Shinsuke Nakamura Talks Desire To Wrestle Daniel Bryan, Being Comfortable As Heel

2

Shinsuke Nakamura is in the middle of his first heel turn under the WWE banner.

The former WWE Title contender recently spoke with Asbury Park Press to promote his appearance at iPlay America in Freehold on July 7. In this interview, he was asked about his transition from babyface to heel, which started during his program with WWE Champion AJ Styles in May.

Nakamura noted that he is feeling better than before due to the fact that his character came from the heel stuff as he played a heel while he was in Japan. He pointed out that all of his created moves were when he was a heel and that when he uses the stomp to the face and then the vibration, it’s him teasing his opponent.

“So now also a lot of people (are) asking me, ‘So how do you act in the ring like crazy?’ but I think I don’t act, I just adjust. A human being has a lot of sides, like a kind of diversity, so it’s like a good side, a bad side, a crazy side, a normal side, like a man-ish side, a woman-ish side. I just pick, I adjust.”

You can add Nakamura’s name to the long list of WWE stars who want to wrestle former WWE World Heavyweight Champion Daniel Bryan following the news a few months ago that he had been cleared to compete in a WWE ring once again.

Nakamura mentioned that wanting to wrestle Bryan was one of the reasons he decided to sign with the sports entertainment company.

“But now, I’ve got like a high possibility to wrestle with Daniel at like the biggest stage in wrestling history. So I’m so excited.”

Bray Wyatt Comments On Head-On Car Accident

1

Bray Wyatt has made his first comments since being involved in a head-on car accident.

We noted earlier on the site that WWE announced through a statement on their official website on Monday afternoon that the RAW Tag Team Champion was in a car accident last Friday. As a result, he has sustained multiple injuries.

It was noted that Wyatt was traveling to the airport for this past weekend’s live events when he was in a head-on collision that left his car totaled.

Wyatt told TMZ that he smashed into another vehicle when riding to the airport. He noted that he was in good spirits and was moving around. The former WWE Champion added that “I’m gonna live through it because I can’t die.”

Wyatt is slated to team up with Matt Hardy to defense the RAW Tag Team Titles against Bo Dallas and Curtis Axel at the upcoming Extreme Rules pay-per-view event Sunday, July 15, 2018 in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania at the PPG Paints Arena on the WWE Network.

DeAngelo Williams To Make His Impact Wrestling Return

1

Retired NFL running back DeAngelo Williams is making a return to Impact Wrestling.

Impact Wrestling made the news official after TMZ Sports ran a story about it. He will appear on the July 12th episode of Impact Wrestling on Pop TV in Windsor, Ontario, Canada.

As of this writing, the promotion didn’t elaborate on the plans for Williams when he arrives. They did tease that DeAngelo had been training extensively with Moose as he gets ready for his upcoming World Title match against Austin Aries in the main event of the upcoming Slammiversary pay-per-view event.

This show is slated to take place on Sunday, July 22, 2018 from the Rebel Entertainment Complex in Toronto, Canada.

If you recall, Williams teamed with Moose to defeat Chris Adonis and Eli Drake at Slammiversary XV in July 2017.

Ruby Riott Suffers Injury At WWE Live Event

4

WWE has announced that Ruby Riott is injured.

On Monday evening, the sports entertainment company made it public that Riott suffered a knee injury while working a WWE live event over the weekend.

As of this writing, there are not a ton of details on how she suffered the injury or how bad it is. WWE.com did note that she was scheduled for an MRI today (July 2nd).

It should be noted that she last competed in a WWE ring back on June 29 in Rapid City, North Dakota at a live event when she worked with Dana Brooke. We wish Riott a speedy recovery.

The July 2nd, 2018 edition of WWE RAW aired live from the Denny Sanford Premier Center in Sioux Falls, SD.

– This week’s broadcast opens up with a video package recapping the history between Bobby Lashley and Roman Reigns.

– Michael Cole welcomes us to the arena, and Roman Reigns comes out to kick off the show. Reigns steps in the ring and gets on the mic, and complains about losing to The Revival last week. He blames the loss on having the worst tag partner ever – Bobby Lashley, and he wants to fight Lashley right here and now. Dolph Ziggler and Drew McIntyre come out to interrupt. Ziggler takes issue with Reigns acting like he owns the place, and trying to make everything about him. Ziggler and McIntyre step into the ring and stand across from Reigns. Drew says since he stuck his nose in their business last week, they’re going to return the favor now. Ziggler and McIntyre beat down Reigns until Seth Rollins runs out for the save. Rollins fights off Ziggler and McIntyre and helps Reigns up to his feet in the ring. Drew and Dolph retreat up the ramp as we go to commercial.

– Reigns and Rollins approach RAW GM Kurt Angle backstage. Rollins says enough is enough, and they want Drew and Dolph. Kurt tells them it has to be next week, because Reigns and Lashley have a rematch against The Revival later. – Still to come: Roman Reigns & Bobby Lashley vs. The Revival; plus Bayley and Sasha Banks “go to counseling.”

Lashley says he’d rather fights Reigns than team up with him, but they have to coexist tonight. Reigns says he’s going to start, finish and win the match tonight, and Lashley can just stand on the apron with his fake smile. Lashley tells Reigns if he messes it up he’s going to hold him responsible, and that’s a threat.

– We see a video package looking at the issues between Bayley and Sasha Banks, and Kurt Angle ordering Bayley to go counseling. Michael Cole introduces footage of their first counseling session, and we go to a pre-taped segment in a doctor’s office setting. Bayley is sitting in the waiting room when Sasha walks in and immediately starts arguing with Bayley. The doctor, Dr. Shelby, walks in and asks them to follow him into his office – which he likes to call the friend zone. The counselor starts advising Bayley and Sasha about friendship. We go back to the arena and Titus Worldwide is on their way out to the ring.

Titus & Apollo vs. The Authors of Pain: The Authors start off strong with frequent tags and Rezar hits a version of The Dominator on Apollo. Rezar beats him down in the corner and tosses him down for a pin attempt. Titus runs in but The Authors send him into the ring post and then outside. Ziggler starts to fire up but Rollins dropkicks him down. Drew tags in and locks up with Rollins, then he takes Rollins down to the mat. Reigns tags in and goes at it with Drew now. Drew backs Reigns into the corner and pummels on him. Reigns turns the tide and hits a series of right hands on Drew in the corner. Reigns hits an uppercut, but then he gets distracted by Dolph, which leads to Drew clotheslining Reigns down. Lashley is shown backstage watching on a monitor. Ziggler tags in and continues beating on Reigns. Drew tags back in and chops Reigns in the corner and then hits a neckbreaker for a two count. Ziggler tags back in and pummels on Reigns in the corner. Ziggler charges but Reigns catches him with an uppercut. Rollins gets the hot tag and hits a springboard flying clothesline on Ziggler. He follows up with the Slide Blade on Ziggler, then he kicks Drew off the apron. Rollins follows up with a suicide dive on Drew, while Reigns boots Ziggler. Back in teh ring, Rollins goes up top and hits the frogsplash for a two count. Ziggler looks for a superkick on Rollins, but Rollins blocks it and slingshots Ziggler out to ringside. Ziggler follows up with the Fameasser for a two count. Drew tags in and continues the offense on Rollins. Rollins looks to tag in Reigns, but Drew pulls Reigns off the apron. Drew and Dolph continue beating on Rollins in the ring. Rollins comes back with a superkick on Drew and he looks for the tag, but Ziggler interrupts. Rollins powerbombs Ziggler into the corner and he looks to tag in Reigns, but The Revival comes out and beats down Reigns. The ref calls for the DQ and this one turns into a beat down of Reigns and Rollins at ringside.

Winners via DQ: Seth Rollins and Roman Reigns

– The beat-down on Reigns and Rollins continues after the match. Drew and Dolph take Rollins in the ring and double team him. The Revival then takes Reigns in the ring and continues beating him down, and they hit the Shatter Machine.

– Still to come: Roman Reigns & Bobby Lashley vs. The Revival

– We see footage from last week of Kevin Owens run-in with Braun Strowman behind the arena in the parking lot.

– Kurt Angle is backstage when Kevin Owens walks in his office and begs him to do something about Braun Strowman. Kurt says it sounds like Owens wants to settle things in the ring, but Owens says no, and says Strowman should be suspended, fired, or sent to therapy. Kurt says there’s only one way to settle this: Kevin Owens will be facing Strowman tonight.

– We see more footage from the counseling session with Sasha and Bayley, but we can’t hear what’s being said.

– Baron Corbin comes down to the ring, and he’s got a mic. Corbin cuts a promo on Finn Balor and shows footage of what happened between them last week. He calls out Balor, and Balor down to the ring. Corbin wants Balor to apologize, and Balor sarcastically apologizes and makes fun of Corbin’s clothes. Corbin gets mad and calls Balor a little twerp, and demands that Balor apologizes. Balor calls Corbin Stephanie’s stooge, and Corbin decks him with a right hand. Balor fights back and knocks Corbin outside. Corbin recovers and heads up the ramp as Balor stares him down from the ring.

– Elias is backstage warming up when Liv Morgan and Sarah Logan walk up to him and ask if he’s performing. He says not for the fans, but he will for them, and he starts playing and Liv and Sarah start destroying things backstage.

Ember Moon vs. Liv Morgan: Sarah Logan is at ringside for this one. The opening bell sounds and Ember starts off strong, and she trips Liv down for a pin attempt. Liv starts to come back but Ember springboards off the middle rope for a cross body and another pin attempt. Liv mounts a comeback after connecting with an enziguri. She works on keeping Ember grounded, but she starts wasting time talking trash, and Ember drops her. Ember follows up with the Eclipse for the three count.

Winner: Ember Moon

– We go back to Sasha and Bayley’s counseling session, where the doctor is getting frustrated. Sasha and Bayley mock each other, and then they start arguing. The doctor gets mad and yells, and the segment ends with “to be continued…”

The Revival vs. Bobby Lashley & Roman Reigns: Reigns and Dawson start this one off. Dawson starts off with some shots to the ribs of Roman, which were apparently injured in the attack earlier tonight. Reigns comes back and punches Dawson out of the ring. Back in the ring, a distraction from Wilder leads to Dawson hitting a cheap shot on Reigns. Wilder tags in and stomps on Reigns’ ribs while he’s down. Dawson tags back in and continues the offense on Reigns. Reigns tries to fight back, but he’s still selling a rib injury and Dawson drops him. Wilder tags in and they double team Reigns. Dawson tags back in but Reigns tees off on him with right hands. Dawson comes back with a boot to the midsection, but Reigns fires back with a shot in the corner. Wilder tags in but Reigns drops him. Wilder looks for a roll-up, but Reigns hits a superman punch. Dawson breaks up the pin. Lashley runs in and hits a spinebuster on Wilder, then one on Dawson, then he goes back out to the apron. Lashley asks for the tag, but Reigns declines and looks for a superman punch. Dawson and Wilder double team Reigns now and pummel on him. Mojo attacks Jose from behind, and then he goes out to ringside and assaults a member of the conga line. He tackles the conga dancer into the fan barricade, and then Jose comes out to ringside to fight Mojo. Mojo gets the upper hand and rams Jose into the ring apron. Mojo heads to the back while Jose is selling a rib injury on the ringside floor.

Winner: n/a

– Michael Cole introduces a video package looking at the history between Alexa Bliss and Ronda Rousey.

– We go to a pre-taped interview with Ronda Rousey where she mentions that she’s suspended from RAW, but she’s not suspended from Extreme Rules, and she has a front row ticket for it.

Mickie James vs. Nia Jax: Alexa Bliss is at ringside for this one. Before the match, Nia Jax comes out to the stage with a mic. She talks about hoping she’d be done with Alexa by now, but she’s still dealing with her. Nia says their feud needs to end, and it will end at Extreme Rules with Ronda Rousey sitting at ringside. Nia says Kurt has confirmed that their Women’s Title match at Extreme Rules will be under “extreme rules.” Nia mentions Mickie, and says she brought Natalya for back up. Natalya comes out, and she’ll be at ringside in Nia’s corner for this singles match. Mickie attacks off the opening bell, but Nia shoves her down. Mickie rolls outside for a breather. Back in the ring, Mickie turns it around and kicks Nia out to ringside. Mickie kicks out Nia’s knee at ringside, then takes things back in the ring. Mickie continues working over Nia’s knee on the mat and takes her down. Nia fights back with headbutts and clotheslines. Mickie hits a big boot and kicks out Nia’s knee again. Mickie goes for a kick but Nia catches it and powerbombs her down. Natalya and Alexa get into it at ringside, and meanwhile in the ring Nia hits a Samoan Drop on Mickie for the three count.

Winner: Nia Jax

– Kevin Owens is backstage taking meditation advice from Jinder Mahal, trying to find inner peace before his match with Strowman. Jinder continues meditating next to him as we go to commercial.

– Michael Cole introduces a replay of Reigns getting beat down by The Revival earlier, and refusing to tag in Lashley for help.

Owens hides in a porta-potty, and Strowman charges outside and demands to know where Owens went. Strowman searches around the parking area as the fans chant “porta potty.” Strowman appears to smell Owens’ scent in the air, and he looks at the porta potty. Strowman hears Owens inside the porta potty, so he wraps it in duct tape to keep the door shut. Strowman pulls the Porta potty inside the area and drags it through the hallway with Owens inside. Strowman drags the porta potty deep inside the arena and back out next to the stage and entrance ramp. Strowman hauls the porta potty up a ramp on the side of the stage, and he drags it over near the entrance ramp. Strowman sets the porta potty near the edge of the stage, then charges and knocks it off the edge down to the floor. Medics and refs go to check on Owens, who is now covered in blue liquid from inside the porta potty. Owens recovers on the floor as Strowman poses on the stage and RAW goes off the air.

Jimmy Havoc Announced for ROH International Cup

0

Ring of Honor has announced that UK star Jimmy Havoc will be taking part in the upcoming International Cup as part of the Honor ReUnited tour of the United Kingdom in August.

Havoc is a former CZW Tournament of Death winner, the longest reigning Champion in PROGRESS Wrestling history and has performed on a consistent basis for the top promotions in the UK including DEFIANT, Rev Pro, XWA:UK, IPW:UK, ICW Fight Club: Pro and the aforementioned PROGRESS.

The tournament is being billed as “United States vs United Kingdom” and ROH issued the following press release for the announcement of Havoc:

“One of the most sadistic and masochistic wrestlers in the world makes his Ring of Honor debut in Edinburgh as part of Ring of Honor’s Inaugural International Cup! Jimmy Havoc has held championships from all around the globe, including the Progress Championship and CZW Tournament of Death 2016, and is the first competitor announced for the inaugural ROH International Cup! Havoc thrives against more physical and violent wrestlers like Masada and Matt Tremont but is known for his victories against Pete Dunne, Tommy End, Will Ospreay, and Matt Riddle! Havoc is most dangerous not because of the violence he can deliver but because of his ability to wrestle his own match within the confines of the rules of the bout.

Havoc has one of the premiere reputations on the independent scene and enters the tournament as not only its first entrant but also its favorite. Havoc will face an American star to be named in the coming weeks as part of the first round in Edinburgh, with the winners of the first four matches of the International Cup meeting in the semifinals in Doncaster, and the winners of the two semifinal matches meeting in the finals in Doncaster. The inaugural winner of the International Cup will face whomever the Ring of Honor World Champion may be on Sunday August 19 in London!

Steve Austin Talks His Favorite Rising WWE Stars, Vince McMahon

3

Steve Austin has opened up on some of his favorite rising Superstars as well as dealing with WWE Chairman Vince McMahon.

The WWE Hall of Famer recently appeared on Chasing Glory with Lilian Garcia to talk about various topics. When asked about some of his favorite Superstars that are currently in the WWE, Austin noted that he always preaches that you need to learn how to work, but its intensity, it’s a mean streak as a heel or babyface, and its fire. He pointed out that he likes Ronda Rousey, Bayley, and Sasha Banks.

Ronda Rousey has that fire to no end, she has that intensity to no end. Bailey, this absolute sweetheart, I love Bayley. All of a sudden she shows this damn fire and this mean streak. Her and Sasha have such great chemistry and I love Sasha as a heel more. I love both those women.”

Throughout the years, Austin has always shown respect to Vince McMahon even though they may not see eye to eye on everything including creative. Austin discussed this in this interview and brought up the fact that since he was young, he was never afraid to ask a question.

He mentioned that he and Vince got to be very very good friends but that Vince is a very intimidating person when you first walk in there to talk.

“Like I told him, my response to him was, “Vince, you got guys here 6’10, 7 feet tall, 300 to 330 pounds,” I said, “I’m 6’2, 250, black trunks, black boots. If you take my personality, from me, I can’t compete. If you give me my personality, I can compete with anyone you got.” And he says, “Okay Steve.” And then he stopped editing me and that’s when we starting flying.”

Austin added that wrestlers have to control their destiny and that you can’t have the mindset to sit back and say that creative has nothing for you.

Austin also talked about the story of how he came up with Austin 3:16, staying humble, why he didn’t want the ECW Championship in the beginning and more. You can listen to the entire podcast here.

Ric Flair To Undergo Surgery Next Week

6

WWE Hall of Famer Ric Flair is slated to undergo surgery next week.

According to a recent report by Ryan Satin of Pro Wrestling Sheet, Flair will not be undergoing surgery to remove a colonoscopy bag despite that rumor going around but instead, he will undergo an ileostomy procedure.

His fiancé, Wendy Barlow, told Satin that the procedure has to be done after his health scare last summer. The wrestling legend is scheduled for surgery on July 9th with pre-op on July 6th.

According to the American Cancer Association, an ileostomy is defined as an opening in the belly (abdominal wall) that is made during surgery and that the lowest part of the small intestine is brought through this opening to form a stoma.

Thus, a colonoscopy bag applies to the large intestine and not the small intestine. The WWE Hall of Famer hopes to reverse the stoma so he’ll no longer be forced to drain the pouch.

We wish Flair a successful surgery and speedy recovery.

Ronda Rousey Says She Will Be At WWE Extreme Rules (Video)

2

Ronda Rousey has vowed to be at WWE Extreme Rules.

It’s well known by now Rousey attacked Alexa Bliss on a recent episode of RAW and was later “suspended” for 30 days as a result of her actions. This comes off the fact that Rousey beat Nia Jax by DQ in a WWE RAW Women’s Championship match at the Money in the Bank pay-per-view event once Bliss attacked Rousey.

After the match, Bliss cashed in her MITB contract to win the title from Jax. WWE has already announced that Bliss will make her next title defense against Jax at the upcoming Extreme Rules PPV event.

WWE’s YouTube channel has uploaded this short interview with Rousey where she spoke about her suspension and when she will return to WWE television.

Regarding her suspension, she noted that she respects Kurt Angle’s decision to suspend her because he has to uphold the rules but she doesn’t regret her actions and would do it again if she had the chance.

On the Bliss vs Jax match, Rousey noted that she is so excited to see that match that she will be buying a ticket in the front row to watch it.

Seth Rollins Thinks Another Shield Reunion Will Happen

12

Seth Rollins is still holding out hope for another reunion with Roman Reigns and Dean Ambrose as members of The Shield.

The former WWE Intercontinental Champion recently spoke with App.com to promote his appearance at iPlay America in Freehold on July 7. In this interview, he was asked about another potential Shield reunion after the latest comeback didn’t last long as a result of Ambrose getting injured.

Rollins noted that it started off great as he and Ambrose won the RAW Tag Team Titles. Once they brought in Reigns, it was a lot of fun and exciting.

“And then, you know, the mumps happened, and there’s nothing you can really do about that, so that threw a real wrench into the plans. And Ambrose got hurt, so what can you do? That’s part of the business, that’s part of the game.”

Rollins is excited about the idea of a potential reunion down the road because he thinks it leaves them a lot of room for future Shield reunions and different ideas involving the three stars. He thinks it would be great to have another opportunity to do that at some point in the future.

“You know, we haven’t done it and thrown it away and wasted it. But yeah man, it’s just (that) stuff happens, you can’t predict those variables of people getting sick or injured.”

Ambrose has been out of action since late 2017 when he underwent surgery to repair a high-grade triceps tendon. The surgery took place in December, but the arm injury reportedly took place at the Tables, Ladders, and Chairs pay-per-view event back on October 22nd.

When asked about Ambrose’s recovery, Rollins responded by stating “Dean’s good, man, he’s on the mend. He’s on his way back. Hopefully sometime before the end of the year we’ll see Dean Ambrose on WWE television again.”

Shaquille O’Neal Still Open To Match With The Big Show

6

Shaquille O’Neal has made it known that he’s still interested in a match against The Big Show.

If you recall, back in 2016, Shaq and The Big Show teased a match at WrestleMania 33 in Arlington, Texas at AT&T Stadium. However, the match never became a reality and Big Show ended up competing in the Andre The Giant Memorial Battle Royal when the match fell through.

The NBA Legend recently did an interview with WSVN-TV entertainment reporter Chris Van Vliet and in this discussion, O’Neal seemed open to an idea of taking on The Big Show in a match at the sports entertainment company’s biggest event of the year, WrestleMania.

He asked about when WrestleMania 35 is scheduled to take place which the reporter responded by stating that it’s in April. This led to O’Neal teasing the match once again by stating, “Next April? Well, I got a little time to get these back up,” as he showed off his bicep.

“You ready for that Big Show? I don’t think you are baby. Oh can’t squeeze that. Can’t squeeze a rock can you? I’ll think about it.”

O’Neal didn’t give a clear reason as to why the match didn’t happen two years ago despite both athletes teasing it on social media. Shaq added that Show is one of his favorite people and that “I would have loved for that match to go down but I don’t know what happened.”

Kalisto Accidentally Unmasked At WWE Live Event (Video)

6

Kalisto found out over the weekend that things don’t always go as planned a wrestling match.

Footage of Kalisto accidentally being unmasked at a recent WWE house show has surfaced on various social media platforms.

WWE held a live event on late last month in Anaheim, CA at the Honda Center that saw Kalisto challenge Cedric Alexander for the Cruiserweight Title.

The current champion accidentally ripped off Kalisto’s mask. This is when the 205 Live star was forced to hide his face in the corner while the referee picked up the mask from the center of the ring and hand it over to him.

Thus, Kalisto would then roll out of the ring to put his mask back on to continue the contest that would later see Alexander come out on top and retain his title.

Following the match, Alexander raised Kaito’s hand as a way of showing him some respect.

Bruce Prichard Recalls Emotional Story From King Of The Ring 1998

Prichard also revealed that contrary to popular belief, the second big bump taken by Mick Foley was planned. “I knew the two big bumps and I knew the finish but I didn’t know what they were gonna do immediately after the bump into the ring. I’m screaming backstage for Pat Patterson,” Prichard said.

“I’m going f–king nuts and I’m angry at this point because Pat’s the agent for the match and he’s not there at Gorilla to talk me through the thing. And Jerry Briscoe comes to me and sits down and says, ‘what do you want?’ I said, ‘I’ve gotta know what the hell what we’re doing here, what was planned here, what can we cut out? What can we do? What’s going on? Where the f–k is Pat?'”

Unfortunately, the reason Pat Patterson was absent was his long-time partner had died.

“Jerry just looks at me and says, ‘he got a call about Louis.’ Louis was Pat’s partner for many many years, 35 plus years. It shut me down I looked at him and said, ‘oh my god, is Louis okay?’ Jerry just looks at me and said, ‘he’s dead.'”

Prichard continues to say the events had an impact on him. “I’m screaming like an asshole and a lunatic for Pat not knowing what had happened,” he continued.

“I think Jerry knew I don’t even know if Vince [McMahon] knew at that point. Just that calm comes over ya and it’s a surreal feeling because all this other s–t that you think is so important becomes really unimportant.”

Kofi Kingston: I Thought WWE Would Cancel E3 Battle With Kenny Omega

1

Kofi Kingston thought WWE would cancel the New Day vs the Elite gaming battle at E3. The member of New Day recently spoke to the Unsanctioned Podcast about his experience at the event.

Kingston mentioned he is a big Kenny Omega fan. “To see where [Omega’s] career has gone, and to see him just rise over there in Japan has been awesome to watch,” Kofi said. “So I always regretted not being able to have personal interaction with him, so for me, it was kind of a dream come true.”

Kofi Kingston on WWE Promoting E3 Battle With Kenny Omega and the Young Bucks

Many were surprised when WWE got behind the event, even mentioning the Young Bucks and Kenny Omega on WWE.com.

“It was just great, man. And the Young Bucks are just so cool. It was just an instant vibe, just instant chemistry,” Kingston said. “We were all on the same page and just went out there. And honestly, the vibe in general like leading up to it was like, okay, this is probably going to get canceled because there’s no way that Vince knows this is happening. When was the last time you saw WWE doing anything inter-promotional? Granted it was on the video game stage, but still. Ever since we came out, there was talk of The Elite versus The New Day, all this talk on the internet, on social media. We get those comments every single day. And hopefully, this was like the first step to open up some doors to do more things in the future. We’ll keep our fingers crossed.”

WWE has shown more openness to working with different promotions as of late. The company recently reached a deal with Pro Wrestling NOAH to allow Hideo Itami to appear on an event for the promotion as well.

AJ Styles Shuts Down Bullet Club Fan On Twitter

37

AJ Styles isn’t afraid of shutting someone down on Twitter. He did so just recently to a fan who bashed WWE’s potential signing of Bullet Club members.

AJ Styles, Luke Gallows, and Karl Anderson were in Tokyo recently as part of the Smackdown brand’s live events this weekend. WWE posted the following Tweet in reference to the Club’s Japanese roots.

WWE’s Club versus Bullet Club

Another fan posted a Tweet implying they would like to see Kenny Omega and the Young Bucks in WWE as well.

This led one Bullet Club fan to state they do not support the idea of more BC members signing with WWE.

https://twitter.com/iDontCare1830/status/1013562775652663297

“I know you’re not implying you’d like to see them all in the WWE,” the fan Tweeted. “Seriously? So they could be ruined and tarnished and have WWE’s corporate stench on them? They’re perfectly fine changing the wrestling world in NJPW, ROH and ALL_IN.”

The fan who AJ ultimately shut down is of the belief if the Bucks and Omega went to WWE, it would not be as entertaining as what they are doing now is. In the fan’s defense, this is a popularly held belief.

Styles saw the Tweet and addressed it directly.

“This is what you and some seem to forget….THIS IS A BUSINESS. We have bills and a family to take care of just like everyone else. Everything we put our body’s through on a weekly basis well not last forever. Work hard and earn it all.”

NJPW President Talks International Expansion, More English Content

0

New Japan Pro Wrestling named a new President back in May. Dutch businessman, Harold Meij, was given the role. At NJPW’s show in Osaka Jo Hall recently, Meij appeared in the ring to address the fans.

“I will work with all my heart so that you fans can feel a stronger sense of inspiration, and enjoy yourselves even more,” Meij said. “I would like to take New Japan Pro-Wrestling to the next level.”

The 54-year-old recently sat down for an interview with Japanese media outlet, the Mainichi. He explained why he chose to address the crowd in Osaka.

“I think there are long-time fans that must be worrying, ‘What? The operator is a foreigner? What’s going to happen?’ Because I look like a foreigner, you know?” Meij said. “They worry that New Japan might change. I wanted to come myself as the president and talk with the fans to alleviate any anxiety they might have.”

NJPW Plans For Increased International Expansion

Meij would continue to say that 40% of the subscribers to New Japan World are from outside of Japan. Currently, the promotion has 100,000 subscribers to their streaming service.

“I want to expand the fan-base regardless of age, gender or nationality,” Meij explained. “New Japan has fantastic content, so it has the possibility of picking up popularity overseas. At the moment, there are some 100,000 registered members on our video streaming service ‘New Japan Pro-Wrestling World,’ and 40,000 of them live outside Japan. I would like to aim for the international market with things like videos in English or events for foreign tourists.”

Meij continued to say he plans to become a pioneer of sports marketing.

“Even though there are a plethora of markets abroad, many Japanese companies aren’t making any use of them. As someone not bound by language or cultural barriers, I would like to become a pioneer in sports marketing.” Meij continued. “In three years at least, I will achieve profits of 10 billion yen. The figure is close to the 10.2 billion yen made by the Japan Sumo Association in 2016.” He continued, “I will continue to show up at more and more matches because I have to judge the reactions of the fans for myself. To that end, I will speak with fans whenever I have the chance.”

Kevin Sullivan: Fans Don’t Think Ring Of Honor Is Cool

14

Kevin Sullivan does not believe wrestling fans think Ring of Honor’s product is cool. He believes the roster is as talented as any he’s ever seen but he lacks faith in the promotion itself.

The 68-year-old former Dungeon of Doom leader was a guest on Interactive Wrestling Radio in May. Sullivan had plenty to say regarding his feelings towards Ring of Honor during the show.

Kevin Sullivan Interview Highlights

On the topic of Ring of Honor’s roster, Sullivan had this to say.

“Let me tell you about their talent. I’ve seen them all in my 40 years. Jay Lethal and Jay Briscoe matches are just as good as Funk and Brisco, Flair and Steamboat,” Sullivan said. These guys are just superb. They’ve got some great young talent. Dalton Castle? He’s a special talent. They get Cody [Rhodes] there. He’s a special talent and an influx of New Japan guys.”

Sullivan believes the only reason ROH broke their attendance record at Supercard of Honor this year is the event is held over WrestleMania weekend. He believes WWE draws the house for them in that situation.

“What are they going to do if they’re wrestling fans?” Sullivan asked out loud. “Of course, you’re going to go to the show! They haven’t drawn! Are you kidding me? What else would a wrestling fan do?”

Sullivan then described what he feels is definitive proof that ROH is not seen as cool by fans.

“I’ll give you why and I think this is the definite proof. Last Saturday, Ring of Honor was in Chicago with Cody and all of the boys, right? They drew 1,600 people. On Sunday, All In drew 11,000 people in 29 minutes and 31 seconds. What is wrong with this picture? People look at Ring of Honor and think it is uncool.”
