The Shield Wrestles After RAW, New Nia Jax – Enzo Amore Storyline (Video), Paige Returns

4

– This week’s WWE RAW saw Paige wrestle her first match in more than a year, picking up a win over Sasha Banks. Paige’s last official match came during the July 27th, 2016 RAW episode. She teamed with Sasha to defeat Dana Brooke & Charlotte Flair that night. This week’s RAW also saw more dominance from Paige’s new “Absolution” stable with Mandy Rose and Sonya Deville. They once again took out Banks, Bayley and Mickie James and later surrounded Asuka in the ring but The Empress of Tomorrow left before anything could happen, like last week.

– The dark main event after this week’s RAW in Los Angeles at the Staples Center saw WWE Intercontinental Champion Roman Reigns, Seth Rollins and Dean Ambrose defeat Samoa Joe and RAW Tag Team Champions The Bar. Hank Guthrie sent word that The Shield called Joe, Sheamus and Cesaro back to the ring after they retreated through the crowd as RAW went off the air. For those who missed it, the RAW main event saw Joe help The Bar retain the RAW Tag Team Titles over Rollins and Ambrose.

– It looks like WWE is beginning a new storyline with Nia Jax and WWE Cruiserweight Champion Enzo Amore. This week’s RAW featured Nia flirting with Enzo and asking “how YOU doin’?” after Enzo ended a backstage segment with The Zo Train. You can see video of the segment below:

“Woken” Matt Hardy Debuts On RAW, Post-Show Comments On The Great War

14

This week’s WWE RAW in Los Angeles may have been the first official appearance for “Woken” Matt Hardy. Matt went all-in with the “Broken” mannerisms while interrupting a backstage Bray Wyatt promo. We’ve noted how Matt began the “Woken” transformation after a singles loss to Bray on last week’s RAW.

Hardy and Wyatt interrupted each other several times during last night’s promo before Matt ended it by sentencing Wyatt to “Deletion!” The two have since tweeted about The Great War, indicating that the feud is moving forward.

Below are tweets from this week’s big segment:

5 Takeaways From WWE RAW (12/4)

24

The December 4th, 2017 episode of WWE RAW aired live from the Staples Center in Los Angeles, CA. Here are 5 takeaways from this week’s RAW:

Jason Jordan Challenged Roman Reigns

This week’s episode of RAW kicked off with RAW GM Kurt Angle coming down to the ring to “you suck!” chants from the crowd. Angle pumped up the crowd for the RAW Tag Team Championship match and announced that Roman Reigns will also defend his Intercontinental Championship tonight on RAW.

Jason Jordan came down to the ring and asked for a match against Roman Reigns for the IC Title. Angle once again brought up that Jason Jordan is injured and Roman Reigns’ music hit. Reigns told Jordan to earn a shot at the title instead of begging his father to give it to him. Jordan replied that Reigns is constantly given opportunities by WWE management.

Reigns added that he wanted to fight Samoa Joe tonight. Samoa Joe came out from backstage and accepted Reigns’ challenge. Jordan interrupted and challenged Samoa Joe to a match. Roman interrupted and stated that he wanted Joe first. Reigns started to say something to Joe but Jordan hit Reigns with a Belly to Belly Suplex. Angle shoved Jordan off of Reigns and Roman told Kurt to start the match. Angle called for a referee as RAW went to a commercial break.

Jordan had control of the match but appeared to re-injure his knee which halted his momentum. Reigns escaped a Suplex and connected with a Superman Punch and then a Spear for the pinfall victory. Samoa Joe was watching the match from a chair on the entrance ramp.

After the match, Joe grabbed a microphone and claimed that Jason Jordan wore Reigns out and that it will be easy for Joe to lock in the Coquina Clutch. Joe made his way to the ring and brawled with Reigns. Joe locked in the Coquina Clutch but Jordan made the save and connected with a Suplex on Samoa Joe. Reigns then hit Jordan with a Superman Punch and stood tall in the ring with his Intercontinental Championship.

Backstage, Jordan demanded that Kurt Angle give him another shot at Reigns next week. Jordan also wanted a match against Jason Jordan tonight on RAW. Angle said that he would think about and asked Jordan to leave his office and relax. Samoa Joe then appeared and tackled Jordan into a wall. Joe then got in Angle’s face before walking away.

Jordan put up another solid fight against Roman Reigns. He is an elite performer in the ring, but is still facing an uphill battle when it comes to getting the crowd on his side.

Paige Made Her Return To The Ring

Paige made her return to the ring tonight on RAW and faced off against Sasha Banks. Mickie James and Bayley were in Sasha Banks’ corner for this match. Paige brought Mandy Rose and Sonya Deville down to the ring for the match as well. Alexa Bliss joined commentary for the match.

Sasha Banks controlled the match early and stomped on Paige in the corner. The referee had to break it up and Paige took advantage of that and attacked Sasha. Paige connected with a knee to the face for a two count. Sasha battled back and hit a Hurricanrana and followed it up with a Crossbody off the top rope for a two count.

Deville and Rose distracted Banks from ringside and Paige attacked Banks from behind. Paige planted Banks with a Sunset Flip Powerbomb for a two count. Sasha once again battled back and locked in the Bank Statement. Paige was able to reach the bottom rope to break the hold. Outside the ring, Rose and Deville started brawling with Mickie and Bayley. Banks lost her focus for a moment because Deville and Rose easily beatdown Mickie and Bayley. Paige took advantage and booted Sasha and then hit the Rampaige for the pinfall victory.

The crowd was heavily behind Paige as she made her return to the ring. Paige proved that RAW is still her house and Absolution has completely taken over the women’s division.

Kane Interrupted Braun Strowman

kanestrowman124RAW

Elias confronted RAW GM Kurt Angle backstage and said that he wanted to face Roman Reigns tonight, but instead Angle gave that opportunity to his son. Elias stated that Angle needs to watch his bias towards his “bastard son”. Elias added that the Los Angeles crowd was going to have to settle for a concert tonight. Angle told Elias to head to the ring and that he will find him an opponent for tonight.

Later on RAW, Elias came down to the ring with his guitar. He started singing a song that poked fun at Los Angeles. Braun Strowman interrupted and stormed down to the ring. Strowman beat Elias down and Elias escaped out of the ring. Elias hit Strowman with his guitar but Strowman shrugged it off. Braun brought Elias back into the ring and planted him with a Running Powerslam.

Kane’s music hit and the lights went out in the arena. Kane appeared on the jumbotron and stated that he will face Strowman again next week. Kane claimed that will go the abyss next week and that only one monster will emerge. Kane laughed as Braun watched on with an angry look on his face.

Kane and Braun Strowman will face off next week on RAW. I hope that is the end of their feud. I would like to see Braun Strowman in a more important role on RAW every week.

Samoa Joe Cost Rollins & Ambrose The Tag Titles

Sheamus and Cesaro defended their RAW Tag Team Championships tonight against Seth Rollins and Dean Ambrose in the main event of RAW. The Bar controlled the match early and took turns beating down Dean Ambrose. Cesaro connected with a cheap shot to Ambrose while the referee wasn’t looking. Ambrose finally was able to escape and tagged in Seth Rollins.

Rollins planted Sheamus with a Blockbuster and followed it up by hitting a SLingblade for a two count. The Bar once again captured control of the match and took turns beating down Rollins. Sheamus and Cesaro took turns beating down Rollins for the next several minutes. Eventually, Rollins was able to tag in Ambrose, but Sheamus and Cesaro once again were able to beat him down. Dean tagged Rollins back in and he immediately hit a Suplex on Sheamus. Rollins followed it up with a Falcon Arrow and went for the cover but Cesaro dove into the ring and broke it up at two.

Cesaro and Rollins traded shots in the ring and Sheamus knocked Rollins to the canvas. Sheamus started stomping on Rollins and wouldn’t stop as the referee tried warning him. The referee had no choice but to call for the bell and disqualify Sheamus and Cesaro. RAW GM Kurt Angle came down to the ring and ordered that the match be restarted as a No DQ match.

Rollins and Ambrose immediately went after The Bar and took control. Ambrose leveled Cesaro with a Clothesline and Rollins followed it up with an Elbow Drop. Ambrose went for the cover but Cesaro kicked out at two. Samoa Joe stormed down to the ring and took Ambrose and Rollins out. Reigns came down to the ring but Joe escaped through the crowd. Sheamus connected with the Brogue Kick onto Ambrose for the pinfall victory.

I thought that Rollins and Ambrose would leave RAW tonight as the new Tag Team Champions but that wound up not being the case. This match was solid. I like how Samoa Joe has just made it his mission on RAW to piss off Roman Reigns as much as possible. Instead of attacking Reigns again tonight, Joe cost his best friends a shot at retaining the RAW Tag Team Championships.

Matt Hardy Sentenced Bray Wyatt To “Deletion”

Bray Wyatt appeared on the jumbotron but was quickly interrupted by Matt Hardy. The crowd erupted as Matt Hardy appeared to be “Broken”. The two Superstars went back and forth as Hardy responded to everything that Bray Wyatt said.

Matt stated that he has laid dormant inside this vessel called Matthew Hardy but claimed that he has now become “Woken”. Wyatt said that last week was not Matt Hardy’s breaking point and that it was actually his. Wyatt claimed to feel alive again and that his fire will make sure that everyone burns.

Matt then sentenced Bray Wyatt to deletion and Wyatt was shown chuckling. Matt Hardy then started laughing as well and the two went back and forth as the crowd chanted “delete!”.

This was amazing. Matt Hardy has instantly become relevant again in WWE now that he has finally become “Woken”. Bray Wyatt also benefits from this as he is now in an entertaining storyline for once. “Woken” Matt Hardy is off to a great start in WWE and it will fun to see this storyline progress over the next several weeks.

Cesaro goes for a Neutralizer, but Rollins escapes and hits a forearm shot to the face. Cesaro comes back with an uppercut, but Rollins shuts him down with knee to the face. Sheamus runs in and stomps on Rollins as the ref warns him. Ambrose runs in but Sheamus knees him in the face, then goes back to stomping on Rollins. Update On Laurel Van Ness Leaving Impact Wrestling (Spoilers)

9

Last week Squared Circle Sirens broke the news that Impact Wrestling Knockout Laurel Van Ness has requested her release.

A problem with Van Ness asking for her release is that she will be winning the Knockouts Championship on the episode of Impact Wrestling that airs this Thursday. Dave Meltzer noted on Wrestling Observer Radio that Van Ness requested her release on the same night that she won the title at the recent set of TV tapings.

The former WWE Tough Enough competitor, who is currently dating Zack Ryder, probably should have informed management about her desire to leave prior to being crowned the new Knockouts Champion.

It remains to be seen how Impact handles her departure – whether she’s stripped of the gold or if she drops the title at the next set of tapings before being granted her release.

Backstage News On Jim Johnston’s WWE Release

15

Longtime WWE music composer Jim Johnston’s time with the company has come to an end as of last week. WWE has yet to officially announce the release, but a report from Dave Meltzer of Wrestling Observer Radio notes that many people within the company saw it coming and aren’t surprised by it. Johnston reportedly wanted to stay with WWE, however, his contract was much too high to retain.

Since 2012 WWE has been relying more on CFO$ to produce the majority of their star’s themes, thus Johnston’s value to the company depleted. People were expecting Johnston’s time with the company to end once his contract expired. Meltzer noted “it’s the end of an era, but the era kinda ended years ago.”

Johnston had been with WWE for 32 years and has produced themes for legendary stars such as The Undertaker, D-Generation X, The Rock and so many more.

Chris Jericho Talks Losing Film Role To Former WWE Star

1

On a recent episode of former WWE Champion Chris Jericho’s podcast, Talk is Jericho, “Y2J” hosted the stars of Netflix’s GLOW series, Kimmy Gatewood and Rebekka Johnson, as well as trainer, stunt coordinator, and former WWE Cruiserweight Champion Chavo Guerrero.  The group talked about Jericho losing out on a role in the show to a former WWE star, The Miz auditioning for the role as well, and Clint Eastwood watching Jericho’s audition for a role on American Sniper. Here are the highlights:

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=AZqDO6cTYVY

Jericho on losing out on a role in GLOW to Alex Riley:

“I actually set up my little phone in the dressing room in Edmonton [Canada] after a show in a room by myself and I auditioned… Steel Horse, for Steel Horse, and I didn’t get it. And not only I didn’t get it, but Alex Riley got it. He’s about a one on the scale of [pro] wrestling notoriety!”

Chavo Guerrero on The Miz auditioning for the role as well:

“It’s kind of cool because when they were casting this role and a couple of other roles, I was in on it. I was there and it was cool to see because I do a little bit of acting here and there and it was cool to see what they look for.

“Chris did great. Chris did great. I mean, I’d put him over. They were looking at me like, ‘you know these guys, right?’ and I’m like, ‘yes.’ He did great. We had Miz, The Miz auditioned for it. Yeah, yeah, and then Alex and a couple of other people too. We had different people we were doing.

“They all were very good. Everyone did very good, but he took it to the next level. In fact, he came out in a bathrobe and kind of in character, in costume, and they were looking for that.”

Jericho on his audition for a spot in American Sniper in front of Clint Eastwood:

“So my [agent] calls me and he’s like, ‘it’s not Spielberg, but it’s Clint Eastwood. Yes! I went into… Clint [has] got this whole little village of studios and offices. It’s kind of like this, actually, like this record company or group of houses in Warner Bros. lot and I go over there, and I walk inside, and there [are] Clint Eastwood posters all over the wall, and I go in there, and I’m reading my little part, and sitting in the back of the room is Clint Eastwood because he wanted to see me and I don’t have any idea why Clint wants to see you. Maybe he is [a pro wrestling fan]. I didn’t get the part. Thank you, Mr. Eastwood. Like, holy s–t!”

The Original Plans For WWE’s Katie Vick Storyline

14

On a recent episode of former WWE official Bruce Prichard’s podcast, Something To Wrestle With, the WWE’s Survivor Series 2002 pay-per-view (PPV) was reviewed. During the episode, Prichard discussed the infamous Katie Vick storyline that WWE put on, which is widely considered as one of the worst in the company’s history. For those of you who don’t know, Triple H feuded with Kane and would continuously bring up “The Big Red Machine’s” deceased ex-girlfriend, Katie Vick.

At one point Triple H (dressed as Kane) did a segment in which he snuck into a funeral home where Vick’s body was being held and performed necrophilia on it inside a casket. The segment was done in very poor taste and WWE has removed virtually all references to it from their archives. Prichard revealed that WWE originally had planned to introduce Scott Vick, who was Katie’s storyline brother, into the WWE.

Scott went by the name “Sick Boy” in WCW, but was later signed to WWE’s developmental system at the time of the storyline:

“You ever have those moments in your life where there are things that are so traumatic that you block them out entirely? (This) really and truly is one of them on so many different counts. The original idea behind Katie Vick was a way to introduce Scott Vick, who was a part of our developmental system.

“We were going to bring Scott in, and he was going to work with Kane or Triple H, I forget which at this point. Scott just had some really, really horrible dark matches at TV and on the road. When he got the nod to come up to the show, all of his matches from that point going forward just, the bottom fell out. Vince is like ‘What the hell are we doing?”

Apparently Vince McMahon scrapped those plans and the entire storyline was changed:

“So, he changed, and we had already teased the name Katie Vick. So it’s like ‘Ok, let’s change this and move it over to Kane. It can be his girlfriend.’ It was during a time that Vince was big into ‘We need more soap opera, we need more stories behind the characters.’

“So we started creating stories and it came to the story of what if Kane accidentally, didn’t murder her, but was driving and, oh my god, then the drinking and it just grew. It’s another glowing example of ‘Don’t suggest or say things in jest that you don’t want to have show up on the show”

Possible Hint Regarding The Miz & Becky Lynch’s Return To WWE TV

0

WWE Superstars The Miz and Becky Lynch were written of WWE TV a few weeks ago so that they could begin filming for WWE Studios’ The Marine 6: Close Quarters. WWE Hall Of Famer Shawn Michaels is also filming with the two stars.

The Miz was Triple Powerbombed by The Shield through an announce table after suffering an Intercontinental Title loss to Roman Reigns on RAW. Lynch was attacked by the debuting Riott Squad the following night on SmackDown Live. Now the question arrises of how long the pair will miss TV time.

Shawn Michaels may have just answered that question with his recent Tweet from the set alongside The Miz. Michaels noted that the crew finished their first full week of filming and have three weeks to go. A three week mark would put their return around Christmas on the December 25th episode of Monday Night RAW, and the December 26th episode of SmackDown Live:

Actor Stephen Amell Wants The Bullet Club On ‘Arrow’

6

Actor Stephen Amell is no stranger to professional wrestling. He’s appeared on WWE television several times and even wrestled in a tag team match against Cody Rhodes back at SummerSlam 2015. Cody has crossed over into Amell’s universe as well, having a recurring role as Derek Sampson on Amell’s super hero show Arrow.

At the Heroes And Villains Fan Fest in Atlanta over the weekend, Amell expressed an interest in working with Cody Rhodes again. Should Cody return to Arrow, Amell thinks he should definitely “be surrounded by his Bullet Club friends.”

“I’m trying to get those guys to come out to one of these shows, as a group, I think that would be amazing,” Amell said. “Those guys are great. Matt and Nick and Kenny and Cody being the main guys I’ve been able to hang out with. I appreciate anyone that does something in an entrepreneurial spirit. Those guys are really paving their own way.”

Amell continued, “I mean, we would decimate them in one episode. They would be the group that we would foil in act one, and then figure out what the real problem was. If Sampson was to come back on the show, it would only make sense that he would be surrounded by his group of Bullet Club friends.”

Discussion: Do you watch Arrow? Have you seen Cody Rhodes’ appearances on the show?

Injury Update On The Singh Brothers

0

On last week’s episode of SmackDown Live, The Singh Brothers failed to defeat WWE Champion AJ Styles in a 2-on-1 Handicap match. As a result, Jinder Mahal attacked both The Singh Brothers and hit them with the Khallas. Some speculation began going around indicating that one Singh Brother may have been injured during the move as he landed awkwardly on his arm.

That speculation was only furthered when Sunil Singh missed WWE’s house shows this weekend and Samir Singh was wearing a sling. Per a report from Dave Metlzer on his Daily Update, both Singh Brothers are fine and are not suffering from injuries:

“Neither Singh Brother was injured and the one that missed some shows this weekend was also due to a non-injury related matter”

Steve Austin Tries To Stop Fan From Getting A “Stone Cold” Face Tattoo

8

Fans of anything, in general, can be pretty nuts, but WWE fans can take things to a whole other level sometimes. Take this guy for example: an obvious Steve Austin fan Tweeted out the following picture of his sketched forehead with the “Stone Cold” logo before getting the image tattooed on his face:

Austin did his best to try and get the fan not to go through with the tattoo, simply writing “Don’t do it”:

No word yet on if the fan actually went through with it.

IMPACT Helps Matt Sydal Resolve Financial Issues With BCW

5

Over the weekend former WWE star and current IMPACT Wrestling talent Matt Sydal missed two advertised appearances for British Championship Wrestling (BCW) and did not return the booking deposit he received ahead of time. Because of this, BCW went public with the story and announced Sydal no-showed both events without returning said deposit which consisted of $1,200.

Sydal’s manager, Bill Behrens, did return his cut of $300. Earlier today BCW announced on their official Twitter page that the issue has been resolved thanks in large part to the intervention of IMPACT Wrestling:

“We at BCW would like to thank for stepping in and taking control of the situation and can tell you today we received our deposit back in full. They were very professional and helpfull in this situation”

NXT has proven that there is demand for a WWE live events that feature talent other than the ‘main roster’ Superstars of of RAW and SmackDown. It remains to be seen if WWE’s cruiserweights will draw fans to arenas, but we will find out next month.
