Interesting New WWE Trademark, People TV Profile On Stephanie McMahon

3

WWE Files For Interesting New Trademark

WWE continues to apply for interesting new trademarks. PWInsider reports that the company has now applied to trademark the term “Global Localization.” WWE applied for the trademark on April 7th, 2018, and the description for the filing can be found below:

“Entertainment services, namely, a show about professional wrestling; entertainment services, namely, the production and exhibition of professional wrestling events rendered live and through broadcast media including television and radio, and via the internet or commercial online service; providing wrestling news and information via a global computer network; providing information in the fields of sports and entertainment via an online community portal; providing a website in the field of sports entertainment; fan club services, namely, organizing and staging events with wrestling fan club members; providing online newsletters in the field of sports entertainment; online journals, namely, blogs in the fields of sports entertainment; business development; entertainment services, namely, development and distribution of talent and content”

It should be noted that this trademark comes on the heels of rumors that WWE is looking to revamp its “Global Warning” pay-per-view (PPV) event in Australia later this year at a 100,000 seat arena. WWE originally held the event in Australia back in 2002.

People TV’s Profile On Stephanie McMahon

People TV recently did a profile on WWE CBO and Monday Night RAW Commissioner Stephanie McMahon. McMahon took to Twitter to react to the feature and noted that it focuses on her personal life as a mom of three, as well as her responsibilities in WWE:

WWE Reportedly Scouting Top Indy Talent

0

WWE continues to scout the globe for the absolute best talent in the professional wrestling world, and put their world-class Performance Center in Florida to good use.

According to the Wrestling Observer Newsletter, WWE was scouting at a Shimmer event during WrestleMania weekend, and Tessa Blanchard was said to be a stand-out performer. Blanchard is the daughter of Four Horsemen alum Tully Blanchard and the step-daughter of Magnum TA.

Recently there have been rumors floating around that Blanchard’s attitude backstage is an issue, however, she cut a promo at an indy show a few months back and addressed this. The 22-year-old has some experience working with WWE in the past.

She lost an opening round match to eventual tournament winner Kairi Sane in the Mae Young Classic. Sane and Blanchard put on a great bout that was very well received from the tournament’s audience.

We’ll keep you updated as we learn more on the situation…

Update On New Total Divas Cast Members For Next Season

2

E!’s Total Divas recently wrapped up its seventh season this past January. The show has been in production since 2013 and has been airing for the past five years.

In the past several seasons we have seen Divas come and go from the show, with new stars being added recently such as Carmella, Alexa Bliss, and Nia Jax. Wrestling Observer Newsletter’s Dave Meltzer reports that both Paige and Sonya Deville are cast for next season.

Liv Morgan of SmackDown Live could also be added to the show as she was recently filming an episode with Lana during WrestleMania 34 weekend. Deville is one-half of the Absolution tag team on RAW, alongside Mandy Rose – who is also showcased on Total Divas.

Deville is one of the first openly gay female athletes on WWE’s roster. As for Morgan, she is one-third of The Riott Squad on SmackDown Live alongside Ruby Riott and Sarah Logan. It should be interesting to see how these young main roster call-ups interact with veterans backstage.

Rusev Update, Injured Superstar Cleared to Return, Top Merchandise Movers

25

Rusev Update

Following up on the news of Rusev being pulled from the Undertaker Casket Match at Greatest Royal Rumble, the Bulgarian Superstar has since removed references to WWE from his Twitter bio. He has also updated his Instagram page, changing his name from Rusev to his real name, Miroslav Barnyashev.

In response to the news that he’ll no longer be wrestling The Undertaker, he tweeted the following – a strong contender for The Solomonster’s “Sad Tweet of the Week.”

Kendrick Cleared To Return

Former WWE Cruiserweight Champion Brian Kendrick has been cleared to return, according to the Wrestling Observer. Kendrick has been out of action since December when he suffered fractures to his orbital bone and nasal bridge on the Christmas edition of WWE RAW.

The injury took place while taking Hideo Itami’s GTS finisher. Meltzer noted that Kendrick took the move improperly, but Itami has refrained from using it ever since.

WWE Merchandise Movers

Also from this week’s Wrestling Observer, we have an update on WWE merchandise sales. John Cena’s merchandise remains “far and away” the best sellers, despite working a reduced schedule this year.

WWE Champion AJ Styles and Roman Reigns are essentially tied for the #2 spot, followed by The New Day. Meltzer noted that Finn Balor, Seth Rollins and Braun Strowman are also doing very well in terms of merchandise sales.

Possible Storyline Plans For Woken Matt & Bray Wyatt

16

Former rivals ‘Woken’ Matt Hardy and Bray Wyatt put their differences aside at WrestleMania and forged an alliance. It was an unexpected turn of events after their heated rivalry that saw Matt delete Bray by throwing him in the Lake of Reincarnation during the Ultimate Deletion special.

According to the Wrestling Observer Newsletter, WWE’s creative team is already discussing plans to split them up and for Bray to align himself with a new band of misfits.

“Whether this happens or not remains to be seen but there is a pitch for Wyatt to turn on Matt Hardy and then be the leader of the Sanity group.”

Sanity is the NXT stable consisted of Eric Young, Nikki Cross and former NXT tag team champions Alexander Wolfe and Killian Dain.

Woken Matt & Bray Wyatt

The night after joining forces at WrestleMania, the duo teamed up on RAW in the first round of the Tag Team Eliminator Tournament to crown new RAW tag team champions. They made short work of Titus Worldwide to advance. Next week, they will face Dash & Dawson to determine who faces The Bar at Greatest Royal Rumble for the vacant titles.

Whether or not Matt and Bray advance to the finals and challenge for the tag titles, it seems that they will be treated as a tag team unit during next week’s Superstar Shake-Up.

Bullet Club Member Set To Return

1

It has been over a year since this wrestler has stepped foot in a ring and many felt it would never happen again. He was never the most popular member of the faction in NJPW but despite this, Bone Soldier is set to return shortly.

Who is Mitsuhide Hirasawa aka Captain New Japan aka Bone Soldier?

Mitsuhide Hirasawa returned from excursion in Puerto Rico in 2011. Under the name Hideo Saito he would join CHAOS that year. After a 1-8 performance in the G1 tournament, however, the rest of the faction kicked him out. He would return dressed up as Captain New Japan and even had a shield similar to Captain America.

In 2016, Captain New Japan joined Yoshi-Tatsu’s “Hunter Club” of wrestlers who targetted Bullet Club. Again, Captain New Japan ended up being kicked out of this club due to poor performance. In response to being kicked out of the group, Captain New Japan turned on Tatsu and joined Bullet Club as “Bone Soldier”.

In the 2016 World Tag League, Bone Soldier teamed with Bad Luck Fale and the pair lost every match. Omega then called Bone Soldier an “intergalactic disaster” and he was seemingly gone from both Bullet Club and NJPW. Now it appears, after over a year away from the promotion, Bone Soldier is returning.

WWE Releases Nicholas’ Entrance Video and Music

20

Former WWE Raw tag-team champion, Nicholas, has become one of the most popular 4th graders in the world. Not only that, he is now the youngest person in history to wear WWE gold.

Unfortunately, Braun Strowman and Nicholas were forced to vacate the titles due to a scheduling conflict with Nicholas’ elementary school. Nicholas won’t be available to compete in WWE again for approximately 8-12 years depending on if he goes to college or not.

Despite Nicholas having to vacate the titles, WWE has released his unused entrance video and music. The link to the video on WWE.com is here and YouTube user Jessy Ryder has uploaded it below:

WWE Raw Tag Team Championships

The Raw tag-team championships will now be up for grabs at the Greatest Royal Rumble on April 27th from Jeddah, Saudi Arabia. The Bar will face the winners of a match between the Revival and Bray Wyatt & Matt Hardy.

Ronda Rousey’s Next WWE Matches Announced

15

Ronda Rousey’s next WWE match has been announced. The ‘Baddest Woman on the Planet’ is heading to Europe as part of the company’s annual post-WrestleMania tour. She will be competing on the following shows:

  • May 16th: Geneva, Switzerland
  • May 17th: Vienna, Austria
  • May 18th: Turin, Italy
  • May 19th: Paris, France

The entire WWE European tour will feature 13 live events.

Ronda Rousey: WWE Superstar

Rousey made her professional wrestling debut last weekend at WrestleMania 34. She and Kurt Angle teamed up to defeat Triple H and Stephanie McMahon in a show-stealing performance. She appeared in the opening segment of Monday’s RAW and once again put Stephanie in an armbar to the delight of the live crowd.

Who Will Rousey Work With In Europe?

It will be interesting to see which WWE Superstar(s) are selected to work with Rousey on the European tour, how those matches are received and whether or not WWE sees a spike in ticket sales with the addition of Rousey.

Rousey’s performance at WrestleMania was incredible. Not to take anything away from that, but that match was heavily planned out. When she starts working singles matches, we’ll get a better idea of where she stands as an in-ring performer. It would make sense to have Rousey work against an experienced heel on the European tour – which would make Mickie James an ideal candidate.

We’ll provide an update when WWE announces Rousey’s opponent(s).

John Cena On His Future After Wrestling, Shinsuke Nakamura On His Heel Turn

9

– John Cena was recently a guest on Popcorn with Peter Travers where he was promoting his new movie Blockers. During the interview, it was noted that the Cenation Leader is giving ‘some serious thought to what comes next in his career after wrestling’:

“The fact that I’ve been able to do it at the pace that I have for 16 years, that’s not your regular statistic, That falls into like the Tom Brady category. I’m not supposed to be where I am anyway. So I don’t know when it’s all going to end.”

Apart from this Cena also talked about how the culture has changed and how he shared director Kay Cannon’s vision for his character in the film. You can read more quotes from John Cena’s interview and check out the video of it here.

– Shinsuke Nakamura surprised everyone by turning heel at WrestleMania 34 by beating AJ Styles after their match. Then he attacked both Styles and Daniel Bryan again during the main event of the post WrestleMania episode of SmackDown Live.

The Japanese Star made his first comments on his heel turn via the following tweet yesterday, saying that we will see his actions and feel the vibe:

Baron Corbin Reveals His Dream Opponent

10

With Superstar Shakeup being around the corner, fans have been discussing which stars can switch brands and Baron Corbin has a dream opponent which he may get to face soon enough if he is moved.

Corbin recently appeared on Busted Open Radio where he talked about being a metalhead and how people have the wrong assumption that he did not grow up as a fan of Pro Wrestling.

When asked about his dream opponent, the Lone Wolf said that he would like to face the Big Dog Roman Reigns without a doubt because in his thought, Roman is the best athlete WWE has to offer:

“Roman Reigns. Without a doubt. I think he is the best athlete WWE has to offer. I have been in the ring with AJ Styles, so of course, I would say the same for him, but I have never been in the ring with Roman Reigns, or Seth Rollins, and I think what those guys bring to the table are truly special”

While Baron Corbin made his main roster debut prior to the reintroduction of Brand Extension, he has spent the majority of his time working on SmackDown Live.

However since he is currently not involved in any major storyline at the Blue Brand, Corbin is one of the favorites to switch brands next week and if it happens, then we can very well expect to see him facing his dream opponent sooner rather than later.

You can check out our picks of stars to switch shows at Superstar Shakeup to improve both brands here. The full interview of Baron Corbin can be seen below:

Date For CM Punk’s Second UFC Fight Officially Announced

19

It was rumored for months that the former WWE Champion CM Punk will be having his second fight at UFC 225 in Chicago and now it has officially been confirmed.

UFC made the following tweet from their official account, confirming that the Straight Edge Star will be going head to head against Mike Jackson on June 9:

This is not a big surprise as President Dana White had previously confirmed the reports of Punk facing Jackson in his return bout and Chicago has always been the rumored place for this fight.

The longest reigning WWE Champion of the Morden Era, Punk, walked away from the company back in 2014 due to being unhappy with his bookings and several health issues.

His WWE contract was officially terminated in June 2014 and in December it was revealed that the former Champion has signed a multi-fight contract with UFC.

CM Punk made his debut for the MMA League against Mickey Gall in September 2016 at UFC 203 and lost the bout via a rear naked choke at 2:14 of the first round.

In the following few months of his dominating loss, it looked like Punk’s career at Ultimate Fighting Championship was over but in the last few months a second fight started looking more likely and now it has officially been announced.

Shane Strickland Crowned New MLW World Heavyweight Champion

0

Shane “Swerve” Strickland became the new MLW World Heavyweight Champion by defeating Matt Riddle in the tournament finals at Thursday’s MLW show from Orlando, FL.

Strickland has been a fixture of Major League Wrestling since the promotion’s reboot back in October, when he defeated Ricochet in the main event of One-Shot. He defeated Brody King and Jimmy Haboc in the first two rounds of the championship tournament en route to the showdown with Riddle.

Also on the show, Pentagon El Zero M defeated Rey Fenix on the card to become the #1 contender.

Tickets go on sale Friday morning for MLW’s next show – dubbed MLW: Intimidation Games on May 3rd from Orlando, FL.

Chris Jericho Replacing Rusev In Casket Match At Greatest Royal Rumble

54

In a strange turn of events, WWE announced on Thursday that Rusev will no longer be competing against The Undertaker in a casket match at the Greatest Royal Rumble. Chris Jericho, who had previously been announced for the 50-man Rumble, will take his place and challenge the Dead Man instead.

The initial news that Rusev would be facing The Undertaker in a casket match came out of nowhere, as the two have had little to no interaction on television. In what some took as a thinly-veiled reference to his standing with the company, Rusev tweeted the following in response to the match announcement:

Earlier today, TMZ Sports posted a video of Rusev and Lana in Los Angeles, CA talking about the upcoming casket match. They said The Undertaker was old news and past his prime, which apparently did not go over too well.

TMZ’s headline actually stated that Rusev claimed he was going to retire the Undertaker and “crush his old ass.” Undertaker’s wife Michelle McCool took notice:

Within a matter of hours, the decision was made to pull Rusev from the match. Rusev’s wife Lana tweeted that she refuses to let her husband compete in a casket match and told WWE officials to find a replacement.

Prior to WrestleMania, PWInsider reported that Rusev was unhappy and requested to be released. He was later moved from the Andre The Giant Memorial Battle Royal to the United States Championship match, where he took the pinfall. This latest development does not bode well for Rusev’s standing with the company.

Update: Rusev tweeted the following about being pulled from the casket match:

Bray Wyatt Completely Destroys Fan On Twitter, AJ Styles Reveals Favorite Christian Rapper

22

– Bray Wyatt seems to be “Woken,” and that means he’s going to be a lot more vocal with fans on Twitter. One fan teased Wyatt’s relationship with RAW ring announcer JoJo Offerman, saying that she was an attractive and wealthy woman who is with a “fat neckbeard” like Wyatt – not for the money, but because she likes his personality.

Wyatt responded by listing out his accomplishments, before posting a photo of the fan attacking him and captioning it “You are this…..”:

The fan responded by saying he was trying to put Wyatt over, and The Eater Of Worlds responded by saying he just made the fan famous:

Relevant Magazine recently published an interview with WWE Champion AJ Styles. In the article, Styles talks about his love for Christian rap – as his faith is something that’s very important to him.

The Phenomenal One named Tedashii, Trip Lee and NF as some artists that he enjoys – but named Lecrae at the top of his list.

Kenny Omega Teases Challenging Roman Reigns, Daniel Bryan Watches His First Televised WWE Match

8

– Back in December Roman Reigns claimed in a WWE Network special interview with Corey Graves that he was the best in-ring performer in the world today. A month later, New Japan Pro Wrestling (NJPW) star Kenny Omega responded:

“It is what it is, and I understand that it’s a fun thing for fans to generate interest in the product,” Omega said. “I take absolutely zero offense in him saying it. Especially, since it’s quite clear that the fact of the matter is much, much different.”

It seems The Cleaner has taken the time to respond to WWE’s Big Dog yet again. Reigns recently Tweeted out the following statement:

Omega responded with one word and a smirky emoji:

If Reigns and Omega want any shot at having a match, it’d have to be in NJPW as The Cleaner has been very vocal about not wanting to leave his current promotion.

Discussion: Do you think this could lead to anything between Omega and Reigns in the future? What are the odds The Cleaner makes his way to WWE when his current deal in Japan is up? Do you even want to see Omega in WWE?

– WWE posted the following video of Daniel Bryan watching his first televised match with the company against Chris Jericho. The match happened on NXT, when the show was still a competition series, and Bryan wound up losing to Y2J via submission. Check it out here:

Liv Morgan Accidentally Posts Run Sheet For NXT TV Tapings (Photo), IMPACT Jokes About Hiring

7

– Liv Morgan made a big mistake by posting a photo on her Instagram story earlier today. Morgan posted a photo of herself without realizing the run sheet for tonight’s NXT tapings was in the background.

The sheet lists out three matches that are scheduled for the program, as well as which Superstars are involved in various segments. WWE Hall Of Famer Shawn Michaels was listed as producing a few segments as well as two matches featuring Aleister Black.

https://www.instagram.com/p/BhdQgY0ANTT/

– As we’ve noted, RAW General Manager Kurt Angle name-dropped TNA on this past Monday’s episode during a segment with Kevin Owens and Sami Zayn. Owens and Zayn, who are out of a job at SmackDown Live following their WrestleMania loss to Daniel Bryan and Shane McMahon, came to RAW in hopes of finding a spot on the roster.

Angle told the pair that his tag team division was full, but he hears that TNA is hiring. Fans went nuts for the line. IMPACT even responded to the name-drop on their Twitter account shortly after. Now, several days later, IMPACT has again referenced their name being mentioned on WWE TV.

The account joked that someone came into their offices with donuts and a resume, before saying they’re the company everyone wants to work for:

When Brock Lesnar Signed His New WWE Deal, Did He Go Off-Script At WrestleMania?

21

This past weekend in New Orleans at WrestleMania 34, Universal Champion Brock Lesnar successfully defended his title against Roman Reigns, contrary to popular belief that The Big Dog would be going over.

24 hours later it was announced that The Beast had signed a new deal with WWE, however, the details of the new contract remain unclear. Lesnar has been confirmed to be defending his title against Reigns yet again, however, this time it will be in a Steel Cage match at the Greatest Royal Rumble event in Saudi Arabia.

Dave Meltzer of Wrestling Observer Radio reports that WWE and Lesnar agreed to a new deal the Monday prior to WrestleMania. The contract wasn’t signed until the day of WrestleMania in New Orleans.

It was noted that the contract was a new deal, and not an extension of his previous one. Lesnar will also be receiving a higher rate than his last deal, and Meltzer noted that he’s not sure if it’s a one-match contract or not.

The agreement was reportedly kept quiet and very few people knew about it. Roman Reigns wasn’t alerted of this until the day of WrestleMania, and believed he was going to be winning the title from The Beast up until that point. Their original finish to the match was supposed to be Reigns countering the F5 into a spear and pinning Lesnar for the win.

It was then changed to Lesnar F5’ing Reigns for a sixth time and retaining. Nobody went off-script in the match.

Fan At WWE HOF Ceremony Reportedly Hospitalized With Measles

3

It seems that a fan from the U.K. who traveled to New Orleans for WrestleMania weekend has been hospitalized with the measles.

The tourist reportedly attended the 2018 Hall Of Fame Ceremony the Friday before WrestleMania 34, per a report from FOX 8 New Orleans.

He was hospitalized the following night on Saturday and other attendees at the Hall Of Fame are being contacted by the Louisiana Health Department now.

It also appears that, as of this writing, there is no further information on any other events the fan might have attended while infected. It was noted, however, that those who were two rows within the tourist have been emailed and urged to contact the health department:

Another fan on Twitter noted that they received an email saying they were on the same plane as the infected tourist on the way over to New Orleans. The Louisiana Health Department has already concluded that the tourist was already infected before arriving to the U.S.

It was noted that an infected person can take between 10 days to three weeks to show symptoms of measles. We’ll keep you updated….

News For Monday’s RAW, WWE Squashes Rusev Day Chants, More

18

Superstar Shake-Up

Major changes are coming to WWE next week when RAW and SmackDown host the 2018 Superstar Shake-Up. The rosters for both brands will look very different a week from now. The top stars of SmackDown Live are scheduled to be backstage at Monday’s RAW from Hartford, CT, reports PWInsider.

SmackDown does not have a live event scheduled for that night, so expect to see cameos and perhaps even matches involving SmackDown wrestlers who get traded on RAW next week.

Kevin Steen Store Opens

As part of the storyline that Kevin Owens and Sami Zayn have been ‘fired’ from SmackDown Live, Pro Wrestling Tees has launched a new store for Kevin Steen – the real name of Kevin Owens and the name he used on the independent scene before joining WWE.

Owens and Sami Zayn’s WWE Superstar bio’s are still gone from WWE.com and Owens’ Twitter account has been blacked out as well.

WWE Squashes Rusev Day Chants

Twitter user DunKology made this video showing that WWE changed the audio on Tuesday’s SmackDown to remove Rusev Day chants.

During the opening segment involving new SmackDown GM Paige talking about who should fight Daniel Bryan later in the evening, the crowd started a loud “Rusev Day” chant. In the video that got uploaded to WWE’s YouTube channel, those Rusev Day chants have been replaced with pre-recorded “AJ Styles” chants.

Paige ultimately chose Styles as Bryan’s opponent for the show’s main event. The match was ended abruptly when Shinsuke Nakamura interfered.

Former WWE World Heavyweight Champion To Appear At Greatest Royal Rumble Event

4

WWE fans can expect to see one popular former WWE World Heavyweight Champion at the upcoming Greatest Royal Rumble event.

By now it’s obvious that the sports entertainment company is loading up this show to make a first good impression with their partners in Saudi Arabia.

PWinsider.com is reporting that Rey Mysterio is slated to appear at the event. As of this writing, there’s no word yet on if he will be wrestling at the show.

If you recall, the former World Champion was set for a meeting with Triple H at WWE headquarters several weeks ago to finalize a new contract after his big surprise return at the Royal Rumble in January. However, that meeting did not happen due to the fact that Triple H needed to go to Saudi Arabia to finalize the new contract there that would see WWE produce live events.

Then it was revealed that Rey had suffered a torn bicep and was pulled from his match with Jushin Liger at NJPW Strong Style Evolved. Even though he didn’t wrestle at the event, the former WWE Champion did do an in-ring promo.

As of this writing, Mysterio has yet to make a deal with the WWE.

The WWE Greatest Royal Rumble event takes place on Friday, April 27, 2018 in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia at the King Abdullah International Stadium and will air on the WWE Network with a special start time of 11 a.m. ET/8 a.m. PT with the event airing one hour later. Both Raw and SmackDown brands will be featured. Here is the updated card:

Conrad Thompson Provides More Details On Something Else To Wrestle

7

Conrad Thompson was a guest on the latest Sports Illustrated Media Podcast to discuss he and Bruce Prichard’s new show coming to the WWE Network later this month.

Bruce and Conrad host the wildly popular Something To Wrestle With Bruce Podcast podcast. Each week, they select a wrestling event or personality and spend hours discussing the topic in-depth. WWE announced last weekend that “Something Else To Wrestle” is coming to the WWE Network – and Conrad has provided new details on exactly what that project is and how it relates to their award-winning podcast.

On the Sports Illustrated podcast appearance, Conrad explained that Something Else To Wrestle is a “totally separate deal” and their weekly podcast will continue “business as usual.” The podcast is not going away, it’s not changing and WWE has no involvement with their podcast.

They are filming a 13-episode season of Something Else To Wrestle to test the waters and gauge fan interest. Bruce and Conrad are shooting the show from their respective homes and that footage will be combined for each episode. The episodes will be 60-90 minutes in length and the show is not produced by WWE. Conrad said there the shows will be uncensored, there will be adult language and they’ll talk about controversial topics.

The show came about because a lot of people in the WWE office listen to the show. WWE saw that whenever the show focused on a particular event (ex. SummerSlam 1988), that show would see a huge spike in viewership on the WWE Network. Company offifcials took notice and reached out to Bruce and Conrad several months ago, prior to RAW’s 25th Anniversary special.

WWE has yet to announce an official premiere date for the show, but it’s already mid-April so an announcement should be coming in the next week or so.

Naomi Responds To Racist Comments On Twitter

31

The winner of the 1st ever Women’s WrestleMania Battle Royal, Naomi, had to deal with some hateful messages on Twitter recently.

The Orlando-native has been with WWE since 2009, making her one of the most experienced women on the roster.

Recently, Naomi responded to some insensitive remarks on Twitter:

Trinity Fatu (aka Naomi)

The 30-year-old Naomi might be in line for a bit of a push it appears. In addition to winning the Battle Royal at WrestleMania, Naomi defeated Natalya on Smackdown Tuesday night. With the upcoming Superstar Shakeup happening next week, it’s not clear which brand Naomi will be wrestling on in the coming months but regardless she should be pushed near the top of the division of either Raw or Smackdown depending on where she ends up.

The first 4 winners of the Andre the Giant Memorial Battle Royal weren’t able to do much following their victory. Perhaps Noami will set a different trend for the women, however.

Chris Jericho Reveals Why Vince McMahon Dropped Numbers From WrestleMania

13

Chris Jericho discussed various topics on a recent edition of his podcast; Talk is Jericho.

Jericho has done it all under the sports entertainment banner. He has been under contract with the sports entertainment company off and on since 1999. He is also a record nine-time Intercontinental Champion.

Jericho is the first Undisputed WWE Champion, and thus the final holder of the World Championship (formerly the WCW World Heavyweight Championship), having won and unified the WWE and World titles by defeating Stone Cold Steve Austin and The Rock on the same night in 2001.

It’s safe to say that his opinion should be taken into consideration as he’s one of the biggest stars that has ever been created in pro wrestling. During the podcast, he explained why WWE Chairman Vince McMahon made the decision to drop numbers from WrestleMania.

For example, although the media adds the numbers to the name of the event, the WWE just references it as WrestleMania instead of this year’s WrestleMania 34.

“The reason why, and everybody at home, is that Vince does not like the numbers after the WrestleMania because he feels like it dates it.” Jericho explained, “also, you’re not allowed to call it ‘The Grandaddy Of Them All’ because he feels that it makes it seem old. So yeah, Super Bowl 75, he does not like the number, so you cannot refer to it as ‘WrestleMania 34’. You just refer to it as ‘WrestleMania’. One of those classic Vince McMahon quirks.”
