– Dash Wilder defeated Akam and Johnny Gargano in a Triple Threat.

– Bobby Roode defeated Kassius Ohno to retain the NXT Championship.

– Shinsuke Nakamura defeated TJ Perkins.

There was a dark segment after the match where Bobby Roode and Andrade Almas double-teamed Nakamura until Finn Balor made the save. Balor and Nakamura cleared the ring, hitting a Slingblade and a Kinshasa on Roode. Balor cut a promo about how he was coming back for what’s his. He said he’s not cleared to return yet but he will be back soon. He wished Nakamura a happy birthday before ending the show.

Finn Balor returned to the ring at Wednesday night’s NXT TV tapings from Full Sail University in Winter Park, FL. Balor, a former NXT Champion, hit the ring and had roughed up reigning NXT champ Bobby Roode.

Shinsuke Nakamura was still in the ring from a match involving Roode and joined Balor in the attack as the two babyfaces celebrated.

This was the first time we’ve seen Balor in a WWE/NXT ring since surrendering the Universal Championship back in August. He’s been recovering from major shoulder surgery ever since and looks to be in tremendous shape.

WWE noted that Balor is still not medically cleared to wrestle, but the physicality he showed here is a sign that he’ll be back in the ring soon.

Discussion:  Who do you think Finn Balor will / should wrestle at WrestleMania 33?

Finn Balor Attending Tonight’s NXT Tapings

1

Triple H has revealed that Finn Balor will make an appearance at tonight’s NXT tapings from Full Sail University:

Finn Balor also tweeted out the following:

Finn Balor Injury Status

The timetable for Balor’s return had always been February or March. While this does give him time to appear at WrestleMania, it appears there just wasn’t enough time to build a match for him. So long as there has not been setbacks in his rehab, Balor could likely return at WrestleMania or Raw the night after, as both shows typically feature superstar returns or debuts.

Balor tweeted out an “injury update” earlier today:

On Valentine’s Day, Balor and Rollins were seen rehabbing together. Nice poster.

The Rock Comments On Why He Called CM Punk After RAW

62

After Monday’s RAW from Los Angeles went off the air, The Rock hit the ring to film a scene for the WWE Studios movie “Fighting With My Family.” The film focuses on WWE Superstar Paige and her famous Knight wrestling family.

The Rock was met with “CM Punk” cheers and took it upon himself to call Punk in front of the live crowd. Punk didn’t answer the call because he was out walking his dog, but word got out that WWE was none to pleased about The Rock’s unscripted call.

The Rock commented on the situation earlier this morning and explained why he called Punk, despite the common knowledge (and bold understatement) that Punk is on bad terms with WWE.

In case you missed it, you can see The Rock leaving CM Punk a voicemail below:

Preview For Tonight’s NXT

The following is a preview for tonight’s episode of NXT on the WWE Network:

Pete Dunne vs. Mark Andrews

  • The UK division gets more time on NXT programming.

NXT Champion Bobby Roode vs. No Way Jose (non-title)

  • Roode is not going to want to drop a non-title match as he builds towards an eventual rematch with Nakamura.
  • No Way Jose has been hovering around mid-card status for his entire NXT tenure, but a win over Roode could change that however.

NXT Women’s Championship #1 Contender’s Match
Peyton Royce vs. Ember Moon vs. Liv Morgan

  • Royce was the only of the 3 in this match to have also been in the fatal 4-way title match at Takeover: San Antonio. She has the momentum going into this match seeing as her and partner Billie Kay defeated Moon and Morgan in a tag match last week.

#1 Contender’s Match Announced for Next Week’s Smackdown

12

Daniel Bryan has confirmed that AJ Styles will take on Luke Harper next week to determine a new #1 contender to Bray Wyatt’s WWE Championship. The winner of that match will take on Wyatt at WrestleMania 33.

Bryan also said he didn’t restart the battle royal immediately last night, as they were running out of TV time.

WrestleMania Speculation

AJ Styles winning next week would present an interesting dynamic to the WWE Championship match at WrestleMania. Both Wyatt and Styles have been played up as”bad guys”, and typically two bad guys aren’t going to wrestle each other in a championship match, at least not at WrestleMania. They could turn one guy into a babyface pretty easily, but there’s not much time left to do that. WWE might decide to go with Styles vs. Wyatt despite this however, as both guys have fanbases who cheer for them regardless.

Harper vs. Wyatt at WrestleMania also presents an interesting storyline. The WWE Championship match at WrestleMania could be the platform for the Wyatt/Orton/Harper storyline to develop further. Also, if you haven’t checked out Luke Harper’s Twitter account, I suggest you do so now.

New SmackDown Women’s Champion, Naomi Relinquishes Due To Injury

70

Alexa Bliss is now a two-time SmackDown Women’s Champion after defeating Becky Lynch for the vacant championship on last night’s SmackDown.

The show opened with Daniel Bryan forcing Naomi to relinquish the championship due to the injury she apparently suffered in the win over Bliss at Elimination Chamber two weeks ago. Bryan then made Bliss vs. Becky and that match saw Bliss get the win with a cheap shot.

It should be noted that Naomi did wrestle at a WWE house show the night after Elimination Chamber.

WWE Smackdown Recap & Reaction (2/21)

32

Daniel Bryan opened up the show and called Smackdown Women’s Champion Naomi to the ring. Naomi came down to the ring wearing a knee brace. Daniel Bryan stated that this is the hardest thing he has ever had to do as Smackdown General Managaer. Bryan said that he and Shane have reviewed the medical records and that it has become clear that Naomi will not be able to defend her title within the mandatory 30 days. Daniel Bryan asked Naomi to relinquish her title and the crowd booed.

Naomi said that she knew that this was difficult for Bryan to do, given the fact that it had happened to him. Naomi said that she felt like she was on top of the mountain when she defeated Alexa Bliss, but now feels like she is in a free fall. Naomi began to get emotional when discussing Wrestlemania 33 and that the oppurtunity for her to defend the title in front of her hometown is probably now impossible. Naomi handed the title to Daniel Bryan and then the two hugged. Naomi vowed to recapture the Smackdown Women’s Championship when she makes her return.

Alexa Bliss stormed down to the ring just as Naomi was leaving. Alexa told Daniel Bryan that she had an idea and that idea was for him to just give her the Smackdown Women’s Championship. Daniel Bryan came up with a different idea and made a match between Alexa Bliss and Becky Lynch to determine the Smackdown Women’s Champion.

Smackdown Women’s Championship Match: Alexa Bliss vs Becky Lynch

Lynch controlled this match early. Becky hit a Dropkick off the top turnbuckle but Alexa kicked out at two. Alexa pulled the apron skirt into the ring and the referee became distracted by it. While the referee was fixing that, Alexa Bliss hit Becky Lynch in the throat with a cheap shot. Alexa then rolled up Becky while grabbing her tights for leverage. The referee didn’t see it and counted to three. After the match, Mickie James tried to attack Becky Lynch but Becky fought her off and knocked her out of the ring.

Winner & New Smackdown Women’s Champion: Alexa Bliss

Renee Young interviewed Natalya backstage. Natalya called Nikki Bella a fraud and claimed that she would win their match tonight.

Breezango vs American Alpha

American Alpha defeated Breezango easily. After the match, The Usos called out American Alpha and challenged them to a fight. American Alpha were ready but The Usos said that the fight wouldn’t happen tonight.

Winners: American Alpha

Five quick backstage segments were shown in in a row. AJ Styles screamed at someone backstage that he is going to main event Wrestlemania. Dolph Ziggler cut a promo in front of a green screen. Ziggler said that he is irreplaceable and then Superkicked the green screen and it changed to a backstage area. Mojo Rawley had a backstage promo and said that he will win tonight’s Battle Royal and main event Wrestlemania. Luke Harper cut a backstage promo and stated that he is now free. Harper said that the years of following Bray Wyatt will not prevent him from winning the Battle Royal and facing Bray at Wrestlemania. Finally, Nikki Bella cut a promo and vowed to shut Natalya up during their match tonight.

Falls Count Anywhere Match: Nikki Bella vs Natalya

The match started out back and forth. Nikki and Natalya quickly went over the barricade and started fighting in the crowd. They made their way back to the ring area and Nikki hit Natalya with an Alabama Slam on the announce table. The action then goes to the production area backstage. Maryse was walking by and Nikki was launched into her by Natalya. Maryse fell hard to the floor and the match continued. The fight returns to the entrance ramp and Natalya tries to apply the Sharpshooter. Nikki reverses it into the Fearless Lock and was about to win the match but Maryse broke up the hold. Maryse then beat the hell out of Nikki with a pipe. The Miz eventually came down to the ring and stopped her. Natalya then simply pinned Nikki for the victory.

Winner: Natalya

Battle Royal To Determine The #1 Contender For The WWE Championship: Luke Harper vs Mojo Rawley vs The Miz vs Dean Ambrose vs Dolph Ziggler vs Apollo Crews vs Kalisto vs AJ Styles vs John Cena vs Baron Corbin

The match started out slow and nobody was eliminated before the first commercial break in the match. When Smackdown returned, Baron Corbin launched Mojo Rawley over the top rope to eliminate him. Dolph Ziggler and Kalisto battled on the ring apron. Ziggler connected with a Superkick and Kalisto was eliminated. Crews then immediately kicked Ziggler while he was still on the apron. Ziggler fell to the ground and he was eliminated. Ziggler then grabbed a chair and hit Kalisto with it. Crews was shouting at Ziggler when Corbin threw Crews out of the ring from behind and eliminated him. Crews then chased Ziggler backstage.

The Miz then had control of the match as everyone was leaning against the turnbuckle. The Miz mocked Daniel Bryan by doing the “yes!” chant and connecting with a series of Dropkicks. Miz then hit a series of “yes!” kicks on Cena. The Miz went for one more and Cena ducked and threw The Miz out of the ring and eliminated. Smackdown then went to a commercial break with The Miz in shock outside the ring.

When Smackdown returned, Cena connected with a double German Suplex onto Dean Ambrose and AJ Styles. Baron Corbin then planted Cena with the End of Days. Corbin celebrated the move but lost track of Ambrose who then came up from behind him and eliminated him. Corbin lost it and dragged Ambrose outside the ring. Corbin then hit the End of Days onto Ambrose outside the ring. From behind, The Miz got back into the ring and thew Cena out to eliminate him. Cena couldn’t believe that it was legal for The Miz to eliminate someone after he was no longer a part of the match. Cena walked backstage but was very annoyed at what just happened.

Ambrose was still recovering from the End of Days while Styles and Harper battled in the ring. Styles and Harper battled for a minute and Ambrose finally re-entered the match. Ambrose tried to eliminate them both at the same time, but Styles and Harper caught themselves on the ring apron. Ambrose then joins them on the ring apron and all three Superstars battled on the apron. Harper connected with a kick to the chest of Ambrose and he fell forward and was eliminated. It was now down to AJ Styles and Luke Harper. Styles and Harper battled for the next several minutes. The end of the match came when Harper tried to Suplex Styles off the ring apron and they both fell to the ground. The referees argued for a bit but could not determine who won the Battle Royal. Daniel Bryan came down to the ring and announced that they will figure out who will become the #1 contender next week on Smackdown. Harper leveled Styles with a Clothesline and pointed to the Wrestlemania sign hanging above the ring. Bray Wyatt and Randy Orton then appeared on the titantron. Smackdown went off the air with Bray Wyatt laughing and Randy Orton looking on.

Reaction: Tonight’s episode of Smackdown was decent. It was unfortunate to see Naomi have to relinquish the Smackdown Women’s Championship so quickly after winning it. Alexa Bliss now holds the title once again but she doesn’t have a feud at the moment. Becky Lynch has a feud with Mickie James so it will be interesting to see who the WWE decides to have challenge Bliss for the title. With Maryse attacking Nikki Bella and The Miz screwing over Cena in the Battle Royal, it appears that the Wrestlemania rumors are true. It has been rumored that John Cena and Nikki Bella will face The Miz and Maryse at Wrestlemania. It seems like that is definitely going to happen after tonight’s events.

The finish to the Battle Royal was clunky. I thought Styles hit the floor before Harper but obviously the storyline was that they both hit at the same time. I still believe that Randy Orton will be in the WWE Championship match at Wrestlemania, so I’m not sure where this is all heading. Luke Harper got a solid reaction tonight from the crowd, but I find it hard to believe that the WWE would place Harper in the main event of Wrestlemania. It could somehow lead to a Triple Threat match at Wrestlemania between Harper, Orton and Wyatt for the WWE Championship. Styles versus Bray Wyatt would also be an interesting match but there have been a ton of rumors that Styles will be facing Shane McMahon at Wrestlemania. Overall, tonight’s episode of Smackdown wasn’t anything special. There were a ton of pre-taped interviews/promos on this show. Some were great and others were goofy like Dolph Ziggler booting an image that wasn’t there.

What did you think of this week’s episode of Smackdown? Let us know in the comments below.

Bryan says he won’t give it to her, but she will give her a match against Becky Lynch, and that match is right now.

Alexa Bliss def. Becky Lynch: Becky hits some arm drags early on and controls the opening moments of the match. Becky continues working on Alexa’s arm until Alexa comes back with some elbow strikes. Becky comes back and dominates the next few moments of the match until there’s a ref bump and Alexa hits Becky in the throat. Alexa rolls up Becky for the three count to win the Women’s Title. After the bell, The Usos pop up in the crowd with microphones and call out American Alpha. They challenge them to a fight, but not tonight.

– AJ Styles is walking backstage where he brags to a random guy that he’s going to the main event of WrestleMania.

– Luke Harper is in a dimly lit room where he also cuts a promo, saying that his years following Bray Wyatt will not stop him from going to WrestleMania.

– Nikki Bella does an interview backstage where she says she’s going to prove to Natalya tonight that she’s not just a pretty face.

Natalya def. Nikki Bella: This one is a falls count anywhere match. Nikki hits a spear and a kick early on for a two count, then goes outside for some weapons. Natalya gets some offense in at ringside, but Nikki grabs a kendo stick and comes back. Nikki throws Natalya over the fan barricade an they brawl through the crowd. Natalya tries to suplex Nikki off of a platform onto the floor, but Nikki pushes her off and hits a flying roundhouse kick for a two count. Back at ringside, Natalya mounts a comeback and throws Nikki into the steel ring steps for a two count. Natalya tries to powerbomb Nikki through the announce table, but Nikki punches her way out of the powerbomb attempt. Nikki hits an Alabama Slam on Natalya onto the announce table for a two count. Back in the ring, Natalya gets Nikki in a Sharpshooter, but Nikki reaches the ropes. They leave the ring and brawl on the entrance ramp, where Natalya suplexes her before heading to the backstage area. They brawl on some production equipment and into the hallways of the arena. Natalya throws Nikki and she knocks over Maryse, who was walking by. Nikki throws Natalya head-first into a mirror for a two count. They brawl back out onto the stage where Nikki spears Natalya for another two count. Natalya drops Nikki on the ramp and goes for the Sharpshooter, but Nikki reverses and puts Natalya in an STF. Maryse comes out with a pipe and starts beating down Nikki. Maryse hits Nikki in the knee with the pipe several times, then Natalya puts her in the Sharpshooter for the win via submission.

– Baron Corbin cuts a promo backstage saying he loves destruction and inflicting pain, and he’s going to win in the battle royal tonight.

– Apollo Crews is in the dressing room where he cuts a promo about the upcoming battle royal, and says he’s especially going after Dolph Ziggler tonight.

– Bray Wyatt cuts a promo praising Randy Orton’s sacrifice of his title shot. Bray says Orton has earned the keys to the kingdom, and all of his secrets. Wyatt says whoever wins the battle royal tonight, will be his sacrificial lamb at WrestleMania.

#1 Contender Battle Royal: Dean Ambrose is the last to enter and he jumps in the crowd of his 9 opponents and everyone begins brawling as the opening bell rings. Corbin drops several men until Mojo Rawley stops him and hits a running splash in the corner. Mojo goes to follow up with a second splash, but Corbin ducks and backdrops Mojo outside for the elimination. Kalisto starts laying people out with kicks. Ziggler and Kalisto start fighting on the apron where Ziggler starts grabbing at his mask, then superkicks Kalisto down to the floor for the elimination. Ziggler starts hitting Apollo Crews from the apron, but Crews kicks him in the head and Ziggler falls to the floor for the elimination. Mojo, Kalisto, and Ziggler have all been eliminated. Ziggler starts beating down Kalisto at ringside with a chair, which distracts Crews, and Corbin pushes Crews outside for the elimination. Crews takes the chair from Ziggler and chases him backstage. Back in the ring, Cena and Styles are going at it. Styles escapes an AA, and Harper superkicks Cena. AJ hits the Pele Kick on Harper, then The Miz takes advantage of his exhausted opponents with a series of dropkicks in the different corners of the ring. Miz hits a series of kicks on Cena, but Cena ducks the last one then throws Miz outside for the elimination. Cena suplexes both Ambrose and Styles at the same time, then hits a back suplex on Styles. Cena attempts a Five Knuckle Shuffle, but Corbin catches him with the End Of Days. Corbin charges at Ambrose, but Ambrose ducks and pulls down the rope, and Corbin is now eliminated. Corbin pulls Ambrose outside under the ropes and hits the End of Days on the ringside floor. It’s down to Ambrose, Cena, Harper and Styles. The Miz sneaks in the ring and throws John Cena over the top rope, which still counts as an elimination even though Miz himself was eliminated earlier. Cena tries to go back in the ring, but is hauled off by referees as The Miz runs through the crowd. Harper tries to eliminate Styles, but Ambrose knocks them both to the apron. Harper pulls Ambrose out to the apron next, and all three remaining competitors are now on the apron. Ambrose gets Styles on his shoulders, and Harper superkicks Ambrose. AJ falls back in the ring, but Ambrose falls to the floor at ringside and he’s eliminated. It’s down to Harper and Styles. Harper and AJ brawl up the turnbuckle on the corner until Harper falls into the ring. AJ follows Harper in the ring and starts working on him with kicks. Harper and Styles start fighting on the turnbuckle and apron again, and Harper appears to throw AJ out, but Mauro says there’s confusion about whose feet touched first. Referee Rudy Charles tells them that their feet hit at the same time. Daniel Bryan comes out next and declares the match a draw, and they’ll determine a winner next week. Styles shoves Harper, so Harper hits a discus lariat on AJ. Bray Wyatt and Randy Orton appear on the big screen, where Wyatt laughs at Harper as SmackDown goes off the air.

AJ Styles Responds To Nakamura, More On The Rock Calling CM Punk After RAW

83

– One of the big stories of the day NXT star Shinsuke Nakamura stating that he’s interested in facing AJ Styles at WrestleMania 33. The former WWE Champion caught wind of Nakamura’s comments and had this to say in response:

AJ Styles will participate in tonight’s #1 Contender’s Battle Royal on SmackDown Live.

– By now you’ve probably seen the video of The Rock calling CM Punk from the middle of the ring last night after RAW. The Rock calling Punk in front of the live crowd was completely unscripted, according to PWInsider. Fans were chanting CM Punk’s name throughout the evening and The Rock made the impromptu call.

According to sources who were backstage at the Staples Center, WWE management was none too pleased about The Rock acknowledging CM Punk in such a brash way. At one point somebody at ringside was instructed to get The Rock to end the segment. The Rock saw he was getting some pushback for the phone call and even told the crowd, “They better not turn off my mic!”

Shinsuke Nakamura Wants AJ Styles at WrestleMania 33

38

Shinsuke Nakamura gave a recent interview to the Japanese media and expressed an interest in working with AJ Styles at WrestleMania 33.  Chris Charlton, author of “Lion’s Pride, translated part of the interview recently on social media.

The full interview (in Japanese) can be read here.

When Will Nakamura Make His Main Roster Debut?

Nakamura and AJ Styles last wrestled each other on January 4th 2016, at WrestleKingdom 10. Neither would be with NJPW very much longer afterwards. Their careers went on very different paths once arriving in WWE however. AJ went straight to the main roster, debuting at the 2016 Royal Rumble. From there Styles became a major player immediately, while Nakamura was sent to NXT.

After having well-received matches with Sami Zayn, Finn Balor and Samoa Joe, Nakamura is still in NXT a year after signing with the company. He will need to finish up his feud with Bobby Roode before being called-up at the very least as well. At this point it seems likely that we will not see Nakamura on Raw or Smackdown until at least after WrestleMania.

Naomi Injury Update

26

Naomi did not work WWE’s live events this weekend, another indication that the Smackdown Women’s Champion knee injury is legit. Little is known regarding the extent of her injury, other than it is bad enough to keep her off of live events but not bad enough to require a change in storylines.

Naomi at WrestleMania in Orlando

Naomi is from the Orlando area, and as such the WWE would love to be able to promote a homegrown local champion for this year’s show. So far it appears WWE isn’t worried that Naomi’s injury will keep her off the event.

We should be provided with an update on Naomi tonight on Smackdown. Last week former champion, Alexa Bliss, gave Naomi one week to get ready for her rematch. If Naomi’s knee is only as bad as they thought it was last week then we should get that match tonight.

3 Matches Confirmed For Tonight’s 205 Live

2

3 matches have been confirmed for 205 Live tonight. The matches were announced in the video below:

//platform.twitter.com/widgets.js

  • Brian Kendrick vs. Akira Tozawa
  • Mustafa Ali vs. Noam Dar
  • Tony Nese vs. Jack Gallagher

What is Going on in 205 Live?

Recently Triple H referred to the all-cruiserweight brand as a work in progress. The show’s viewership is said to be quite low, but it has been picking up steam as of late.

2 weeks ago Jack Gallagher won an entertaining 5-way elimination match to earn the right to face Neville at Fastlane. Gallagher and Neville were involved in an entertaining contract-signing for the match last night on Raw. Gallagher faces Nese tonight, and Neville will probably be near by.

Kendrick and Tozawa have been involved in an angle as well. Recently Kendrick offered to mentor Tozawa, but was turned down. Tajiri has also shown little respect to Kendrick as of late. That angle will be furthered tonight when Kendrick and Tozawa face each other in a match originally scheduled for Raw this week.

Breaking Down Everything That Was Wrong With Last Night’s Monday Night Raw (Editorial)

Opening Segment: Kevin Owens Cuts A Promo On Goldberg

Kevin Owens opened up Raw alone. There was no Chris Jericho by his side, nobody to hide behind. Instead, he sat in a chair and stated his strategy for defeating Goldberg at Fastlane. Owens vowed to outlast Goldberg. He said it is common knowledge that the longer a Goldberg match goes, the more likely it is that Goldberg will falter. Owens was going to address his attack on Chris Jericho last week but opted to drop the microphone and leave the ring. Two weeks before WWE Fastlane, the WWE wants you to take Kevin Owens seriously. He has spent months relying on others to help him win matches. If he drops the title to Goldberg, he was officially a paper champion. If he retains due to outside interference, he is the same old Kevin Owens. If he defeats Goldberg clean, then all of Goldberg’s mystique is gone heading into his match against Brock Lesnar at Wrestlemania.

Enzo & Cass Become #1 Contenders For The Raw Tag Team Championships

After months of meaningless feuds, Enzo and Cass have finally been thrust into the Raw Tag Team Championship picture. They defeated Sheamus & Cesaro and will now face Gallows & Anderson for the titles at WWE Fastlane. Sheamus & Cesaro won the Raw Team Championships by defeating the New Day. The New Day were the longest reigning Tag Team Champions in WWE history. Sheamus & Cesaro then did nothing with the titles and promptly dropped them to Gallows & Anderson on the Royal Rumble Kickoff Show. After the match, Sheamus leveled Enzo with a Brogue Kick outside the ring. Cesaro congratulated Sheamus on laying out Enzo. Are Sheamus & Cesaro now heels? I guess those backstage segments with Bayley the last couple of weeks were pointless.

Roman Reigns Beatdown Both Gallows & Anderson

For the second week in a row, Roman Reigns was able to beat the hell out of the Raw Tag Team Champions. There has really been no explanation as to why Gallows & Anderson insist on fighting Roman Reigns. These Handicap matches have done nothing but make Gallows & Anderson look weak. Roman Reigns looks powerful, but he always has. The problem is that he has never been able to connect with the WWE Universe the way that the WWE apparently wants him to. Instead of feeding a random team like the Shining Stars to Reigns, the WWE has instead made the Raw Tag Team Champions look even weaker than they already did before this “feud” with Roman Reigns.

The New Day Are The New Enzo & Cass

After dropping the Raw Tag Team Championships, the New Day have been in random feuds with Titus O’Neil and now Rusev & Jinder Mahal. The New Day were named the hosts of Wrestlemania 33, presumably because the WWE has nothing for them to do. The New Day are now protecting their blueprints to their ice cream that is coming out this year. Why every Superstar they face is obsessed with these blueprints I have no idea. Since losing the United States Championship, Rusev has been relegated to a comedy act. Rusev was once feared as this dominant force, now he is stuck in segments like the one we saw last night.

The Women’s Division On Raw Is The Same Thing Over And Over Again

Charlotte has never lost a match on a WWE PPV, yet is routinely beaten on Monday Night Raw. Last night, she tapped out to the Bank Statement via Sasha Banks. Last week, Charlotte lost her Women’s Championship to Bayley. It was announced that Charlotte will get her rematch for the Raw Women’s Championship at WWE Fastlane. Instead of slowly building Bayley up, she was given the Raw Women’s Championship on a random episode of Raw. Stephanie McMahon wanted Bayley to relinquish the title due to Sasha Banks interfering in her match with Charlotte last week. If Bayley drops the title to Charlotte at Fastlane, that will make Charlotte a 5x Raw Women’s Champion in under a year.

I find it hard to believe that Charlottes undefeated PPV streak would end at Fastlane. It would make much more sense for that moment to happen at Wrestlemania. It also would have made more sense for Bayley to overcome Charlotte and The Authority and finally get her moment at Wrestlemania. Instead, we’ve already seen that moment of her winning the Raw Women’s Championship. The other option is for Bayley to retain and face either Sasha Banks or Nia Jax at Wrestlemania. The problem with that is that Nia Jax receives virtually no reaction from the WWE Universe. Sasha Banks has zero momentum right now and Wrestlemania is five weeks away. It just seems like the better story would have been to hold Bayley down until Wrestlemania. Charlotte could have screwed Bayley out of winning the Raw Women’s Championship until the biggest show of the year.

Roman Reigns Is In No Man’s Land

Roman Reigns has gotten his ass kicked two weeks in a row by Braun Strowman. Reigns will face Strowman at WWE Fastlane. If he defeats Strowman at Fastlane, people will be pissed off. If Reigns loses, what does he do at Wrestlemania? As of now, Roman Reigns is not a part of a major match at Wrestlemania. I’m not sure if the WWE thought that placing Reigns in Handicap matches would cause the audience to be more receptive to him. Whatever they were going for, it hasn’t worked at all.

Michael Cole made it a point to say that Roman Reigns sent a message after he beatdown Gallows & Anderson. I have zero clue what that message is supposed to be. Is Reigns going to face Strowman at Fastlane and then again at Wrestlemania? Reigns is a no win situation right now. If he gets thrust into the Universal Championship picture before Wrestlemania, people will get pissed off. If he is not a part of a major match at Wrestlemana, that feels like a waste. Say what you want about Roman Reigns, at the very least he generates a reaction from the WWE Universe. Right now, he seems to be in a position where the WWE Universe does not want him to succeed, yet the WWE still wants him to be a top guy.

Video: The Rock & Vince McMahon Appear Before RAW

4

The Rock and Vince McMahon appeared before tonight’s RAW in Los Angeles before the USA Network broadcast began.

Rock came out to a big pop and told the crowd that they would be filming footage for the “Fighting With My Family” movie based on Paige’s family from WWE Studios and Rock’s Seven Bucks Productions. He confirmed that they will be filming a scene based on Paige defeating AJ Lee for the Divas Championship.

Rock also took a shot at John Cena, first announcing that Cena was in the movie but then saying he was just kidding because they want it to be a good movie. Rock joked that he would be hearing from Cena via text message for the joke.

Rock went to wrap up his segment before Vince McMahon joined him for a quick appearance as they were getting close to the 8PM RAW start time.
