WWE Touring India In December

16

WWE will be holding two RAW-brand live events in New Delhi, India in December.

The shows are scheduled for Friday, 12/7 and Saturday, 12/8 at the Indira Ghandi Indoor Stadium. The venue has a capacity of approximately 16,000 people.

That overseas tour kicks off on Thursday, 12/6 with a live event from Abu Dhabi in the United Arab Emirates at the Zayed Sports City Tennis Stadium. Centre court at facility holds approximately 5,000 fans.

WWE has been expanding its presence in India in recent years. Following the WWE Network launching in the country in late 2015, Sheetesh Srivastava was announced as the new Vice President and General Manager of WWE India back in April and WWE Sunday Dhamaal, a  new weekly show in Hindi which premiered back on June 25th on on Sony MAX, India’s top-rated movie channel.

With WWE Champion Jinder Mahal wrestling exclusively for SmackDown Live, it seems logical that he’ll be working this RAW-branded tour.

Roman Reigns Goes Off On Atheist Fan, Mandy Rose Shuts Down Fan At NXT Live Event

73

– A few days ago on Twitter, WWE Superstar Roman Reigns took to Twitter to send out a prayer to those who would be affected by Hurricane Irma. A fan on Twitter responded in a rather rude way, mocking Reigns’ faith in a higher power, which prompted a savage response from “The Big Dog”:

– NXT star Mandy Rose saw a “Will You Marry Me?” sign out in the crowd intended for her during this past weekend’s live event from Toronto, where Rose called the fan up to the barricade before taking his sign and ripping it up. Rose played it off as if she was flattered by the sign at first, showing the sign to the crowd before destroying it to a plethora of boos:

Jinder Mahal Claims He Has Creative Control Over His Character

23

WWE Champion Jinder Mahal recently did an interview with The Times Of India to talk about a variety of professional wrestling topics, including his change in attitude and physique since returning to WWE, the relation to his WWE title reign and the company’s desire to get in on the Indian market, having control over his character creatively, and WWE planning to hold a show in India while he is WWE champion. You can check out the highlights here:

His change of attitude and physique since coming back to WWE:

“The change in attitude means a total change in my way of thinking, the way that I train, the way that I look. And thinking positively, what I do is I write down my goals. Every day I write down that I want to be 10-time World Champion, I write down that I want to have the best body in WWE, so that motivates me every day to train hard and constantly reevaluate myself. You associate yourself with positive people and try to have positive energy. I think that I can be the best WWE superstar then only can be the best WWE superstar.”

The relation between his WWE title reign and the company’s desire to hit the Indian market:

“WWE sees India as huge opportunity and wants to continue to build its base. Personally I am hoping being champion will increase the WWE Universe in India because I know that Indian fans are really passionate and I want to be WWE Champion in India.”

Having creative control over his character:

“I do have creative control but also Vince (McMann) gives advice and ideas and I take them. Vince has experience and he has made the biggest sports entertainment in the history. He has made WWE into a global phenomenon. I have a good relation with Vince, he trusts me on the microphone, with my matches, which will only increase with time. I personally want to seek Vince’s advice.”

WWE planning to visit India soon:

“There is no date confirmed yet, but WWE is working very hard at the moment to conserve a date. I am personally very excited to come to India.”

Sasha Banks: Ronda Rousey Will Never Be On My Level

11

With another WWE appearance scheduled for Tuesday night’s Mae Young Classic finale red carpet event, it’s seeming more and more likely that Ronda Rousey will be competing in a WWE ring sooner than later.

During a recent appearance on the Sam Roberts Wrestling Podcast, Sasha Banks said Ronda Rousey and her Four Horsewomen (Rousey, Mae Young Classic finalist Shayna Baszler, Marina Shafir and Jessamyn Duke) are “just fans” who need to “get to the back of the line” if they want to wrestle WWE’s Four Horsewomen (Sasha, Charlotte, Becky Lynch and Bayley).

“I feel like I keep hearing rumblings of that too, which is cool. It’s awesome, but we are The Four Horsewomen and they’re just fans. Yeah, and if they wanted to fight us, they need to get in the back of the line like everybody else, get a contract, train down at the Performance Center, get on NXT, and try to get called up just like everybody else.”

While Banks considers Rousey an amazing athlete, “The Boss” says Rousey will never be on her level in the ring.

“She’s an amazing athlete. She changed the game.” Banks said, “She’ll never be on my level.”

Samoa Joe Compares Brock Lesnar’s Title Reign To Hulk Hogan’s

9

WWE Superstar and ex-Universal Title challenger Samoa Joe recently did an interview with USA Today’s “For The Win.” “The Destroyer” discussed Brock Lesnar’s title reign on RAW as a part-time talent, which he made an interesting comparison to – WWE Hall Of Famer, and arguably the greatest Superstar in WWE history, Hulk Hogan:

“You go to the Hulk Hogan era reigns, and I definitely didn’t see him on TV every week,” Joe said. “There is a mystique to him not being on TV that much. When he does make appearances, it’s usually for purposeful reasons. That’s been the big theme for Brock. You hear he’s not here, but if you look back at the shows, he’s here when it counts and when I need to get my hands on him. As long as that still happens, I’m good with that.”

UFC Fighter Explains Why Jinder Mahal Was Not In His Corner This Weekend

4

WWE Champion Jinder Mahal was scheduled to walk UFC heavyweight Arjah Bhullar to the Octagon this past weekend at UFC 215, but did not appear. Following his win over Luis Henrique, Bhullar revealed that Mahal was unable to leave Florida due to Hurricane Irma.

“He gave me a call, he’s caught in the hurricane,” Bhullar said. “He lives in Tampa, Florida and he’s like, ‘You know what brother, I got four different properties down here, got me dog down here. I just haven’t been able to make peace and then leave this.’

“So, he decided to bunker down there, so “The Maharaja” got grounded, but I’m thinking of him. I told him stay safe — first and foremost — and we’ll see him in the foreseeable future.”

Big Cass Comments On Enzo Having Backstage Heat

9

RAW Superstar Big Cass was the latest guest on the Sam Roberts Wrestling Podcast. During their discussion, Cass commented on the rumor of his former tag team partner Enzo Amore having backstage heat.

“Enzo is Enzo,” Cass said. “The guy you see on TV is the guy that you see in real life. Enzo wouldn’t be in the spot he’s in, he wouldn’t have made it this far if he didn’t act the way he does, so there is good with the bad.”

When asked if he was distancing himself from Enzo as a result of him being out of favor with WWE management and members of the locker room, Cass said no.

“No, I don’t think so, I don’t think I have distanced myself from him. The storyline has kind of taken on its own thing. Once it started being talked about and people started talking about it on the internet, then they are like: ‘oh really, people talk about it? Well okay, if it’s not real, lets pretend it is real and put it more out there on TV.”

Cass is currently recovering from knee surgery and is not expected to return to the ring until early 2018.

Young Bucks: It Feels Like WWE Is Going To War With Us

9

The Young Bucks (Matt & Nick Jackson) recently spoke with Justin Barrasso of Sports Illustrated to talk about various topics. Here are the highlights:

Adam Cole, Kyle O’Reilly, and Bobby Fish signing with WWE NXT:

“I’m very happy for reDRagon,” said Nick. “Those guys are so good as a team and I think teaming up with Adam will help the three of them become very comfortable in a WWE setting quickly because they’re really close friends.”

“Bobby and Kyle brought something special out of us,” continued Matt. “We became a better team because of the awesome bouts with them. When conversation comes up about our greatest matches, many of those matches we had with Bobby and Kyle are talked about. Also, they’re two great dudes who I love in real life. I hope nothing but the best for them. They deserve all the success in the world. Seeing them stand tall with that zombie was surreal.”

WWE sending them a cease and desist letter:

“They’re bringing people back from the dead,” said Matt Jackson, referring to the arrival of Adam Cole in NXT. “They’re sending out cease and desists written on toilet paper. And now they’ve taken our dear friend Hangman [Adam Page]. If I didn’t know any better, I’d say it felt like they were trying to go to war with us.”

“The WWE apparently can bring people back from the dead,” said Nick Jackson. “That shocked me to my core. I’m very happy for the ghost of Adam Cole though. I hope he makes millions of dollars one day.”

Defending the ROH Six-Man Tag Team Titles at Death to Dishonor:

“The Motor City Machine Guns are probably our greatest rivals ever,” said Matt. “And we look forward to putting these Six Man Titles on the map. Those titles belong to Bullet Club, and we plan to defend them ‘Free Bird Style’. Hangman Page is a young stud who just gets it. He’ll be the talked-about wrestler soon. We have big plans to help with that.”

“Adam Page is so talented and I believe he’s very underrated,” added Nick. “2018 is going to be his year.”

Scott Dawson’s injury:

“I don’t wish injury upon anyone, especially guys trying to provide for their families,” said Matt. “I also love when other teams are creating buzz and making headlines. It makes us strive to be better. But, with all that said, #FTR.”

“I’d actually love to wrestle them one day as a ‘dream match,’” said Nick. “I feel bad for The Revival. I want them to stay healthy and kill it on a huge stage. They deserve a healthy run.”

It’s was the deadliest terrorist attack in world history. We remember those who we lost at the World Trade Center and Pentagon, the passengers aboard American Flight 11, United Flight 175, American Flight 77, United Flight 93 and the brave men and women who sacrificed their lives as first responders.

Jay Lethal On Samoa Joe Wanting Him In WWE, ROH Being #2 Promotion In The World

14

Former Ring of Honor World Champion Jay Lethal was a recent guest on Interactive Wrestling Radio to discuss ROH’s upcoming Death Before Dishonor pay-per-view, his ‘Black Machismo’ Randy Savage tribute gimmick in TNA, working with legends like Hulk Hogan and Ric Flair and more. Here are some highlights of what he said about:

ROH Death Before Dishonor on September 22nd:

“It has been announced that it will be myself against Silas Young in a “Last Man Standing” match. This will be my first ever last man standing match! I’m a little excited, a little nervous. It is live on pay-per-view. Everybody always ups their game for pay-per-views. It is just kind of a wrestling tradition.”

Silas Young being underrated:

“100 percent! That is an understatement. He is definately better than he is given credit for. I hadn’t met Silas until my second time back here (ROH). My second run, as they say, in Ring of Honor after I left Impact Wrestling and came back to Ring of Honor, there were faces that I had to learn. Silas Young was one of those guys. In the ring, I’ve got to tell you, he is one of the guys who represents Ring of Honor well. In the ring, he is literally one of the best wrestlers in the world. He plays the role, he plays it right. I just love everything about him… Even that look! He’s got a unique look with that mustache. I love him. Sometimes I think he was born just a little too late. He’d be a millionaire if he was born just a few years earlier. But, I think he is amazing in the ring.”

What sets ROH apart from other companies:

“The fact that there are no pee breaks or filler matches. I think you have to do that to stand out. With Ring of Honor, it isn’t about the bells and whistles. It isn’t about “This wrestler has the coolest entrance” like Bray Wyat, I think he’s got one of the best entrances ever – cool song. Not taking anything away from that aspect of wrestling. You know, we’re (ROH) not pumping money into our entrances like the other companies do. No reason to play to our weakness there. We’ve got to play to our strengths which means we have to focus our product on the in-ring action. We’ve got to do that from the minute each episode begins to the minute each episode ends. It is the one thing the other companies don’t do. Wrestling is called a soap opera.

The last thing you want to see from a show that is new and innovative, the last thing you want to see is someone in the ring with a microphone saying someone stole his girlfriend when they were in the 3rd grade and he’s going to get revenge and the tables will be turned. We think the minute you turn on that program, we’ve got to give you action to hook you and make you want to sit and watch the entire show and not give you that match, that segment, that break that makes you think, “OK, this is my chance to go pee.” We want you to hold your pee until the show is over! (laughs) That’s what helps us stand out above the rest. Also, we have one of the greatest rosters currently going and for years, Ring of Honor has always had one of the best rosters going. The proof is in the pudding because other rosters constantly pluck from the Ring of Honor roster.. For years! For example, look at WWE. Most of their champions and top guys came through Ring of Honor at one point. Those are the key reasons why Ring of Honor is standing out among all the other wrestling companies out there.”

ROH being the #2 wrestling promotion in the world & Global Force’s financial troubles:

“We are, and I consider Ring of Honor the #2 wrestling company in the entire world. Some people might take this the wrong way. Some people might take this out of context. So, if someone hears this, please listen to the whole thing. With the tought process that you are the #2 wrestling company in the world, you really don’t look under you to see what the #3 wrestling company in the world is doing. You look up to see what the #1 wrestling company in the world is doing so that you can better yourself and not work down. That is in no way a knock on TNA, it is just a logical way of thinking. Take out the company names from the equasion.

The #2 doesn’t look at the #3, they look at the company that is in the #1 spot and that is all I’m saying. With that said, I did work for Impact Wrestling at one time. I had a great time there. They gave me one of the greatest days of my life when I wrestled Ric Flair live on pay-per-view. To see that they are going through such hard times, I don’t get joy from this though some people might think that my thought process would be, “Yeah! This is what they get for letting me go!” No, no, no. I made a lot of great friends, a lot of great relationships from working there many of whom are still there. I have some great friends that just joined there. It hurts to see them going through any down or hard times because as we all have learned, the better each wrestling company does, the better the wrestling business as a whole does.”

Samoa Joe saying he wants Jay Lethal in WWE:

“Samoa Joe is a big bully and he just wants me on the same roster he is so I can carry his bags. (laughs) Joe is amazing! I’ve had very, very, very limited conversations with anyone from the WWE. Neither of whcih lead to anything major or with any kind of promise. Mostly because, I’m extremely happy with where I am right now. I think every wrestler has different goals as to what making it is in wrestling and that will make you persue options a little bit more. I’m extreley happy with everything that I have been able to do in wrestling which makes me extremely happy where I am right now which is in Ring of Honor.”

Speaking to Randy Savage about his “Black Machismo” Character:

“Unfortunately, I did not ask him too much about it because, and this is an interesting story here. I worked a few shows, I wrestled a few shows for a man named Ed Chuman. Ed Chuman would always tell me, “You know, I’m friends with the Macho Man and his brother Lanny. He’d like you to call him. He saw a few clips on YouTube and he’d like you to call him.” I knew Ed Chuman but I guess I didn’t really trust him. I figured, “Sure, he’s trying to get me on the phone with someone who does a good Randy Savage impression like myself so that I’d ask him a bunch of stupid questions.” So, I didn’t believe him. Everytime I’d get to his show, he’d say, “Hey, Randy Savage said that you didn’t call him. He really wants to talk to you.”

So, during the peak of my Black Machismo gimmick, I got booked on a show for Pro Wrestling Syndicate in a match with Lanny Poffo. At the end of the day, I remember he was talking to my parents, he gave them 2 of his books. I pulled him aside and I said, “I’ve been working for this guy named Ed Chuman. He says he knows you and Macho Man. He says he wants me to call him. I don’t believe him. Is this true?” He said, “Oh yeah, we know Ed. But, I don’t know if Randy told him to call. When I get home, I’ll check.” When he said he knew Ed Chuman, I was kind of like, “Oh no, this could be legit.” Literally, when I got home, the next day in my email was Lanny saying “Yeah, that was Randy. He wants him to call him. Here’s his number.” I call him… Right away, I’m a fan now. I’m a fan getting to call his idol. You could tell I was interrupting him. I’d always call at weird times. He’d always go, “Is that right?” The conversations would only last 2 or 3 minutes and he’d say, “Me and my girl are about to go eat.”

Had I known or believed that Ed Chuman had been telling the truth, I’d have called him a long time ago. But Lanny did tell me, “He is a big fan of your character. He doesn’t watch on TV but somehow he did see some of it on YouTube and he is a big fan of it.” That is as far as it went. So, I never got to talk to him about his thoughts. But, Lanny told me that he actually enjoyed the character.”

Jamie Iovine To Serve As Backstage Correspondent At MLW: One-Shot

3

MLW sent in word on Friday that Jamie Iovine will be on hand for the upcoming MLW: One-Shot live event (10/5) from Orlando, FL and will serve as a backstage correspondent. Here’s the official press release:

JAMIE IOVINE JOINS MLW AS BACKSTAGE CORRESPONDENT AND COLLABORATOR

ORLANDO, FLORIDA – Major League Wrestling is excited to announce Jamie Iovine has joined MLW, serving as a backstage correspondent for MLW: One-Shot at Gilt Nightclub on October 5th in Orlando, FL.

MLW: One-Shot will be available to stream and download within 72 hours of the event exclusively at MLW.tv.

In addition to his work as a part of the backstage broadcast for MLW: One-Shot, Jamie will collaborate with MLW on additional projects.

No stranger to MLW, Jamie has been pure fire at MLW’s WaleMania events each year, serving as the DJ for the wildest after party in all of sports.

Born and raised in the City of Angels you could say Jamie Iovine was born into the entertainment industry. Growing up around some of the most influential figures in music and entertainment the knowledge he accumulated over the years you could say is invaluable. Rather than going down the path his father cultivated, Jamie Iovine decided to create his own. With his passions in music, comics, technology, and sports entertainment you could say Iovine is a renaissance man for the new generation of entrepreneur.

As a DJ, Iovine has performed at every major nightclub in Los Angeles/Las Vegas and toured nationally and internationally with the likes of Kaskade, Steve Aoki, Rusko, Eric Prydz and most notably DJ’d for hip-hop heavy weight Puff Daddy at WrestleMania 29 in New York at Madison Square Garden.

While Iovine’s DJ career started to flourish he was given the opportunity to work with top rated consumer electronics brand Beats by Dre. Iovine was featured in a nationwide TV campaign for Beats By Dre that debuted on ABC’s Monday Night Football.

Parleying his relationship with Beats By Dre and World Wrestling Entertainment, Iovine hosted one of the most successful Summer Slam Parties at the Beverly Hilton. Coming off the successes of his Beats by Dre and WWE collaborative event he then decided to take his talents officially to WWE. At the WWE Iovine was the go to backstage producer.

Creating some of the most compelling segments for Monday Night Raw, Smackdown, and WWE.com with the likes of John Cena, The Rock, and Brock Lesnar to name a few. He also worked directly with the Executive Vice President of Talent Paul Levesque aka Triple H on a few projects, which only added to his outstanding track record. Unfortunately all good things must come to an end and so did his time spend at the WWE.

Iovine had to start a new chapter or “edition” in his career. After months of research Iovine found himself with an amazing opportunity to work with and own a piece of the famed Meltdown Comics in Hollywood. Iovine knew this was exactly what he was looking for and signed the deal to become Meltdown Comics Chief Operating and Public relations officer. In his short time at Meltdown, Iovine has already put his footprint with the company. Jamie Iovine has put in the work and his resume and past performance can attest to that, but in his mind he’s only just begun.

This summer, Jamie partnered with Steve Kaye for a residency at Rehab in Las Vegas called: Jamie Iovine at Rehab at the Hard Rock Hotel.

Considered the hottest pool parties of the summer, Jamie collaborated with the likes of Ice Cube for the most interactive, wild and high-energy events you can experience in Las Vegas.

Anthem Exec Talks About GFW’s Streaming Service, Why He Won’t Sell To WWE

21

Ed Nordholm, the Executive Vice President of Anthem Sports and Entertainment, appeared on Wrestling Observer Live on Friday to discuss GFW’s new Global Wrestling Network, an ‘over the top’ streaming service similar to the WWE Network.

Acknowledging that Global Force Wrestling’s troubled financial situation, Nordholm said “We’re invested in this company. We’re growing it. We know it’s not going to turn around tomorrow.”

In addition to GFW and TNA content, the plan is to feature content from GFW’s affiliate promotions, like AAA and NOAH. He even said they’d like to get New Japan content on the Global Wrestling Network, if they can persuade them.  “We’ll have a plan, an efficient place for an aggregation of wrestling content that isn’t related to WWE.”

As for how the pricing structure would work, the are planning to have some content available for free, but “most of the product will be in the pay tier. It’s hard to make the business work in the digital world off an ad-based product. There will be stuff available on the free tier, but you’ll have to go to the pay tier for the archives.”

Regarding the possibility of selling the GFW/TNA tape library to WWE, Nordholm says he knows the value of the content they currently own and he’d rather monetize it himself than sell to Vince McMahon.

“I know full well how the WWE Network would monetize the content and what they could pay for the library. It makes no sense for me to sell it for that kind of price. I’d rather keep it, put it up on the app, and monetize it myself.”

Kassius Ohno to Compete for the ICW World Title

0

Insane Championship Wrestling has just announced a huge bout for their ‘Infamous’ event on September 17th.

NXT superstar Kassius Ohno will be competing against Joe Coffey for the ICW World Heavyweight Championship. ICW and WWE have had a very intriguing business relationship, with Finn Balor, Mick Foley and Noam Dar all having appeared for the company whilst under contract to WWE. This match seems a little more intriguing however, as Ohno is one of NXT’s most prestigious former ‘indie’ guys and he has a history within the UK scene, expect this to be a hard hitting affair.

During RAW Women’s Champion Alexa Bliss’s recent appearance on Lilian Garcia’s Chasing Glory podcast, Bliss discussed her early struggles with promos and how pairing up with Revival member Scott Dawson in promo class at the WWE Performance Center really helped her get more comfortable on the mic.

“I started getting comfortable in promos when I was partnered with Scott Dawson in NXT. It never debuted on TV, but I was playing his girlfriend in promo classes for like a few months and that’s what really kind of got me comfortable with promos because I was out of the box, I was reenacting, I was reacting off of people, you know?”

Footage of Bliss and Dawson as a couple has been circulating online and you can check it out here:

AJ Styles Reveals The Biggest Moment Of His Wrestling Career

3

WWE Superstar AJ Styles recently did an interview with the Hindustan Times to talk about a variety of professional wrestling topics. Styles discussed what he believes to be the biggest moment of his career, the transition from New Japan Pro Wrestling (NJPW) to WWE, and if there’s room from improvement for himself inside the squared circle. Here are the highlights:

The biggest moment of his career:

“My debut in the Royal Rumble was the biggest moment of my career! I was quite overwhelmed by the support shown by WWE fans and that is something I will never forget.”

Transitioning from NJPW to WWE:

“I never changed my style with respect to how my wrestle. The only difference was that WWE has a lot more cameras facing you than the independent circuit, but I think that was just a learning curve that you need to go through and it has really helped me.”

If there’s room for improvement:

“Of course I have room for improvement. Look at a talent like Kazuchika Okada; he is one of the best wrestlers in the world and the kid is not even 30. He has won the IWGP championship at such a young age and when you see a talent like that, it inspires you to work harder.”

Terry Funk Talks Coming Out Of Retirement, His Thoughts On Ric Flair’s Health Issues, More

4

Former NWA World Champion Terry Funk recently did an interview on The Two Man Power Trip Of Wrestling podcast to talk about a variety of professional wrestling topics. Funk discussed how he is feeling physically as he gets ready to come out of retirement for Big Time Wrestling, being able to get back in the squared circle and wrestle Jerry “The King” Lawler again, his past matches with “The King,” the Rhodes/Funk rivalry, Ric Flair, and much more. You can check out the highlights here:

How he feels coming out of retirement:

“How do I feel about it? I feel really great about it and I feel great that I am able to get back into the ring event though I’ve had a little bit of a physical problem. But I feel like I am prepared for it, I’ve worked hard at it and I am back in shape one more time. It is a great card that they’ve got there. I am looking forward to getting into the ring with the Rock N’ Roll Express and also going against Lawler one more time. What an idiot.”

Wrestling Jerry Lawler again:

“I certainly don’t feel blessed to be in there against “The King” because “The King” is nuts. We all know that. Jerry Lawler is as nuts as I am. He is going to try and be going in the ring as long as I’ve gone in the ring. I don’t know if he is going to try and catch up with me or what but Jerry Lawler is truly a legend in his area and his family is a legend and it is a pretty amazing thing.”

His past matches with Lawler being chaotic:

“I’ve never been in anything but a chaotic match with Dusty Rhodes and him. Dusty and Lawler both were over bearing. Dusty and Lawler both, I don’t think I’ve ever called anybody else but those two this, “egg sucking dogs.” That is what both of them are. Jerry Lawler is also a pig. He wants all of the money, he wants everything. That is Jerry Lawler’s way and it is not my way because I am wonderful person and I’m a great guy but Jerry Lawler is not.

“Dusty Rhodes was okay but he couldn’t quite make being a football player and he played behind me the entire time at West Texas (State) and that is why he couldn’t stand me. I was just a little bit better than he was. I’d like to find that idiot kid of his Cody and I’d like to beat the hell out of Cody sometime. That would be a real pleasure. If Cody is around at the arena whenever I get there, I’ll take on Lawler first and I’ll take on Cody after and anybody else too. ”

The reason the Rhodes/Funk rivalry won’t die:

“It was pretty intense and especially in Florida. It was probably the greatest feud in wrestling at that time. All you had to do was put us in the ring and sometimes not even put us in a ring just in the same arena. Same with Lawler, just put us in the same arena and we don’t have to be in a ring together because we will find each other. The people knew we were going to find each other before the night was over. If Dusty was close enough to hear it I’d say: Is that so? But he was too dumb to pick up on it (FATSO).”

“It was just a continuous feud. It went back further than myself with wrestling and it went back to West Texas University and Dusty was playing behind me. He was playing like a second team guard and he could never start at West Texas because I was always ahead of him. I was always so much better than Dusty.”

His 1989 feud with Ric Flair and their matches together:

“That was quite the feud there. It was quite the bitter feud and was a very rough feud to go through with Ric and he certainly didn’t like me at that time and I didn’t like him and we were both trying to be at the top of (World) Championship Wrestling in Georgia and at that time I was much better of a competitor than Ric was but that is my own opinion.”

Flair’s recent health scare:

“I sent my regards to him and I wish him the best. It is very important to me that he comes along and to be very honest with you when you take a look at the old timers there are not many of us that are left and that are headed to the ring. I’d like to see Ric come back and come into the ring and I’d like to go into the ring with him. I really mean that. I’d like to have one more chance and basically I think Ric would like to be in the ring with me too.

“It is just like with Lawler, I am looking forward to this. It is very important to me and I have no intention of anything but coming out on top at the end of the night. It means a great deal to me because if I don’t than I’ll be totally upset with myself because this will probably be the very last time I get in the ring with him.”

How he wants fans to remember him:

“I would like to be remembered, be respected and to be loved by the wrestling fans and to be thought of as giving 100% each time you stepped through the ropes. That means a great deal to me.”
