Alberto El Patron Surrenders Impact Wrestling World Championship

45

Alberto El Patron has surrendered the Impact Wrestling World Championship. Last week on Impact, Patron made a surprise debut and scored a pinfall victory Bobby Lashley. However, he got the win after smashing Lashley in the face with the title.

During a meeting with Impact Wrestling board members including Bruce Prichard and Dutch Mantell, it was decided that El Patron’s victory be overturned due to the controversial nature of the finish. El Patron resisted at first, but admitted it was the right thing to do when prompted to consider how his father, Mexican wrestling legend Dos Caras, would handle the situation. He agreed to give up the title with the assurance that he’ll get a rematch against Lashley. Prichard and Mantell said he can have a rematch if Bobby Lashley agrees to it. (See below)

Many fans have been speculating this storyline will serve as an opportunity for Impact Wrestling to introduce a new championship belt that does not feature the retired “TNA” name on it. Tune in to Impact Wrestling this coming Thursday on Pop for the latest.

WWE RAW Results & Live Discussion (3/13)

1,736

The March 13th edition of WWE RAW aired live from the Joe Louis Arena in Detroit, MI at 8 PM ET on the USA Network.

– Paul Heyman and Brock Lesnar are out to the ring to open up RAW. Heyman gloats about his client beating up Goldberg last week, and announces that Goldberg is not here tonight. Heyman says Brock knows how to beat Goldberg, and at WrestleMania Goldberg will go down.

– Stephanie McMahon approaches Mick Foley and tells Foley not to take things personally that they say in the heat of things during business. Foley says he took things like saying he as sad and pathetic personal. Stephanie says the fans trust Foley, but Foley has room to grow in other areas. Stephanie says as Mick’s boss, she is willing to teach Foley all she knows about the business and it will make their relationship better. Stephanie says Foley’s first lesson is to scour the RAW roster to find one person to fire.

Sasha Banks def. Dana Brooke: Charlotte and Bayley are at ringside for this one. Sasha gets the quick win after a very short match, and after the bell Charlotte cuts a promo on Dana Brooke. Charlotte tells Dana she’s finally cutting her off, and she’s not going to ride her coat tails to WrestleMania. Dana drops Charlotte with a right hand and brawls with her all around ringside. Charlotte finally escapes and backs up the ramp.

Brian Kendrick & Tony Neese def. Akira Tozawa & TJ Perkins: Neese and Kedrick start off in control against Tozawa, until Tozawa hurricanranas Kenrick to the outside and follows up with a suicide dive. Neese attempts to attack Tozawa from behind at ringside, but Perkins comes off the ring apron for the save. Back in the ring, Neese tags back in and does his best to keep Tozawa grounded. Tozawa escapes a suplex and gets the hot tag to Perkins. Perkins comes in and drops Neese with a series of kicks, then follows up with a bulldog for a two count. Kendrick tries to interfere but Perkins hits him with a spinning heel kick to the face. Perkins comes off the top and catches Neese with a DDT for a two count. Kendrick interferes and Tozawa kicks him off the apron. Neese pushes Perkins into Tozawa from behind, knocking Tozawa outside, then rolls up Perkins from behind for the win.

– Luke Gallows and Karl Anderson do and interview backstage and complain about being asked about other teams. They say they’re the champions, and the spotlight should only be on them. They tell the interviewer if she wants to talk about nerds like Enzo and Cass to do it somewhere else.

– Owens comes out to the ring and the arena lights go out, with just a spotlight on Owens. Owens cuts a promo on Jericho, and says Jericho never really considered him his friend. Owens says he stabbed Jericho in the back, before Jericho could stab him in the back. Owens says Goldberg didn’t beat him at Fastlane, Jericho did with his interference.

Chris Jericho & Sami Zayn def. Kevin Owens & Samoa Joe via DQ: Joe and Owens dominate Zayn in the opening minutes, and Owens superkicks Jericho off the apron. Zayn tries to fire up and come back at one point, but Owens and Joe double team him. Joe puts Zayn in the Coquina Clutch while Owens stomps on Zayn. Jericho gets back in the ring and starts fighting off Owens and Joe, but they double team him and take him down too.

https://twitter.com/WWE/status/841456152403562496

Enzo & Cass vs. Sheamus & Cesaro – No Contest: Enzo and Cass cut one of their usual promos before the match. The opening minutes of the match are evenly matched until Cass gets the upper hand over Cesaro and starts controlling the tempo of the match. Cass keeps Cesaro grounded until Sheamus gets the hot tag. Sheamus attempts the Ten Beats Of The Baron, but Cass breaks free and hits a big boot that sends Sheamus to the floor. Cass falls outside with him. Gallows and Anderson come down to ringside through the crowd and boot both Sheamus and Cass in their faces. The Tag Champions beat down Sheamus and Cass around ringside, then Cesaro gets some too. Gallows and Anderson throw Cesaro in the ring and continue beating on him. Enzo gets up on the apron, but Gallows boots him off. Anderson and Gallows hit the Magic Killer on Cesaro, then head backstage with bodies laying all over ringside.

– Mick Foley walks up on Anderson and Gallows backstage and gets in their faces about screwing up the tag match. Foley says Gallows and Anderson will now have to face all four of them they just beat down at WrestleMania in a triple-threat tag match at WrestleMania.

Roman Reigns def. Jinder Mahal: Reigns gets Mahal in the corner early on and starts hitting him with a series of clotheslines. The Undertaker’s “gong” rings out through the arena, which distracts Reigns. Reigns looks towards the entrance, then turns around into a knee to the face from Mahal. Mahal continues beating on Reigns while he’s down. Mahal hits a series of kicks to the face of Reigns, but Reigns comes back with two Superman punches for the win.

– After the match, Reigns grabs the microphone and tells The Undertaker to come out and face him like a man. Instead, Shawn Michaels comes out. Michaels comes to the ring and tells Reigns that he’s been in his position before, and he’s going to lose to The Undertaker if he lets Undertaker get in his head. Michaels tells Reigns he’s not here to be confrontational with him, and he’s on his side and wants to help him. Reigns tells Michaels that with all due respect, The Undertaker retired Michaels, and he’s the guy who’s going to retire The Undertaker. As Reigns is making his way backstage, Braun Strowman clotheslines him from behind and sends Reigns falling beside the ramp. Strowman tells Michaels he would have done it to him too if he wanted, and walks off.

– Backstage, Stephanie McMahon reminds Mick Foley that he has to decide on someone to fire from RAW tonight. Foley tries to talk her out of it, but Stephanie says if he doesn’t choose someone, she will.

Austin Aries def. Ariya Daivari: This one is Aries’ first match on RAW. The match opens up with some back-and-forth action until Daivari hits a short-arm clothesline. Daivari starts focusing on the injured orbital area of Aries. Aries throws Daivari outside and follows up with a suicide dive through the ropes. Back in the ring, Aries hits a back suplex then pulls off his elbow pad. Aries comes off the ropes with a spinning elbow to the face for the win.

The Big Show def. Titus O’Neal: Big Show starts off with right hands and a chopto the chest of Titus. Titus briefly mounts some offense, but Big Show quickly shuts him down with a chokeslam. Show grabs him and gives him another one. The fans chant for one more, so Big Show grabs Titus and delivers a third chokeslam before pinning him for the win.

– Backstage, Sasha Banks reminds Bayley that she has haters who think she isn’t Championship material. Sasha wishes Bayley luck in her match against Nia Jax tonight and high-fives her.

Bayley def. Nia Jax via DQ: Nia dominates the opening minutes of this one, as she brawls with the Champion out to ringside. Bayley attempts to come back with a flying cross-body off the middle rope, but Nia blocks it. Nia also blocks a DDT attempt, and starts beating down Bayley in the corner. Nia hits three shoulders and two stomps on Bayley in the corner, then the referee disqualifies her for being “overly aggressive.” Nia continues to beat down Bayley after the bell.

– Stephanie McMahon is in the ring and she brings out Mick Foley. Stephanie asks Foley who he has decided on to fire from RAW. Foley says it’s cruel to fire someone right before WrestleMania, but ten minutes ago a name started jumping off of the page at him. Foley says the name he has decided on is: Stephanie McMahon. Stephanie says he can’t do that, but Foley insists that she is the one who needs to go to make RAW better. Foley says Triple H and Stephanie and ruining the show, and he won’t be silenced. This brings out Triple H, who says he wants to rip off Foley’s leg and beat him with it. Triple H calls Foley a pathetic has-been, and says Foley is only here because Stephanie likes him. Foley says everyone in the locker room is jealous of him because he doesn’t have to pretend to like Triple H. Triple H mentions that his daughter wants to be a WWE star, and teases that he might fire his son Dewey from the WWE office. Triple H tells Foley to tuck his tail between his legs and head backstage. Triple H tells Foley that when Stephanie tells him to jump he better jump, and yells at Foley to get his ass out of his ring. Foley starts to walk out, but he stops at the ropes. Stephanie starts cutting a promo, but Triple H notices Foley hasn’t left yet. Triple H walks over to Mick, and Mick turns around and hits Triple H with the Mr. Socko out of nowhere. Stephanie hits a low-blow on Foley from behind, and he’s down. Triple H goes to finish off Foley, but Seth Rollins comes out on a crutch. Rollins drops the crutch and hits the ring and starts throwing right hands with The Game. Rollins kicks Triple H in the midsection and follows up with a dropkick that sends Triple H falling out to ringside. Triple H grabs the crutch and heads back in the ring, but Rollins drops Triple H again. Triple H gets a second wind and hits Rollins with the crutch, then starts working on Rollins’ bad knee. Triple H smashes the crutch over Rollins’ injured knee a couple more times before leaving the ring. RAW goes off the air with Rollins asking the referees for a medic.

Jack Swagger Released By WWE

Former WWE World Heavyweight Champion Jack Swagger has been officially released from the company. WWE.com announced on Monday afternoon:

“WWE has come to terms on the release of Jack Swagger as of today, March 13, 2017. WWE wishes Swagger the best in all his future endeavors.”

The All-American collegiate wrestler appeared on Chael Sonnen’s You’re Welcome! podcast last week and revealed that he requested his release. WWE sent us a statement clarifying that Swagger was still under contract (as of last week) and has a 90-day ‘no compete’ clause, effective immediately. He was advertised to wrestle Alberto El Patron in the UK this weekend, but was pulled from that show shortly after the match was booked.

Chris Harrington of Wrestlenomics notes that WWE does not own the trademark on the name “Jack Swagger.”

Swagger had been with WWE since 2006. He’s a former WWE World Heavyweight Champion and held the ECW championship in WWE’s short-lived reboot of the extreme brand.

John Cena Slimed At Kid’s Choice Awards (Video), Red Carpet Photos With Nikki Bella

WWE SmackDown Superstar John Cena hosted Nickelodeon’s Kid’s Choice Awards over the weekend. The event took place USC’s Galen Center in Los Angeles on Saturday and the 16-time world champion was joined by none other than Nikki Bella.

Despite having the honor of hosting the 30th installment of the KCA’s, Cena was not exempt from being covered in green slime (see above). Cena almost made it through the entire show without getting slimed – almost. As the show was winding down, he asked the audience if they want to see something cool. After getting slimed, Cena said,

“I have just turned into John Greena. Thank you Nickelodeon. Thank you Kids’ Choice. Tonight was incredible. I had the time of my life.”

During an interview with Extra last week to promote the awards show, Cena talked about how he and Nikki stay so close despite their busy schedules. “It sometimes comes down to the unromantic fact of scheduling time for each other, which — for lack of a better word — sucks, but when we have that time with each other, it’s truly incredible.” He continued, “I love her to death and I look forward to the next time I see her.”

Cody Hall Signs with Pro Wrestling NOAH

5

Cody Hall, son of WWE Hall of Famer Scott Hall, has signed with Japan’s Pro Wrestling NOAH promotion. The company recently inked a partnership agreement with Impact Wrestling.

Injury and Recovery

Hall received a scary injury at NJPWs Invasion Attack 2016 and has been sidelined ever since. He was part of a group of wrestlers who caught Nick Jackson diving off a barrier and injured his neck in the process.

It is believed that negotiations between he and Pro Wrestling NOAH began while he was in recovery. The promotion is said to see potential in the 25-year old.

Since making his NJPW debut in 2015, Hall had been portraying the role as the Bullet Club’s young lion, aka their wrestler in training. It will be interesting to see how NOAH books him moving forward however, if he will be portrayed as a wrestler in training, mid-carder or more.

His first match with NOAH is scheduled for Tokyo’s Korakuen Hall on April 14th against Go Shiozaki.

Seth Rollins Congratulates Christopher Daniels on ROH World Title Win

3

On Friday night 45-year old Christopher Daniels won the ROH world championship for the first time. It is the first world championship of a major promotion he has won.

Seth Rollins offered his congrats to Daniels:

Seth Rollins and Christopher Daniels ROH Experience

Rollins and Daniels were both in ROH together in 2010, when Rollins was the ROH world champion. He defeated Austin Aries for the title in February of 2010, and would drop it that September to Roderick Strong.

At the time Daniels was returning from TNA Wrestling, where he had been since 2002.

This Friday night at ROH’s 15th Anniversary show, Daniels defeated Adam Cole in the main event for the ROH world championship. Daniels’ longtime tag team partner Kazarian, had joined Cole’s Bullet Club earlier in the month on ROH television, but at the PPV showed it was all a double-cross. Kazarian turned on Adam Cole and helped Daniels gain the advantage and win the championship.

Earlier in the night Jay Lethal defeated Bobby Fish in a match that commentary indicated would have world title implications. Most likely Daniels’ first title defence, if not a rematch with Cole, will be against Jay Lethal.

Saraya Knight Organizing All-Women’s Tournament

10

Saraya Knight, mother of Paige, is looking to organize an all women’s tournament. Knight, whose life story is being turned into a movie (which is being produced by the Rock), put out an open invitation to promotions to send her their female champion:

Women’s Revolution

The 45-year old Saraya is looking to organize a champion of champions tournament featuring the female champion of different companies from around the world. The finals of the tournament will take place under the banner of Knight’s Bellatrix Female Fighters promotion.

Speculation is that the WWE is contacting female talents as well, for an all-woman tournament to be featured on the WWE Network in May. The tournament would be the 3rd for WWE, who found success with the Cruiserweight Classic and the UK Championship tournaments last year.

Rusev Likely To Miss Wrestlemania 33 Due To Injury

36

Rusev is rumored to be dealing with a shoulder injury that could keep him out of action for WrestleMania. Rusev lost a somewhat thrown together match to the Big Show at Fastlane, getting in limited offense against the giant and taking several chokeslams. Show ended it with a knockout punch, giving himself momentum headed into WWE’s biggest show of the year.

Big Show allegedly told a fan at a recent convention that Rusev is undergoing surgery. F4wonline confirms Rusev will be out of action for several weeks, but it’s unknown if he is in fact going under the knife.

Last week, Rusev mentioned on Instagram that he is taking 30 days off from weight training, another indication that he’s injured and won’t be competing at WrestleMania.

Bring It To The Table Returns After Monday Night Raw

9

It has been over two months since the last episode of Bring It To The Table. The WWE only produced one episode of the debate show hosted by Peter Rosenberg. In the first episode, Peter Rosenberg was joined by Paul Heyman and JBL. After this week’s episode of Raw, Rosenberg will be joined by Corey Graves and JBL.

The first episode was met with both praise and criticism. I enjoyed the format of the show, but everything felt held back. The show airs on the WWE Network, so it seemed like everyone was a little hesitant to be overly critical of the WWE product. It will be interesting to see how the second episode of the show goes after this week’s episode of Monday Night Raw.

AJ Styles Interrupts Shane McMahon At MSG Live Event, Goldberg Calls Fans “Lowlifes” For Cursing

Shane McMahon and AJ Styles are rumored to face each other at Wrestlemania this year. Styles also wrestled Randy Orton at the event today and lost via an RKO.

A video has surfaced of Goldberg shouting at some angry fans at WWE Fastlane. The fans apparently used foul language and Goldberg wasn’t pleased with that because there were children in the audience.

Jim Ross Predicts The Winner Of Goldberg vs. Lesnar, Expects Kenny Omega In WWE

29

WWE Hall of Famer Jim Ross was recently interviewed by Sports Illustrated and gave his thoughts on the upcoming WrestleMania showdown between RAW Universal Champion Goldberg and the man he’s humiliated twice over the past several months, Brock Lesnar.

Goldberg asserted his dominance over Lesnar at Survivor Series and the Royal Rumble, but JR thinks it will be Brock Lesnar standing tall when all is said and done at WrestleMania.

“Lesnar will go over with his finish, the F5. If they use their head, make sure Paul Heyman is involved in the game-planning, and get an agent like Michael Hayes or Pat Patterson or someone like that, then there is no excuse that they can’t give you ten quality minutes, bell-to-bell. There is no reason that two guys of that stature, earning that kind of money, can’t give ten kicka– minutes of pro wrestling content. I firmly believe it’s possible.”

It all goes down Sunday, April 2nd when WrestleMania 33 takes place from Orlando, FL at the Camping World Stadium.

JR also commented on the possibility of Kenny Omega leaving New Japan Pro Wrestling and showing the WWE Universe what he’s got. Omega is doing big things in New Japan, but JR is convinced he’ll wind up in WWE one day.

“It’s a good time to follow a guy like Kenny, who, some day, will be a WWE guy. There’s no doubt. I’m glad that he came back to New Japan for another year, and I would think that after he stars at Wrestle Kingdom in 2018, then he very well could be the most coveted free agent that WWE has tried to sign in years.”
