neil Charitable Work

O’Neil does a lot of charity work in the Tampa Bay area. He’s helped 245 student-athletes in the area get into college. Titus has also been involved in the United Way’s program to walk kids from high-risk areas to school every day. The program strives to make sure at-risk youth attend school and gain access to a healthy breakfast.

In 2015, he was given the MEGA Dad Award for “Celebrity Dad of the Year”.

Dana Brooke Gone From Titus Worldwide

Titus Worldwide lost a member this week. After she was distracted by her own teammates at ringside on Raw, Dana Brooke was rolled up and pinned by Sasha Banks.

Brooke has since decided it is time for her and Titus Worldwide to part ways. Following her loss on Raw, Brooke posted the following:

It looks as though Titus O’Neil and Apollo Crews are now on their own Monday nights.

Did WWE Officials Know About Chris Jericho’s All In Appearance?

4

While Chris Jericho was originally only expected to make one appearance for NJPW at their Wrestle Kingdom 12 event, things have escalated quickly.

After winning the IWGP Intercontinental Championship, Jericho is not only expected to make a few more appearances for the Japan-based promotion, but there are also talks of him possibly making his Impact debut in near future.

And if that’s not enough; the former World Champion surprised everyone by making an appearance at the All In event where he attacked Kenny Omega and set up the Alpha vs. Omega II for his upcoming cruise.

During the latest episode of his Pwinsider Elite Audio, Mike Johnson talked about Jericho’s All In appearance and speculated that the WWE officials were not aware of it.

According to him, as soon as Chris appeared on the screen, people from the company started messaging him, asking if it was really Y2J making an appearance at the show.

Continuing on the topic, Johnson speculated that since his NJPW appearance didn’t phase the company, Chris Jericho will try sometime else to see if it affects the Officials.

Though it’s worth mentioning here that Chris has talked about his relationship with Vince McMahon and how he will not risk it for anything in the past multiple times.

So it’s entirely possible that Jericho made McMahon aware of his plans but asked him to keep it secret from other officials, and only after seeing Vince’s reaction, he agreed to make an appearance at the indie event.

SmackDown Sees Poor Attendance, WWE To Tape New Year Episode Of Raw?

4

SmackDown Sees Poor Attendance

WWE has not only seen a decline in the Television viewership of their shows in the past year but the company has also been struggling to draw a live audience to their events.

In the last twelve months, both Raw and SmackDown have seen poor live audience a number of times, and it appears the same was the case for this week’s episode of the Blue Branded Show as well.

A fan in attendance posted the following photo of this week’s SmackDown Live, where the hard camera side is visibly empty and he noted that almost 40% of the seats in the arena were tarped off:

https://twitter.com/TDC1987/status/1037117160781504512

WWE To Tape New Year Episode Of Raw?

This year was the first time WWE decided to do Live shows for both the Christmas and New Year’s edition of Monday Night Raw and it was noted that a lot of stars were not happy with this arrangement.

Though it appears that the company will return to its regular schedule and at least tape the New Year edition of the Red Branded Show beforehand.

Little Caesars Arena recently made a tweet, inviting fans to attend a special edition of Raw on December 28th. This most likely is the date for the tapings of the December 31th edition of the show:

Odd Hell In A Cell Poster, Triple Threat Championship Match After SmackDown

3

WWE Releases Odd Hell In A Cell Poster

The Monster Among Men Braun Strowman is set to cash in his Money In The Bank contract against Roman Reigns at the upcoming Hell In A Cell PPV, and it was one of the first matches to be announced for the show.

However interestingly, WWE recently released a poster for the upcoming PPV featuring both these men in an odd manner and as seen below, the poster portrays both of them as demons:

39926945 263391274289912 1702677812416086016 n

No word yet on why the company chose to portray these two in such a bizarre way. Hell In A Cell will take place on September 16, 2018, at the AT&T Center in San Antonio, Texas.

Triple Threat Championship Match After SmackDown

It appears that there was only one dark match on this week’s episode of SmackDown Live and it saw the SmackDown Women’s Championship being defended after the Blue Branded Show and 205 Live went off air.

The match saw the SmackDown Women’s Champion Charlotte Flair defending her title against both Becky Lynch and Carmella in a triple threat dark main event.

Flair was able to retain her title in the match. It was noted that the former Champion Carmella spent most of the bout outside of the ring, eating popcorns.

2 New Matches Announced For Super Showdown

0

After announcing the Cruiserweight title bout for the Super Showdown last month, WWE has now revealed two new matches for the show, including one for the SmackDown tag team championship.

The first match which has been announced for the show is between the teams of Peyton Royce and Billie Kay, collectively known as The IIconics vs. Asuka and Naomi.

This bout was set up during the latest episode of SmackDown Live where IIconics unleashed a 2-on-1 attack on Naomi and making her return to the Blue Branded Show, Asuka made the save.

The second match which has been announced for the event will see the Bar Sheamus and Cesaro challenging the New Day for the trio’s SmackDown Tag Team Championships.

It’s worth mentioning here that The Bar won a triple threat match last week on SmackDown and they are set to face Rusev day next week in a #1 contender match for the SmackDown tag team titles.

So it wouldn’t be a surprise if the former Raw Tag Champs win this bout and end up challenging the New Day for the titles at the upcoming Hell In A Cell PPV as well.

After the announcement, here is the updated WWE Super Showdown match card:

Updated WWE Super Showdown match card

WWE Championship Match: Samoa Joe vs. AJ Styles

#1 Contenders Match: The Miz vs. Daniel Bryan

WWE Cruiserweight Championship Match: Buddy Murphy vs. Cedric Alexander

SmackDown Tag Team Championship Match: The Bar vs. The New Day

Triple H vs. The Undertaker

John Cena and Bobby Lashley vs. Elias and Kevin Owens

The Shield vs. Braun Strowman, Dolph Ziggler and Drew McIntyre

The Bella Twins and RAW Women’s Champion Ronda Rousey vs. The Riott Squad

Asuka and Naomi vs. Billie Kay and Peyton Royce

Ric Flair On Who Is The Greatest Babyface Of Pro Wrestling History

0

While many would choose stars like Hulk Hogan or Stone Cold Steve Austin as their top babyfaces in the history of pro wrestling, Ric Flair has a different approach.

The WWE Hall Of Famer, alongside his daughter and the SmackDown Women’s Champion Charlotte Flair was recently a guest on the WWE Network series Photo Shoot.

During the episode both the stars were shown a number of photos. While talking about the pictures, Ric went down the memory lane and discussed things like his angle with Randy Savage over Elizabeth and more.

Ric Flair On Who Is The Greatest Babyface Of All Time

When shown a picture of himself and Ricky Steamboat, Flair called Steamboat the greatest babyface of all time. He said that he doesn’t think anyone has had better matches in the history of pro wrestling than Ricky and him.

Recalling his WrestleMania 18 match with the Undertaker, the former World Champion claimed that he had confidence issues over wrestling at the age of 55 and revealed that the Dead Man helped him in restoring his confidence.

Apart from this, Ric Flair also called Dusty Rhodes the most creative mind in Pro Wrestling and Roddy Piper the greatest bad guy in the business.

The full episode of Photo Shoot can be seen at WWE network. You can check out a promo for it featuring both Ric and Charlotte in the video below:

6 Takeaways From WWE SmackDown (9/4)

6

The September 4th episode of WWE SmackDown aired live from the Little Caesars Arena in Detroit, MI. Here are 6 takeaways from the show:

Daniel Bryan Defeated Andrade “Cien” Almas

Bryan Almas SmackDown 9 4

Renee Young kicked off this week’s episode of SmackDown in the ring. She introduced Daniel Bryan and Brie Bella and they joined her for an interview. Footage of last week’s attack by The Miz & Maryse was shown and Renee asked for their reaction.

Bryan stated that they are here and ready for a fight. Brie then challenged The Miz and Maryse to come down to the ring and fight them right now. Renee Young told Bryan & Brie that The Miz and Maryse have already left the arena for the night. Andrade “Cien” Almas and Zelina Vega interrupted and Vega said that Bryan will once again face Almas tonight.

The match started out back and forth. Bryan quickly applied the Yes Lock but Almas made his way to the ropes to break up the hold. Almas went for a running knee but Bryan dove out of the way and Andrade tumbled to the floor outside.

Bryan tried to capitalize with a Crossbody of the ring apron but Almas countered with a Dropkick while Daniel was in midair. The action returned to the ring and Almas once again took control with a Moonsault for a near fall. Charlotte Flair and Becky Lynch were interviewed in separate locations tonight on WWE SmackDown. Flair started off the interviewing by saying that she knows Becky deserved the SmackDown Women’s Championship but she wasn’t just going to lay down for her at SummerSlam.

Becky started talking but Charlotte quickly interrupted and told her that if anyone knows what it is like to live in someone’s shadow, it is her. Flair said that Becky could have come to her and asked for a title match and Becky responded by saying “screw you”.

Becky boasted about standing above Charlotte last week and raising the SmackDown Women’s Championship. Charlotte said that Becky attacked her from behind and dared her to come at her face to face because it would be a different story. Lynch promised Charlotte that she will and added that she is done playing around.

Lynch said that from now on she is taking what she wants and doesn’t care how that affects Charlotte. Lynch claimed that it was a full-time job being Flair’s friend and managing her insecurities. Becky stated that the only thing she cares about now is taking her spot back at the top of the SmackDown women’s division where she belongs. Lynch then vowed that Charlotte will never see the SmackDown Women’s Championship after they face each other at WWE Hell in a Cell.

The Miz and Maryse returned to the arena after Bryan and Brie left. They pretended to be shocked that Bryan and Brie weren’t there and SmackDown GM Paige told The Miz that he had to find someone to compete against tonight or he would be fired. R-Truth was being his usual insane self throughout tonight’s SmackDown and was still searching for Carmella. He bumped into Maryse backstage and asked if she was Carmella. Maryse was offended that R-Truth mistook her for that “Staten Island trash”.

The Miz interrupted and wondered what the hell was going on. R-Truth was confused because he still thought Maryse was Carmella and The Miz responded by calling R-Truth a joke. Later on SmackDown, R-Truth finally found the real Carmella and told her that Maryse called her “Staten Island trash”. R-Truth called for a truce with Carmella and asked her to accompany him to the ring later tonight for his match against The Miz.

The Miz and R-Truth then battled in this week’s main event with Carmella and Maryse ringside for the match. R-Truth started off the match in control and connected with a Leg Drop for a near fall. The Miz battled back and planted R-Truth with a Neckbreaker for a two count.

Miz mocked Bryan’s Yes Kicks but R-Truth ducked under one and rolled up Miz for another two count. The Miz battled back and went for the Figure Four but once again R-Truth countered into a roll-up for a near fall. The Miz quickly took back control and was about to hit the Skull Crushing Finale when Daniel Bryan’s music hit. R-Truth capitalized on the distraction and rolled up The Miz for the pinfall victory.

After the match, Daniel Bryan and Brie Bella rushed down to the ring. Bryan attacked The Miz as Brie beatdown Maryse. Andrade “Cien” Almas and Zelina Vega then joined the party but wound up getting beaten down as well. Bryan and Brie locked in the Yes Lock on Almas and Vega as Miz & Maryse retreated up the entrance ramp. The Miz cowardly made his way towards the ring but retreated once Bryan turned his attention towards him. SmackDown went off the air with Bryan and Brie leading a “yes!” chant from the crowd.

Match Announced For Next Week’s WWE SmackDown Live

1

WWE has announced the first match for next week’s episode of SmackDown Live.

Rusev and Aiden English will take on The Bar as part of the mini-tournament to determine the new #1 contenders for the SmackDown Tag Team Titles.

As seen on this week’s episode of SmackDown Live in Detroit, MI at the Little Caesars Arena on the USA Network, Rusev Day beat The Usos and Sanity to advance while last week, The Bar (Sheamus & Cesaro) beat Luke Gallows & Karl Anderson and The Colons.

The winners of next week’s match will challenge The New Day for the SmackDown Tag Team Titles at the upcoming Hell in a Cell pay-per-view event that goes down on Sunday, September 16, 2018 in San Antonio, Texas at the AT&T Center and will air on the WWE Network.

WWE holds next week’s show in Lafayette, LA at the Cajundome. As of this writing, no other matches for SmackDown has been announced.

The New Day won the titles from The Bludgeon Brothers (Luke Harper & Erick Rowan) on an August episode of SmackDown Live in Brooklyn, NY. The reason for the title change is due to Rowan suffering an injury at SummerSlam and having to undergo surgery to fix it.

They exchange words and Charlotte says Becky has been blindsiding her, and she wants Becky to try coming after her face to face. Becky says she’s done asking and she’s starting taking. Joe gets on the mic and says that AJ isn’t here tonight, so that means the Styles family is taking his threats seriously.
