Indie Show Nearly Shut Down After Sami Callihan Match

7

There was a situation at the AAW show in the Chicago area at the Logan Square Auditorium over the weekend that had some drama. It all started once Jimmy Jacobs and Sami Callihan had a match together that at one point saw management step in and nearly shut down the show. PWinsider.com is reporting that Callihan ended up being tossed from the show.

It all started once the match took place and during it, Callihan decided to put Jacobs under a drum riser, which is part of the stage, then stacked hard plastic chairs on top of him. This is when one member of the building’s management got so upset to the point where the person got on the microphone to tell Callihan not to break the venue’s chairs. The two wrestlers ended the match with Callihan winning.

Following the match, Callihan was told to be removed from the venue and security asked him to leave. It was noted in the report that Callihan thought it was part of the angle which led to him shoving and cursing until one of the security guards told him they had a gun as well as threatened to shoot if he didn’t stop. As a result, Callihan was removed from the building.

Even though they had a break to allow the fans to cool off, the show continued on after the incident and was allowed to finish. It should be noted that there was one point where AAW as a whole was nearly thrown out of the venue because of the incident. The show continued because of the two sides coming to an agreement to keep things running for the fans.

After the show, Callihab took to his official Twitter account where he wrote the following, “Got into a fight with security tonight @AAWPro, and almost started a riot. Typical Friday night for #TheDRAW.”

What Happened After All In Went Off Air?

11

The pay-per-view feed for All In cut out shortly after the 3-count in the night’s main event. Live inside Sears Center Arena, however, an extended celebration took place.

Rey Mysterio, Bandido, and Fenix thanked the crowd as Kenny Omega and Cody came out to join them. The Massie family along with some of their small children also filled the ring as confetti drifted down from the ceiling.

Omega gave his standard “Goodnight and Goodbye speech” while Cody reiterated that WWE does no own pro-wrestling.

Cody, Kenny Omega, the Young Bucks, Marty Scurll and Hangman Page

The group reiterated that they will not be splitting up when their contracts come due in 2019. This likely means they will not be going to WWE next year as Scurll’s contract commits him to ROH past then.

What happens when Omega, Cody and the Bucks are all free agents in a few months should be interesting. Both WWE and Sinclair should have the money to keep the stable but its also possible multiple non-WWE promotions could work together to provide the team with a joint offer. What this new era of non-WWE promotions working together means should become more apparent during what is looking to become the hottest free agent period in wrestling since the Monday Night War era.

Next up for most of the crew will be NJPW’s Destruction tour. Omega’s next IWGP Heavyweight Championship match is on September 15th versus Tomohiro Ishii.

Chris Jericho Reveals Mad Dash Between All In and Fozzy Concert

3

Fans of Chris Jericho’s rock band, Fozzy, were likely surprised to see him appear at All In last night. The event happened to fall within a set of dates that the band had 4 straight shows to perform.

It is believed Jericho arrived at All In show shortly before it began. He then stayed hidden in the Young Bucks dressing room until it was time for him to appear. Jericho then left the building and hopped on a plane to get to a Fozzy show in Meriam, KS.

Following his attack on Omega, Jericho boarded a plane while still wearing Pentagon makeup in order to make it to Fozzy’s show later that night. Jericho is back on the road with Fozzy again tonight and has a show in Madison, WI.

Chris Jericho At All In

Jericho’s appearance at All in is significant for a few reasons. Although he didn’t wrestle a match, Jericho did contribute in a significant way on a non-WWE pro-wrestling show held in the United States. He had previously said he would not do as such but then more recently stated he had changed his mind on the matter.

After attacking Omega, Jericho challenged Omega to a match on his upcoming cruise at the end of October. On Twitter, Jericho said there are under 100 cabins left to be sold on his cruise and he is probably hoping the marquee matchup is what sells the boat out.

All In Main Event Cut Short, PPV Almost Went Off Air Before Finish

11

During the main event of last night’s All In pay-per-view, voices could be heard yelling “Go home!” as the wrestlers scrambled to ensure the match ended before the feed cut out.

The main event Trios match featuring the Golden Elite vs Rey Mysterio, Bandido, and Fenix had to be cut short. The match was supposed to go just under 30 minutes but ended up going less than half that time.

https://www.instagram.com/p/BnNeWZtADn6/?utm_source=ig_twitter_share&igshid=qzoo10p1ikfw

“The main event got cut from 28 to 12,” Bryan Alvarez said on Wrestling Observer radio. “I guess the Hangman Page match went long and the Marty Scurll match went long.”

All In Main Event Cut Short

As the match was on traditional pay-per-view in addition to streaming services, the show had a strict window within which to work. During the match, it was said they were hoping to get the finish in with 2 minutes to spare but in the end, the finish came with only seconds to go.

Alvarez and Meltzer lamented that had the 6 performers had the full 28 minutes to perform, it would have been a heck of a match.

“It’s too bad because there was an incredible amount of talent in that match,” Meltzer said. “They didn’t get a chance to show what they can do by any means.”

Chris Jericho Invades All In, Challenges Kenny Omega

4

Last night at All In, Kenny Omega defeated Pentagon Jr. in one of the night’s most high-profile matches. Omega barely escaped with the victory after Pentagon was able to hyper-extend his arm during the match.

As Omega celebrated in the ring after his win, however, the lights went out for a moment. When the lights turned back on nothing appeared out of place though. Moments later Pentagon would jump up to his feet and attack Omega. Fans began to notice the tattoos on Pentagon’s arm was different. When he delivered a Codebreaker to Omega, there was little doubt left as to who was attacking the IWGP Heavyweight Champion.

Jericho then challenged the beaten Omega to face him in the ring again but this time on the Jericho Cruise.

Chris Jericho vs Kenny Omega II

Chris Jericho’s Rock N Rager at Sea is set to sail from Miami to the Bahamas at the end of October. Jericho has said the only way to see the matches which will take place on the cruise is to book a cabin. There will be no footage of the matches, they are only for fans attending live.

In addition to Jericho vs Omega II, the Sea of Honor tournament will determine a new challenger for Jay Letha’s ROH World Championship. Jericho is also set to team with the Young Bucks to take on Cody, Marty Scurll, and Hangman Page. The Bucks will also take on LAX during the cruise.

Cody Wins NWA World Heavyweight Championship

8

Cody is the new NWA World Heavyweight Champion. He defeated Nick Aldis for the honor in front of a sell-out crowd in Chicago’s Sears Center Arena. In a match which felt like an old-school NWA title match, Cody pinned Aldis by reversing a sunset flip. Reminiscent of when NWA champions of yesteryear won the title, a period of silence preceded the official announcement and then the playing of Cody’s music.

Cody NWA World Heavyweight Champion

Cody is now the 54th person to win the NWA World Heavyweight Championship. He’s the 3rd to hold the belt since Billy Corgan took ownership of the promotion last October.

Dusty Rhodes is a former 3x NWA World Heavyweight Champion. He never held the title long, however, as his combined days spent with the title only equal 107 days. In comparison, Nick Aldis’ title reign ends at 266 days. Tim Storm held the title for 414 days.

This is Cody’s second World Championship. He held Ring of Honor’s World Championship for 175 days last year. He won the title from Christopher Daniels on June 23rd, 2017 but then lost it to Dalton Castle at Final Battle on December 15th, 2017.

“Let’s not stop. Let’s keep going,” Cody Tweeted not long after the event completed.

Sami Callihan On How Pro Wrestling Would’ve Been Affected If All In Failed

2

IMPACT Wrestling star Sami Callihan was recently interviewed by WrestleZone to talk about several professional wrestling topics. Of course, Callihan was asked about tonight’s All In pay-per-view (PPV). The event is a milestone for indy professional wrestling. Cody and The Young Bucks self-funded the event and were able to sell out the Sears Centre in Chicago.

Callihan praised the venture itself and is in awe of how many fans are coming out for a non-WrestleMania event. He noted that if All In failed, it would be terrible for the professional wrestling industry overall:

“This is a great venture, this is a great avenue, this kind of— I don’t even know what to say about this mass of people coming to a non-WrestleMania weekend event.

“If All In would’ve failed, this would’ve hurt not only independent wrestling but professional wrestling overall It would’ve proven that WWE has this monopoly.”

Callihan is currently working for a lot of top promotions, such as IMPACT Wrestling and Lucha Underground. The Lucha Underground Trios Champion said he likes to stay busy:

“I worked New Japan Pro Wrestling earlier this year. I like the money. You have to work while you’re hot. Complacency is dead for me.”

Okada quickly climbed to the top rope and hit another Dropkick but Marty kicked out at the last moment. Scurll countered the Tombstone into a DDT. Okada then planted Marty with the Tombstone and set up for the Rainmaker but Scurll bent Okada’s finger back and locked in the Chickenwing submission. Okada broke the hold but Marty shoved him into the referee.

Okada went for the Rainmaker but Marty opened up an umbrella to block it. Scurll then hit a Rainmaker of his own and went for the cover but Okada kicked out at two. Okada then hit the Rainmaker and both men fell to the canvas as the crowd chanted “this is awesome!”.

Okada hit a couple forearms to Marty’s face but Scurll kept coming back after each shot. Scurll then spat in Okada’s face and followed it up with a slap. Okada then delivered two Rainmakers in a row for the pinfall victory.

Winner: Kazuchika Okada

Rey Mysterio, Bandido, and Fenix vs. The Young Bucks and Kota Ibushi

Matt Jackson and Bandido started off the match. Bandido balanced on his head and then planted Matt with a Hurricanrana. Bandido then flipped onto Matt as Nick tagged himself in. The Young Bucks connected with dueling Dropkicks onto Bandido as Fenix tagged in and walked into a boot from Nick.

Fenix hit a Cutter for a two count and then Kota Ibushi and Rey Mysterio tagged in. The crowd immediately started chanting “holy sh*t!” as the two circled each other. Mysterio hit a Hurricanrana but Ibushi popped right back up. Ibushi delivered a kick to Rey’s ribs that knocked him to the canvas.

Matt tagged in and Mysterio greeted him with a DDT. Fenix tagged in and hit Matt with a Superkick. “We gotta go home” could be heard over the broadcast as Ibushi and Bandido tagged in. Bandido missed with a standing Moonsault and then Ibushi connected with one of his own. Ibushi took out Fenix and Bandido with a kick to the head and Nick Jackson tagged in.

Nick connected with a flurry of kicks and then a Bulldog Clothesline combo on Bandido and Fenix. Mysterio then hit a springboard Moonsault onto Nick, Matt and Ibushi. Fenix then launched himself onto them and Bandido followed with another flip. Bandido and Nick Jackson battled to the ramp and Matt Jackson hit a massive Cannonball off the ramp.

The Young Bucks Powerbombed Bandido into the turnbuckle and then Kota tagged in. Kota hit a German Suplex for a two count. Bandido hit a triple Hurricanrana that took out everyone and tagged in Rey. Mysterio launched Matt into Nick on the apron and Nick fell to the floor. Rey went for the 619 but Matt caught him. Fenix walked across the top rope and booted Kota to the floor. Bandido took out Nick with a Hurricanrana off the apron. Fenix hit Matt with a Superkick and Rey followed it up with a 619. Bandido and Fenix then flipped onto Kota and Nick outside the ring.

Rey Mysterio connected with a Frog Splash onto Matt and went for the cover but Matt kicked out at two. Fenix and Rey perched Matt up on the turnbuckle but Matt shoved them away. Bandido booted Matt in the face and both men battled on the top rope. Bandido hit an absurd Blockbuster and went for the cover but Nick broke it up at two.

Nick went for a Clothesline but Bandido dodged it. Nick and Matt then Superkicked everyone and isolated Bandido in the ring. Kota, Nick and Matt then hit two Splashes and then a 450 Splash for a two count. The Young Bucks then hit Bandido with a Meltzer Driver for the pinfall victory.

Big Cass Changes Indy Name Again

10

Big Cass has changed his name for the indies yet again. Cass was released from his WWE contract back in June. His 90-day non-compete clause expires later this month. Cass’ first independent appearance is set for Friday, September 21st for Big Time Wrestling.

The show goes down from the Spartanburg Memorial Auditorium in Spartanburg, South Carolina. Initially, Cass was being advertised under the name “Big Cazz.” Now, however, that name seems to have changed. An updated poster for the event lists Cass as “Big C” and he will be taking on James Storm. Other names being advertised for the show include Emma (Tenille Dashwood), “Hacksaw” Jim Duggan, Meng, The Barbarian, Tommy Dreamer, James Ellsworth and WWE Hall of Famer Mick Foley.

Cass In WWE

Big Cass bursted onto the WWE scene alongside Enzo Amore in NXT. They quickly became a fan favorite team before being called up to the WWE’s main roster on RAW. After several failed attempts to win the RAW Tag Team Titles, Cass betrayed Amore and broke up the team.

A rivalry between the pair ensued, but unfortunately for Cass he suffered a torn ACL during one of their matches that sidelined him for several months. Upon his return shortly after WrestleMania 34, Cass began a feud with Daniel Bryan.

He had two pay-per-view (PPV) matches with Bryan, who enjoyed working with the seven-footer, both of which he lost. Cass was subsequently released from WWE citing behavioral issues and directly disobeying orders from Vince McMahon.

Lana On Who She Wants To Face At Evolution

6

WWE Superstar Lana was recently interviewed by Newsweek to talk about her professional wrestling career.

“The Ravishing Russian” first revealed the roughest bump she has taken thus far in her career inside the ring. She named a few shots she has recently taken from Zelina Vega as being in particularly uncomfortable:

“When you’re out there doing things, your adrenaline is rushing so much. But getting kicked in the face is never fun.

“There have been a lot of different painful things, but when you’re kicked in the face or kneed in the face, it’s not the most pleasant thing.

“Zelina used the codebreaker knee on me and I started bleeding. I thought I broke my nose or busted my teeth. Then she kneed me to the face again.

“It was definitely not by any means pleasant, and I’m really glad when I came backstage that I was alive still. It’s a contact sport, it’s very physical and intense. When you walk out there, you have to know anything can happen and to keep your hands up.”

Advice From A Veteran

Lana then revealed what Natalya told her before her match at WrestleMania 32. Team Total Divas (Alicia Fox, Brie Bella, Eva Marie, Natalya and Paige) took on Team B.A.D. and Blonde (Emma, Lana, Naomi, Summer Rae and Tamina):

“Oh my gosh, I was so nervous at WrestleMania when I debuted. I never had a live match ever. I’d had practice matches, but a practice match in front of no one is very different from a real match.

“Nattie gave me this pep talk, saying ‘you can’t not be inspired. This is the highest stake thing you’re ever going to have, and you’re going to sink or swim. So you better go out there and prove everyone who doubted you wrong.’

“All of a sudden, you’re like ‘I’m motivated!’ And once you walk out there you realize, ‘I’m born for this, there is nothing in the world like this.'”

Lana’s Dream Opponent For Evolution

With WWE’s first-ever all-female Evolution PPV coming up, Lana was asked who she’d like to face on the card. Interestingly, Lana named Stephanie McMahon as her dream opponent:

“There are so many women on the current roster who are just incredible competitors, and I’d love to fight them. But then there are so many women from the past I would love to fight.

“I mean, who doesn’t want to get in the ring with Trish or Lita or Molly Holly? Trish was my inspiration for so long. But I’ve always been a huge fan of Stephanie McMahon. Growing up, I wanted to be in WWE because of watching characters like Stephanie McMahon and Paul Heyman.

“They just are such incredible storytellers, such incredible, compelling characters. When I look at Stephanie McMahon’s entire career, I’m always blown away at how she just moves your soul.

“Literally, my heart is moved by her. Either I hate her, or love her, or love to hate her. I probably won’t face off with her at Evolution, but just in general she is one of my dream opponents.”

Batista Opens Up On Possible WWE Return

28

Former WWE star Dave Bautista recently made an appearance on Good Morning Britain to promote his new film, “Final Score”.

“The Animal” touched on his professional wrestling career during their conversation. Batista divulged that starting in the business was difficult, and he shocked his family with the career switch.

In regards to a possible WWE return, Batista admitted that it’s always an ongoing conversation with him and WWE. He never burnt that bridge intentionally because he never had a reason to. Batista declared that he loves professional wrestling and he loves WWE.

He then revealed that WWE actually contacted him about possibly being Ronda Rousey’s partner for WrestleMania 34. That never worked out, however, as the role was given to Kurt Angle instead.

As for what he’d like to do in a potential WWE return, Batista wants a year-long feud with Triple H. The rivalry would conclude with a match at WrestleMania. WWE has yet to take the former World Champion up on the offer.

In fact, he said they’re making it difficult to work something out as they ignored his follow ups.

Discussion: Do you want to see Batista back in WWE? If so, in what capacity? Sound off in the comments below!

The Young Bucks Say NJPW Is The New Destination For Wrestlers

5

IWGP Tag Team Champions The Young Bucks (Nick and Matt Jackson) recently spoke to New Japan Pro Wrestling (NJPW) for an interview.

The Bucks talked about former WWE stars who have worked for NJPW, moving up to the heavyweight tag team division, and every NJPW title (except the NEVER Openweight Title) being held by a foreign wrestler. Check out the highlights from The Bucks’ interview with NJPW here:

Former WWE stars working for NJPW:

Nick Jackson:

“I think it’s great. It shows you how big of company New Japan is. And it shows you that even from up bigger company like WWE, those superstars want to compete here because they know deep down in their head that this is where the best wrestling is.”

Matt Jackson:

“New Japan is the destination now. Everybody wants to come here because NJPW has the best wrestlers.”

Moving up to the Heavyweight Tag Team division:

Matt Jackson:

“Now we don’t have to just wrestle the junior tag teams, who we’ve wrestled many years. So now, we wrestled bigger guys, different guys, different styles.”

Nick Jackson:

“Different matches now. We won the junior titles 7 times, so it was time for us to move on.”

Matt Jackson:

“Let’s us change our styles.”

All NJPW titles currently being held by foreigners (except for the NEVER Openweight belt):

Nick Jackson:

“I think it’s crazy. It shows you how much talent there is worldwide. Every nationality has good wrestlers everywhere. New Japan is all about expanding and I feel like it’s good because it shows how many different wrestlers are around the world.”

Matt Jackson:

“I think pro wrestling is the healthiest stage right now. I think the wrestling economy is booming. Wrestling is cool again because of the vast majority of wrestlers in styles, characters, and talent.”

Cody Reveals How He Thinks Dusty Rhodes Would’ve Felt About All In

1

Ring Of Honor (ROH) and New Japan Pro Wrestling (NJPW) star Cody was recently a guest on Busted Open Radio to promote tonight’s All In pay-per-view (PPV) event.

Cody and The Young Bucks’ self-funded event sold out the Sears Centre in Chicago, Illinois in just a few minutes. All In weekend has been a huge success thus far, and it all culminates tonight for the big show.

During the interview, WWE Hall Of Famer Bully Ray asked Cody – if all goes according to plan – could All In surpass any one show Dusty Rhodes ever created:

“I don’t think I can speculate. Because, it’s mine, you know? It’s me, Matt [Jackson], Nick [Jackson], it’s the Being the Elite guys. It’s all of yours, you know? It is by wrestlers, for wrestlers.

“It’s by fans, for fans. If you look at this convention and you look at the show, I care more about whether Dusty would have a good time at All In than whether I win this match, if that makes any sense.”

Cody Reveals How “The Dream” Would’ve Liked All In

In regards to Dusty Rhodes, Cody believes that his father would’ve been “stoked” for All In. For example, he shared an interesting story about how Dusty first perceived ECW:

“The first time he tuned in to ECW, this is a good example, I thought like, oh, he’s gonna hate it. Look at what’s happening, there’s all kinds of sex and violence.

“He was so entertained, and I remember sitting in front of him with my little Hasboro figures and watch the shows, every pay-per-view.

“So he had this forward-thinking knowledge that I think all of the great minds in pro wrestling have. So, I think if he saw this, he’d have a few touches for sure, but I think he’d be pretty stoked about it. I hope he would.”

DDP On What Cody Shared With Him After Dusty Rhodes’ Passing

0

WWE Hall Of Famer Diamond Dallas Page was recently interviewed by Wrestling Inc. to talk about several professional wrestling topics.

During the conversation, Page opened up about his relationship with the Rhodes family. In particular, “DDP” talked about how long he has known Ring Of Honor (ROH) and New Japan Pro Wrestling (NJPW) star Cody Rhodes:

“I’ve known Cody since he was ten. Without Dusty Rhodes there is no Diamond Dallas Page, he took me under his wing and believed in me when nobody did, nobody. …

“Back then, I used to always call [Cody], ‘young buck.’ I’ve never really told this story until this week, because I’ve been saving it, because of the Young Bucks and how amazing they are.”

Advice For A “Young Buck”

Page then shared some advice he once gave to a young Cody Rhodes, who he used to call “young buck”:

“I went, ‘Woah, well, slow down young buck. I think I was a three-time world champion at one time.’ He was like ‘No! Come on, man!’ and I was just busting his chops.

“I said, ‘Listen, young buck, the deal is you’ve got to keep your feet on the ground because you got a whole big sign on your back. You got a big bulls-eye on that and you gotta keep your feet on the ground, but keep reaching for the stars, bro.”

Finally, Page shared the emotional message that Cody gave him shortly after the passing of Dusty Rhodes:

“When he passed, Cody had called me and he said, ‘Listen man, you know Dusty would always say he has five friends and I just want you to know right before he passed, he told me that again.’

“He said some guys were off and on the list, but Dallas was always on that list. And for him to tell me that – even though I had heard that from Dream – it was super special.”

Paul Heyman Calls Out NFL Team For “Stealing” Catchphrase

9

Paul Heyman is not a happy man.

The longtime WWE personality is recognized as one of the greatest professional wrestling minds in history. With that being said, it’s no surprise he struck gold when he innovated Brock Lesnar’s “Eat, Sleep, Conquer, Repeat” mantra.

It took off so much that Lesnar even has merchandise that sports the exact phrase. Now, one NFL team has decided to “borrow” the phrase. The Tampa Bay Buccaneers have released a new shirt that says “Eat, Sleep, Bucs, Repeat.”

Heyman took notice of this and immediately called out the NFL franchise on social media. He noted that after five years of saying the phrase on TV, major companies and teams are still “borrowing” it.

He said the use of the mantra is “blatantly stealing” and demanded royalties from the Tampa Bay Bucs:

“It’s nice to know that almost 5 years since I said as the mantra for on , major companies and teams like the are still “borrowing” (blatantly stealing) the catchphrase. Send us our royalties, please!”

Discussion: What do you make of Heyman’s grievance with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers? Let us know your thoughts on the matter in the comments section below!

Tama Tonga Says He’s Turned Down WWE Twice, Comments On All In

1

According to Tama Tonga, WWE has tried to recruit him on multiple occasions but he’s not interested. Tona was interviewed today in Chicago where he is present with other members of the Firing Squad for Starrcast weekend.

“I’m the only one who stayed loyal to that company,” Tama Tonga said during an interview with WhatCulture. “Even when WWE came to me not once but f*****g twice!”

Tonga has come under fire for his usage of social media recently. The multi-time IWGP Heavyweight Tag-Team Champion was banned by Twitter for a 12-hour period earlier this summer. NJPW President, Harold Meij, also made public statements about wrestlers being more careful on social media after Tonga’s incident.

“It’s a different time for wrestling,” Tonga said. “Everything’s changing. Start off with Starrcast and start off with All In. It’s changing, the business is changing. Wrestlers and fan interaction is changing because of social media, it’s causing us to be more ‘friends’.”

Tama Tonga On All In

While Tama Tonga and his Firing Squad allies are not booked for All In, they’ve made a point of letting people know they are in Chicago. Bullet Club’s Firing Squad might be in a feud with the Elite at the moment but that doesn’t mean Tonga isn’t impressed and respectful of what they have accomplished with All In.

“It’s very historic,” Tonga said regarding All In. “This is the biggest thing you’ve seen outside WWE and New Japan in a long time.”

Scott Hall Recalls Funny Ultimate Warrior Story at Starrcast

0

Former WWE Intercontinental Champion and Hall of Famer Scott Hall appeared as part of Starrcast earlier today. The ‘Bad Guy’ joined nWo members Sean Waltman/X-Pac and Kevin Nash as part of the ‘1-2-360’ degrees panel.

Hall made some interesting points regarding his original WWE contract and how he ‘jumped ship’ to WCW. Hall joking remarked that “I got all the heat” when he and Kevin Nash left for the rival promotion, this led to the revelation that Hall “didn’t get a royalty [cheque] from WWE for 15 years.”

The Bad Guy followed up this revelation with a humorous story involving the Ultimate Warrior. Warrior is another star that left WWE on extremely bad terms in the mid 90’s and was also brought back into the fold in 2014. Warrior reportedly held Vince McMahon up for money before the Summerslam 1991 PPV event.

Hall had a conversation with Warrior at the 2014 Hall of Fame where he told Warrior “it feels great to be back, I didn’t get a cheque for 15 years.” Warrior looked at Hall and simply replied “EIGHTEEN.”

Naomichi Marufuji: Hideo Itami Will Not Give Up

0

Naomichi Marufuji celebrated his 20th anniversary in wrestling today. A special anniversary show was held today and Marufuji wrestled his former partner KENTA, also known as Hideo Itami.

Before the match, Marufuji admitted he felt some jealousy in 2014 when Itami left for WWE.

“(Itami) and I are on different paths,” Marufuji said to Japanese media recently. “I did feel some jealousy when he went to America because I had decided that I had to do it ‘here.’ I don’t want it to be lost in the meaning of his going to America, I have been thinking about that. Because of the excitement, I want to show content that matches it, and above all the ‘results.'”

Marufuji would continue to speak on his former partner and rival. “He will not give up, and I want to take advantage of my ability to win,” Marufuji continued. “I think he is thinking many things, especially about the reaction of the fans when he was displayed on the monitor at Korakuen. I think that was the most and best ‘real.’ I want him to have an explosion like that at the venue. Everyone had hoped for him, and that was the proof.”

Earlier this year, it was revealed WWE was allowing the cruiserweight to perform on the show.

Naomichi Marufuji and Hideo Itami

In 2003, both Tokyo Sports and the Wrestling Observer Newsletter named KENTA and Naomichi Marufuji as the top tag-team in the world. The Wrestling Observer would give them the honor in 2004 as well. In 2006, Tokyo Sports would award them the “Match of the Year” for a match they had against each other.

By 2014, each had established themselves as a top guy in Pro Wrestling NOAH. KENTA was looking to do something else with his career, however. He signed with WWE, reported to the Performance Center, and adopted the name of Hideo Itami.

Daniel Bryan Comments on ALL IN

3

Cody and The Young Bucks’ vision of an independent PPV show is now less than a few hours away from fruition. The initial success of All In before the gates have even opened show how thriving the independent scene currently is. At the very least it shows how successful and influential the Bullet Club members actually are in 2018.

Former WWE World Champion and sure-fire Hall of Famer Daniel Bryan has taken to Twitter to congratulate Cody and The Bucks on their success. The Smackdown Live star tweeted “What Cody Rhodes, Matt and Nick Jackson have done to create a groundswell in the wrestling community is both incredible and inspiring. Not only is it great for fans but also for wrestlers and the industry as a whole. Congratulations on what will be an amazing event.

Here’s the full card for the historic event:

Hogan Says Omega’s Story “Is Not Complete” If He Doesn’t Go To WWE

4

Recently reinstated WWE Hall Of Famer Hulk Hogan spoke with Sports Illustrated’s Extra Mustard section for an article focusing on Kenny Omega.

During the interview, “The Hulkster” spoke at length about this year’s PWI Top 500 number one wrestler, giving his take on why Omega’s story won’t be “complete” if he doesn’t eventually make the transition to WWE.

“Would I love to see him go to the WWE? Yes,” said Hogan. “Would I love to see him be used correctly? Yes.”

The pro wrestling legend would go on to elaborate, talking specifically about how Omega could be the guy that Vince McMahon signs to take WWE to another level once again.

“If he ever got lost in the mix, it would be a sad, sad story,” said Hogan. “But if there is a chance to sign him, Vince McMahon could be the guy to take him to the next level. If you don’t touch on the WWE, your story is not complete.”

Hogan continued, “But rules are made to be broken, and Kenny is such a big star that he could be the one to change all that. Kenny is such a big star that he doesn’t need to sign in New York, but it would complete the story if he went and dominated and had a hell of a run in WWE.”

John Cena Debuts ‘Lightning Fist’ Finishing Move (Video)

20

John Cena may only be a part-time Superstar these days but he’s still adding moves to his repertoire. Cena was in Shanghai for WWE’s live event today and debuted a new finishing move which many are comparing to the anime character “One Punch Man”. Cena has named the move “Lightning Fist.”

John Cena’s 6th Move Of Doom

For years, fans have joked about Cena’s “5 Moves of Doom”. Leading up to the live event in China, however, Cena let fans know he was about to debut the 6th move of doom.

“I couldn’t think of a better way to show my appreciation for China, Chinese people and Chinese culture,” he said, “than to debut what I think is a finishing move that will provide me much victory than Shanghai on Sept. 1.”

John Cena has a significant match upcoming in Australia next month. He will team with Bobby Lashley at Super Show-Down and take on Elias and Kevin Owens. Although this match is now somewhat up in the air as Kevin Owens recently quit WWE on Monday night.

Cena hasn’t wrestled on WWE programming since the Greatest Royal Rumble earlier this spring.

Marty Scurll Trashes WWE Cruiserweight Title At Starrcast

2

Marty Scurll will take on Kazuchika Okada tonight at All In. Many have commented that Scurll is simply too small to take on a heavyweight such as Okada. Even Okada himself has joked that once he defeats Scurll he will send the Villian to 205 Live.

At yesterday’s Starrcast, however, a fan presented Scurll with a replica of the title belt those on 205 Live chase after. Scurll had the fan toss it in the trash.

Marty Scurll All In

Marty Scurll is one of the only members of the Ring of Honor roster signed on passed next year’s G1 Supercard from Madison Square Garden. Others on the roster have their contracts up at the end of the calendar year after Final Battle.

NWA World Heavyweight Champion, Nick Aldis, recently told media he tried to get Dixie Carter to sign his friend as well as the Young Bucks but was unsuccessful to this end. Aldis had the following to say on his efforts to get TNA to sign Scurll:

“Marty had several non-started gimmicks, but they are all him and are manifesting every part of his personality, but as soon as The Villain thing hit, I’ve been with him every step of the way towards the fun and I am not taking any credit whatsoever, he is one of my best friends, but he is someone that I told TNA multiple times to sign him.”
