WWE’s 6’5″ Female Recruit (Video), Goldust Warns Against Dusty Merchandise, Hardy-Angle

– Goldust took to Twitter to call out people that are selling merchandise of his late father, Dusty Rhodes. Goldust threatened to take legal action if people continue to sell merchandise that is not licensed by the WWE.

WWE: ‘5 People That Could Replace Mick Foley As Raw General Manager’

31

The WWE recently posted an article and listed 5 people that could replace Mick Foley as Raw GM. Foley was fired from the position on this past week’s episode of Monday Night Raw. Here are the names included on the list.

Eric Bischoff

Bischoff has already played the role of Raw GM before. It didn’t end well for him, as he was fired and thrown into the back of a garbage truck. Eric Bischoff will be inducting Diamond Dallas Page into the WWE Hall of Fame during Wrestlemania weekend. Bischoff returning to weekly television as the Raw GM is pretty unlikely.

 Stone Cold Steve Austin

Stone Cold and Vince McMahon have quite the history. While it would be entertaining to see Austin, Stephanie McMahon Triple H have a power struggle on Raw every week, it most likely will not happen. Austin has a very successful podcast and hosts a reality show. Austin has been Co-General Manager with Eric Bischoff and even played the role of CEO for a brief period of time.

Jim Cornette

There is absolutely no chance in hell that this would ever happen. It is borderline miraculous that Jim Cornette is even a part of Wrestlemania weekend this year. Cornette also hosts a very successful podcast, in which he often mercilessly bashes the WWE product and the performers involved in the company. I think this would easily be the most entertaining Raw GM but this would never happen. Jim Cornette will inducting the Rock ‘n’ Roll Express into the WWE Hall of Fame. Cornette has often bashed the WWE Hall of Fame in the past and claimed that the WWE Hall of Fame is just another marketing creation by Vince McMahon. It will no doubt be must-see television when Cornette inducts the Rock ‘n’ Roll Express during Wrestlemania 33 weekend.

Edge

This one is intriguing. Edge would be an interesting Raw GM and would certainly challenge Triple H and Stephanie McMahon on their shenanigans. I can’t imagine that Edge would want to return to the weekly travel grind that is professional wrestling to play a fictional general manager. However, if he was to be the next Raw GM I think it would be a solid choice. Edge & Christian also have a podcast that launched today. Their first guest was WWE Universal Champion Goldberg and you can check that out by clicking here.

Kurt Angle

Out of all the names on this list, this one seems the most likely. Angle has made it known that he wants to wrestle again in the WWE and is being inducted into the WWE Hall of Fame during Wrestlemania weekend. Behind the scenes, Angle and the WWE have had a rocky relationship over the years. The WWE might be hesitant to have Angle return to the ring right away and would want to make sure he is 100% healthy if they chose to do so. Angle as the Raw GM makes perfect sense because it introduces Angle back to the WWE Universe and allows the WWE to build a storyline that hopefully will lead to the in-ring send-off that Angle deserves.

AJ Styles Comments On Goldberg-Lesnar Main Eventing WrestleMania, Heyman Inks Deal With ‘NASCAR’ Raceway

74

– Paul Heyman and Emmy Award winner Mitchell Stuart’s Looking 4 Larry agency has inked a deal with the Richmond International Raceway to handle the track’s marketing and promotion. The first race under this new partnership will be September’s ‘Monster Cup’ NASCAR race.

Heyman spoke with FOX Sports about how his agency plans to build awareness for the Richmond International Raceway. “The availability online and on mobile for instant gratification has created an environment in which marketing and promoting singular events in 2017 has proven to be a real uphill battle,” Heyman said. “Today’s customer base wants a multi-day interactive experience that can provide not just one, but a great number of experiences.

Heyman continued, “The Richmond International Raceway is routed in tradition, and at the same time they are looking to break ground and push forward with a brand new way to market and promote this profoundly fan-friendly sport. All puns intended, I think they are already way ahead of the curve. Our job is get them across the finish line!”

For more on this deal, check out Damon Martin’s exclusive over at FOXSports.com.

– During an interview with the Gorilla Position podcast, AJ Styles commented on the fact that Goldberg vs. Brock Lesnar will most likely be the final match at WrestleMania 33. Styles would obviously prefer to be working the main event himself, but understands why WWE is featuring the Universal championship match on top.

“Goldberg and what Brock and him have done together, has made sure people are gonna come and watch WrestleMania,” Styles said. “They want to see this match. And if they come to see them, they also have to come to see me. And now I will have an opportunity to impress them, while they’re there. And I will make AJ fans, or Shane fans out of them.”

Kenny Omega Interview: NJPW to Los Angeles, Shoulder Injury, More

1

Kenny Omega was interviewed recently by NJPW1972.com, the promotion’s new english language website. The website has been part of a recent surge of attention NJPW has been giving to promote their product to english speaking countries, most notably in the United States.

The most notable move the company has made to break into the American market however, has been their decision to hold part of their annual G1 tournament in Los Angeles this summer.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BE0jms-zvs4

Kenny Omega Interview

“Coming to America is cause for celebration! But what would make people party the longest, hardest and loudest would be watching me in the main event wearing the IWGP Heavyweight Championship.” – Kenny Omega

NJPW have referred to WWE’s recent string of signing Asian and European based talent as a “global takeover”. Others have compared it to when Vince McMahon bought up or raided all the territories in the 1980s, but on a global scale. NJPW heading to America could be seen as a reaction to WWE’s current strategy.

Other notable Kenny Omega quotes from the interview:

On shoulder injury:

“You know, I really wanted to keep that injury secret. I didn’t want to tell anyone about it before the [New Japan Cup] match… I didn’t even want to tell anyone after the match either! Because if I said anything after the match, they’d say I was making excuses.”

On recent losses to CHAOS members Kazuchika Okada and Tomohiro Ishii:

Does CHAOS know something about me? My weakness? How is it that Okada beat me after I gave it my all, and then Ishii as well? It blows my motherfXXXking mind! So what I need to do is go on a quest, a search for what I am lacking. What is Kenny Omega’s weakness!? That’s what I need to find next!

The full interview can be read here.

Kyle O’Reilly Heading to EVOLVE, Triple H Has “No Doubt” He’ll Wind Up In WWE

5

It’s been a big week for Kyle O’Reilly. The former Ring of Honor world champion was praised by Triple H on a recent conference call, and was interviewed by Sports Illustrated. O’Reilly has also been announced as joining the Evolve roster starting next month.

While little is known regarding the details of his agreement with Evolve, one can probably assume it is a flexible deal that O’Reilly could break if the WWE came calling.

Kyle O’Reilly is a Very Good Wrestler

O’Reilly finished off 2016 by defeating Adam Cole for the Ring of Honor world championship. He started off 2017 by losing that same title back to Adam Cole inside the Tokyo Dome at WrestleKingdom. It seemed as though O’Reilly was WWE bound after leaving ROH, but that doesn’t appear to be the case. Not yet, anyway.

Many wrestlers are opting not to sign with ROH or Impact at the moment, as such deals would prevent them from signing with WWE. With WWE now interested in signing indie talent, many are choosing to stay away from unbreakable contracts. O’Reilly may fall into that mix.

Triple H made it clear O’Reilly is on their radar recently on a media conference call:

“I have no doubt that (O’Reilly) will end up in the WWE at some point and time,” Triple H stated when asked about the 30 year old from British Columbia.

“I think it just comes down to where he’s at and his availability and where we’re at with our availability to work with him. “

By signing with Evolve instead of Ring of Honor, O’Reilly is likely keeping his WWE availability open. Triple H added,

“I hope those two worlds collide very soon because I’d love to have him.”

Impact Wrestling Results and Highlights

Impact Wrestling
March 23rd 2017
Orlando, FL

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cvlq-dw9FLI

1. Davey Richards w/Angelina Love vs. Suicide

The lone wolf picked up a near squash match level victory here, and then made out with Angelina Love for a bit. Not a bad day’s work for Richards.
Winner: Davey Richards

Laurel Van Ness has yet to wash her face or change out of her wedding dress now for multiple weeks. Her sanity is being tested after her disastrous attempt at a wedding.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=b9ngflchHmg

2. Fallah Bath, Idris Abraham and Mario Bokara vs. Laredo Kid, Garza Jr and Shera

A lot of new faces in this match, but for the second week in a row Laredo Kid and Garza Jr. from the Crash Lucha Libre promotion pick up the win. Fallah Bahh and Mario Bokara are the Monster Factory tag champs and made their Impact debut here. Bahh is from the Philippines and goes with a a bit of a sumo gimmick, while Bokara is from Croatia. Idris Abraham is from Michigan but they played up his Egyptian roots as this match served as a showcase for how “global” Impact is.
Winners: Laredo Kid, Garza Jr and Shera

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Hk_TWwL1Qns

3. Reno Scum vs. Decay

The tag team division continues to take centre stage in Impact, as the company looks to move on from the Hardys (whilst making it more difficult for the Hardys to move on from Impact). Reno Scum pick up an upset victory here, defeating the former tag team champions. Based on how they’ve been used since the Jarretts took over, things are looking good for Reno Scum.
Winners: Reno Scum

4. Moose vs. Eli Drake

Moose is back from his Pro Wrestling NOAH trip, but he never got the chance to wrestle here. Cody, who has been challenging Moose in recent weeks, took the opportunity to attack Moose from behind with a chair, and leave him laying with the Cross Rhodes.
Result: No Contest (Cody attacked Moose pre-match)

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7Yp_SXuXle8

5. LAX w/Konnan vs. DCC

More action in the tag team division as the returning LAX (Homicide and Diamante wrestled here) defeated Bram and James Storm from the DCC. LAX could be considered top favourites to become the new Impact tag team champions shortly. If they do win the titles don’t expect them to defend the belts against a team from AAA however, Konnan made that fairly clear on Twitter earlier this week.
As for DCC, Storm ended up arguing after the match with Bram and Kingston, which could be an indication their faction is not long for this world.
Winners: LAX

6. ODB vs. Rebel

Knockouts division action here, with two former members of the division returning in this match. ODB took advantage of some shenanigans between Earl Hepner and Rebel however, which allowed her to pick up the victory. As such, she moves a little bit closer to title contention.
Winner: ODB

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4acMgSeThHI

7. Bobby Lashley vs. Jake Holmes

Despite losing the title a couple of weeks ago, Bobby Lashley is still the Impact Wrestling champion. He took apart Jake Holmes here in squash match style. Alberto El Patron is waiting in the wings for a future title shot however.
Winner: Bobby Lashley

The main segment to close out the show was Karen Jarrett returning, and her slapping Josh Mathews. She did not directly fire Josh however, so he might still be on commentary next week.

Stephanie McMahon Talks About Growing Up In Wrestling, When She Got “Smartened Up,” How The Business Has Evolved

34

Peter Rosenberg of WWE, ESPN & Hot 97 is back with another big interview in the lead-up to WrestleMania weekend. After speaking with WWE COO Triple H earlier this week, Chief Brand Officer and RAW commissioner Stephanie McMahon was a guest on the latest installment of the Cheap Heat Podcast. On a side note, Rosenberg mentioned that he’ll be filming another episode of Bring it to the Table from WrestleMania weekend in Orlando, FL.

Here are some highlights of what Stephanie McMahon said about:

Did she always know she wanted to be part of WWE?

“I guess it’s never just ‘the family business’ when it’s WWE. Yes, I have always wanted to be part of it all my life. Not only have I been a fan growing up, but it was also a way for me to be with my family. My parents were busy building this business when I was growing up and I really had a pretty amazing childhood. All I ever wanted to do was be with them and be a part of it. I never really considered everything else.”

The WWE personalities she remembers having a bond with as she was younger:

“I think you learn from everyone all the time. Especially when you are younger, you learn without realizing you’re learning. Even just watching our show, in terms of watching matches, I found myself studying them and studying the reactions. I always had a strong affinity for the heels, as you can imagine. The integral role they play in helping to create the babyface and just how important that role is. The psychology of it and how everybody would respond.

But in terms of people around me, and I know my brother would say this name as well, is Pat Patterson. He was really my dad’s booking partner, which in wrestling, you book, you book your attractions then you build the storyline around those attractions. Very rarely does it happen where it’s the storyline first, though it does work that way sometimes. Pat was very influential in my life. Of course, my father and my mother [were strong influences]. My brother just stretched me every chance he got, so I guess I got to learn from that. There were so many incredible influences around me.

It’s so interesting from my perspective. I knew all these great big tough guys as a little girl and they always treated me differently. I remember Harley Race, one of the toughest competitors ever, one of the toughest people ever, period. When my first daughter was born, I was told by his wife that he went and personally hand picked a pair of earrings for my baby girl.

You look at the Grand Wizard Ernie Roth, who was quite the character in his heyday, and I grew up knowing him as Uncle Ernie. [Laughs] I learned what ribs were and I learned how to take them. I learned how these incredible people were part of this business, not only were they larger than life on-screen personalities, but they were these incredible people behind the scenes in their everyday lives. They were so fascinating. All different walks of life. Growing up, I was exposed to so much and so many types of people, it sort of gives you a different perspective.

Does she remember ever being “smartened up” to the business?

“I sort of smartened myself up. I do remember when I learned carny though. It was actually Pat’s [partner] at the time, Louie Dondero, who taught me carny by the pool when I Pat was booking with my dad. Oh my god, were my dad and brother upset when I learned carny at about 8 years old, because then they could no longer say things that they didn’t want me to understand around me. It was pretty awesome, I loved it. My oldest daughter is always trying to learn carny and she thinks she knows how to speak it, but she doesn’t, and hopefully we won’t be smartening her up any time soon.”

How the business has evolved from previous eras:

“I’m blown away every day in WWE because it grows at such a rapid rate. Our fans suspend their disbelief. It’s no different from a movie or television show. It’s not like in the 80’s when my dad coined the phrase ‘sports entertainment’ and everybody freaked out like, ‘You’re going to kill the business.’ No, he’s going to make the business bigger than it’s ever been before. But he had to prove that out and I certainly understand people being scared of that.

If you look at what the business has become, and it takes all those things, proliferating platforms, it takes digital and social media, launching your own susbsciption service, and also having having traditional linear television product, all of these business models, it takes this incredible executive team that we have as well as these incredible talents.

I think the talent themselves have evolved. Not only are they incredible athletes but they are also businessmen and women and they recognize that they are their own individual brands. They take every advantage, well, the smart and successful ones do, take every advantage to build their brand and their connection to the audience because they recognize that if they do that, it only enhances their popularity and what they mean to the WWE Universe.”

Stephanie also spoke at length about WWE’s charity work and community service efforts.

Sinclair Broadcast Group Acknowledges ROH Sale Rumors, Christopher Daniels Comments

9

As you probably heard earlier this week, WWE has been in talks with Sinclair Broadcasting Group regarding a potential sale of Ring of Honor. The news was first reported by Pro Wrestling Sheet and now Ring of Honor has issued a brief statement regarding the news.

Sinclair Broadcast Group issued the following statement to BleedingCool.com:

“Sinclair’s corporate policy is never to comment on speculative rumors and unsubstantiated stories.”

A few top ROH talents have also commented on WWE’s negotiations with Sinclair. ROH World Champion Christopher Daniels was a guest on this week’s Bischoff on Wrestling podcast and had this to say to Eric Bischoff:

“I don’t know anything specific about it. I can’t imagine that when you say ‘acquisition’… I can’t imagine it’s a full on acquisition. Only because I think that Sinclair is committed to doing things with Ring of Honor for it’s own business purposes. Again, I can’t really comment with any sort of intelligence on what the whole thing is even about.

I have heard that rumor but I don’t feel like Ring of Honor is going to be sold to WWE outright. It depends too on what WWE is trying to gain. Is it a matter of the tape library? Is a matter of the contracts of certain wrestlers? Who knows? I guess the best thing we can do is sort of sit and see how it plays out if it’s even true. That’s all I can do. I am just going to continue to assume. I’m booked, I’m wrestling, I am going to continue to prepare for the next show and we are going to see how it all plays out.”

Matt Jackson of the Young Bucks also tweeted:

12

Shawn Michaels Turned Down An Offer To Face AJ Styles At WrestleMania

100

WWE Hall of Famer Shawn Michaels says he recently declined an offer to lace up the boots one more time and face AJ Styles at WrestleMania 33.

HBK was the guest on the latest Sam Roberts Wrestling Podcast and revealed WWE approached him with an opportunity to face the Phenomenal One at the company’s biggest show of the year. Michaels is enjoying retirement, which is great for him but unfortunate for the rest of us.

“I could’ve had that match, they did not have an opponent for AJ at Wrestlemania”, Michaels said.

He went on to say that he knows fans would have loved the match, but the timing wasn’t right and it will be relegated to a dream match that never came to be.

“I wish that man was here 10 years ago man, I really do.”

Styles will face Shane McMahon next Sunday at WrestleMania in a match that’s sure to feature some show-stealing high spots.

Meet WWE’s New Giant: Babatunde Aiyegbusi

26

Last spring, 28 year-old former Polish football player Babatunde Aiyegbusi was signed  to WWE developmental. Throughout 2016, Aiyegbusi has been training in Orlando. So far the 6ft 10inch 350lbs recruit has wrestled in two battle royals and one squash match at NXT live events.

NXT trainer Steve Corino sent out video of the giant in action:

Babatunde Aiyegbusi

Babatunde actually played American football in Poland, playing in the Polish American Football league. He played in preseason play with the Minnesota Vikings in 2015.

“The Creation of Kevin” Posters Now Available from WWE Shop

17

Better later than never. The bromance between Kevin Owens and Chris Jericho is deader than dead, but WWE is offering a chance to commemorate one of the best storylines of the past year.  WWEShop has released a poster of the “Creation of Kevin” painting Jericho unveiled at the Festival of Friendship.

Kevin Owens vs. Chris Jericho at WrestleMania

As we head into WrestleMania, there are still many unanswered questions surrounding the Kevin Owens vs. Chris Jericho match. Some of the reasons Owens has given for why he turned on Jericho still don’t add up completely.

Owens said he turned on Jericho because of Jericho accepting the match with Goldberg on Kevin’s behalf. That ignores the secret conversation Owens had with Triple H earlier on the night he turned on Jericho. What did Triple H tell Owens? It’ll be interesting to see if Triple H’s involvement in this storyline is ever mentioned again, or if we are just expected to forget about that part.

1. Andrade “Cien” Almas vs. Oney Lorcan

This was a rematch from the December 3rd 2016 episode of NXT, where Lorcan pulled off the upset over Almas. At the time Almas’ character was still a good guy, with suspenders and a feather in his hat. Now as a heel, Almas was able to put away Lorcan here. The 27 year old Almas, formerly known as La Sombra in Mexico, was a highly touted prospect, but one who floundered in his original NXT debut. So far things are going better for him as a “bad guy”. He wins clean with a a hammerlock DDT.
It was revealed later in the show however, that Almas will face the debuting Aleister Black at Takeover: Orlando.
Winner: Andrade “Cien” Almas

2. Asuka vs. Priscilla Zuniga (non-title)

It’s been a big week for Priscilla Zuniga, also known as Angel Rose. A 25 year old who has been wrestling professionally since 2009, Rose also debuted in Impact Wrestling last week as a member of the newly formed LAX faction.
Asuka got on the mic before the match and told Ember Moon that this would be “her head” at Takeover, and then kicked Zuniga square in the face. She then proceeded to beat her opponent up unmercifully. Asuka would go for the cover and then lift Zuniga up to punish her some more. Finally she locked in the Asuka-lock, but wouldn’t let go for a few Rousimar Palhares type moments after Zuniga tapped. It was all to send a message to Ember Moon. After the match Asuka said there would be no “eclipse” in Orlando.
Commentary played up how damaging Ember Moon’s “Eclipse” move is, mentioning how Billie Kay needed help to the back after taking it the other week.
Winner: Asuka

A rather tattooed gentleman, by the name of Aleister Black, is featured in a vignette. Black is a 31-year old former kick boxer from the Netherlands. He started as a pro in late 2015 and is already about to debut at a Takeover event, which indicates WWE may be high on this guy.

3. Sanity vs. Tye Dillinger, No Way Jose and Roderick Strong

NXT’s mid-card feud continued here, only the match ended up being thrown out when all six men were brawling at once. Dillinger kept trying to get at Eric Young, but something always prevented it from happening. After the match was thrown out the two sides kept brawling, but Nikki Cross from Sanity jumped on Dillinger giving her faction the advantage. Then we got the debut of Heidi Lovelace who came to the ring to even things up for the babyface team. They ended the show by clearing the bad guys out of the ring. Lovelace had been a regular with Shimmer and Chikara before reporting to NXT earlier this year.
Winners: No-contest

Bray Wyatt Wants His Brother Bo Dallas In The Wyatt Family

51

WWE Champion Bray Wyatt spoke with Sports Illustrated this week to hype next weekend’s WrestleMania 33 pay-per-view.

Prior to the Royal Rumble, WWE advertised the Rumble winner would earn the right to main event WrestleMania. Randy Orton won the Royal Rumble and will challenge Bray Wyatt at WrestleMania, but Bray knows there’s a good chance they won’t be going on last. Bill Goldberg’s Universal Title defense against Brock Lesnar will probably close the show on April 2nd and the Eater of Worlds is ready to leave them with a tough act to follow.

“If I were Goldberg or Brock Lesnar, I wouldn’t want to have to go on after me and Randy,” said Wyatt. “From their standpoint, I wouldn’t want to be them and have to go on after us.”

Wyatt commented on not “looking like” the typical WWE Champion and said that notion is a joke to him. The casual fan might expect the WWE Champion to have abs and a shaven body. When you look at UFC, their champions come in all ‘shapes and sizes.’ Bray Wyatt touted his athletic ability and hates when people talk about his ‘character.’

“When people use the word ‘character’, I find it offensive,” he said. “To do what I do, you can’t be a character. I’m a sick individual, and it takes a sick individual to do what I do. Becoming WWE champion was the number one goal all along. This was a power play, and now, this is truly the Era of Wyatt. This is my time, and it was the power that I sought all along.”

Bray Wyatt is a third generation Superstar. As the grandson of the late Blackjack Mulligan, son of Mike “IRS” Rotunda and nephew of Barry Windham, there’s wrestling running through his veins. The same can be said for his brother, Bo Dallas. Bo’s career has been fledgling in recent years and Bray thinks it’s time for his baby brother to come home.

“Bo Dallas is, quite possibly, the most talented wrestler on either roster,” said Wyatt. “He is the most underrated superstar of all time, in my opinion. He has so much to give. At some point, I would love to form an alliance with him because I know who and what he really is. Whether people want to look at him like that, well, then I’ll show you. It’s very, very possible.”

Other topics discussed include Bray Wyatt’s WWE Championship defense against Randy Orton at WrestleMania and Bray’s dream opponents. Head over to SI’s Extra Mustard blog to check out the full interview.

Mike Bennett & Maria Kanellis WWE Bound? Anthem’s Legal Silver Bullet

64

– Cody Rhodes defeated Mike Bennett over the weekend to capture the NEW Heavyweight Championship. Bennett had a short title reign and the latest Wrestling Observer Newsletter states that Bennett and Maria are taking their talents elsewhere and have been “very secretive” about it, which typically indicates WWE.

Bennett and Maria were among the talents who left Impact Wrestling prior to the most recent tapings. Maria started working for WWE back in 2004 when she participated in the RAW Diva Search. She remained with the company through 2010. Since then, she’s worked for ROH, NJPW, TNA and various independent promotions.

– In the ongoing battle over the likeness of Matt Hardy’s ‘Broken Universe,’ Anthem Sports and Entertainment is going through all the ‘Broken’ videos on the Impact Wrestling Youtube channel and adding the ™ trademark symbol to phrases like ‘Broken Matt’ and ‘Broken Brilliance.’ We’re not lawyers but doesn’t seem like these actions will mean much of anything when this dispute winds up in court.

Because you’re wondering what Reby Hardy feels about this:
