Booker T Opens Up About His TNA Run & Explains Why He Refused To Put Over Matt Morgan

34

Former WWE World Heavyweight Champion, WWE Hall Of Famer, and Monday Night RAW commentator recently took to his radio show, Heated Conversations, to talk about his run with Global Force Wrestling (GFW) (also known as TNA or Impact Wrestling) and explained why he left, why he refused to put over Matt Morgan, his tenure with the company being like a ‘vacation,’ and much more. You can check out the highlights here below:

His schedule while working with GFW:

“TNA was like a vacation. You know what I mean? That’s why I don’t give it a whole lot of props, man, because it was like a vacation man. It wasn’t like I was really working for that money, man. You know what I mean? I was only working like 50 days a year. I had a two-year contract, you know what I mean. It was in Disney. You know, we went to do the tapings down there, so, I was on the rides half the time when I was supposed to be working. You know what I’m saying. So, it was a nice, nice vacation… It was cool working for TNA. It was great.”

GFW not being very accommodating:

“I remember doing a pay-per-view right here in my own hometown. I was working Samoa Joe, and they wanted me to do media. Go around to all the television stations. I was like, man, I don’t mind doing that. And I remember one of the reps, I ain’t gonna say his name, he called me and he said, ‘Booker. You ready to do the media?’ And I go, ‘Yeah. I’m ready. I’ll text you my address.’ He goes, ‘No, just meet me at this hotel.’ It was right off the southwest freeway. And I live in Friendswood, so he wanted me to drive out there, about a 45-minute drive.

“He wanted me [to] meet him, and we go on all the media tour. I go ‘What you driving?’ and he goes, ‘I have a rental car.’ And I go, ‘I ain’t going nowhere in no rental car, and I ain’t gonna come out there when it should be a rental car coming to my house and pick me up!’ I say, that’s not gonna happen, so he goes, ‘Let me make a phone call.’

“So he calls the office, the office calls me. They say ‘Book. What’s going on? I heard you don’t want to go do the media.’ [I told them], ‘I don’t mind going to do the media, but I’m not driving.’ I said someone should come pick me up. The guys goes, ‘Well, you got some nice cars, don’t you?’ I go, ‘Yeah I got some nice cars. I got five of them. And a Winnebago. And they all gonna stay at home.’ I say, come on man. Every time I had a talent from TNA come to Reality of Wrestling, the flagship of Texas Wrestling, every time I’ve had one come down, they’ve all got limo treatment.

“Picked up at the airport. Brought to the arena. Took back to the hotel, they got a basket in the room. With all kind of fruits and Red Bulls and all kind of stuff in it. And you guys are a major company and you want me to drive myself around? I’m like, come on. Come on. That’s not the way you do business. And I really think that’s one of the reasons why TNA is in the dire straits that they are [now].”

Why he refused to put over Matt Morgan:

“I remember doing a pay-per-view right here in my own hometown. I was working Samoa Joe, and they wanted me to do media. Go around to all the television stations. I was like, man, I don’t mind doing that. And I remember one of the reps, I ain’t gonna say his name, he called me and he said, ‘Booker. You ready to do the media?’ And I go, ‘Yeah. I’m ready. Report: Former ROH Champion Signs With WWE

16

3-time Ring of Honor World Champion and former Bullet Club member Adam Cole has signed with WWE, as first reported by PWInsider. Cole is scheduled to begin training at the WWE Performance Center this week and will be joining the NXT brand.

With NXT Takeover: Brooklyn taking place this Saturday night, don’t be surprised if Cole is shown sitting ringside as WWE has done with past NXT signings. Cole is joining a stacked NXT men’s singles division, which includes NXT Champion Bobby Roode, Aleister Black, Hideo Itami, Johnny Gargano, Kassius Ohno, Roderick Strong and many others.

During an appearance on Live Audio Wrestling back in May, Cole spoke about being a free agent and not wanting to rush into any decisions about the next chapter of his career.

“For me, I don’t want to have anything that I’m second-guessing. I want to totally make sure, this is the decision I want to make, this is where I want to go, this is what I want to do. And for me, that does take some time because, again, a lot of people think this is just some easy, okay you just make your decision and you go, it’s not. My entire life could potentially change so this is definitely something that I need to sit back and think about, talk to the people that I’m closest with and decide what is best for me, what is best for Adam Cole.”

Photos: Kurt Angle & Jason Jordan Embark On Father-Son Media Day In Boston

3

Earlier this year, one of the hottest storylines on Monday Night RAW was General Manager Kurt Angle’s ‘secret’ that he was keeping under wraps for weeks alongside commentator Corey Graves. It was finally revealed by Angle himself that the secret looming over him the past few weeks was the fact that he discovered he had an illegitimate son from his college days. As for who his son is, it turns out it was none other than former SmackDown Live Tag Team Champ Jason Jordan.

For the past couple of weeks Jordan has been establishing himself as a singles competitor as he attempts to climb his way up the ladder on Monday Nights, however, he claims to want to do it without ‘special treatment’ from his father. RAW will be live from Boston, Massachusetts tonight (Mon. August 14, 2017) and both Angle and Jordan took to Twitter to post photos of their ‘#fatherson’ media day this morning to promote tonight’s show:

Alexa Bliss Discusses Having Legitimate Heat With Sasha Banks

13

RAW Women’s Champion Alexa Bliss was the latest on ESPN’s Cheap Heat Podcast and spoke to hosts Peter Rosenberg and Stat Guy Greg about Sunday’s WWE SummerSlam pay-per-view.

Tonight on RAW, Sasha Banks and Nia Jax will square off to determine who will challenge for the gold this Sunday. During her conversation on Cheap Heat, Alexa revealed that she and Sasha Banks do not have the best relationship when the WWE cameras stop rolling, but she’s a professional and does not let that affect their work in the ring.

“I’ve always been the person to say ‘business is business, personal is personal.’ I will never let my personal feelings about somebody get in the way of business”, she said.”

“I want to have a productive match, I want to have a safe match, I want to have a great match; I want to take this company to the next level with our women with this WWE women’s revolution. I’ve seen the things she said about me. If that’s how she feels, that’s fine. But we know that we put it to the side and have a productive, professional match because that’s what it’s all about.”

Matt Sydal On Helping Start “RKO Outta Nowhere”

2

Matt Sydal (better known as Evan Bourne in WWE) and former WWE Champ Randy Orton put on one of the craziest spots in WWE history when the pair shared the ring together. Once Sydal attempted to go “Air Bourne,” Orton popped up off the canvas quickly to deliver what is known today as an “RKO Outta Nowhere” and sent the WWE Universe into a frenzy. It was this spot in particular that really kicked off the “RKO Outta Nowhere” movement, and Sydal recently spoke to Sportskeeda to talk about the iconic moment:

“The hardest thing to do in wrestling is that every time you show up, there’s just a ring with three ropes, turnbuckles on each side, it’s extremely hard to do something to surprise and shock the fans” Sydal recalled.

“So, I can’t tell you the mentality behind the stuff, because that’s thousands of hours manifested into one moment, maybe in the shower or driving down the road that the idea comes and the genius strikes and sometimes, it happens moments before you go to the ring.”

“I’m glad I got to do the spot with Randy Orton because we started a sensation called ‘Outta Nowhere’ and people love it when that happens. However, I do hate taking a belly flop on the shooter, it is really painful and yeah, it’s a sore spot but I’m glad people enjoy it. Once the art is made, it’s up to the fans to enjoy the fruits of my labor.”

Ric Flair Undergoing Surgery, In A Medically Induced Coma

6

Update (2:30pm EST, 8/14): A WWE spokesperson (via TMZ) says that Flair is in a medically induced coma and is undergoing surgery this afternoon.

WWE Hall of Famer Ric flair remains hospitalized in Atlanta, Georgia, where’s he’s been since Saturday. An initial statement from Flair’s agent, Melinda Morris Zanoni, noted that he was undergoing routine monitoring. According to local media reports, Flair is dealing with heart-related issues and. On Monday, Zanoni implied that Flair’s condition had worsened and asked for everybody’s prayers and good energy.

Dave Meltzer commented on the Flair’s condition on the f4wonline.com message board. “Charlotte was well aware of everything while in China, that much I know. She was one of the few.  Must have been a turn for the worst. I was pretty concerned when I heard nothing all day, was just too long since I heard from anyone.”

In his 2004 autobiography, Flair wrote about having a heart condition related to alcohol consumption.  “Through my many years of partying, I also developed something called “alcoholic cardiomyopathy,” a weakening of the heart muscles,” Flair wrote on page 304. “I first detected that there was something wrong when my heart began skipping beats. I went to a cardiologist friend who told me that when your heart pumps, it expands like a rubber band. But mine was doing it too much. Initially, I thought that steroids might be responsible, but the doctor dismissed this theory. My heaert was fluttering from thirty-fivbe years of hitting it hard.

WWE producer Michael Hayes visited Flair in the hospital on Sunday and also asked for people to keep Ric Flair in their thoughts and prayers.

The wrestling world is obviously shaken by the news, with several past and present WWE performers showing their support for the one-and-only Nature Boy.

Alberto El Patron Stripped Of GFW Championship

30

Global Force Wrestling provided an update on Alberto El Patron’s suspension on Monday. As a result of the airport incident with Paige from last month (and other backstage incidents, the details of some which have not been publicized), Alberto has been stripped of the GFW World Championship.

Here’s the official statement:

“GFW has concluded its internal consideration of the events surrounding the suspension of Alberto El Patron. While it is apparent that initial reports unfairly characterized El Patron’s involvement in the incident in the Orlando airport, we are nonetheless disappointed with the manor in which he dealt with this situation; we expect more decorum from all on the GFW roster, especially the World Champion.

We have communicated with El Patron our decision to strip him of his championship title. No decision has been taken as to the date on which he will be reinstated to the roster, the conditions of which are a private matter between the company and El Patron.”

GFW presents a live ‘Destination X’ edition of Impact Wrestling on Thursday. This weekend, the company will tape nearly 3 months of television, so a resolution to this matter was expected this week.

In light of the news, former TNA World Champion Bobby Lashley is already staking his claim to the vacant GFW title.

WWE RAW Preview (8/14): Last Episode Before SummerSlam 2017

13

The August 14th, 2017 edition of WWE RAW airs live from the TD Garden in Boston, MA, and is the last episode of RAW before WWE SummerSlam 2017. Join us tonight at 8 PM ET for live play-by-play RAW coverage and discussion.

At least one SummerSlam match will be made tonight as Sasha Banks and Nia Jax will face each other to determine who gets a shot at Alexa Bliss’ Womens Championship at the pay-per-view.

Here are the top storyline items WWE is promoting for tonight’s show on their official website:

Every woman for herself: Bayley’s out of contention with a separated shoulder, and so Raw Women’s Champion Alexa Bliss will now field one of two challengers at SummerSlam: Sasha Banks, who The Huggable One is vocally backing as her replacement, or Nia Jax, who has become Little Miss Bliss’ ally as part of “Team Rude.” The two Superstars meet Monday in a win-and-you’re-in match, with the victor earning a date with Bliss in Brooklyn. Jax has the edge when it comes to pure power, and Bliss would seemingly prefer to fight a friendly face, but does Sasha have one more big win up her sleeve?

Joe is gonna get you: One way or another, Samoa Joe always gets his man. After being pinned by Roman Reigns for the first time ever in a Triple Threat Match two weeks ago, The Samoan Submission Machine cost The Big Dog a Last Man Standing Match against Braun Strowman on Monday when he trapped Reigns in a Coquina Clutch that put him down for the count of 10. With all three of those Superstars slated to challenge Brock Lesnar for the Universal Title at The Biggest Event of the Summer, Joe has suddenly surged in momentum, and it’s anyone’s guess as to who will head into SummerSlam with the biggest head of steam.

Mizzed opportunity: Brock Lesnar turned The Miz and his Miztourage into lunch meat this past Monday on “Miz TV,” but lost in all that commotion was why The Awesome One held Raw hostage in the first place: He wanted another piece of Jason Jordan, who embarrassed him the previous week on his signature talk show. Kurt Angle’s gold-blooded son was seen elsewhere dismantling a local named Jean-Pierre Goulet, but perhaps The A-Lister will have better luck this time around in getting what he wants.

Face your fear: Bray Wyatt made one of his boldest declarations to date just moments before their SummerSlam bout was formally sanctioned, promising to drag down Finn and his followers. With one week to go until The Biggest Event of the Summer, how will Bálor respond?

Brothers on the mend: After leaving Seth Rollins high and dry against Cesaro & Sheamus, Dean Ambrose finally seemed to come around to The Kingslayer’s redemptive crusade when his former brother rescued him from a joint beatdown by the Raw Tag Team Champions. This time, however, it was Rollins who denied the traditional Shield fist bump, leaving The Lunatic Fringe hanging. How will Ambrose attempt to save face, and will the former Shield-mates finally reunite in earnest?

  • Remember to join us tonight at 8 PM ET for RAW coverage, and sound off in the comments with your predictions for tonight’s RAW and Sunday’s SummerSlam pay-per-view!

15

When WWE announced that John Cena will be returning to WWE TV as a ‘Free Agent’ many believed he will be appearing on both Raw and SmackDown Live frequently.

However, it’s been more than a month since Cena returned to WWE programming, but his ‘Free Agent’ status has yet to come into play and so far he has only been appearing on SmackDown Live.

Though it appears that WWE will finally be utilising this setup in near future. As we noted before, Cena is expected to return to Raw after SummerSlam and now a potential date for his Raw return has also been announced.

Barclays Centre, the official venue for the August 21st episode of Raw has announced that the Leader Of Cenation will be appearing on the show. The announcement was made through a tweet which can be seen below:

It’s still not revealed if Cena’s appearance on the mentioned Raw episode will be Televised. Though it’s most likely as he is expected to appear regularly on the Red Branded Show after the upcoming PPV, and the post-SummerSlam episode of Raw will be the perfect stage for his Televised Raw return.

It’s not known currently who will the former Champion feud with when he moves to Raw. Although John Cena vs. Samoa Joe is being advertised for several upcoming shows and it shouldn’t be a surprise if we see these two stars feuding in near future.

Jay Lethal On Learning From Samoa Joe, Training AJ Lee, If WWE Has Ever Contacted Him

17

Jay Lethal was recently interviewed by Cult of Whatever and below are some highlights from the interview:

On being in ROH with Samoa Joe, CM Punk and Daniel Bryan at the same time:

“At that time and it still is, Ring of Honor was a big accomplishment for me, they are known all around the world, they didn’t have the television that other companies had but they had talent like Samoa Joe, CM Punk, Daniel Bryan, Austin Aries, Christopher Daniels…that is probably the greatest wrestling roster in the history of wrestling rosters.

Calling my matches with Samoa Joe and CM Punk a learning experience would be an understatement. It was me going to a full year of school within one match, those guys were at the top of their game then and now. They have never really slowed down other than Punk stopping wrestling and Daniel forced to stop.

Joe taught me more than anybody could ever imagine and more than anybody would know.”

Training AJ Lee:

“That was interesting, when she trained she was pretty much the only girl in her class and the smallest, everybody else towered over her so I’m sure that didn’t make the classes any easier.

As she went on to become the longest reigning women’s champion in WWE to say I had any help or aid in doing that is cool but I think once she got pulled into the WWE system they show you how to do things their way which I’m sure is the total opposite of the way I did it.”

On if WWE has ever contacted him:

“No, I’ve never had any talks with WWE, as far as would I one day like to wrestle for WWE, my love for professional wrestling when I was a young kid was created and developed by my love for the WWF at the time now WWE.

I definitely think it would be cool at some point in my career to step foot inside a WWE ring, and I could say I wrestled for the company that helped shape my love for this business. If it happens it happens but it won’t be the end of the world if it doesn’t happen.”

Jay Lethal also discussed who he still wants to face in professional wrestling and much more. You can check out the entire interview by clicking here.

Frankie Kazarian Talks Christopher Daniels’ ROH World Title Win, AJ Styles & Samoa Joe

2

Former Ring of Honor World Tag Team Champion Frankie Kazarian recently spoke with The Wrestling News Hub about various topics including his friendship with AJ Styles and Samoa Joe as well as Christopher Daniels winning the ROH World Title from Adam Cole at the ROH 15 Anniversary pay-per-view event in March. Here are some of the highlights:

Christopher Daniels winning the ROH World Title earlier this year:

“First and foremost, I was very, very proud of the entire angle, and how we were able to hook everybody and pull the wool over everyone’s eyes, which is hard to do these days in the professional wrestling landscape. That was great and everyone played their part so well. The Young Bucks and Adam Cole. Everyone played their part so well. The night Chris won the title I was right there with him and it was as though I had won the title myself. How much he has given this business, if people only knew they would be astonished, and I know it was something he wanted for so long and worked so very hard for. It was like imaging two guys who were actors that came up together, and one gets nominated for an Academy Award, you are going to be happy for them, it’s the pinnacle. For him to be the Ring of Honor World Champion meant so much to him because of his pedigree there. It was just a great night, one of the better nights of my career. I am very happy for him and so very happy the angle came off the way that it did. Everyone enjoyed the match, and everyone enjoyed the way the angle came off. It was just a really, really good night for me and my career.”

His friendship with AJ Styles and Samoa Joe:

“We just make it work. You would be hard pressed to find four guys that were closer than AJ, Joe, Daniels, and I; we have been through a lot together. From our time in TNA and being there from day one, and just all the ebbs and flows and ups and downs that each guy has gone through, great times and hard times, and being there for each other and having each other’s backs, and then wars in the ring whether it be on the same side or against each other. It creates a unique bond. I can’t really put it into words. We have such a strong bond, and no matter how much time passes, when you see each other and when you talk on the phone you are right back to where you started. I could go months without seeing Joe and AJ, but when we do get together it’s like it was five minutes. I am blessed and fortunate to have a bond with three guys that I have known many years. They are the best friends I could ask for. For me, it was real easy, and I have a lot of really good friends, but those are the guys that I will communicate with until they throw dirt on me. It is pretty simple because that bond is so strong.”

Former Knockouts Champion Leaves Global Force Wrestling

12

Angelina Love is gone from Global Force Wrestling.

The former Knockouts Champion announced via Twitter that she requested her release from GFW and it was granted today.

This comes after GFW granted her husband, Davey Richards, his release last month so that he could pursue a medical career.

One of the founding members of the Knockouts division, Angelina started with the company in 2007. She would go on to form The Beautiful People with Velvet Sky and hold the Knockouts Championship a record-tying six times (along with Gail Kim). In January, she returned to the company for her fifth stint by aligning herself with Richards in a feud with Eddie and Alisha Edwards. The feud ended last month at Slammiversary XV, with Eddie and Alisha beating Davey and Angelina in a Full Metal Mayhem Match.

Potential Spoiler On A Former WWE Star Debuting On Impact Wrestling

22

It looks like John Hennigan (aka John Morrison and Johnny Mundo) will debut on Impact Wrestling in the near future.

The former WWE Superstar was scheduled to appear at StocktonCon 2017, an annual pop culture convention taking place on August 19 and 20 at the Stockton Arena in Stockton, California. However, due to his contractual agreement with Global Force Wrestling, he is now unable to attend the event.

StocktonCon made the announcement earlier this week on Twitter.

It was then announced that Melina Perez, Hennigan’s ex-girlfriend, will appear at StocktonCon 2017.

StocktonCon 2017 coincides with GFW’s next set of Impact Wrestling tapings, which takes place August 17 through August 20 at Universal Studios Florida in Orlando.

Hennigan appeared for GFW last weekend at non-televised live events in the Tri-state area. In his debut on August 5, he teamed with James Storm and Moose to defeat Ethan Carter III, Lashley, and Eli Drake in Staten Island, New York. He teamed with Storm and Moose again the following day in Bridgeport, Connecticut, beating Carter, Lashley and Low Ki.
