WWE RAW Results & Discussion (3/20)

2,031

The March 20th, 2017 edition of WWE RAW was the second-last episode before WrestleMania on 4/2, and aired live on the USA Network from the Barclays Center in Brooklyn, NY.

– Mick Foley comes out to the ring to kick off RAW and read a pre-written statement apologizing for his actions last week. Foley apologizes for shoving Mr. Socko in Triple H’s mouth, and says effective immediately he’s taking a leave of absence. Foley rips up the index cards and starts freaking out. Foley cuts a promo on Triple H and Stephanie, but his microphone keeps getting cut off. Stephanie McMahon is out to the ring next. Stephanie calls out Foley for attacking Triple H, and says Foley screws up everything and that’s why they gave him index cards. Stephanie tells Foley “you’re fired” in her best Vince voice, then Foley starts to step out of the ring. Sami Zayn’s music hits and he comes out to interrupt. He tells Stephanie what she’s doing is wrong, and that Foley has more class and integrity than she ever had. Samoa Joe comes out to ringside, but before he can say anything, Stephanie McMahon sets up a match between Joe and Zayn right now. Zayn immediately hits a suicide dive out of the ring onto Joe on the floor, and we go to commercial.

Samoa Joe def. Sami Zayn: After the bell, Joe takes charge and tries to keep Zayn grounded. Joe throws Zayn outside and hits a suicide dive of his own before taking Zayn back in the ring. Zayn fights back with some kicks and follows up with a cross body off the top for a two count. The action goes out to ringside again where Zayn hits his leaping DDT through the corner ropes on Joe. Back in the ring, Zayn goes for the Heluva Kick but Joe blocks it and slams down Zayn. Joe quickly follows up with a Coquina Clutch on Zayn, and Zayn is fading. The referee rings the bell, and Joe is the winner via submission.

– Later tonight: A special look at Goldberg vs. Lesnar, and an update on Rollins’ injury.

– We go backstage where Mick Foley thanks Sami Zayn for standing up for him. Zayn asks Foley to stay, then Foley hugs him and walks away. Foley runs into Cesaro and Sheamus next and also hugs them and wishes them well. Other members of the roster thank Foley, then he walks int Triple H. Triple H tells Foley to “have a nice day,” and Foley exits the arena.

– Michael Cole interviews Kevin Wilk — Seth Rollins’ trainer – from Birmingham, AL via satellite. Wilk talks about Rollins’ rehab, and says he’s doing miraculously well. Wilk says there’s no doctor in America who would clear Rollins to wrestle at WrestleMania. He says Rollins should take several more months off, and he’ll be scared for Rollins’ health if he competes at ‘Mania.

Charlotte def. Dana Brooke: We open up with a replay of Dana turning on Charlotte last week. They lock up to start things off, and Dana takes control early on. Dana backs Charlotte into the corner and hits her with shoulder blocks. Dana gets in lots of offense in the opening minutes of the match, but Charlotte turns things around and works on Dana with strikes in the corner. Charlotte whips Dana off the ropes and drops her with a big boot for the win after a short match.

– We go backstage where Bayley is looking sad. Stephanie McMahon approaches her and asks if she needs a hug. Bayley complains about Stephanie’s actions on RAW, and Stephanie books Bayley in a No DQ match against Nia Jax tonight. If Nia wins, she joins the RAW Women’s Title match at WrestleMania to make it a four-way.

– United Stations Champion Chris Jericho is out to the ring next for The Highlight Reel. Jericho shows some embarrassing photos from Kevin Owens’ childhood where Owens is in a Y2J shirt with a Jericho poster on his wall. Jericho says Owens looks like a “fan of Jericho,” and says he was “marking out, man.” Jericho also shows a private message Owens sent to Jericho in 2014 asking for advice. Jericho continues making fun of Owens, and says he’s going to transport Owens back to when he was a nerd in his basement in a Y2J shirt. Jericho says he’s Owens’ idol, and that Owens is a stupid idiot. Jericho goes to write Kevin Owens down on The List again, but Samoa Joe comes out to the stage and distracts him. Kevin Owens then attacks the distracted Jericho from behind, and hits a Pop Up Powerbomb on him. Owens rips apart The List and eats a piece of it before leaving.

– Later tonight: Triple H will respond to Kevin Wilk’s injury update on Seth Rollins.

Brian Kendrick def. TJ Perkins: Perkins dominates the opening moments of the match and hits a cross-body off the top rope for a two count on Kendrick. Perkins attempts a Detonation Kick, but Kendrick blocks it and causes Perkins to bump into the referee. Kendrick takes advantage of the distraction to grab Perkins by the hair from behind and hit the Sliced Bread #2 on him for the win. After the match, Kendrick cuts a promo on Akira Tozawa. Kendrick says Tozawa is traveling right now, but won’t get very far without his passport, which Kendrick says he stole last week.

– We go backstage where Roman Reigns cuts a promo on Braun Strowman, saying Strowman needs to stay out of his business.

– We see a video package highlighting the history of Goldberg’s career, and his rivalry with Brock Lesnar.

– Nia Jax is backstage walking towards the entrance ramp for her No DQ match against Bayley.

– Stephanie McMahon approaches Cesaro and Sheamus backstage and informs them they’ll have to earn their spot at WrestleMania all over again. She books him in a two-on-four handicap match against Gallows, Anderson, Enzo, and Big Cass. Steph says if they lose, they also lose their spot at WrestleMania.

Nia Jax def. Bayley: This one is a no-disqualification match. Nia dominates this one from the opening bell and takes the fight out to the floor at ringside early on. We see Charlotte and Sasha Banks (separately) backstage watching on monitors. Bayley attempts a hurricanrana on Nia at ringside, but Nia blocks it. Nia continues beating down Bayley around ringside before taking her back in the ring. Bayley attempts to mount several comebacks, but Nia keeps shutting her down. Nia hits a running body block before locking Bayley in a cross-face chicken wing. Bayley fights out and slaps Nia across the face, so Nia throws her outside to the floor. Nia grabs Bayley by the hair and repeatedly slams her into the fan barricade. Back in the ring, Bayley hits a stunner and a running knee for a one count. Bayley hits an elbow and a running clothesline for a two count. Bayley hits a cross-body off the top for another two. Bayley goes to the second rope, but Nia knocks her off and hits a Samoan Drop for the win. Nia will now enter the Women’s Championship match at WrestleMania.

– WWE airs a video highlighting the career of Mae Young.

– Michael Cole is in the ring to introduce Triple H. Triple H comes out to the ring and says he’s having a nice day. He tells us that he’s disappointed Rollins won’t be cleared for WrestleMania. Lots of CM Punk chants from the Brooklyn crowd. Triple H says Rollins made the biggest mistake of his life when he stopped listening to him and started listening to the crowd. Triple H says Foley listened to the fans too much too, and it ruined his life and health. Triple H says the fans’ cheering didn’t work out well for Rollins last week when Triple H beat him down. Triple H says from this moment on, he’s officially done with Seth Rollins. Triple H gives Cole some WrestleMania tickets to pass along to Rollins when he sees him. Triple H is about to leave, but changes his mind, and takes the tickets back from Cole. Triple H asks Cole, what if he could find a way to face Rollins at ‘Mania? The Game says he’ll propose a contract that would allow Rollins to compete while injured and still legally protect WWE. Triple H challenges Rollins to accept his new proposal, and heads backstage.

Cesaro & Sheamus def. Luke Gallows, Karl Anderson, Enzo, and Cass: This one is a two on four handicap match. Before the match, Anderson and Gallows attack their own partners Enzo and Cass. The opening bell rings and Cesaro goes for a swing on Anderson. Anderson comes back with a flying kick. Cass attacks Gallows at ringside, while in the ring Sheamus tags in and hits the Brogue Kick on Anderson for the win after a short match. After the match, Cass hits a big boot on Gallows, and Enzo hits a splash off the top on Anderson.

– The New Day members are backstage to cut a promo about what they’re most looking forward to at WrestleMania on April 2nd.

Austin Aries def. Tony Nese: Nese jump starts things and remains in control for the opening moments. Aries manages to dump Nese outside to the floor and he follows up with a suicide dive through the ropes. Back in the ring, Nese gets Aries in a Torture Rack to slow things down. Aries gets out and Nese drops him with a running elbow to the face. Nese misses a springboard moonsault, and Aries capitalizes with a reverse neckbreaker over the top rope. Aries comes back with clotheslines and chops. Aries hits his facebuster and STO combo, then follows up with the pendulum elbow drop. Aries goes to the top rope and hits a missile dropkick that sends Nese flying back into the corner. Aries hits a running elbow shot in the corner, then a running discus forearm off the ropes for the win.

– After the match, Neville comes out with a mic and confronts Aries. Neville tells Aries he could go to the ring right now and obliterate him, but Aries is beneath him and is no threat. Aries tells Neville that was the worst interview segment he’s ever heard on Monday Night RAW. He says he’s above Neville’s level, and he’ll end Neville’s “King of the Cruiserweights” facade at WrestleMania.

– We get a WrestleMania flashback to Kurt Angle vs. Brock Lesnar, and then another video package highlighting Lesnar’s rivalry with Goldberg.

– Braun Strowman does a brief interview backstage where he says he’s going to destroy Roman Reigns tonight. He tells Undertaker that if he wants Reigns at WrestleMania, he’ll have to scrape Reigns off the mat first.

Roman Reigns vs. Braun Strowman: Just moments after the opening bell, the action goes out to ringside where Reigns attempts his drive-by dropkick on the apron, but Strowman blocks it. Strowman takes over from here, beating down Reigns around ringside then back in the ring. Strowman whips Reigns into the corner with authority then locks him in a headlock. Reigns comes back with a series of clotheslines and elbows. He goes for a Samoan drop on Strowman, but Strowman gets out and clotheslines Reigns down to the mat. Strowman follows up with a running splash on Reigns in the corner, then whips him across the ring for another one but Reigns dodges it. Reigns comes back with a kick to the face and a series of clotheslines. Strowman goes for a chokeslam on Reigns, but Reigns gets out and hits a Samoan drop on him. Strowman rolls outside and Reigns hits the drive-by dropkick. Strowman shrugs it off and throws Reigns into the ring steps. Strowman then throws the ring steps into the ring, then throws Reigns in the ring. Strowman picks up the steps, but Reigns hits him with a Superman punch and the steps falls out to ringside. Reigns goes for another Superman punch, but Strowman blocks it. Reigns hits a big boot then another Superman punch. Reigns gears up for a spear, but then The Undertaker’s gong hits and the lights go out. The lights go back on, and The Undertaker is in the ring. Strowman approaches Undertaker and Undertaker hits a chokeslam on him. The Undertaker turns around into a spear from Roman Reigns. Reigns’ music hits and he heads to the back, but before he gets to the curtain, The Undertaker sits up in the ring. Undertaker’s music hits as he gets up and stares down Reigns as RAW goes off the air.

33

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vzgFKjTuY6c

Roman Reigns recently appeared on CBS Sports’ Boomer and Carton where he discussed the mixed crowd reactions to him that we hear every week on RAW. One of the hosts brought up that Reigns is a “good guy” character who gets booed, and asked Reigns if the fans are rebelling against what they know WWE’s writers want.

Reigns replied that it’s about what the fans want and if that entails booing him, so be it. “I’m a grown man, I got kids,” Reigns said, borrowing a phrase from Heath Slater. “I can handle it.”

The former World Heavyweight Champion says the fans are nicer when face-to-face, and that he’s never met a “hater” in person. Reigns also talked about his football career during the interview, which you can listen to at NewYork.CBSLocal.com.

Gallows Anderson On ‘Ride Along’ Tonight After RAW

3

RAW tag team champions Luke Gallows and Karl Anderson will be the featured superstars for an episode of Ride Along scheduled to air tonight on the WWE Network right after RAW.

The Good Brothers Talkin Shop

Anderson and Gallows are no strangers to recording shows while on tour, as they have done so regularly with their “Talkin Shop” podcast.

It will be interesting to see the response that some the Southpaw Regional Wrestling stars get on Raw tonight, as reviews online have been overwhelmingly positive.

Anderson and Gallows are scheduled to defend their Raw tag team championships at WrestleMania against Sheamus & Cesaro and Enzo and Cass.

Johnny Mundo Wins AAA’s Triple Crown

5

Johnny Mundo has won the 3 most prestigious titles in AAA Lucha Libre, and he did it all in the same night.

Rey de Reyes 2017

Johnny Mundo faced Texano Jr and El Hijo Del Fantasma in a 3-way match with every title on the line at Rey De Reyes 2017 on March 19th 2017 in Monterey Mexico. Going into the match Mundo was the Latin American champion, Fantasma was the Cruiserweight champion and Texano Jr. was the AAA Mega Champion. The win for Mundo earned him all three titles at once.

AAA Lucha Libre recently entered into a talent sharing agreement with Impact Wrestling, but has struggled with losing top stars to upstart promotions in recent years. The promotion features several stars who appear regularly for Lucha Underground.

Luke Harper Slimmed Down, New Ring Gear & Entrance Video

17

Luke Harper in Line for a Push?

New gear, new entrance video, and a split from the Wyatt Family have it looking good that Luke Harper may be in line for a push up the Smackdown rankings.

Now 37 years old, Harper was already in his 30s by the time he landed in WWE in 2012. He had previously wrestled with Chikara, Dragon Gate, Evolve and numerous other independent promotions. Harper received a brief push in 2014 when Bray Wyatt let him and the other family members “go free”. Harper briefly won the Intercontinental championship during this period, his reign lasting just under 4 weeks.

Video of Harper’s entrance, which includes his entrance video, can be seen below.

New Japan Cup Finals 2017 Results

0

The New Japan Cup changed format this years. Instead of getting the semi-finals and finals on the same night, the semi-finals were last night. The show last night did not have english commentary but for the finals both Kevin Kelly and Don “Cyrus” Callis were back.

New Japan Cup Final 2017
March 20th 2017
Niigata, Japan

1. Tomoyuki Oka vs. Hirai Kawato

This match went to a time limit draw. After the match frustrations boiled over and the two NJPW dojo trainees kept fighting until they were separated.
Winner: Draw (time-limit)

2. Jushin Liger, Tiger Mask, David Finlay vs. Takashi Iizuka, Taka Michinoku, El Desperado (Suzuki-Gun)

Finish of the match came when Iizuka hit David Finlay with a chair to the back. This allowed Taka to go on offence but Finlay overcame and pinned Taka with a stunner anyway. The story of this match seemed to centre around Finlay, so perhaps we will see him start to win more matches in the future.
After the match Iizuka went crazy throughout the crowd.
Winners: Liger, Tiger Mask and David Finlay

3. Yuji Nagata and Katsuya Kitamura vs. Hiroyoshi Tenzan and Satoshi Kojima (Non-Title)

Kitamura certainly looks impressive, but i believe this was literally something like his seventh pro match. He’s 31 so they might speed his process up faster than the other young lions.
Finish of the match was Kojima catching Kitamura with a lariat and getting the pin.
Winners: Tenzan and Kojima (Kojima pinned Kitamaru)

4. Minoru Suzuki, Kanemaru, Taichi (Suzuki-Gun) vs. Hirooki Goto, Jado and Gedo (CHAOS)

Desperado distracted the ref which allowed Taichi to use the mic stand against CHAOS. With the ref down Gedo used the mic stand on Taichi however, and Jado ended up making him tap to a crossface.
Suzuki slapped a young lion on his way out for some reason. Gedo and Jado held up the jr heavyweight tag team titles before giving them back to Suzuki Gun, playing up a probable future title match between the two teams.
Winners: CHAOS (Taichi submitted to Jado)

5. Hiroshi Tanahashi, Michael Elgin, Juice Robinson, Kushida and Ryusuke Taguchi vs. Tetsuya Naito, Evi, Bushi, Sanada, Hiromu Takahashi (Los Ingobernables)

Juice Robinson and Tetusya Naito have been teasing a potential rivalry in recent shows, and the trend continued here. The finish of the match came when Robinson hooked Naito for the “Pulp Friction” but Naito countered it with a low blow and into Destino for the pin.
After the match Kushida and Takahashi brawled to the back (as Kushida will be Takahashi’s next challenger for the junior heavyweight title), and the rest of Ingobernables beat down Juice Robinson some more.
Winners: Los Ingobernables (Naito pinned Juice Robinson)

6. Kenny Omega, Yujiro Takahashi, Tanga Roa, and Tama Tonga (Bullet Club) vs. Kazuchika Okada, Toru Yano, Tomohiro Ishii, Yoshi-Hashi (CHAOS)

Finish of this match came when Okada gave Tanga Roa the rainmaker clothesline for the pin. Okada and Omega jawed back and forth a little after the match. Omega threw the turnbuckle padding at CHAOS afterwards as well. Okada will most likely have to face the winner of the New Japan Cup (unless the winner chooses to go after another belt) before another match against Omega however.
Winners: CHAOS (Okada pinned Tango Roa)

7. New Japan Cup 2017 Final
Katsuyori Shibata vs. Bad Luck Fale (Bullet Club)

Neither of these two had ever won a New Japan Cup before. Last year’s winner Naito, went on to win the IWGP heavyweight championship with the title shot he earned.
Finish of this match came when Shibata kicked out of Bad Luck Fale’s “Grenade” (similar to Umaga’s death spike) and Shibata countered his Bad Luck Fall into a rear-naked choke, which led into the PK for the pin.
After the match Shibata announced that he will challenge Kazuchika Okada for the IWGP heavyweight championship on April 9th in Sumo Hall.
Winner: Katsuyori Shibata (2017 New Japan Cup Winner)

Jim Cornette To Induct The Rock ‘n’ Roll Express Into The WWE Hall Of Fame

30

Legendary wrestling manager Jim Cornette will be the man to induct the Rock ‘n’ Roll Express into the WWE Hall of Fame. Cornette’s Midnight Express feuded with the Rock ‘n’ Roll Express throughout the 1980’s. Cornette briefly aligned with his longtime rivals in WWE during the Attitude Era during the “NWA invasion” angle back in 1998.

“Between the ’80s with The Midnight Express and the ’90s with The Heavenly Bodies, and then in the 2000s on the reunions with The Midnights, I think only Bobo Brazil and The Sheik had a longer-running rivalry,” Cornette told WWE.com. “And I still haven’t put an end to Rock ‘n’ Roll! I haven’t been able to do it, so I guess I have to roll over and induct them.”

Cornette has been very critical of WWE over the years, so his involvement is a welcomed surprise. Many saw Cornette as the most appropriate inductor for Ricky Morton and Robert Gibson, but his rocky relationship with WWE made it seem like a distant possibility.

“By any standard, Ricky and Robert belong in the Hall of Fame,” Cornette told WWE.com. “And that’s whether its longevity as a team, the attendance records they set, or the great matches that they had, which fans can still see on WWE Network.”

The 2017 WWE Hall of Fame ceremony takes place on Friday night, March 31st from Orlando, FL.

WWE Hall of Fame Class of 2017

  • Kurt Angle, to be inducted by John Cena
  • Diamond Dallas Page
  • The Rock ‘n’ Roll Express, to be inducted by Jim Cornette
  • “Ravishing” Rick Rude
  • Teddy Long, to be inducted by JBL & Ron Simmons
  • Beth Phoenix
  • Eric LeGrand to receive the Warrior Award

Impact Wrestling Announces Partnership With Mexico’s AAA Promotion

34

Impact Wrestling continues to forge alliances with international wrestling promotions. Ed Nordholm, president of Anthem Wrestling Exhibitions, has announced a partnership with Mexico’s AAA promotion.

It will take months before Anthem’s big picture vision for Impact Wrestling takes shape, but this is an encouraging sign. Last month Impact announced a partnership with Pro Wrestling NOAH (Japan) and are negotiating a deal with iTV’s World of Sport promotion (UK).

Impact Wrestling has an existing relationship with Mexico’s with CRASH promotion, which creates an interesting scenario because AAA and CRASH are direct competitors.

Kurt Angle On Being The Greatest Of All Time, WWE Legends Working Part Time, More

27

Olympic gold medalist Kurt Angle spoke with Fox Sports to discuss his legacy, his upcoming WWE Hall of Fame induction and promote his appearance at Comic Con in Cleveland over the weekend.

Angle recently sat down for an interview with Corey Graves, which will air in its entirety on the WWE Network in the coming weeks. Angle spoke about the importance of his legacy and wanting to be the greatest of all time, not just somebody who had that potential but squandered it due to personal issues. Fox asked Angle if he considers himself to be in that top tier. Angle believes he’s the greatest technical wrestler of all time, but admits that he didn’t have a long enough run in WWE to be the greatest Superstar of all time.

“You know what, to be honest with you… I haven’t been there in 11 years. You can only have so much impact when you’re in a company for six and a half years [and] you’re injured for a year and a half of it, so really five years…

Would I put myself in the history books as the greatest wrestler of all time? Yes. But not ‘WWE Superstar’. I was only there six and a half years. I also had a pro career in TNA for 11. You can’t combine them together unless you’re talking from a non-WWE standpoint. And the WWE is the monster, it’s everything. The longer you’re in there and the more successful you are, the more accolades you should have. I wasn’t John Cena, I couldn’t stay on top for 14 years. I tried. Very few individuals could do that.”

Angle used Steve Austin as an example. He believes Stone Cold is the greatest of all time and his star burned as bright as anybody in history. However, Austin’s run was only about five years and some of that time was plagued by a neck injury. Nobody has the consistency of John Cena and you need that staying power to be considered the greatest. Angle says he had a consistent run with TNA, but he needed a very reduced schedule to stay healthy.

In recent years, we’ve seen guys like The Rock, The Undertaker, Triple H, Brock Lesnar and Goldberg work part-time schedules. This luxury has extended their careers and allowed them to work big WrestleMania matches many years past their primes. Angle wonders how things would have been different if he could have worked a part time schedule after he left WWE back in 2006.

“What’s crazy is two years after I left, they started doing that. It was like ‘damnit! I just missed it by two years.’ I would have stayed in WWE. I went to rehab back in 2006 and I got myself straight, took Vince McMahon’s advice, and I would have stayed. I wanted to stay, I just knew I couldn’t do that schedule …

Part-timers usually have to put in that 20 or so years. So I understood that, but two or three years later they started doing that. I missed that moment where I could have stayed, and I could have been a 25-time World Champion.”

Head over to Fox Sports to check out the full interview.

Nakamura Talks About Joining The Main Roster, John Cena Wants More Southpaw

13

Shinsuke Nakamura was recently interviewed by Sportskeeda and commented on which main roster brand he’d like to join.

“Either brand is okay,” he said, “Raw has Joe, Finn. So much NXT talent that it’s comfortable for me. SmackDown has AJ Styles, Randy Orton, John Cena. I want to wrestle all of them. So either!”

Whether he winds up wrestling on Monday or Tuesday nights, Nakamra thinks he’s proven that he deserves a spot in WWE. “”I’ve done a good job this year, but I still want to go to the next WrestleMania. Before WrestleMania, there’s Takeover, and I need to prove myself again. Then, I want to go up as soon as possible.”

When asked about his dream WrestleMania opponent, he named AJ Styles.  You can check out he entire interview at Sportskeeda.com.

– John Cena (a/k/a Lance Catamaran) thanked fans on Twitter for the tremendous response to Southpaw Regional Wrestling, the 4-part comedy series about a fictional 1980’s wrestling territory.  Cena instructed fans to tweet at the creator of the show for more episodes. In case you missed it:

Meanwhile, Jim Cornette was asked if he had checked out Southpaw Regional Wrestling. Cornette is a staunch supporter of classic professional wrestling, a bygone era parodied in Southpaw. He replied:

Rich Swann Discusses His Role At Wrestlemania 33 & His Dream Opponent

13

Rich Swann recently did a Q&A with Auburn Pub and below are some of the highlights from the interview:

Do you know much about your role at WrestleMania? You had that match with (WWE Cruiserweight Champion) Neville last week and they were setting that up as whoever wins that will be carrying the belt in, but unfortunately you came up short. So do you know what your role’s gonna be at the show?

I don’t have any direction right now, but you know, things change. And if anything happens for WrestleMania, if I get an opportunity, it’s just like I’ve taken anything before: I’ll take that opportunity to the fullest and watch that thing explode like TNT. But you know, if not, then that’s OK. This is my first year and I’m very happy learning about every single thing that goes on, and how WrestleMania is going to change lives. If Austin Aries does end up challenging Neville at WrestleMania that’s one thing that I’m definitely going to keep my eye on. You got a guy like Austin Aries, his stature — look at his accomplishments in the industry and what he’s done. The guy is definitely a very great opponent for someone like Neville. And you got a guy like Neville, whose attitude has switched, a full 180-turn, and he has not really cared about what the people have to say about him. And he’s really taking the role as the king of the cruiserweights. You can say what you want about the guy, his tactics and his attitude, but he is one of the best, if not the best performer in the WWE today. One of the best athletes I’ve ever seen in my life. I’ve spent the better part of six years of my life with that man, all over the world, and I know him like the back of my hand. He’s at the top of his game right now and I feel like this is his WrestleMania.

You’ve only been in WWE for a little while now, so I imagine there are a lot of guys you have yet to mix it up with who you want to. Who are your biggest dream opponents on the roster?

That’s a tough one, because there are so many guys. I’d love to one day have a match with Shinsuke Nakamura. Man, you know what, I take that back. As much as I love Shinsuke, the biggest dream match of mine is Chris Jericho.

Injury Update On Naomi – Will She Be Back In Time For WrestleMania?

74

Due to an unfortunate knee injury, Naomi was forced to relinquish the SmackDown Women’s Championship last month to SmackDown LIVE General Manager Daniel Bryan because it was established that she would be unable to defend her title in the allotted 30-day period. Alexa Bliss then won the title back after losing it at Elimination Chamber by beating Becky Lynch in an impromptu match.

On March 7, Bryan announced that “every available woman on the SmackDown LIVE roster” will have an opportunity to compete for the SmackDown Women’s Championship at WrestleMania 33. His ruling opens up the possibility of Naomi competing at the April 2 event taking place in her hometown of Orlando, Florida, and according to her father, she will.

On Twitter, a Naomi fan asked the WWE’s star father, who is a musician in South Florida, if he had any news on when she’ll be back.

He replied, “She will be back by Wrestlemania.”

He also noted that her injury is legitimate as she suffered a sprained ACL in her knee.

Naomi last provided an injury update to fans on March 7, where she said that she could still appear at WrestleMania 33.
